Abalone & i'm sorry i forgot the name of this sashimi as well- the owner recommended! was amazing & once again melts in your mouth.

I seriously never write reviews on Yelp, but this place is AMAZING. It was the most authentic Japanese sushi i've ever had. We were the only ones in there, and the owner is the one who runs the sushi bar & makes the sushi. He was so cool and made the experience even better. He had us try seasonal special dishes and you could tell was EXTREMELY talented, passionate about what he does, & knowledgeable. This one of the best places i've ever been to in my life. The quality is incredible and it straight melts in your mouth. The sauces were incredible. Everything was truly amazing. It was one of the coolest places i've ever tried or been to- please go here. Also because I work in senior care- anyone who has older Japanese parents too or want something super authentic this would be perfect. The abalone was still alive right before he prepared it. He let me keep the shell. Go here and ask him about the dishes- definitely 100000/10 and a hole in the wall.

Great sushi, friendly chef, in an excellent atmosphere. Sits eight all at the bar, up close and personal, yet still feels chill. Will be back, p.s. BYOB.

Sushi Koh is the best omakase Ive had in Central Oahu. The sushi chef is very friendly and knowledgeable. The omakase is 130 per person for sashimi, (12) piece nigiri, uni and ikura chawanmushi, salmon skin salad, and dessert. All of the fish is fresh, and the chef creates a unique experience or flavor for each piece or dish. I am definitely returning here, and trying some of the bowls.

So excited for a new sushi spot! ...and in Waipahu at that! Sushi Koh is located right next to K's Bento (another Waipahu treasure!). If you're not familiar with Waipahu, this spot is going to be very hole-in-the wall type for you . It's small- we're talking 6-seater small, and a one man show, but I loved the intimate setting. The restaurant was clean, and the fish was delicious. My first visit was during his lunch hours (1130-2). Got there right at 1130 and there was only one other party there. I had a negitoro & ahi don and uni nigiri! So good. It also came with miso soup and fresh wasabi . The owner was friendly and down to Earth. Enjoyed talking story with him! I also appreciated that he didn't force himself upon us with small talk. He let us eat our lunch in peace first lol. Also, we were a little surprised to hear him speak in Japanese with his other customers, so there's also that if you need it . Parking can be tight- there's about 3 stalls right up front? Otherwise you can park right across the street Can't wait to go back for dinner!

Waipahu' New Hidden Gem Sushi Koh just opened in September 2025, and it's already easily one of Waipahu's best-kept secrets. Tucked right next to K's Bento and Heart to Table, this tiny sushi bar seats only eight people total, giving it an intimate, personal feel you don't find often anymore. We went as a family of seven, and even though the place is small, the seating felt cozy rather than cramped. They take reservations, and we were able to call just a few hours ahead to book a 7pm spot--which was super convenient. Another bonus: it's BYOB, which made the night even better. The prices were shockingly reasonable for the quality. My other half ordered an omakase bowl for just $12, and it was fresh, beautifully prepared, and honestly a steal compared to most sushi bar spots in town. If you love trying new local spots before they get popular, Sushi Koh is absolutely worth checking out. Amazing value, fresh ingredients, and such a welcoming vibe. Can't wait to go back!

Its a hidden in the wall kinda place. I love it, the vibe, the friendliness of the chef. Felt very personal one on one. Seating is limited due to it being small. But the sushi is fresh and super amazing! Loved everything that I had order. Its made to order! The chef was a very amazing person. I love that it is simple place, simple menu. Definitely coming back here!

Just found out about this place from a fellow Yelper. Decided to go around lunch time after doing errands. It's located next to Heart 2 Table restaurant and K's Bento-ya. Walked in and it was a small restaurant, seats about 8 customers! Kinda reminded me of the Golden Gai bars in Japan, which I enjoyed because you get the attention of the sushi chef! And lucky me I was the only customer! I ordered the omakase because I couldn't make up my mind on what to eat! Yoichi, the sushi chef prepared what he had that day and I gotta tell you....it was the best sushi on the leeward side I ever had! I happily told Yoichi that I don't have to drive all the way to town for ono sushi! Everything I had was so delicious! See pics of what I had. I had more but I was so hungry I forgot to take pics. I enjoyed my meal and talking story with Yoichi and learning about the restaurant. Kinda reminds me of Sushi Masa days...sit and eat and talk story with the chef. I highly recommend this place! If you have a big party reservations are recommended! I'll be back again!

So glad that we found Sushi Koh on Yelp! Chef Yoichi has a gem of a place that should be packed based on the great food, atmosphere and just doing things right (old school). Recommend folks to check this place out. Loved everything we ate. And the homemade yuzu ice cream dessert was awesome. Will be back for sure!

Seriously hidden gem right next to Honolulu Kitchen. A few parking stalls in front. Small sushi bar that fits about 5-6 people. Sushi chef opens up after talking more. Prices are medium/high but you get what you pay for. BYOB for now so bring some sake to enjoy with sushi/sashimi.

We just tried this small locally run sushi place in Waipahu and were very pleasantly surprised at how fresh the fish and other sushi items were. We had their ten piece $12.00 nigiri lunch special and all the items were delicious. It came with miso soup and was well worth the price. We will be going back to try their regular menu sushi items soon.

I didn't know about this place! It's across from my working place AND they're open late. Service is superb and I love the inside , small but cute. I got a negitoro bowl and Ikura nigiri. Will be back with friends/family!!

Even though the lot was busy, there were plenty of open spots near Hou since it's toward the end of the plaza. It's been a while since I've been to this area--it has cleaned up nicely now that Highway Inn is gone. Inside, the restaurant is clean, well-lit, and the staff is very friendly. We ordered the Shrimp Tempura Udon and the California + Spicy Tuna + Crab Salad roll combo. No regrets! The miso-based broth in the udon was delicious, and I appreciated that the shrimp tempura came on the side to stay crispy. My personal favorite, however, was the spicy tuna on top of the cone sushi--it paired perfectly with the udon. The prices are great, and I was happy to learn they have a second location on Kapiolani. It's a great addition to the West Side and clearly popular with the local crowd. I'll definitely be back!

To put it into perspective, there was a flash flood warning during a storm this week and I still drove 40 minutes just to pick up takeout from them. That's how worth it this place is to me. The portions here are insanely generous, especially for the price point. You get so much food, and the quality never feels compromised. The fish is consistently fresh, flavorful, and well prepared, which is why I keep coming back year after year. Their service is also incredibly efficient. You can tell this team really knows how to run a tight operation.
