After a long day of tile shopping & talking to people who really didn't have any interest in helping us find a tile or design our remodel we found Surfaces USA & Pam by accident & are so happy we did! We all know the famous State College row of floor and kitchen remodel places and the endless choices there are. I felt like kid in a candy store. But certainly overwhelmed. After several episodes of horrible customer service, I finally found this place. Jennifer helped us out both days we went and made us feel comfortable and not pressured whatsoever. We decided on two beautiful slabs of quartzite when she gave us a very competitive quote and we couldn't turn it down. Here's the reason for the four stars. The slabs were in San Diego and had to get transferred over. It took a few days, of course but we were willing to wait. Well, they came in and they were not of similar pattern (lot). So we had to turn them down. That only delayed our kitchen remodel and we were not happy about it. A few more days passed by before we found out they did not go in the truck and another one had to be sent to pick them up. Frustrating. At the end of the day, everyone makes mistakes and we were still happy we chose Surfaces USA. I'll definitely shop here again. Your customer service distinguished you from the rest. read more

Surfaces USA - Calcatta White Quartzite counters - Flooring Near Me - Anaheim, California

I bought a Bauformat Vanity because I liked the unique curved shape. It was not cheap. Total cost was $2,656. I was told at the time of purchase, in June, the vanity would not be delivered for several months because the factory workers in Germany take off the entire month of July. After buying it, the problems started. I was told that rather than arrive in September as I was told, it would now arrive in October. When it finally arrived I asked for and was provided with several Bauformat approved installers (which are required for installation to maintain warrantee protection). When I called these people they either didn't call back, or told me they were too busy to instal my vanity. When I complained to the Bauformat retailer, Surfaces USA, rather than find a responsible installer for me, they told me that I would have to sign a waiver form. The waiver was demanded since I was going to have to have a non Bauformat installer install my vanity - because there was no Bauformat approved installer available, or in existence. Because of this situation, beyond my control, they wanted to get out responsibility and have me state that I understood the warranty did not apply. I was told by the owner of Surfaces USA I would have to sign the waiver before they would allow me to take possession of my previously paid for vanity. When I objected to their demand they relented and said I could pick it up. Their delays cost me another several weeks of waiting. It was then late November. I contacted a representative at Bauformat (Eric) to ask about specific instructions for installation since they were incapable of providing a so called "Bauformat approved" installer. He was not interested in helping me find a "Bauformat approved" installer. He was exceptionally rude and condescending. In an angry impatient voice he told me, "I have never had to talk to a customer in 11 years!" I told him I would pick up the vanity and have it installed myself. He told me the vanity had to be installed "the German way". I asked him if he could provide instructions for installation, which he never provided. When the vanity was picked up from their warehouse (in Southgate), not Anaheim where I purchased it, the box had a very nice booklet with instructions - IN GERMAN. For the amount I paid, I expected better customer service from all involved. What I received was obstruction, rudeness, and un-professionalism. I went to Surfaces USA to pick out tile for my bathroom remodel. I met with both Ani and Chris, and I can honestly not say enough good things about their customer service. The first time I met them, they spent hours trying to understand my vision for the bathroom and pick out tiles they thought would help bring it to life. Ani is especially gifted when it comes to design, and she really helped make my ideas a reality. The quality of the tiles is fabulous! I ended up going with white glass subway tiles for my shower, and a porcelain for the bench top and recessed shampoo. I also got porcelain hexagon tiles for the floor, and they are so beautiful!! Ani spent a lot of time finding me the perfect glass tile trim for my shower and did not stop looking until she found something I loved. Would have been a 5, but had to have too many readjustments to the cabinet doors. When ever there was a problem, Zack was on it. If not him, Chris would see to it that someone would get back to us. Zack dreamed up a galley kitchen to be an open air kitchen with lots of space and a peninsula, which we only dreamed of. The back splash was 14x51" porcelain pieces, which took my contractor by surprise, but Ray was able to pull it off with just ONE bead of sweat. This made the kitchen appear even larger. AND the porcelain tiles for the floor were a perfect match, all due to Zack's discerning eye and excellent taste and direction in design. Of course there were a few disappointments along the way, then again, that's the remodeling biz.... But he was right on time with my contractor doing the demo work and cabinets being put together and the final touches. Zack also worked well with my contractor and made many visits to us in Long beach. We would definitely go back to him for design ideas, consulting and products. read more

My in laws remodeled their guest bathroom and she knew the exact measurements to the tee. Beyond this...the staff is so wonderful and attentive, they're very busy at times and you have to wait to speak to a consultant, but boy are they good (it's worth the wait). We have been so very impressed with Cherish Fox-Dickenson and Mike Contois at Surfaces, USA. It was the first and only countertop/tile company that we entered and it was the only one that we contracted out to for our kitchen/laundry room countertops, floor tiles, backsplash subway tiles, bathroom floor tiles, shower tiles, and shower floor tiles. Cherish took an extraordinary amount of time to give us her detailed assessment of the type of design that would match our needs. She has such an amazing eye for design. We were so impressed by the outcome of the ultimate design, style, detailed workmanship, and incredible cost savings. We would never have chosen the tasteful and modern design that Cherish had in mind, thinking that we needed to conform to others. The gray subway tiles that she matched and offered were gorgeous and we continue to get compliment after compliment over the high end look of all the pieces together. The amount of time that their crew members took to install the tiles was unbelievably detailed and back-breakingly time consuming, but they believed in creating the best craftsmanship. We implicitly trust Cherish Fox-Dickenson and Mike Contois, the owner of Surfaces, USA, and will hire them again for our other two bathrooms. Ani and Chris (new owner) are the best! Ani spend a lot of time with me assisting with me with the designs, and everyone that has seen the work goes "WOW" when they see my bathrooms and kitchen. Even my contractor told me I should be his designer, when actually it should be credited to Ani helping to design it so beautifully and steered me away from making bad choices. Even my tiling guys said my bathrooms were one of their favorite projects to work on. She has a passion for design and it shows in the results! In a sea of tile and stone suppliers Surfaces USA is by far the best. Spent hours if not days visiting dozens of tile suppliers on State College Blvd. Visited Surfaces USA twice, and realized there was a serious difference between their customer service and knowledge base and so many of the other suppliers. I think both experience and time invested makes them better. Chris is the top of the food chain in tile and materials for your home. But his staff is just as good. We talked to Pablo and at least 3 other team members...everyone is spot on. My suggestion is not to look for a tile that you like but look for a team that can listen long enough to help you find what is needed. Now to the art of listening. ....nothing is easier than asking a question and having an instant response of "I know just what you're looking for"...unfortunately that quick solution is generally not correct. What is needed is more questions ...the more questions you are asked the better the solution will be. SO many salespeople want the quick fix, but don't dig deep enough to increase the likelihood of success. This is where we were able to get magnificent results. This place robbed me. I ordered Italian calacutta marble and they swapped it our with cheaper Chinese marble when my designer and her team went to pick up. They also informed me that that can call any marble Calaculla and name it, though in may be carerra marble or worse. They have a very unethical way of conduction business. I would stay far way. Feel free to reach out to me if you are going to consider doing business with this place. UPDATE TO THE SURFACES RESPONSE: Because it is "common practice" in the industry to deceive customers, it doesn't mean that you need to as well. Your job should be to educate customers, not deceive. All you have to do is google "Calacutta Marble" and you will see the bait and switch which happened at this company. I was provided low grade Chinese marble instead of the $8,000 I spent on Italian marble. Your own employees were ASHAMED of your business practice. I HAVE IT RECORDED ON A HIDDEN VIDEO, of your employee saying you RIPPED ME OFF. To my friends on Yelp, GO TO BEDROSIANS, save money and get a higher quality product. After shopping around at nearly every flooring warehouse and online vendor you can imagine, my wife and I ended up stopping into Surfaces USA to see what they had to offer. I was shopping for tumbled travertine and after researching and shopping around we knew what we wanted. I walked in and immediately saw it on their wall. All we had to do now was discuss the job, price, and how soon they could have it delivered. Jeff was very professional and knowledgeable which made doing business with them a pleasure. After taking delivery of nearly 2000 Sq ft of travertine, my installer noticed a few packages were not the exact same product. Jeff located the correct material and personally drove them to our house which is at least 40 minutes each way! That is what I call customer service! I have since recommended them to friends also doing some improvements. Great products at great prices! read more

If you don't really know what type of stone/tile to go with for a bath/kitchen remodel, the designers are there to hear you. Fortunately for us, we had some idea of what we wanted for a statement wall, but no idea what to do because there were some many options available. We went through the various stone retailers/wholesalers and none had the stone display that helped us visualize our space like Surfaces did. The prices aren't cheap but they aren't as expensive as next door or Bedrosians for the quality and style of their product. We paid about 11/sq ft for some decorative tile for one wall (which we saw elsewhere for nearly $20/sq ft) I'd come back for tile for a back splash or another statement wall. Unfortunately, we were going to use them for floors, but the prices were more competitive elsewhere. read more

From my first step inside, I've had nothing but great service from the team here. Price wise - they are competitive. My husband is a bargain hunter and after looking at quite a few other stores, we ended up buying our quartz and granite countertops and tile floors here. Service - we mainly worked w the GM Jeff and he was great. Friendly, informative, professional. He really sold us. A lot of the other places were either snooty or uninterested in making a sale. Jeff was always 'how can I help you?' his attitude was the main reason we bought here and also why we went w his guys re our countertop installation. Though we could have gone elsewhere and saved some money, we trusted Jeff. This instinct bore us well as we ended up having some issues w 2 of our countertops. Bc my husband and i can be incredibly anal about certain things, those issues had the potential to become a nightmare. In the end, jeff, ever the true professional, came through for us!! Selection - these guys have a lot of stuff but it always help to look around. Porcelanosa next door is good for ideas as well as stonestudio down the street. If they can, these guys can also try to get you what you want from other stores or do some legwork and give you similar options Overall - we are definitely going to be repeat customers when we start our bathroom renovations next year. to those barely starting, try these guys out!! As an aside - they mainly have 3 design consultants. If you are a walk in and not patient, waiting for help can be annoying. We never did nor have to do this, but I would suggest making an appt if your time is precious. read more

Initial service and installation of my quartz countertops were fine. However, after completion I was charged double what my balance was supposed to be. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! I have pictures of kitchen drawers that won't open, cabinets that hit the countertop, seams in the MIDDLE of the peninsula countertop with unmatched quartzite on either side, chunks missing on the bathroom wall tile, and diamond inserts that are all different sizes and shapes. I worked with Val after everyone else quit. He and the local executive agreed that the installation was terrible and substandard. The installer did the work on a Saturday with no supervision (or apparently, skill). Trash was left in the garage and all over the yard. Door jambs were cut off at different heights and had to be replaced. I tried to get relief through Visa, but Surfaces refused to do the right thing. When I asked for a quote for demolition of the kitchen counter top, Val quoted me $3000: I paid a reputable company $300. I'm now paying for materials that had to be removed, installations that were done extremely shoddy, demolition of Surfaces' work, repurchase of materials, and new installation. ON top of that, they delayed the rest of the renovation work by about 2 months due to lack of installers and repeatedly having to order new tile (they did the original materials estimates). I also have 15 bags of unused grout still in my garage from Surfaces' over-ordering. They deny all responsibility for their poor work. DO NOT ALLOW THESE PEOPLE INTO YOUR HOME. read more

Surfaces took my $2,000 cash and then hours before my scheduled install (10 days after purchase) they call me to inform me of a defect on the slab & want me accept a different slab or wait another 10+ days. Hmmm.. Bait and switch maybe? I didn't want something else. I want the slab choice I purchased 10 days ago! Now as I sit here waiting for my refund more than 2 hours after it was requested and they try to give me a check. Ummm, wait a minute I gave you cash and you now want to switch the form of payment too? As a business owner working with 1000's of customers a year we know not to break promises and to give the customer what they purchased. We're here to serve our clients and provide a service without wasting people's time & disrespecting them with "store policy" & CPA doesn't like it bologna they pull out of the sky. I'm still waiting for my cash refund. Will post an update if any other shenanigans surface at SURFACE. But for now. I sit and wait. read more

There isn't enough too be said about Surfaces USA. They carry more unique products than any of the other shops in the area. We spent an entire day walking up and down tile row on St. College and only at SUSA did we say 'this is it'. The staff helped us through the whole process and worked with us too make sure we were truly happy. When there was a delay on our kitchen remodel they held our granite without issue. We were so happy with them that we went back to them for the back splash. Any future work we have done will be through Surfaces USA. read more

We ended up at Surfaces USA and met Teri who helped us with choosing a great backsplash and flooring design. She took her time with us and we did not feel rushed to make a choice or to buy. Picking the right tiles and flooring for a kitchen can be daunting and tiresome, but Teri is a true design professional and with her knowledge and experience, it made picking our tile and flooring choices simple. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Picking tile can be so overwhelming especially these days with so many options. When I walked into Surfaces USA I had no idea what I wanted but I wanted it to be perfect. The selection was amazing and since there are so many choices out there you want to feel like you are getting a chance to see all those options. I met Ani and immediately she "got me." We started with wood flooring and went from there to countertops and then tile. I had no idea I was going to tackle it ALL. She was so patient and had so many great ideas that were inline with my taste, some even out of my comfort zone which I now love! She is truly gifted at her job. When I left, hours later I didn't feel overwhelmed but rather I was so excited. I had a great time, I knew everything was going to be MORE THAN perfect AND I made a new friend. I have since been back to Surfaces USA (I can't stay away) to pick more tile and I can say that everyone there has been so professional, extremely helpful and very nice. Absolutely refreshing to do business with a company like Surfaces USA. I had granite counter tops installed last year. I called Surfaces USA and set up an appointment to come and look at their selection. I had already received bids from 3 other contractors but was told by a friend to give them a look before make a decision. From the very beginning everything went so smooth. I am not really good at picking out designs but the manager Chris suggested I bring photographs of my kitchen for comparison. After looking at the type of oak in my house he directed me to several different slabs of granite that would be appropriate. I would never have thought to choose a black granite but it looks amazing and everyone who sees it for the first time comments on how amazing it looks and asks where I bought it. After I made my choice we went over pricing and I was blown away by how competitive they were. The installation timeline worked perfectly and in over 20 years of dealing with home improvement contractors they were the cleanest and always punctual. read more
