Sidebar is always a solid spot! We enjoyed their burger and chicken sandwich. Our waitress was 10/10!! Patio seating is busy since it's right near the street so we typically like to sit at the bar instead, but either way you'll have a great meal!

Love love love this place! The staff are always so friendly and helpful. It feels like an upscale neighborhood joint. They def know their regular's names. With its literal connection to Surdyk's, the drink and eatables are always changing. Loved our drinks, charcuterie board and chicken sandwich!!! The lighting, decor and seating is swanky too. Outdoor streetside patio during the warmer months and the front windows are a garage door that can be opened as well!!

Didn't realize it was only the snack menu until 5pm lol got the cheese curds + bread and butter. Both delicious.

Hummus plate (crudités), arancini, and broccolini

I absolutely love this restaurant. I've been twice and brunch and twice for dinner. The cocktails are unique and tasty, and the food is always amazing. I'm pescatarian and there are a lot of veggie forward options to choose. My favorites are the hummus crudities plate (it's not boring I promise!), fondue, mussels, and the broccolini. The ambiance is intimate and cozy, but it can get a bit loud due to how many people are seated in the smaller space.

Enjoyed my first impromptu visit for a late night dinner. I split the cheeseburger, chicken sandwich, and a side of fries. The chicken sandwich was my favorite. The bun was chewy and served warm. Really made the sandwich top notch. The breaded chicken was seasoned well and was actually crunchy throughout the last bite. The fries were good, but the standout part was the garlic aioli. We will definitely be back!

This place is a hidden gem! Really good food and delicious drinks. I have had the burger here a few times. It's not overly fancy just a well executed burger. The fries are really good as well. The Easy Breezy drink was a special using Trakal Patagonian spirit which was a featured tasting inside the Surdyks store that day. It was super refreshing. The Desert Bloom was ridiculously good. Sotol is not used much at most bars so I was excited to see it featured in a cocktail here. Our server was very attentive and had great recommendations. We will be back!

Breakfast Sandwich

We stopped in for a late lunch. It was okay. Everything was average. The Turkey sandwich barely had any Brie cheese and was somewhat dry. The breakfast sandwich was okay but not very warm when served. A hotter version would have tasted better. The Milk Chocolate Tart was the highlight and we added ice cream.

Came here for some cocktails and light bites and was pleasantly surprised. Although on the pricier side, everything we tried was delicious! My friends got the charcuterie board for $30 which came with lots of different cheeses, meets, sourdough crackers, spreads, chocolate and walnut toffee. I got the fries with ketchup and aioli, for $8 there were not that many but the rest of the menu is expensive so I understand. Definitely a hidden gem and we will be back!

This place never fails to disappoint! I stopped in for a late night dinner on Friday. I love the copper bar and small feel in the restaurant. I ordered my "go-to" - the cheeseburger. Make sure to get the dijonaise sauce! I don't typically care for Dijon or Mayo, but this sauce is kind of magic! This burger is a contender for one of the best in Minneapolis.

We decided to check out the restaurant inside the cafe. Came here once and was in a hurry to get back to work, purchased a sandwich and noticed there's a restaurant. Small restaurant, but has sidewalk dining area. Check in at the bar and the servers will seat you. I'm a big fan of devil eggs, so I had to order those. Service was great, my server checked on us quite often.

It wasn't very busy... it was around 6:30. I stood at the bar. 3 different people looked at me but didn't ask me if I needed anything. After standing around for 5 minutes I finally flagged down a bartender to ask to see a menu. Bar area was open. We sat down. A host came over and said "you need to check in at the stand" which we didn't know because we went in on the cheese shop area. First timer. My friend was super excited to try the deviled eggs... $10 for 1 1/3 egg lol it was very salty. No other taste I could identify. The beer tartare was ok. Crab pasta was decent. Service was decent. I needed water which I couldn't seem to find our server until we finished our meal.

the Practical Magic

The cocktails we had were delicious and our server was super friendly! My only critique is that they were on the small side for the price. The Tokyo Riff (vodka) and the Practical Magic (gin) were my favorites of the night. I would go back to try food. If would recommend making a reservation at happy hour or other busy times, because the place was hopping and even trying to find a non-bar spot for two people early in the evening was a logistics challenge (thank you to our server who let us bounce between open tables!)

Old Fashioned and Side Peach

Stopped in on a Saturday night around 8pm. We immediately got seated at the bar. I loved the warm lighting, industrial accents, leather. We just wanted a cocktail--got the Old Fashioned and the Side Peach. They came quickly and drank easy. Will be back to try the food menu which looks delish!

The drinks are really good. Too good. Not mad about the food either. Fun atmosphere. Always busy when I've gone or walked by.

Great cocktails, apps, and entrees. Menu is small but this is a small, intimate place. Pricey but you aren't going there for a value meal.

They have some of the best iced lattes I have tried in the twin cities! I typically get an iced miel and it is always made perfectly here. Pricing is very reasonable for the area. All of the pastries have always been delicious as well. A quick, easy spot to get coffee that you wouldn't immediately think about.

Located in the Northeast neighborhood of Minneapolis, Surdyk's Liquor and Cheese is an institution,…read morestarted as a liquor and grocery store in 1934, moving to this location in 1979. Now run by third-generation owners, it expanded to retailing fine wine and cheeses as well. I stopped in to buy some house gifts, and was pleasantly surprised by its very large selection of products, displayed in a way that it was enjoyable to do some 'window shopping'. In my case, I focused on the whiskey's and found what I was hoping for (from the Nikka distillery, a place I had visited a long time ago). But surprisingly it carried American made whiskey (in this case, from the Seattle area) for a price that was lower than what I had paid when actually visiting the distillery itself. I took the time to walk around a bit, noticing that they had an entire section devoted to just German and Austria wines. (Would have been shocked to find wines from Luxembourg, which is on my list). There were also a large beer refrigerated room, as big as any I've seen at big retailers. Of course, it had the beers from the Midwest that are hard to find where I live now (Leinenkugel, Hamm's, and Zywiec). Also noticed a small display of cigars, protected behind locked glass. Ended up getting two Westland Single Malt 750ml for $56.99 each. Checkout was identical to any large liquor store chain (like a grocery store checkout with employees who do checkout and are not really knowledgeable about the products sold).

Has an iconic 50's vibe where wood paneling and booths are king. You order from the counter, pay at the cashier and find a table to consume delicacies made for kings. The Polish Pierogies are amazing a stuff full of meat and tender beyond belief. The Hungarian Goulash is amazing with tasty chunks of beef that is both tender and flavorful coupled with veggies that melt in your mouth. The Cabbage rolls are also very hefty and packed full of flavor. The only complaint (not really) is the huge amount of choices readily available for diners. Making decisions and controlling oneself will prove very difficult. The bakery is heavenly with fruit filled Danishes that caress the taste buds. The highlight is the Napoleanka Custard cake/pie which is one of the best tasting desserts known in history! The flaky crust coupled by the enormous amount of custard filling makes this an impossible item to resist. Kramarczuk's is a staple and cannot be missed!

Grab a tray and order whatever you want then pay at the end. You might want to save a table too before you lineup. It was everything we expected and more. 2 friends joined us and between the 4 of is we ordered most of the menu and enjoyed everything, no notes! Our favourites: cabbage roll, the grinder, beet salad, German potato salad and the Kramarczuk Torte. Will be back for sure!

I came yesterday with 3 girl friends to buy some provisions for the Norway vs England soccer FIFA game. Butcher was very helpful with the regular sarcasm they can dish out but I also feel I might have gotten scammed with my cash payment that is required. It could have been my error but something felt strange in our transaction. Then four of us were in the gift store at the check out counter and a gentleman walked in and asked if cash was required for the food just in the coolers right inside the door and the woman answered that in the market it was but I am not sure she answered his actual question. he immediately turned away and left as we all attempted to say they have a cash machine in the store but no mention from the gift store sales person. I felt sorry for him. We all enjoyed our items we did purchase but unfortunately Norway did not win but they did put up a good fight.
