Being fairly new to the Fishers area, I did a quick review scroll (as a yelper does lol) and went in with high hopes... and let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint! First off, the menu? Solid. So many options it almost stressed me out, in the best way! I finally landed on the Aloha Special Plate with Hawaiian BBQ Chicken + Chicken Katsu, upgraded my rice to fried rice, and it also came with the mac salad and veggies. Now when I opened that container... BABY. The portions?! Generous is an understatement. They did not come to play! The BBQ chicken was sweet, savory, and full of flavor. The chicken katsu? Crispy, golden perfection. Like... exactly what you want it to be. The macaroni salad was also hitting... creamy, flavorful, no complaints there. Only thing that fell a little flat for me was the rice, it just needed a bit more flavor. But honestly, everything else made up for it. I can't speak on the service or vibe since we did takeout, but based on this meal alone? Yeah... I'll absolutely be back. I've already got my eye on a few more things on the menu!

A few observations about the place it's got some really cute decor. Little bit more cliché than authentic. I would call out. The menu definitely has authentic items on it. The cooking is not as authentic however it is generous and it is fresh tasting. For example, the beef plate I believe had some type of seasoning on it. That gave it a flavor that is not exactly authentic. So I would recommend laying off the seasoning. The Katsu sauce, which is self service is also legitimate as as the teriyaki sauce. I would definitely come back here again however I also learned that there are other similar Hawaiian barbecue spots in the Carmel fishers Indianapolis area that I would also definitely want to check out and compare.

This pop-up happens in Studio C, a creative culinary wonderland that consists of private chef dinners, single daily meal specials, morning coffee and this sweet pop-up. When Amanda took to creating these artisan donuts, the city immediately flocked. Follow her on Instagram (@indydough) to see the different baked goods she cooks up each week. She usually makes donuts: think everything from cherry vanilla crullers to guava cream cheese old fashioned and black sesame glazed donuts. They're truly cooler than any donuts you've ever tried. I saw a post about white cheddar, green onion scones and immediately hopped on it. I messaged Amanda the night before the pop-up and she set one aside, as they usually sell out. This is the kind of place that you will have to arrive incredibly early to even have a chance at scoring a donut. There's a limited amount and they sell out in person within 30 minutes. I just so happened to come across them with a Tinker Coffee partnership. They were sadly out of most pastries, but we ended up with a galette-like tomato + cheese tart. It was so damn drool-worthy. It had a variety of colors of tomatoes. It was perfectly creamy from the cheesiness and salty from the buttery pastry. Can't wait to try more of their stuff and hope to see them do more pop ups downtown!

Menu and location for the week are posted Monday or Tuesday of the week and the pop up runs Wed-Sat 6-10pm. Even with an ever-changing menu, the food never disappoints. There's always a theme, but my favorites lately have been the fusions. Ramen with crispy bits of pork and two birria tacos are the things dreams are made of. The wings are a family fave and they even combine the sauces if you ask. The most recent menu had a NOLA theme. Crab boil Ramen, gumbo, a Po' Boy Bahn Mi, and hush puppies. I would have never thought to make ramen from a crab boil, but now that I've had it, I want it all the time. If you read the promotional information on the Newfield's website, it describes a "diner" and seems to promote a certain connection to "americana". But because of the open spacing and surrounding environment, there is none of the intimacy of a diner here. No aromas of fresh baked pies. There wasn't the commitment to the aesthetic as in the earlier pop ups. And frankly, the American Apple Pie wasn't my favorite. Too much spice (I smelled the nutmeg before taking a bite) and not enough sweetness to make me reminisce of days gone by. Fortunately, the scoop of vanilla ice cream added just enough sweetness to balance out the savory. And the bottomless cup of coffee was really good: full flavor, no bitterness, and served ready to drink. They also have other sweet pies, three savory pies, some gluten free and vegan options, and milk shakes (with and without booze). Understand before you go here that this is a fund raising event for the museum. So don't complain about prices because this isn't a regular business. The prices are clearly listed, so if you think it cost too much, that's your own fault for not preparing. Know that you have to pay for admission to the museum to be able to dine at the pop up as well.
