First off, I would rate the calcium on my tiles a 10/10 in severity. The calcium was so bad my blue tiles looked pure white! For any DIY folks out there, just know this is hard work! I tried bead blasting my own tiles but couldn't finish. Blasting was tough and I was losing color in some of the tiles. Also, working in water on a 90 degree day is NOT fun. Anyway, I reached out to several companies before finding Mike. He had the most reasonable price considering I had already started the job. Mike did an incredible job cleaning our pool tiles. We had over 15 years of calcium build up and also gel coat/glaze that was once put on the pool tiles that had turned to a hard opaque topcoat when dry. At first Mike used epson salt sandblasting, and then needed to do something even more to get through the layers of gel coat and calcium (glass bead blasting). The results speak for themselves, we couldn't be happier to have what looks like almost new travertine tile. We recommend you definitely move all your pool furniture beforehand (as he recommended) because the bead blasting creates a lot of mess, but worth the clean up. His online estimate was exactly what he charged and he was on-time and completed the job in 3 hours. We'd highly recommend Mike and Superior Tile Cleaning! read more

Our white- and glass-tiled pool needed serious cleaning for mineral buildup and rust, but other pool companies were unable to help us and in one case, damaged some of our glass tiles with muriatic acid. We were having our pool resurfaced and were told that the only thing we could do was replace the tiles even though they were less than 10 years old. I found Superior Pool Tile Cleaning on Yelp, and sent photos. I did have to badger them a bit to come out because they weren't sure they could clean the tiles either, but I decided it was worth the $600 minimum fee with no guarantees, to have them come out and try, since the alternative was replacing my tiles at a cost of several thousand dollars. Once here, the owner, Mike, worked very hard on cleaning the tiles, and the results were better than we could've hoped without damage to our glass tiles. (The powdery substance does fly everywhere, and although Mike cleans up, just make sure all areas are cleaned up.) Our pool cleaners and the pool remodelers, both of whom said they couldn't do anything for our tiles, were so impressed they asked for a referral which I happily gave them. I'm blown away by the quality of service I received from Mike and Leslie and Superior Pool Tile Cleaning. First of all, I have NEVER left a Yelp review, but I just could t resist and given the quality I received - they deserved to be recognized. First of all, I had really bad calcium build up on the stone around my pool, and even lines on my tile and then some build up on my stone waterfall. Mike came out and arrived on time and spent 3-4 hours cleaning the stone and tile. It looked awesome afterwards. However, they had also put a coat of sealant on my stone - which is usually a pretty good thing to do. He asked before doing it and I said "sure". But for some reason, it didn't look right on my stone and seemed to be causing it look different than it should. I texted with Leslie and she immediately addressed it and said they would gladly come back and redo it to get the sealant off and make sure I'm 100% satisfied. They said they would be by on Thursday morning and sure enough - they showed up without a reminder. Most contractors I have dealt with in LA have been really bad at follow up and scheduling. Not Superior! They were on top of it and took care of things very professionally. Maybe that is why they are called "Superior"! I would highly recommend this company and they deserve your business. First of all, the cleaning job was okay but the company worker (might be the owner) was cleaning the tiles that were about to fall off of my pool. I'm giving this rating for the knowlege of the person that the company sent to clean my pool tile. I wasn't at home , so didn't know who it was... I had three pool contractors that recommended me to replace my pool tiles at my new home in Fountain Valley because they look "too old". I thought it was for cosmetic reason only, so I wanted to save that money (about $3k-$3.5k) for other things (replastering, plumbing, etc). So, I called Superior Tile Cleaning to clean my tiles instead. They asked me to send some photos and gave me a quote for $850. The day after Mike (?) came and cleaned my pool tiles, I found out a lot of pieces of tile could come off easily with a light touch of a hammer. I ended up having all tiles replaced. I could have saved $850 if the person that came for the cleaning job was knowledge enough to suggest me to replace the tiles instead of cleaning them. I didn't know that too old tiles wouldn't survive the sand blast that they used to clean. You should examine your tiles or ask someone to do it before wasting your money on cleaning something that doesn't even last one day after the cleaning. What a bummer! read more
