We wanted something different while visiting the shore and decided to check out this place, we ordered 4 empanadas 4 half chickens w/ rice and beans, an order of chicharron w/thick sweet potato chips as well as tostones and sweet plantains, the food was flavorful and good but the chicken was a bit dry, the service was decent, it took them a bit to come and take our order but they were nice, the place is somewhat small but clean, we will come back and maybe try some of their other dishes. read more

My friend mentioned wanting to try this place, so we swung by to grab takeout for dinner. The portions were a good size. I enjoyed the tallarin verde, mostly because of the pesto sauce spaghetti. It was light and flavorful. The tres leches was decent, but I wasn't a fan of the maduros. I like most things on the softer side, but they were mushy to the point where they were almost falling apart when you picked them up. I would definitely avoid those next time. read more

Food was really good here. We took it to go order, but you can easily eat in there and it's very comfortable and quaint. The chicken is delicious, moist, tender and flavorful. The empanadas de Pollo are outstanding. Their fella is de papa also fantastic. All in all this place offers really good food whether you stay or go. The only thing we did not care for was the desserts. The rice pudding had a very strange flavor to it, extremely acidic, and the flan was just too hard. But, trust me, we've been here frequently over the years! #6- Palta Rellena Con Pollo- half an avocado filled with chicken salad- daughter thought it was a little salty but she loved it. This is her usual go-to whenever we come here. #15- Aguadito De Pollo- cilantro chowder with chicken and potatoes. Hubs says it tastes like an essence of Chinese congee with a Spanish twist. In other words, he thinks it's delicious. Another go to for us. #65 - Cau Cau- tripe and potato cilantro stew with white rice. Hubs loved it and thought it was hearty and worth taking an extra Crestor. LOL. #63- Sudado De Pescado- simmered fish filet in tomato-based sauce with white rice. Hubs liked it a lot. He and daughter fought for it so there weren't any leftovers. I got the Tres Leches to go. It was delicious. I forgot to take a picture of it. Service was friendly and quick. My brother and I went to a Peruvian restaurant recently in a strip mall. I believe it is part of a national chain. They have a varied menu, from vegan to beef, pork and chicken dishes. Mark was our server, whom I felt was new to the job, yet was very polite. We shared a "papa rellena " $5.50-A stuffed potato with ground beef and marinated onions, quite tasty. I ordered the "ceviche de camarones " (shrimp) with Peruvian toasted corn kernels, sweet potato in lime juice-$15. I felt it was a bit too salty and lacked cilantro, a major ingredient in ceviche. I had a Peruvian fruit drink, laced with cinnamon $2 a glass. My brother had a beef dish over rice and beans with plantains. He felt it was average and I tasted it and agreed. Great authentic Peruvian food. Delicious Mussels with red onion, cilantro corn and vinegar , fried yuca with cheese sauce was great, rotisserie chicken with white rice, my wife felt the chicken was over-cooked, I like it that way. Thin grilled steak with white rice, beans, sweet plantains and a fried egg was pretty good. I had to go up to the counter to pay and get to-go boxes. The guy couldn't find my order in the computer so he had to re enter it. He tells me $62, I paid and left a $12 tip but the price seemed a bit high. I get back to the table and tel my wife, she agreed it seemed on the high side. She looked at a menu and haphazardly added everything up in her head, she said it seems about right and we left. We ordered rice and beans(my wife loved them),chicken and beef empanadas (we couldn't decide which was better) and the most delicious rotisserie chicken I've ever had! I called this restaurant on April 5th 2024 at 6:30pm to order 4 empanadas and some plantains. They said it would be ready in 20min. I show up to pickup my order and their is a line inside the restaurant of about 7 people who look like they've been waiting a while. After about 10 minutes they ask me if I already placed an order and I said yes. I give my name and what I ordered and the guy looks confused. He writes my order down and says, "let me check to see if it's ready". I then waited for another 30 minutes. They never gave me an update or told me anything at all. Meanwhile I'm watching more people come in to order food and they're taking new orders!! Its 7:45pm at this point & I placed my order at 6:30pm... I didn't say anything else and I just left. I will never be back here ever again. The service at Super Pollo was an insult and they should be embarrassed to run a business so incompetently. I will be letting all of my family and friends locally know about my horrible experience. This could have easily been a four star review if only a few more things fell into place. These folks have a great rating over many reviews so I might just attribute my visit, although it was good, to circumstance. My brother and I were in the area and always looking for something different decided on Peruvian tonight. We entered and were told to sit anywhere we liked, not being sure if they had table service and not seeing any wait staff around. So we grabbed a seat and and were soon provided with a menu. There were a lot of interesting things on the menu and therefore hard to choose. We decided to split the Papa Rellena which was a potato ball stuffed with seasoned beef served with lime marinated onions. It was good but was disappointed that it was a little better than room temperature. I ended up ordering the Bistec a lo pobre which was grilled steak over rice and beans with fried plantains. The steak was pounded thin and grilled and tasted good except there was a bit more gristle than I would have liked. The plantains were excellent as were the rice and beans but the beans were cold while everything else was hot. Maybe they should turn that hot plate up a notch or two. Oh yeah, my Snapple was warm. The prices are very reasonable, service was good, and the large variety menu makes me want to try other things another time. read more

I'll admit, I have a favorite Peruvian spot I don't talk about (1st rule of Fight Club motto) and I'm pretty reluctant on giving up their #1 spot. But man, this place is major competition. They don't call this place super chicken for nothing. When you first walk in, you're greeted with a delicious aroma...followed by what I call a fashion show. The birds are proudly displayed in the rotisserie cooker making their turn by turn, showing off their glistening meat and juices. Pretty glorious view I must say. As amazing as that sounds, I actually didn't order their rotisserie chicken (I know, shame on me). But what I did order was pretty damn good. Let's start with the empanadas. Oh yes, they're good. Flaky pockets filled with savory chicken or beef. I know their pollo is supposed to be "super", but I found the beef to be slightly better, just saying. We didn't leave out chicken entirely from our meal. My friend and I shared the Bistec A Lo Pobre (grilled steak w/ fried egg) and the Chicharron De Pollo (fried chunks of chkn w/ salsa criolla - for the Peruvian noobs, that's the yummy marinated red onions). The chicken was a wee bit dry, but the steak was done just right. Everything we tried was delicious, but what made it really shine was their green aji sauce. Slightly spicy but packed with flavor. In Emeril's words, it just kicked it up a notch. Yes, it's that good of a sauce. The only qualm I have about this place is the language barrier we had with the server. Quick, delicious and good price for Peruvian food. Came here on a Saturday afternoon after going to the gun range for lunch. Started off with chicken empanada which was nice. The rotisserie chicken was moist and tasted good. The rice and beans were also tasty. The beans had a good texture and weren't soggy at all. The Lomo saltado (beef) was pretty good too. It had a really delicious sauce with lots of onions and some tomatoes. The pieces of beef were OK but the sauce made it taste good. I also tasted the "chicken nuggets" and they were the best chicken nuggets I've ever had. They were moist inside, and had flavorful seasoning. The pitcher of purple corn drink was interesting. The Peruvian rotisserie chicken (pollo a la brasa) here is top notch... in a totally different league than those sad ones sitting under the heat lamp at the Shoprite up the road. The beautiful mahogany birds are pulled off the rotisserie spit piping hot as you order them. Marinated in olive oil, garlic, & spices and then cooked to perfection, they come out moist and juicy inside, with crispy skin redolent with the marinade that's off the charts. It comes accompanied with Aji Verde, Peruvian green hot sauce. It's a unique flavorful hot sauce that is not crazy-hot and works really well with these dishes, esp the chicken. Also ordered the Ceviche Mixto. Mixed seafood marinated in lime juice to cook it, topped with slivers of pickled red onion, roasted corn kernels, sweet potato. Fresh and well seasoned. This was the best ceviche I remember having. Had the the Picarones for dessert. These are kind of a Peruvian version of Mexican Churros, except they're pretzel-shaped & made from sweet potato and pumpkin flour, resulting in a lighter and fluffier doughnut. Very good. One gripe is that service suffers when it's busy, which it usually is on weekends. There's only two guys, besides the cook, doing takeout, serving & busing tables. They're very overburdened. I told our waiter this and he said that the owner "knows". I suggested that with all the money they're making they could afford to hire more people. So why doesn't he hire some more help? My GF opined that maybe since prices are so good for this quality food, if he hired more people, he'd have to raise them. ( still won't drop a star since the chicken is so good it's addictive.) This place is in my neighborhood and could easily be 4 or 5 stars because the food is really on point. Service, however, goes a long way. And unfortunately, the service here is not the greatest. I've ordered food here numerous times because it's really really good. I've also ordered food numerous times in hopes of better service. Their rotisserie chicken is really flavorful, as you would expect any Peruvian restaurant. Their star item is their EMPANADAS! Beef or chicken, they are a MUST-HAVE! The empanadas are what really keep me coming back. The lady at the front doesn't speak very much English which I don't mind, if she wouldn't look at me like I was inconveniencing her by not speaking Spanish. The food if you can called that food was disgusting, I should figure it out as soon I entered to the place the terrible smell of refried oil it made me sick of my stomach. we ordered a whole chicken with fries , a whole salad , Papa a la Huancaina and a seafood soup . they took for ever to made the soup we were ready to leave and the soup wasn't even ready . the chicken and the fries looked that were made last week and soaked in oil , disgusting. the Huancaina was frozen cold and the salad had the tomatoes and lettuce from days before . NEVER AGAIN . I DONT KNOW HOW YOU CAN CALL THIS PERUVIAN FOOD YOU ARE A DISGRACE and honestly some one should call Health Department on this people. GROSS. read more

Super Pollo is such a great little gem, hidden in an inconspicuous strip mall, behind an Outback steakhouse. Peruvian food may seem like an unnerving exotic food destination that is too far out of reach of the usual bland taste palettes of the people in this area. However, I assure you, there is no cuy (pronounced "koo-wee") in sight (despite its close proximity to the Petsmart, haha); they do not use the merciless peppers of Quetzalacatenango to spice their food to a level of one billion on the Scoville scale; and in fact, the only items you may not have seen or tried before are their ceviche offerings and the specialty drink, "chicha" (not to be confused with pisco). What this place is known for is its delicious rotisserie chicken. Of course they also have a selection of steaks and seafood to choose from- all of it delicious, filling, and affordable! A whole roasted chicken will cost you less than 10 bucks! On my latest outing with friends, I had the steak over rice and beans, with a side of sweet plantain, and topped with a fried egg (the bistek a lo pobre). For my friends, since this was their first visit, they wanted to try the chicken. All of the food was delicious, and since we also like our food spicy, we asked for a container of their homemade, green, hot sauce. Let me tell you, the hot sauce is so flavorful and just the right amount of heat. I slathered that stuff on everything! Anyway, this place really deserves your patronage. The food is delectable and dirt cheap. It's also a plus that it brings in some much needed diversity to our area. I'm sure you can find something on the menu that you'll enjoy. The flavors were DEAD ON!!! My grievance is with the quality of steak that they used. It wasn't high quality because it was a "Tough Chew"... That aside, The dish was VERY GOOD. We came with a table of 6. We ordered soft drinks and water. The soft drinks came but it took 15 more minutes for 3 people to get tap water with no ice. We ordered appetizers and entrees. After 1 hour we got 2 appetizers and 2 side dishes and one entree all at the same time. It took another 20 minutes for all entrees and side dishes to be served. Some of the dishes were ok but the whole chicken dinner was served last despite them being cooked all night long in the rotisserie. The chicken was dry and awful. Inedible. BUG IN MY SOUP.......I've ordered the rotisserie chicken before & I like to give credit where it is due...it was good chicken a tad bit dry but the seasoning was on point. I was sick as a dog on Friday June 15th and was super busy at work so I decided to use doordash and order a nice sopita de pollo (chicken soup). The doordash service was great. I finally got to sit at my desk and enjoy my soup when I saw something floating around the noodles. At First I thought it was a flaxseed but then saw a leg and thought "why would they add flax seed To soup and since when do flaxseeds have legs??" I opened the soup and took the weird object out. And it was a bug!!!!!! I pulled the leg off with my spoon and pressed it down and long and behold. A bug. I was super upset. I called the restaurant to let them know and I was answered by a rude server/worker. Like super rude. Ummm I'm the one who's sick and found the bug in my soup. I got There later to return it and show them the bug and the same worker who answered the phone was there to receive it. SO FREAKING RUDE. first he said it was oregano and I looked at him like dude. Are you for realll. Then he admitted it was a bug and gave me an attitude and said he didn't know how it got in the soup. Yeah. Neither did I brooo I just wanted to eat my soup. Long story short I received my money back and will NEVER EVER order from here again. I can understand if it was a vegetable bug but it's the kitchens responsibility to carefully clean all the vegetables before serving them to the customers AND don't give the customer attitude when it was the establishment that was at fault.
