Yes, Bro I can afford it. Had to then ask again upon his return for the menu and he told me I would have to go to the front to get it myself from hostess. I ordered one unagi sashimi and hot tea. The sushi came very quickly but the rest of the tables food came nearly 30 mins later after we asked one of the bussers to go please check. XU never came back to check how the food was or refill our waters. I never got my hot tea. So there I sat listening to the music and stared out the window. 5 or more mandatory gratuity. I came for the AYCE and would have ordered a sushi boat for me and my teen but he never came back to take my order. Last ditch effort he did bring my youngest a vanilla ice cream. We came in because of the "good reviews" we made the mistake of not reading ALL the reviews. I now know why this place is under 4 stars. It took 15 minutes to get our 6 orders of Hamachi. It's 2 pieces per order and all 12 pieces would be the size of a Big piece in a quality Japanese Bar/Restaurant. I'm not kidding. Pieces were slightly bigger than a quarter/25 cent piece. On average it took 10 to 15 minutes to get the Hamachi. Sushi for other tables did seem to come out quicker. My recommendation is to not upgrade to the Premium $20 more per person as it felt like they were discouraging us from getting the Hamachi. Server even told us that our 4th order of Hamachi might take longer because it's still frozen. I told her that I'd eat it frozen at this point and I seem to have shocked her. I guess she thought the reasoning of frozen would buy the sushi chefs the 15 minutes they needed to slice 12 small pieces of Hamachi. Staff did seem embarrassed to work there and stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've never left a AYCE buffet after 90 minutes and still be hungry. I've been here a bunch of times prior to them becoming an AYCE. We had reservations for the AYCE dinner at 6pm on a Monday. Seemed like the perfect time, the restaurant was pretty empty when we got there but started filling up not too much after. The place is nice and bright without the teppanyaki tables. They still offer the menu but no longer cook in front of you. Our server was great, providing just the right amount of service! My table felt like the sushi we order was just ok. Of the 5 we ordered, the lobster delight roll was the better of the 5. The menu says the California and Philadelphia rolls are cooked but they arrived at our table like regular raw rolls. We did enjoy the all non-sushi items we ordered like the hibachi scallops, shumai, fried oysters, shrimp and vegetable tempura and chicken wings. Sakura Kapolei has been around for a bit and recently revamped. They removed their teppanyaki grills and are now offering ala carte menu and AYCE sushi (and other foods) menu. Local influencers started to promote their AYCE offering so we decided to check it out. We arrived on Thursday just before 6PM and was told we'd need to wait 30 minutes for the AYCE menu. We are still stumped as to why. It is not buffet style, you order from a menu, so not sure why we couldn't already order as the kitchen was open and ala carte menu already being offered. We asked to sit at the bar so we could have a drink while we waited. Maybe 15 minutes passed before we put an order in. Only my drink was made while my two friends had to wait as the server (who was also the hostess) went to help people at the door, take out orders and phone calls. She finally came back and made the other 2 drinks. Around 7 (well more than the 1/2 hour quoted), she told us she'd cash us out and seat us. We went to a separate room for the AYCE customers. Some in there still had no food and so we decided to write our order down so we could order everything at once. A couple servers passed by us with no acknowledgement, no water, nothing. A family came in not long after us, was given water right away and and it looked like they started to order. At that point, we decided to leave. We were there close to 1 1/2 hours and didn't get to eat a single thing. They are severely short staffed. We've visited Sakura Sushi & Hibachi several times, and the hospitality and quality have always kept us returning. On this visit we stopped in for a light lunch and ordered the Sakura Boat, which is the smaller of the sushi boats they offer but still more than enough for two people. The presentation was great and the seafood tasted fresh and clean. Pricing is about what you'd expect from a sushi and hibachi restaurant, but the flavor and quality of the fish make it worth it. For my daughter, we ordered the Hibachi Chicken plate with fried rice. She usually just eats a little bit of her meals, but this time she finished the entire plate--which says a lot about how good it was. The chicken was flavorful and the fried rice was cooked perfectly. Service throughout the meal was friendly, attentive, and very prompt, and our food came out quickly. Between the fresh seafood, flavorful dishes, and welcoming service, it's easy to see why this is a place we keep returning to. This location no longer has hibachi cooktop tables! We made a reservation for 7 and we were surprised when we walked in as it was so quiet, and it was just regular dining tables. We chanced it anyways and quickly discovered the food had also changed - the noodles and rice were different and not as flavorful. I really do not recommend this place! I went there with my husband today and was absolutely shocked! The sashimi slices on top of the sushi were as thin as paper--it felt like I was just eating plain rice! Furthermore, while they advertise that you can order in batches of three, the wait time between servings was so long that it completely disrupted the flow of our meal. On top of that, before we were even seated, we were instructed to read a notice stating that we would be charged extra if we left any rice behind; consequently, we ended up eating our meal feeling thoroughly put off. I saw this place on social media. Now we live on Maui but we definitely like sushi and we love going to new sushi spots. So when this popped up we had to check it out. We were not disappointed. They are located in Kapolei at the new shopping center Kamakana Alii. Sakura is located directly across the parking lot from GEN. We made reservations for 8pm since we were coming from Waikiki. When we got there they were still busy with most tables occupied. Our hostess seated us a few minutes after we arrived and then our waiter came over shortly after. We started with a fried oysters and some mussels as well as the jalapeño hamachi. All were very good quality fish and prepared well. We also ordered some Hibachi Calamari as well as more nigiri. Some Hamachi , surf clam , Masago, white tuna , eel. All nigiri all were fresh and excellently prepared. We also had the sweet heart roll, Spider-Man roll, crazy Friday roll also tried some red snapper nigiri. The service was great our sushi came quickly and I like the decor. It was great for a newer business. I want to go back and try some of the other rolls and some of the other nigiri. They also have a premium option that gets you scallops, Lobster roll and sashimi. Made reservations for dinner at teppanyaki/hibachi. Arrive to find out the removed all of the teppanyaki/hibachi tables and everything is now cooked in the kitchen so no show at all. What a huge disappointment as our last experience was great. The food is still good but not to correct temperature when brought out to the table. All three of our meals were cold which is not appetizing. I made a reservation a week in advance for 6pm for a party of five to celebrate my fiancé's birthday. We specifically chose this place because we were excited to try their new AYCE sushi menu. When we arrived right at 6pm, the host told us we'd still be waiting another 15-20 minutes because they only had two servers working. That was already a bit disappointing since we had a reservation, but we understood and decided to wait inside. Unfortunately, 15-20 minutes turned into 35+ minutes with no updates at all. The host walked past us multiple times without checking in or letting us know how much longer the wait would be. We eventually left around 6:35pm after still not being seated, and we never even received a call or follow-up. While we were waiting, we also looked over the AYCE menu and were surprised at how limited it was -- only a few pages, mostly large photos of nigiri and just a handful of rolls. It didn't feel like much variety for an "all you can eat" option. Overall, it was disappointing, especially since this was meant to be a birthday dinner. We were seated at 8:30pm. The hostess and sign says it's open until 9:30pm. We did the AYCE regular menu at $38.99. This was new for us as we didn't even know they offered an AYCE option. A lot of selections. They will charge for leftover rice which is understandable. However, every time the server came to take our order, he was always checking his watch which really didn't make us feel welcomed. The food was alright. You can only order 3 things at a time. I first ordered the hibachi shrimp - 3 small pieces arrived. The sashimi is only included in the premium AYCE which is $20 more. A way around this is to order the Tuna tataki or the yellowtail jalepeno from the appetizer menu. This will give you some seared pieces of raw tuna and some hamachi pieces (you can just take off the jalepeno and dip the fish in shoyu to get off jalapeño taste). The only issue I really had was the 9pm last call for orders. When we asked the host about the time they closed, she said 9:30pm. No where does it say "9pm last call for orders." This would've totally made a difference for us on whether or not we would've done the AYCE meals - knowing it would've just been 30min or ordering. I really think they should list that for customers. They list many other rules which they make you read prior to sitting down. read more

To preface this, we really enjoy the Mililani Sakura we have gone there quite abit, and this was the 2nd time I tried the kapolei one (1st time since renovation). The kapolei location is slightly more expensive than mililani, but prior to the renovation that was okay to me for the convenience if you live west side. But now after the renovation theres no Teppenyaki show, everything is cooked in the back. But its still priced high like your getting a show. Your paying extra for fake flowers on your plates. The wait to be seated was about 1 hour, and it was frustrating to see another group seated ahead despite arriving after us(both of our groups have no reservation and was given a wait list as we overheard the conversation with the hostess). It gave an impression that certain groups are given preferential treatment. After finally being seated, our table was not set, and it took another 15 minutes before we were even able to place our order. Our food arrived before utensils, we then borrowed some from a nearby table. Some of our orders were mistake more than once. The long delays nearly caused us to walk out twice once before being seated and again while waiting for our food both of which times, seems to pressure to have us stay. Even when the aforementioned table being not set, the second time which took roughly took 20 minutes after ordering and finishing our drinks. The hostess was extremely friendly and appeared to be working very hard, even helping run food to tables. Unfortunately, the rest of the service did not match her effort. While the sushi rolls themselves were very tasty and beautifully presented, the poor service overshadowed the quality of the food. We've been coming to Sakura for years and always loved the hibachi experience. Fun chefs, great portions, and a lively atmosphere. Sadly, that's all gone. When we went last night, the hibachi tables were completely removed and replaced with cramped booths. The space felt bright, loud, and totally lost its charm. Service was painfully slow . 15 minutes just to get drinks and our food came out cold and out of order. The hibachi plate looked like a kid's portion and was greasy, drenched in raw garlic, and cooked in the back instead of in front of us. The sushi took 45 minutes, and when it finally came (at the end), the salmon was mushy. I refused to eat it, but my husband did -- and he's been sick since. Our drinks were never refilled and was difficult to understand our server as for some reason every time she spoke she placed her pad of paper over her mouth. Strange. We spent over $150, over two hours dining, left hungry, and wasted a rare night out. Our server mentioned they're switching to an all-you-can-eat model next week, which sadly explains a lot. It feels like they're trading quality for cheap buffet-style food. This used to be one of our go-to spots on the west side, but after last night, we won't be back. April 28th 2026- I was part of a group of 7 adults and 1 child celebrating a birthday and we decided to try out there new AYCE sushi menu ( lunch time 28.95) Where do I begin? I work the industry I when I checked in I asked if I get the cost for 1 person with tax, Skye didn't seem to understand so my question as I was replied with it being 28.95 and I repeated that I'd like to how much it is with tax, she makes a face , tossed menus in her hand and proceeds to the pos system to check the total for one person, she then mumbles something and I stopped her So i can explain to her that I'm asking this so I can let my party know so when the bills we can be on it! We are now being sat after 30 minutes from checkin til my entire party showed up ( remember this part it's crucial) we walk in and she demands for my 2 yo niece to stand against the wall; to determine her height if she pays or, the rule is 3 ft and below is complementary she was just under; but SKYE says she is half off but we're like no it's her hair and her crocs. Which it was so we thought we cleared that up. We weren't in too much of a rush but it's lunch time and we're hungry so we were immediately ready to order and our waitress Wee-Wee, she did an okay job, given the circumstances of her manager SKYE's attitude and managerial skills probably messes with the employees functionality. The food was mediocre ; and the 3 per person rule kinda didn't make sense, because you have to wait for all items in that order to come out. So instead of ordering one by one couple at time we had to take advantage of our waitress taking our order so we ordered the max for each person which for our group was 21 items, so therefore order is huge. Fast forward to end of service, Skye pretends to check on a table , stares our table down ( looking at the amount of food ) serves us this HORRIBLE frozen powdered cake ( oh I forgot it was my best friends birthday ) and then proceeds to tell us she'll be charging us for extra food! The AYCE sushi is such a rip off. It's $30 for lunch and $40 for dinner but that's not including the premium which is $20 extra on top. Also they made us pay for our 3 year old for AYCE even though she doesn't eat sushi she only ate noodles but since she sat with us she got charged half price of the AYCE. Don't even get me started on the menus. The "Regular" menu for AYCE is garbage. It's barely anything for Nigiri even tuna is premium. I'll attach the photos of the menu bc I couldn't find any pics of it before coming here. The servers were also rude and was not polite and granted we had a party of 5 but the restaurant was empty and it still took a while just for us to get our food. You can only order up to three things per person when you order and then it also takes 25-30 mins to get your food so it's just not a fun experience bc you also can't even order more food until EVERYONE at your table finishes their food. My friend and I ordered a Diet Coke and it took asking 4 times and over 25mins to get one Diet Coke and we ordered two of them... If you want a good AYCE experience on the island go to Waikiki and eat at Kan Sushi you'll pay just a little more but it's 1000% better bang for your buck and a better experience. I did not have good service. I stood at the "check in" podium for 10-15 minutes without being helped. Given only because the wait staff (Alex) & Runner/Busser (Rhiana) was VERY GOOD.. If I was just them they would get .. The down fall was with the Manager/Bartender (Skye) & Kitchen.. We made our reservations for 1p & got sat by Alex. He came by a few minutes later to take our order (All you can eat), prior to him coming Rhiana came to ask for our drink order (we only ordered water at that time). When Alex took our order we ordered 1 sushi roll & about 6 dishes & 2 drinks (Alcohol). About 20 minutes later our food started to come out, but really slow.. Like 1-2 dishes every 10 minutes. After being there for 2.5 hours we still didn't receive all that we ordered the 1st time & by the time the other half of our order came out we were full & wanted to leave. Once we ordered Alex went straight to the register & started putting in our order so I know the delay wasn't on Alex's side. About 10 minutes after ordering Alex reminded the manager of our drinks (2nd time). About 15 minutes after that as I walked to the bathroom I ran into Rhiana & asked if she could check on our drinks. We finally got our drinks almost 30 minutes later. It was AWFUL.. It tasted like vodka mixed with water added food coloring & lihing Mui on the rim. Wanted to try the premium all you can eat lunch and gotta say was very disappointed. All the nigiri tasted fishy and they packed on the rice for each nigiri. Service was poor as you can only order 3 dishes per order which is fine but each order took 10-15 minutes and the place was empty. Can't imagine how long it would take if the place was busy. Even the drink order took 10-15 minutes each time. The best part is I just got home a little while ago and threw everything back up. Definitely never going back. read more

We celebrated our coworker's retirement/birthday here. My first time here and when I walked it I said "oh wow, so nice!" out loud. LOL We had a party of 8 and reserved a table instead of the "grill" area. Our service was great and she was very helpful in helping us choose the most popular sushi rolls. We also got shrimp and veggie tempura. WE DEVOURED EVERYTHING! Well, our side of the table did hahaha! I will definitely be back here with my son and boyfriend! read more

The service is nice at least, very sweet hostess. There was an hour wait time for all you can eat and then when we were seated barely anyone was in there so the time didn't make sense. They limited you to only 3 rolls per round which would've been fine if they came out fast but they didn't. We waited for about 15 minutes and food wasn't out yet. We decided to dine in, we opted out for sitting in front the grill. There was zero wait time, we was seated right away!! As soon as you walk in the place is quite dim in most places but as you are seated your table section is nicely light! Very clean, has soft mellow music playing and a little sushi bar that looks super cool according to the children we had!! They loved it Our waiter Eric was very quick as we sat, he greeted us and dropped some waters. Give and take 5-10 minutes he was back ready to take our orders. We got the shrimp and vegetable tempura: super crunchy on the outside. The sauce went perfect with the tempura, and the variety of vegetables was so nicely laid out and displayed! 10/10 for sure We also got the Hawaii Roll: the fish was so fresh and soft it literally melts in your mouth as you start to chew. The avocado shrimp topping and crunch goes perfect on top! 10/10 We also got the emperors meal: the lobster was cooked and the seasoning was just right. Not too salty but also had plenty flavor!! And OMG the steak for sure melts in your mouth, it was so soft and cooked exactly to the right temperature!! 10/10 What made our evening was we came in with a toddler who wasn't the best behaved. Who also only asked for tofu, and our waiter Eric was so nice he went and got her a small bowl of tofu! His attentiveness was amazing my cup never went close to the bottom he was on it! We went to Sakura last night for my wife's birthday, and unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. We had high hopes, got all dressed up, and expected a nice dinner -- but things went downhill pretty quickly. First off, they don't have the hibachi cooked in front of you like the Mililani location. Everything is done in the kitchen, which already took away a big part of the fun experience we were looking forward to. Our waitress was nice but seemed overwhelmed, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. There were only a few tables with guests and plenty of staff, yet the whole vibe felt tense and rushed instead of relaxed. We ordered a sushi appetizer, hibachi for two, and a bento box for our son. The hibachi came out first, but the sushi and bento never showed up. I had to flag down the manager because, honestly, serving main dishes before the appetizer is just basic restaurant etiquette. It made what was supposed to be a special night feel frustrating. Not the experience we were hoping for......The food itself was just okay -- borderline disappointing. The manager did come over, apologized, and offered a dessert plate to make up for it, which we appreciated, but by that point, the mood was already gone. Overall, the food was mediocre, the service chaotic, and the atmosphere far from relaxing. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for -- and not a place we'll be returning to. read more
