A complete flop of an experience. Nice looking place inside the black rock resort. The nice ended there. Drinks were overly sweet. Food was meh. Fish and chips - cod was so greasy. Watermelon salad dressing was thin and tasted weak. Worst of all was the service. Totally forgot to enter our orders. Had to ask for appetizer plates twice. They took silverware and didn't replace. Had to ask for more. By the time we left we were eager to just have leave and never look back. And all this with a cavalier "you're lucky we even let you enter here" kind of attitude. Needless to say, not recommended. Always like to spend my money at places that feel like they have to earn it. read more

Pricing very reasonable for this outstanding food! The deep-fried Ling Cod is as good as it gets: fried in FRESH oil, thinly battered, and cooked to just the right done-ness so it was tasty, flaky, and not greasy. As good as any halibut we've had anywhere, including fresh off the boat in Alaska. Four of us ate there and were all raving about what we had. Geoff Johnson was the entertainer the evening we were there, who played a variety of wonderful songs and played them well, all by himself. read more

Probably the most romantic bar to be in Ukee. Great views, with tables both indoors or outdoors. Nice dim lighting. High end decor. Great attentive service. I only had a root beer, so can't comment on the cocktails. For food, I only had the Qualicum Clams. It is under the "snacks" section, but the portion is big enough for a light dinner. Super delicious, some of the best clams I've ever had. Fresh, big, and juicy, with a nice tomato based sauce. Not cheap at $18, but considering the portion size, environment, views, and great service it felt like a bargain. Especially in an expensive place like Ukee. read more

Since Ucleulet doesn't have many restaurants, my family were stuck on eating at the hotel. The day before, we ate at Fetch which is right beside the lounge. It was too expensive and not worth it, so we decided to eat at Float. There was a full room and not enough servers, we were waiting for a while before someone greeted us. We were sat at a high table with stools, not the most comfortable considering many others were sitting in couches, but it was the earliest table so it had to do. I even had to ask someone for water and table cutlery which was unbelievable. The menu has more casual and comfort food such as burgers and salads. My family chose to share some food. I ordered the nachos with no olives, (FYI: guac is extra for $5!! And I thought chipotle was bad!). The nachos were great and the chips weren't store bought tortilla chips but looked like they made it themselves. The toppings could've been more layered because once I ate the top, I was left with plain chips to dip in salsa and sour cream. Salsa was so good, had a spicy kick to it and they gave a lot of it too. The calamari was meh, it looked like it had been covered in batter, but it was thin and crispy which was good. But it had no flavour and they could've given more tzaziki sauce. Cesear salad was not fresh, and had too much sauce which made it very salty. Honey Garlic chicken wings were horrible. Chicken was fresh, but it was COVERED in honey, like they didn't add anything else! I asked for hot sauce so we could atleast taste another flavour but it made no difference. Table beside us had been there longer than we have and it took an HOUR for their dishes to arrive which is too long. Not a surprise since the food all came from the same kitchen which is the kitchen at Fetch. It was better than Fetch, but wasn't all great. I had high hopes for this hotel because I thought we could at least get some decent food in a more remote area. But I am left slightly disappointed. read more

Great bar with gorgeous view (better than the restaurant I thought) and great selections of drinks. Loved the electric unicorn a local and tasty brew for summer days. The servers and bartenders were awesome, they celebrated my birthday with me and offered a wonderful cheesecake dessert on the house. I have to give this lounge 5 stars for the fantastic view but they do fall short on the cocktails, food and service. The staff is wonderful but they didn't refill my water the entire dinner which they had even pointed out themselves but then never came back to fill it up. My mom ordered a cocktail which tasted heavily like rosemary - with agave syrup or simple syrup it would have been much better. I ordered a Tofino Brewing Blonde Ale which was crisp and refreshing. We had the Ceasar salad - the dressing was delicious but on top their was fried prosciutto that was super salty, and you had to break it up so you didn't eat a ball of salt at once. Great place to grab a beer and has a dog friendly patio. Staff is extremely friendly here and I will definitely be going back for food. So I went back @ 8:30pm and was told the kitchen is closed as they ran out of food. I guess that's good for them but not for the customers expecting them open till 10:00pm like they say they are. read more

Looking for a quiet place with a view of the ocean to have a drink and a quick dinner. The bar/lounge had great views from every table. Place was not overly noisy so it was easy to have a conversation There were 4 of us. We ordered a burger, shrimp tacos, surf and turf combo and salmon over rice. Each dish was well prepared and portions were adequate. Our server was efficient and attentive. Prices were very reasonable. read more

Overpriced for mediocre food. The one highlight was the seafood chowder, the rest of the food was overcooked. Ate here twice during our stay to give it a chance...same result. Service was friendly but slow. read more

Great restaurant/lounge if your staying At black rock resort. Affordable and beautiful views of the waves crashing against the rocks! They had a "sips and bites" menu 3-6pm kind of like happy hour so you don't feel like your spending a fortune on dining and still feel luxurious. read more

Float is more of a bar than a restaurant, but it shows up under restaurants, too, on here. So, i'm reviewing it as a bar because i think it's ratings are probably dragged down by rich jerks who like to bitch about everything. (Disclaimer: not all rich people are jerks. Venn diagram to follow). Located inside a really nice hotel / resort, Float is likely frequented primarily by guests. I'd highly recommend stopping here for drinks even if you're not staying at the resort. It has a great beer selection, friendly staff, and one of the best ocean views I've seen from a bar. Go have a drink, you won't be disappointed. read more

A little long on the wait but good food. Kids had pasta which they loved. My wife and I had fish and chips which was perfect as the batter was not to thick. Service was slower then I like but we are on Vancouver island and no one is in a hurry. :-) would recommend if you have kids as the views are great. Keeps the kids busy looking out. read more

We had previously tried the dinner at Fetch, and decided to go a bit more casual with a trip to the Float Lounge (the spelling is correct but dang that looks weird!). I was expecting to find some menu similarities between the two, but it's a completely separate menu which was a nice surprise! We had the burger and beer specials ($17 for a double bacon beef burger and local beer from Tofino), and that is a damn good burger, son! It was a fairly thick patty, but still super juicy and flavourful - and how do you go wrong with double bacon? Plus, the view in the lounge surpasses the view at Fetch in my opinion! It's absolutely stunning. My only complaint was that getting our bill took over half an hour. Still. The food. The view. Will be returning next time we're in Ucluelet! read more

Very nice atmosphere and ambiance; scenery was astounding... service was decent. The food left a bit to be desired : while the salads were fresh and well put together, they were under dressed to the point of being dry and tasteless. We also had the salt and pepper dry ribs which were strange and ham like. Fish n chips: Fries were hard, fish was soggy. We had to request extra dressing to properly dress the salad.. Dressing was tasty. All our party felt disappointment that the food didn't match the decor and view. A hair was found in the ribs. read more

Had a great lunch at Fetch so did dinner at Float, didn't even feel like the same resort. Fetch was great, views, food, and staff were great. Unfortunately next door at Float things were a bit of a disaster. It seemed that they staff couldn't get their act together, it's never a good sign when you walk into a resto and they are still not sure who is covering which sections. Food was decent, it's same kitchen as the main Dining room but from appy to mains it was well over an hour. I would go again. But just be careful if you have somewhere to be after dinner. read more

We ate here last night and found it to be good and not so good which I guess averages out to OK. We ordered three menu items which we planned to share. The calamari arrived first and was a very small portion. But, in addition, it was composed mostly of small broken pieces of calamari. It looked like the bottom of a bag of calamari was dumped into a deep fryer, so we had tiny pieces of mostly breading. Not only that, the dish was tasteless. Even the dip (can't call it aioli) was bland. We had to add salt in order for there to be any flavour. Never, ever, had to do that with calamari. So we were not impressed at all. The fish and chips was quite good and the Cajun Prawn Mac and cheese was ok. Really just mac and cheese topped with fried prawns sprinkled with Cajun spice. It was a bit dry tasting as you could occasionally feel/taste the powdered spice in your mouth. The food was a bit disappointing considering it comes from the same kitchen as the more upscale Fetch. We were going to do Fetch tonight but have changed that plan. The place has a very nice atmosphere; laid back and wave themed, but the tables are a bit big and I noticed some people having to speak quite loudly even in the quiet environment to be heard by their dining companions. It doesn't really have the intimacy of a lounge....more like a pub/lounge crossover. Service was good but, as mentioned in other reviews, slow and a bit inattentive. An hour and half for takeout!! And even then when we got it, it was still cold. Honestly this resort is horrible.

Seriously overpriced for their too small portion sizes. We ate "dinner " there and then went to the local co-op and bought the rest of the meal. Want a tip? Buy dinner at the co-op and sit outside having a picnic rather than eat here. read more
