I'm giving Mango's one star for poor customer service. I called ahead to ask if they had flan. The lady on the phone said yes and quoted me a price per item. I drove right over there and bought 2 of the flan which were in small plastic cups (did not expect that) & one tres leches. She rang me up and I paid. When I left I realized that she charged me almost double the price she initially quoted on the phone so I called her back and explained. We had a fantastic experience at Mango's! I was visiting family in town and since they grew up in Peru, we wanted to find authentic Peruvian food. It was lovely. We had the lomo saltado, ají de gallina, and of course ceviche. Absolutely delicious and generous portions as well. The staff were so kind and came out to talk to us after our meal. A cozy Peruvian restaurant nestled in Mount Laurel, NJ. The workers there were friendly & helpful with any questions you have. Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Portions are plenty - you will walk away feeling very full and still have food leftover to take home. Their tres leches was very good & not too sweet! Wow. I've ordered here quite a few times, but after tonight, I'm so turned off. I was placing an order for a large chicken and a bunch of sides. I asked for small sides and the lady had an attitude, then said I needed to place a minimum of $50 since I live in Marlton, despite delivering to me multiple times. My order was 44 and I could easily have ordered more but I didn't want to take a chance that her nasty might spill into my food. I get it if the sale isn't worth it, but to lose a customer is such bad business. I'm pretty sure i'm over this place now. read more

A good friend of mine and fellow Yelper, suggested this restaurant. (Homerun!) I brought my wife along to try it out. It's a small, but clean and inviting restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you have any questions, about any menu items, feel free to ask, you will get helpful tips. The dining area isn't big, but the tables are spaced far enough apart, that you dont feel packed in like sardines while dining. My wife and I both had Papa Rellenas as our appetizers. It's not a stuffed baked potato, but mashed potatoes rolled and stuffed with ground beef, beans and egg. and baked. Very tasty dish! My wife had the Arroz con Pollo. I had the Lomo Soltado with Spanish Rice and two Chica Moradas drinks. You can get tea and smoothies also. My family and I went to dinner there this past Saturday night. I went to the counter to place our order for my parents and myself, while doing this I forgot to ask for chicken instead of beef with my order. When the food arrived I told the waiter what happened and he took the food back to the counter. I went over and explained that I was flustered when ordering for everyone and forgot to change to chicken. Here's the sad part, I was told "there was nothing she could do" and " I would have to order another $20 platter." I kindly asked if she could remove the beef and add chicken, she told me, "no, that can't happen." It was bad business, rude and unkind. Great little Peruvian spot. Go with the arroz con pollo, the chicken was good but the rice was a real winner. The veggies cooked in really gave each bite a nice pop of flavor. I ordered a beef dinner on 6/23/22 late in the evening, after getting home I realized that they had given me a chicken dinner instead. I called back and spoke to a gentlemen named Ricardo, who went on to accuse me of saying chicken, and insisted that there was not a mistake. Ricardo then paused and stated he was waiting for me to suggest a solution to fix the issue. (Most bizarre thing ever) After a long drive home, I did not want to go back out again. I offered to pick up the correct order the next day. Ricardo went on to tell me that this is a loss for their business. (insinuating that this wouldn't be happening) I have never had someone accuse me of lying like this before. The situation could have been fixed easily, but this conversation left me feeling uncomfortable and upset. I hope others do not have to experience this in the future. I have come to Mango's twice after going to the Paws farm next door. Basically Paws is for my kid and Mango's is for me! The Peruvian flavor is great and something I really miss from living in North Jersey. Besides great authentic Peruvian dishes, they also make other Latin dishes with great flavor. Our favorite plates to order are the roasted chicken, the roasted pork, and lomo salteado. I highly recommend them, or just pick your own as the menu has pictures to help you choose. They also make fresh smoothies which are delicious! As for the store front, it is decorated adorably with llamas and catcii, it is like the Target version of Peru. Stumbled across this little whole in the wall spot, I would have never noticed if it wasn't for Wawa being few stores down. Nice to see cultural food in an area as mount laurel. I have now eaten here quite a few times now. Customer service is decent, food is good and the smoothies are as well. The tostones are decent, just wished it was smashed more thinly and crispy and had garlic. The plantains are great with any meal like the half chicken I had purchase. Don't forget the sauce they have to offer. It's a light green color it's taste great on the chicken and rice. For an extra cup of the sauce it's about a dollar maybe. Small cozy place seats about 20 people max. Great for lunch or dinner with friends and family. This place would be at HIT if they had BYOB! read more

Came here before heading to funeral and was going to go to Manila cafe but had to try something new. Got the pork meal with Spanish rice and added tostones. This came out fairly quickly as I asked if this would be. The rice was good and so was the pork with the green sauce which actually was spicy. This was a good filling meal much needed and I would have to possibly come back for the wknd specials and maybe the chicken which i was told is one of their main dishes. Mango's Café is located in yet another South Jersey strip mall in Lumberton, near Mt. Holly. The space it self is very bright and clean. There is a good amount of seating, probably for 23-30 patrons. Mango's Café has a pretty large menu on illuminated signs above the counter. One orders from the very pleasant staff and they bring the food to your table when ready. My party of three ordered a few dishes. To start with, we had the plantains and yucca fries. The plantains were excellent, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The yucca fries were good also and came with a good dipping (Aji Pollero) sauce. I ordered the Pollo a la Brasa. This was cooked very well and was moist. I liked the seasoning also on the chicken. The Arroz Chaufa, which was like Latin/Asian fried rice, was also good. The Lomo Saltado, which was a stir-fried beef, was just OK for me. It wasn't bad at all but it didn't have the flavors I was expecting, maybe a bit on the bland side. Mango's Café had a pretty good Tres Leches, not as good as Tierra Colombiana in Philadellphia, but still pretty good. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The prices were reasonable and the food came out fairly fast. I would definitely recommend Mango's Café if in the Mt. Holly area. Yummy Peruvian food! A lot of people were taking out food orders. My husband and I actually dined in at the restaurant. We felt safe and I felt that everyone was spaced apart from each other. The food was delicious and their serving size was great! I had the arroz con pollo and it was so good. Their spicy green sauce was SPICY but so worth it. Just thinking about it makes me salivate. I ordered the Pescado Frito and asked for black beans with it. I was told that black beans only come with the Spanish Rice, but the lady recommended the white beans instead. So glad I ordered it, as it really made my meal! My husband ordered the Tallarin Saltado Mix and ate every last bit of the enormous plate. My son ordered a steak dish with the white beans and rice and he also loved it. I brought the remainder of my dinner home since I couldn't finish mine. Absolutely love Mango's! With the pandemic and then a newborn, take out from Mango's has been a god-send. The menu is HUGE, so even if you are not an adventurous eater, there is something for everyone. We love the milanesa sandwich, all the roast chicken dishes, but our favorites are the chicken and pork burritos. The portion sizes are amazing and you will get bang for your buck. When I Yelped it I knew this was something I needed to share with with the Hoosband. It was a easy decision to agree that we're going to eat from this spot. I started coming here due to the other location in Lumberton closing. I don't know if they changed the cooks but the food is much different now, is not good is what I mean. When ordering I have to constantly tell them not to dry my rice or meats(steak or chicken) otherwise they do it. I still continue to go as they are a friendly establishment but due to the last experience with them I will lot nor do I recommend coming back to this place. They lady who's also the owner incorrectly order my food, I didn't see the product until I arrived back home which was after they were closed. I called back but they stop taking calls after they close even tho they're still physically in the building. The following day I called and left a message for the lady and she returned my call. I told her even tho most of my order was wrong It'll be ok as long as one of the orders got corrected but she refused and instead offered me a 10% discount on my next visit to which I politely declined. I advised her I would not be coming back and she will lose more clients this way and I would be posing this on my review sites, the lady said she doesn't care and to do as I please. Pro: A good plate of food indeed! Usually when I try Peruvian food, I go with the Lomo Saltado. However, the staff convinced me to try out the Arroz Con Pollo; it did not disappoint! The jalapeno hot sauce on the side made it even that much better! Good portion sizes too! Con: A bit pricey for a lunch ($17 for food and a bottled water). Also, the food took a while to arrive to the table, despite a relatively empty place. A good thing takes time, I suppose.. Bottom Line: Good stuff, will try the Lomo next visit! read more
