A decent walk from downtown Tofino but worth it! The Tofino Brewing taproom has more than a dozen…read morebeers on tap with both classic and adventurous beer. I got a flight of the glowing embers ale, kelp stout, dark lager, and spruce tree ale. Dark beers are usually my favourite, but my favourite out of this batch might have actually been the glowing embers, which was described as a candied smoked ale. The caramelly/smoky combination was great. The kelp stout was interesting - I found it had a slightly vegetal finish but wasn't overtly kelpy. If you like stouts, you'll probably like this. All the beers were very enjoyable. The spruce tree ale and kelp stout are probably the two to try if you want something uniquely local. The Japanese street food truck outside was also fantastic! You can grab food from them and bring it inside the brewery. They also have bar snacks (pretzels, chips) inside. The building is cool. There are front and back patios, a spacious main floor, and a hidden, cozier second floor. The bartender that served me was very friendly. I noticed that the staff was very diligent about clearing tables inside but not so much outside, I saw a table on the patio that had abandoned empty glasses sitting on it when I went out to pick up my food truck order and still there when I left.

Bar service was very happy to recommend a few things for our tastes and we got to try some great beers. Aside from the experience I love the commitment this brewery has to sustainment with water care initiatives, partnering with farms to use their spent grain and leveraging hydro power.

The entire place felt elevated but cozy - our table was upstairs under beautiful wooden beams and big windows overlooking the town. The vibe was lively but not too loud on a Tuesday evening. Service started out wonderfully and we regularly received fresh table settings between courses, however we had a switch in waitstaff later in the meal and it was incredibly slow at the end. No big deal since we weren't in a rush but something to note that it could be hit or miss. The food, on the other hand, was 100% on point. We ordered the potato crusted oyster appetizer and I was blown away - innovative and delicious. For my main, I got the halibut in a curry sauce that was just perfection. My friends tried the sea board, seaweed salad, and scallop gratin, and loved all of it. This meal was a highlight of our vacation.

And of course there are TV's. They were a little busy when I visited on a Monday night but you didn't need a reservation to be seated right away. The service was good. My waitress was very friendly. While the food wasn't lightning fast, it took less time than I expected to get my entree after ordering given that they seemed busy, and my dessert came out very quickly. I had: Foragers martini: This tasted exactly as you would expect from the name. Spruce-flavoured anything was not actually in the ingredient list, but I would describe the flavour of the cocktail as "sprucey". It was pleasantly strong. Grilled wild sockeye salmon: My first thought was that this was a small portion for the price, but the huge plate was deceiving and this was actually a very satisfying serving with a large cut of salmon and a healthy heaping of farro salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly - I loved how the skin got crispy and flaky. The farro salad was hearty and delicious on its own or with the salmon, and the pickled fennel and the orange coulis were interesting compliments to enhance the dish. Chocolate basque cheesecake: I was going to choose this anyway, but my waitress also recommended it. This was a great basque cheesecake - rich with a slightly burnt crust. The candied hazelnut brittle totally elevated it. The slice was big enough to share, but it was really good and surprisingly not too heavy, so I finished it by myself easily. It was so expensive though... I was staying at the hotel so I got 10% off food, and even then I spent $80 after tip! I knew it was going to be expensive and decided to treat myself since it was my last night in Tofino, but I think without the 10% I would've gone somewhere else anyway. Even with the whole "elevated" thing and acknowledging that the food and drink was not at all what I would consider typical sports bar food, it felt so bad to spend $80 on one person at a place calling itself as a sports bar.

We appreciate the server wasn't a dan of the chill so it took a while for our food to come. We recommend sitting inside unless it's a hot summers day. We initially went to Tough city sushi but I wasn't pleased with the "take these menu and seat yourself - and only take the 2-person seater". The service here was amazing in comparison. Life is too short for shitty service. This place I would recommend. Food and Service are worth it.

Decent beer, friendly service and surprisingly nice views…read more This is an above average, but not amazingly good little brewpub in a cute town. The normal selection of beer is a pretty good flight of typical beers. The party wave hazy IPA from the normal line up stood out as both true to the style and very good. Not too sweet either. The featured limited release tap while we were there was the Brewmaster's Keep imperial stout aged on bourbon soaked oak (but apparently not actually in bourbon barrels). That was really fantastic, creamy and with just hints of bourbon sweetness. Our family of four was lucky enough to have the wrap-around table in the window looking out over the harbor and at the mountains, which was a great view. The food was about the same, but maybe a notch below the beer. I really enjoyed the beet, kale and feta salad, but the Reuben sliders my wife got weren't quite as good and the portions were on the small side. They had vanishingly little food for kids and even the "kids mac and cheese" wound up with onions in it and my son didn't eat it. They did make a bowl of plain rice for my daughter which she ate and they ate the chips that came with the Reuben sliders. The service was attentive and friendly the whole time and they had all the beers they had on tap also to go in cans.

We were pleasantly surprised by a small, but nice brewpub with board games to boot. They didn't have any tables for four because of reservations, but we were able to sit at the bar and set our kids up with a game of Battleship while we had some beer and food. The beer wasn't world class, but also didn't disappoint. The unicycle sour IPA, was my standout, but the porter and monster mash IPA were also good. The rest were fine, but not amazing. The food was (if anything) better than the beer. The plain cheese pizza my son got was good and had nicely browned cheese all over. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side, but not unpleasantly so. I'd probably lean more into pizza next time even if it's a bit too carb heavy. The spuds (potato wedges) were only OK. I got the Thai chicken salad, which was spicy with great greens and good chicken. Nice and fresh. My wife seemed to be less enamored of her bahn mi burger, but still said it was good. The service was attentive and happy to accommodate us and our kids. Would definitely come again.
