By the time dinner was over, I was researching all things Georgian. The restaurant inside is very beautiful. Aside from the excellent food, the service from Elina was so friendly and lovely. All of her recommendations, from wine to dessert, were spot on and were given with descriptions and explanations based upon her love of her culture and country. We ordered the adjaruli khachapuri which was excellent, the Georgian Salad with walnuts, which was incredibly fresh, the beef and pork khinkali, which were phenomenal dumplings and the beef chakondril which was outstanding and beautifully flavored. I highly recommend Ubani and look forward to returning.

The cheeseboats that are similar to pizzas are good but also could use better flavoring and something was a bit off. Service (4/5): Overall very friendly and nice service. We had one issue whereby my friend ordered the cheeseboat with spinach but then they told us we didn't. Later on we saw the check and in fact spinach was in there on the check! Ambiance (5/5): Nice beautiful restaurant with solid amount of seating. Very upscale and sophisticated vibe.

I got to try the Adjaruli khachapuri, Adjaruli ayran, khinkali, and matsoni yogurt, as dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious and very fairly priced, in my opinion. The khachapuri was a Georgian classic, and recommended by the staff. They mixed it right in front of me! Very cheesy, very evenly distributed surprisingly. The edges are buttery and still crispy, my favorite part! You can dip them in the middle as well. Very very good. The khinkali were equally delicious. 4 juicy dumplings with a top that makes them perfect for flipping, drinking the juice, and then eating the whole thing. Staff gave directions on the process! It's still messy, but well worth it. The filling and the soup are so flavorful and tender, just perfect. Earlier, I went to another NYC restaurant to try ayran, and discovered I was obsessed with it, so I ordered it here too. It's supposed to be their Georgian take on it. Not sure how authentic it is, but it was still pretty tasty. I do think I preferred the other place more, but the presentation on this one (came in a clay container, foamy at the top) was great. Finally, I ended the meal with some delicious yogurt as a dessert: Matsoni. Absolutely loved it. Very creamy, slights undertones of sweetness. They added honey and almonds as well. Just perfect. Highly recommend it!

Luckily I was able to get a reservation ahead of time because the place was packed that night! I'm not too familiar with Georgian food, but many of the dishes on the menu looked so good. We decided on the mixed mushroom khinkali, thin crust megrelian khachapuri, pork mtsvadi skewer, and Mediterranean fish. The dumplings were stuffed full with mushrooms and I liked the thick dumpling skin. So different than dumplings I've had before. The flatbread was so unique topped with the pile of fresh herbs and pesto. It's a must order! The pork skewer was so juicy and flavorful. The fish was topped with a walnut sauce and my least favorite of the meal. Chito Gvrito is a perfect spot for a date night or a group meal. The dishes can easily be shared and definitely order one of the flatbreads!

We were able to try a little bit of everything, and it was overall delicious. The portions were a little smaller than I expected, but the food overall was delicious and we were very happy to try a bit of each dish and experience some delicious Georgian cuisine. I also loved the cheese-filled pie. Who doesn't like cheese! Would definitely recommend if you're interested in trying some Georgian food or just some delicious food in general!

The server will help mix the cheese boat, and the cheesy egg mixture becomes the perfect balance of rich and salty gooeyness. - Mkhali Trio - nice spread sampler that tastes exactly like the vegetables in the description. Sadly the dish only came with 3 tiny pieces of cornbread, and it would've been nice if they included more bread with it. - Beef & Pork Khinkali - huge dumplings, which reminded me a bit of soup dumplings. The tops were quite doughy (not sure if they're actually edible or meant to be eaten?), but the filling is juicy and tasty. - Chanakhi - a nicely spiced, warm, and bold lamb stew. There's also an extensive wine list and some fun Georgian sodas and lemonades to try from the drink menu. Overall had a nice dinner here and would love to return!

The cheese and the spinach filling was flavorful but not greasy or dense. The lamb stew was also delicious. The dumplings are fun to eat - they're like massive soup dumplings with a handle to grab onto. The honey cake is a must try! It's dense, chewy yet crunchy. It's also not super sweet. Overall it's an amazing experience exploring this new cuisine and would love to come back.

First, we were pleased to see that the restaurant was nearly full early on a Sunday evening. Reservations recommended! Moreover, we were delighted to find out that the food remains both unique and extraordinarily tasty. We started with a salad which frankly looked pretty boring on the menu but turned out to be amazingly Georgian-seasoned! Then a cheese bread (Adjaruli) which was just as we remembered it. Cheesy, creamy and absolutely delicious. We then tried their Khinkali dumplings for the first time and loved them. Once again, wonderful seasoning. Our entree was the Chashushull which came with a tasty warm bread which came in handy to soak up the delicious sauce. Service was attentive and not overbearing. Seating comfortable, pricing somewhat above moderate. There remains lots to love about this restaurant!

My plan was simple, go to Cheeseboat on Friday night, order a Khachapuri and some Khinkali, and…read morecall it an evening. When I got to the Williamsburg location and observed the door locked, lights off, and the interior like nobody was there (with no indication there would be no one coming), I was crestfallen. This restaurant defined popular Georgian food. It is one of the reasons I make a trek out to a neighborhood that I would not otherwise dare set foot in for more than an extended period of time. When I observed they also have a Manhattan location, I figured, okay, try them out, what the hell, maybe it will be fine. Three subway lines later (okay, I could have done it in two), and here is the result. Firstly, the service is amazing. The entire wait staff is warm, welcoming, intelligent, and passionate about what is served out of their kitchen. Liza may not be working here (or at least was not there during the time I was here), but the service is still first rate. Secondly, the interior space is more intimate than the Williamsburg location. It feels more Manhattan-y than Williamsburg-y, if that makes sense. Now that I got the non-food stuff out of the way, here comes the part you came for, the meal. I ordered five things here. You will see why later, it will make sense to you by the end. Khachapuri: My new favorite snack is a must at any Georgian restaurant. To say this is a calzone or a stromboli is being condescending to this lovely cheeseboat (had to do it). It is a little on the small side, but the cheese and texture is beautiful and I never once had to pick up a fork to eat it. Your server will even mix everything for you if you ask. Grade: A- Khinkali: Six to an order, just like at the Williamsburg location, they are tasty, but it is looser. They fall apart too quickly upon that first nibble. I know not to eat the knot, because when my server took my plate away after I was done eating them, he smiled wryly at me, knowing I did it right. Grade: B Chakapuli: Probably the weakest thing I ordered, the lamb is tasty, but also super fatty and super tender. I deliberately did not eat the sauce and some of the other bits because of the richness and the onions that were at the bottom of the dish. The fact it comes with two nice pieces of bread helps mitigate things, but I played it smart by just taking the big stuff and using the bread as a binder. Grade: B- Kharcho: A staple at any Georgian restaurant, this is essentially Lagman soup, but they use rice instead of noodles as their carb weapon of choice. The lamb is beautiful and the broth has a beautiful aroma and fragrance. It also comes with two nice pieces of bread to really soak in more flavor. This balanced out the out of balance Chakapuli. Grade: B+ Georgian White Wine Flight: Yes, I got a flight, four glasses of the restaurant's finest white wines. I had a glass for each of the meals that I ate. Each wine has its own character. My server even gave me a suggestion on how to go about drinking them. I know very little about wine, so I will not go much further than this. However, each wine I tasted, tasted better than the previous one. I do know Georgia is known for its wine, and by the end of the flight, I was starting to see why... maybe. Grade: A- That is not all. I also ordered a Honey Cake for dessert, because I know all too well that honey is the great equalizer in all things savory. This will put it all in its place, like Godzilla restoring the balance in an inhumane world. Honey Cake: One bite told me all I needed to know. It is outstanding. Well balanced, terrific flavor, outstanding texture, ridiculously, out of bounds in terms of how it should look and feel. This dessert may have ruined all things dessert for me for the time being. It is simply the best way to end a meal, and to go out on a high note. Grade: A+ -- Some of you may be saying, why would you do this? Why would you go all the way out here for this? 1.) Because I can, 2.) The experience is largely outstanding, and 3.) It is not always about those two, it is the adventure, and eating what I ate here gave me a sense of adventure, from start to finish. Stay classy Cheeseboat, I know you will be just fine until the Williamsburg location reopens, if it ever does. If not, your Manhattan location will do you justice.

My friends and…read moreI walked in on a weekday night without a reservation and was seated immediately which was very nice. - Khinkali Soup Dumplings - Great dumplings and dare I say I like the broth of this more than the broth of traditional XLBs? The broth was so rich and oily full of meaty flavor, I really did wish they packed more into each dumpling. - Steak'n'Mushroom Cheeseboat - The cheeseboats here are actually very good because the dough is very crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. They also pack the cheeseboat with so much cheese in it, lactose intolerant people should run. I did think however, there wasn't that many steak pieces, although tender, as I think there was around 6 small thin pieces of meat on the cheeseboat. - Honeycomb Brie Cheeseboat - Although this cheeseboat was very good like the steak and mushroom one, I really couldn't justify the price. This ingredients in here was essentially honey, walnuts, cheese, more cheese, and bread and it was over $20. I did really enjoy the walnut and honey mixture although I couldn't really taste the brie in this one. - Buratta Salad - Great salad, I surprisingly liked the vinagrette although I wish the burrata was bigger. Overall, it was a great meal I just thought everything was a bit expensive given that the primary ingredients were cheese and flour.

The eggplant and salad both came outburst and both were good in terms of size and flavor. The salad had a good dressing which complimented it and did not overpower it. The eggplant was really good but would've been better with bread, so we requested bread and it was an additional charge and some pieces were very chewy and a bit hard to chew. The baked good came out afterwards and it was a combo between a pizza and phyllo dough. The portion size was really good and the flavor was decent albeit a bit bland.
