I got the Belize quesadilla. The flavor was pretty good but the steak was tough. The portions are massive so don't be intimidated by the price. This location is especially good because of the ample outdoor seating area. You have to order chips and salsa they are not complimentary. I also ordered the frozen margarita which is one of my favorites. Service was good, a little understaffed so expect a bit of wait time. read more

We stopped in for lunch a couple weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon before restaurants in the area were takeout only. We ordered the Negril tacos and the Martinique burrito bowl. The food was really good and the service was prompt. I love the location of this restaurant. It is really big with lots of seating and I cannot wait for summer to be able to sit out on the patio. The prices are a bit on the pricier side for the portion sizes. read more

I love their food but every time I order ahead of time to avoid waiting, I still end up waiting an extra 10- 20 minutes. read more

The food is almost always good. However, with the new location, the management and rules seem to have changed, the portions are smaller, and the prices are much steeper. Every time I go they seem to find a new way to charge me more. On one order, I substituted avocado for meat - at their suggestion. They next time I did that, they charged me $4 for avocado and said that they had changed their policy. When I told them I didn't want it (since it cost more than 1/3 the cost of the burrito), they told me it was already made. They serve some items at the takeout stand in the restaurant that they don't offer inside - and don't have any explanation for it, though I'm sure it's not a high enough price point. I used to love this restaurant and it was one of my all-time faves, but they've taken all the fun out of it by sucking every cent out of any opportunity. It used to have a great vibe but not anymore. I used to take friends and guests from out of town but not anymore. It's a bummer. read more

Great place, Great ambiance! CHEERS!!: Love the Rock House Jerk Chicken, Belize, Havana and Mykonos! More Cheers for drinks too: Margaritas, Surfsider drinks - very niceee! BOOOS!! They eliminated the Chicken Tortilla Soup and Tortolla, which were great - so big booing for these menu eliminations! Still will return, but I hope the menu does not shrink any more. read more

Great food and the people are so friendly! Surfside has great music and looks beautiful with its surfboards adding to the beach theme. I was sat immediately and they brought out food so quickly in under 10 minutes. The service is always fast and the food is always delicious! read more

Surfside is nice. On Tuesday they do taco Tuesday. You can choose a taco entree and you get an additional taco for free. I had steak and brisket tacos. The meat was tender. I enjoyed the steak tacos more. They came with guac and bell peppers. I like that the brisket tacos came with a fried shell. The tacos weren't the best tacos I've ever had, but they also weren't the worst. Topped it off with a spicy margarita. The drink was good. read more

If you're expecting this to be similar to the previous location in Glover Park, be prepared that this is closer to Millie's in Spring Valley. That includes the vibe, the restaurant interior, the large bar area, the menu layout and - yikes - the prices. I used to pay $11.95 for the two-taco combo that set me back $14.95 here. They also didn't have the free extra taco on Taco Tuesday, citing the newness of the restaurant. Still, the food was as good as ever, at least the Cabo San Lucas that I always get. read more

The food here is generally pretty consistent, but not remarkable. Will generally pay a little more here than at a Cactus/Los Cuates, but you're also paying for a little bit more aesthetic - this location is certainly more expansive than its original Glover Park footprint. The chips have always been pretty disappointing here (especially since they are not gratis) and does knock them down a little in comparison to comparable restaurants. Delivery has also been a consistent option during the pandemic. read more

I would give it a 2 1/2 if that were possible. The food was meh, everything on our table lacked any taste, the guacamole was basically chunky pieces of avacoda, the dishes we ordered were plentiful but nothing to write home about, and the drinks, while tasty, barely had any alchohol in them. I will say that the staff was friendly and attentive, and helped us move to a different table. Lots of much better food of its kind within 1 mile, I was excited to try it, since it is within walking dsistance of my home, but sorry to say, we won't be going back. read more

Surfside needs to get its s**t together with Doordash. Every single time I order through them, order is wrong or items are missing. Every. Single. Time. Doesn't happen with me with any other restaurant (I order for corporate lunches). read more

Service is slow, when I called the waiter he deliberately ignored me several times. I went to ask the bartender and she tells me that "he is not supposed to respond if you call him". Absurd, but yes this is the answer I got. Then the server walks by and laughs at us.. not fun... read more

I walked in with my girlfriend. We did not have a reservation. They proceeded to sit us all the way in the back past the employee station. We waited 5 mins with no one greeting us. No one ever came to the table. The blatant disrespect is in called for. read more

Decent flavor but overpriced. I dob't think the vegetarian tacos shown are worth 13 dollars. Also, not authentic Mexican food. I would only return if I was desperate and everything else was closed. read more

We had a wonderful lunch outside on a Friday afternoon to celebrate my stepson's birthday. The service was excellent. The Mai Tais, poke, and mahi mahi tacos were as good or better than what I had in Hawaii. I highly recommend this place. It is underrated. read more

I highly recommend their pork belly sliders and frozen margs for happy hour. The nachos with pork is a solid option

Fantastic. Favorite place to eat service was great. Brad was great he was our server and the bartender. Food drinks ambiance everything phenomenal read more

I could eat Surfside everyday!! I've tried lots of things on the menu, but I keep coming back to the Nevis and Maui tacos. Their ingredients are fresh, light, and flavorful. Make sure to get a side of yellow rice and black bean and corn salsa. It feels more fancy than regular tacos, but still a casual, fun dinner spot. read more

The food here is always great, and a good bang for your buck. The quesadillas are always a favorite and the Bermuda Triangle is phenomenal. However, they are unwilling to accommodate for dietary preferences. My family is gluten intolerant and request corn tortillas on our quesadillas. About half of the servers will place this order for me, and half will not allow me to order it. Because of this unfortunately anyone who is GF has very limited options. I am sad to say I can not return anymore. read more

Server Caroline was steadfast in delivering all of the food I ordered. Her customer service was excellent! I seldom review restaurants in this app, but her customer service really put all of my other restaurant experience to shame. The food was quite tasty - we shared appetizers and the pork belly sliders were awesome. the shrimp egg rolls were very tasty and the guacamole is delish .The cocktails were very good. I am a big fan of Surfside and have eaten there more than any other restaurant since I moved to the AU Park area a few months ago. The food is great, service is usually pretty good, and the drinks are fantastic. However, I had a very disappointing experience there last Thursday night that I wanted to share so that people are aware. I had made a reservation for a group of friends to sit on the patio. We are only doing outdoor dining in light of the pandemic, and one of our favorite things about Surfside is that you can specify if your reservation is for the patio or the dining room -- we always pick patio. When we arrived, however, we were told that we would have to be seated inside because there was a large private event on the patio. I was a little annoyed that no one had told me about that in advance (surely they knew), but it wasn't the end of the world. But what happened next is what really frustrated me: the host tried to tell me that I was the one who had made a reservation for the dining room and not the patio, blaming me for messing up. I took out my phone and showed him that my reservation clearly said patio. He then said, "oh, they must have changed it on our end then after you made it." It is absolutely unacceptable during a PANDEMIC for a restaurant to unilaterally change an outdoor reservation to an indoor reservation WITHOUT ADVISING THE PATRON who made the reservation. I understand that private events come up and that restaurants do not have it easy these days, but if you will be unable to seat someone with a patio reservation outdoors, give them the courtesy of a heads-up instead of telling them they did something wrong. I had a few friends who had come all the way across town and were not pleased. I like Surfside a lot, but I do hope they change this practice going forward and offer me an apology. read more

I'll have to give this place another chance, but first experience was bad. Food was mediocre and service was very poor. Waitress took our order, then we didn't see her again until we needed check. I asked 4 different people to have her come back for a 2nd drink order. I was done eating by the time she got back and my 2nd drink arrived she finally asked if everything was ok. She looked at dumbfounded when I told her I had been waiting 20 minutes for a drink order, never said sorry, etc. the place was not busy and she only had one other table. Enchiladas (shrimp and spinach) "Barbados" were bland. On a good note, my wife enjoyed her fried chicken tacos. Margarita was so so. All in all, a underwhelming 1st visit. read more

Let me tell you, this area NEEDS a spot like this! I decided to venture out of confinement to grab some food and spotted Surfside's 24hour taco bar. There was a pretty hefty line with other likeminded folks. Considering all that's going on with the Coronavirus etc... I was SO impressed with how the staff handled the crowd. There was a 10min wait just to order (that's how slammed they were) - but whoever was operating the cash register had such a sense of humor and was very accommodating, even offering those who'd been waiting for a while and were of age, free margaritas. The food was delicious...I highly recommend the neves...and the margarita was delicious. SO happy this spot finally opened up. Looking forward to going back read more

Ordered the Cabo steak tacos to go -- all seemed well on the menu, typical taco with onions, cilantro, even guacamole. Description said the tacos came on flour tortillas and while I usually prefer corn I decided not to make any changes to the tacos. Then I got my order. At that point I understood why they used flour tortillas. The tacos was overflowing with toppings. Usually that would be a good thing, but between the astronomical levels of salt they must use while cooking their steak, their runny guacamole and sour cream that drench the taco plus thick cut onions, red and green peppers on and cilantro, it was chaos in a bite. The salt from the steak overpowered everything and there was way too much guac and sour cream. Their rice, which came under the tacos, was amazing. The strawberry lemonade was also pretty good. read more

Surf side Benedict is fantastic - the eggs were perfectly cooked and topped it off with a spicy margarita (good cool drink).

Food is good. Owner I know and value. But my god what horrible, high school waiters. Rarely do they service your table. It took 8 minutes to get a menu with only 3 tables occupied. Adolescent server brings us the check after I gave him the credit card and then asks if we need anything else.... I can provide 4 other examples of horrid service. Until COVID ends, get take away or stay away. read more

We've dined here three times this summer and the experience has been amazing! First, their new location is super nice with free parking and plenty of appropriately distanced. What happened? Surfside used to be a passably good casual dining restaurant, but we had a terrible experience last night with bad food, unbearable din, and a horrible singer. The tacos were really bad, with dry, crispy pork cubes, tasteless brisket, and tough corn tortillas. You had the impression the meat had been sitting around for hours, if not days. The brisket taco had a fried tortilla (not noted on the menu) which made it only tougher. The singer was inexpressibly bad but with an amplifier simply added to the din of a full-capacity patio. No wonder the server got our drinks order wrong -- she couldn't hear them. We have gone to Surfside for years, including patio dining last summer during the pandemic. You have to think there's new management or a new chef or both for deterioration of this magnitude. We will never go back and recommend to people to stay away. read more
