I was trying to get help from a Hispanic lady when every other employee was busy and when she wasn't with a customer and saw I needed help she ignored me and went to the back and never returned. I love this store, just don't love the prices of most of the stuff i would love to have. Hahaha. If u don't know this is a high end kitchen store with all kinds of gadgets and do-dads, some hard to find items also. This location has a cookin school also, so if u need some lessons their there for u. The best part r the employees, they r very helpful and nice to boot. read more

Came here on a Saturday night for a Valentines day cooking class date, the place is lovely and loved the big kitchen and all the kitchen gadgets available for purchase but I just feel like this class is for extreme beginners, everything was just way too simple, which is a great option for people that know nothing about cooking but if you know your way around the kitchen and ingredients, I would not recommend this class. Also you have a shared space with another couple- the place just felt a little crammed up. Nonetheless, the chef and other staff were all very helpful and kind. Also come prepared with time- our class took a bit longer that 2 hours- about 2.5. read more

We did a cooking class with Moses and it was fantastic! We learned so much and the food was amazing! At first I thought the price of the class was a bit high but it was well worth it. You also get a discount on the products after the class too. read more

Came in for Date Nite Cooking class last night. Was the worst teacher ever. I have taken 5-6 cooking classes/date nites with Sur La Table, and last night was the worst ever. They guy teaching should not be there. He was not good at any instruction, did not know the menu, sat back leaning against the counter flipping thru the menu, spouted out orders as if we were supposed to know the recipe that he held in his hands and failed to pass out to anyone, did not check the tables (not all menu items or even a skillet at each station), did not check the temps of the oven or cooktop, did not know how long to cook the steaks (since un-even temp on stove), did not know what raw dough looked like (oven was on 300 degrees, instead of 375 as recipe called for, which we later found out), did not have all spices for each recipe. Steaks - there was no salt at all in the marinade, and they needed it badly. Cooking the steaks, the stovetop was set to different temps. He said Cook it for 6 minutes. Someone asked whether that was per side, he said total. He stood back and let everyone undercook their steaks. When I checked by using the usual steak check method, he said that I could not check that way. Like fricking hell, you can tell a raw steak easily this way, and after checking the table next to me and seeing theirs was raw, I let it ride. Their steak was red on the inside. He failed to check the temp he had the stove set on. After every table started asking about cooking their raw steaks, he said "in the kitchen we usually stick it in the oven to finish cooking it", but most of the tables cooked on the flat iron again. Empanadas - When starting the empanadas, we had all the vegies on the table, and started slicking them up for the filling. We were chopping them up finely, and I guess because we were taking too long, the instructor started telling us to start cooking it. There was no skillet to even start. Once we got the skillet, there were no instructions on even how to start the induction hotplate we had. Then once we got it going, we asked about the setting, and he said "awe, 200 should be fine" for the temp setting. We started sauteeing the vegies, and wanted to make sure the onions were translucent as instructed. They were not, but he still told us to add the cacique chorizo in. Once we put it in along with the spiced in the small cup, we started cooking it. Then the cheese, but we were still trying to cook it so we could make sure it was thoroughly cooked. He kept telling us "its cooked", "Its cooked now" even though it had only been a few minutes. Then he said "that chorizo is pre-cooked". I have cooked enough cacique chorizo and know the packaging says it is "raw meat, cook thoroughly". Empanadas - when it came to them, there were no cutters on the table. He ran around and gave us 2" cutters for our empanadas. They were so small and after handing us a tablespoon to scoop the filling, we quickly found out that they were too small. We asked for a fork to help seal the ends, but it was till little good, and most of the empanadas were so small they held little filling. There was quite a bit of filling left over, and the table next to us started eating the filling by itself. Since we felt the filling was not completely cooked, we did not eat ours. We asked for another skillet and cooked our filling additional time to ensure it was cooked thoroughly. The instructor and helper took our cooking trays and put the empanadas in the oven. After a period of time we were told they were done. Looking at them they did not look done. The recipe which we later saw called for an egg wash to brown the tops, so our tops were very white. Once we grabbed one by the edge, it flopped down. The dough was not cooked, and was very doughy. Every table was asking about the dough, and the instructor did not even bother to look at them, just said "thats the empanada dough, its supposed to be like that". I guess he has never had an empanada before. I grabbed my tray and asked to cook it more, and the other tables immediately added theirs. When I added the trays to the oven, I asked if it was still on and the instructor informed me it was. I checked after about 5 minutes and they were still raw. I checked the oven, and pointed at the dial and asked the instructor "is this saying 300 degrees", and he confirmed it. I turned it up to 400 degrees. After another 10 minutes, they were cooked all the way thru. Normally they will pass out Surveys at the end of the classes. The instructor overheard several tables complaining about the class, and held back on passing them out. He did make a comment about doing better each time he holds a class, but I am not sure how he thinks he can improve if he does not get any feedback. I will end up taking classes again, but if I walk in and find this guy there, I will immediately ask for a refund. He was the worst, and does not belong teaching anyone how to cook. read more

Not really the upscale store they want to be. 1. The selection of utensils is predominately Chinese made, and not that well manufactured. A flimsy coffee measure worth 50 cents was priced $5. The scoop was so poorly welded to the handle I thought it would fall off in my hand. Overpriced for what you get. 2. Cookware seems to the lesser lines from the same brands other stores carry. Not top notch at all. 3. Service is horrible. I've been in this store six times since it opened and service is always slow if you can get it. The checkout is a tedious exercise. Whatever they're doing on the register monitor takes forever to complete. They argue with you if you don't want to reveal your entire personal history to them. 4. Today the store looked like a tornado came through it. Plus it was not well stocked. read more

I am so addicted to their cooking classes now (after just one). It was a full class, so things were a little rushed (helping 16 people cook at one time is hard!). But I learned some really good techniques and how to pan sear a steak to perfection, make a chocolate mousse from scratch, make a delicious aioli, and cook pommel frites! The pricing is expensive, but understood since you are cooking with quality ingredients. If you sign up for another class right afterwards (in store, as of now) it is 20% off. You also get 10% off in store purchases after class. We did this as a bday present for my dad (be warned, if you have a group of 4, get there early so that you can share a station. Each board is 2 people, each station is 4) and he loved it. Rich, our instructor, was amazing. Overall, this makes for a great date night/bday present/anniversary/special occasion night if you are looking for something more than just sitting down at a fancy restaurant! read more

Very grateful to Sur La Table today. I received an expensive grill pan for Christmas that I had barely used until now. The Grill pan is from a reputable manufacturer - we own several of their pieces and never had a problem. Sadly, the pan developed some defects after the second use. It happens. But it happened well after we bought it. Not only did the staff accept the return after so long, but they went way out of their way to find me the specific version and have it shipped to my house. Their service and the gymnastics they went through to make it work were very much appreciated. I will keep going back. So glad to have these folks in my community. read more

Such a fun date night! Italian cooking for couples...love the laid back, relaxed atmosphere! While it did get really rushed at the end and we had to finish the entrees very quickly, it was still a fun time and a great learning experience! Just a tip...bring your own wine!!!! read more

I visited for the first time to take the croissant cooking class with my coworkers for our holiday team event and we had a GREAT time! Our instructor, Diane, was so sweet and fun! We were a big group, but she kept us on task and helped us the entire process - who knew there was so much to learn about croissant making. My team and I also did a little shopping during our breaks and the store was super cute, well organized, and had some really cool items. I got two more Christmas presents before I left! Will definitely return for another class - they are super affordable, there's a wide variety of classes to take, and a great idea if you want to try something different. The worst cooking class ever. Last Friday my sister and mom took a Moroccan cooking class. It was over sold so we had to tam up to allow for the extra people in the drinking party. Yep drunk by the end of the night. It was very unorganized. No written instructions so we had to rely on the chef yelling instructions. And he'd forget some and then ask why we hadn't added the dates or why wasn't our stove wasn't on. Well we'd do that but we were not getting good instruction. And there were lessons to be learned but he did not teach us how to easily skin a ginger. It is by the back of a spoon. It comes off easily that way and you don't loose much ginger. Or when he told us to peas an orange and count out the segments. He could have told us the correct name of the technique but did not and did not show us how to properly do it. Never again will I take a class with this so called chef. What a waste of money and time. I think he really only wanted us to by stuff from sur la table. Probably a good commission for the chef. Go to any other cooking class just not with sur la table. read more

Came in to get my knife sharpened. I didn't but they were incredibly cool and knowledgeable. Never knew my knife wasn't long enough....I've been told differently lol . Will consider cooking classes based on my initial experience. Please don't disappoint me. We are off to such a good start. read more

What a fun place to come shop. Cool gadgets for the kitchen, you can sip on tasty coffee from the Nespresso machines, take a cooking class, just a fun place to check out. Very similar to William Sonoma but I feel that their prices are slightly better. I always find cute hostess gifts there. read more

Should be 0 stars. I was treated with rudeness today when I tried to shop. I am unable to wear a mask, which is not required in Texas, because I pass out after 2 minutes with a mask. I am a Patriot and do not allow myself to wear a slave mask, even if I did not have a medical problem. I understand why this company is bankrupt and will never shop there again. Tyranny! read more

Our family planned a brunch Father's Day cooking class for the first time!! Cooking class was great, however did not appreciate that as participants of the class who receive 10% discount.. this promotion could not be applied to any future purchases in weeks or months to come, or at least with an expiration date, but rather it had to used that day!! Promotions are suppose to be incentives for any future purchases no matter when and at customers' convenience and not the store's !! Sadly this approach has poor reflection on the store's image! read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had, not just at a Sur La Table but probably in general. No one ever spoke to me, no hello, no 'can I help you find anything?', nothing. I spent about 30 minutes in the store to find my dad a birthday present. When I found something he would like, I went and waited at the register for over 5 minutes. There was only one employee to be seen at this point and he was chatting up 2 women about coffee makers and giving them coffee. I ended up leaving and returned after an errand to try to buy the item again.There was a second employee that assisted me. Bought the item and left. Had I not found a present for someone else, I would've never returned to the store. I doubt I'll ever go to this location again. Words of advice: Train your employees to not be jerks. read more

Kitchen stores are just a fun place to roam and shop in. I love all the gadgets and gizmos. We got our picnic backpack at a Sur La Table and then fell in love with the store. It was fun to discover this store while on vacation in Texas. It's in a fabulous location and worth the stop. read more

Great experience as usual at Sur La Table. It's a smaller store with less selection but today I had a great experience with Konnor. My Shun knives are disintegrating before my eyes and Konnor explained the reason and took the time-very diligently-to sharpen them and repair them for me. He really went out of his way to help me use the knives better and maintain them as well. Great job! read more

Very disturbed with the 2 experiences I've had at this store. The first time I went I was looking for a specific spoon to use for playing. I asked an associate and they said they'd have to ask a manager because they were "new". I witnessed the encounter and the man seemed upset and like it was inconvenient that the associate was reaching out to him to find what I needed.. I ended up leaving. Came back this evening for a Thai cooking class with a friend and noticed the same manager working out there and noticed he was being rude/ slightly aggressive toward yet another female associate. I reached out to her to get his name and she uncomfortably mentioned it was Jordan. I've managed retail, kitchens and whole restaurant brands and this young man seems cancerous to what seems to be a solid store.I WILL NOT be returning to this location. The class and chef were fantastic so I will probably attend another location. I don't Yelp often , but I felt like this was extremely necessary. I will be personally reaching out to corporate via phone and email this weekend. I should not feel this way towards an establishment. read more
