We were in the neighborhood and after reading the reviews, my husband and I decided to try them out. We usually go to another taco stand on the other side of Bellingham (by an Irish pub, I think) but thought what the heck...why not give this one a chance as we love taco stands. Well, Super Mario's is cheaper than a restaurant, but double the price of the other taco stand in Bellingham. Our burritos were around $6 each while at the other taco stand we go to are around $3 each:( . My husband got the pork Wonder Burrito and could barely eat it as it was too salty for his taste (and he loves salty stuff!). I had the steak Wonder Burrito, but it was good! This was our experience....Everyone should try it at least once though. We still love taco stands, just this one isn't for us. I lived and went to school in Bellingham. This taco truck has had the same location for years. The wonder burritos are ginormous! Their quesidillas and tortas beat all the other trucks in town because they are not dripping and soggy with grease. Kudos to you Los Salvadorianos. The salsa was the second best in town after bandito burritos until they closed. You can also check out Super Mario's restaurant location on Northwest Avenue to get some fresh baked papusas filled with pineapple or raspberry or apple. If you're going to super Mario's, odds are you're getting a wonder burrito. It's their bestselling item and my favorite on the menu. However, most of my visits to this food truck take way too long. I will wait a half hour or more for one burrito. Then when I get the burrito, it tastes delicious, except that the meat is too untrimmed for my liking. But somehow I keep coming back! read more

This is the best food truck food I've ever had. Their Salvadorian tacos, burritos, and pupusas are amazing and take quite a long time to prepare. You should call in your order and arrive (with cash only) at least 20 minutes after they say it will be ready if you don't want to stand around waiting. They have hired who I assume is their daughter and her attitude is so bad and she is so rude that I won't go their if she is working, and since I prefer to call in and don't know if she's there I have quit going there. This Salvadorian restaurant has the best tacos and burritos in Bellingham! I love the wonder burrito and the pupusas are very good if you do not know what they are just order then and enjoy something new. They have the best green sauce around. I am so glad they opened a restaurant off Northwest st. Go forth and eat my friends and then come here. I have eaten at just about every place in town and this is the best when it comes to food just south of the border. best. taco. truck. ever. i live in seattle and some nights im halftempted to drive ninety minutes just for a fix. they make delicious everything (i attribute it to the cheese that they melt in some magical, inexplicable way), though the papusas are definitely one of my favorites. theyre filled with cheese/beans/adorableness and always come out hot/fluffy/adorable. also, their burritos are all amazing (though impossible to finish in one sitting). also, all the salsas here are unbelievably good. its super cheap, if you think youre spending too much here you dont know how to order (or havent grown accustomed to seattle tacotruck prices). read more

I first encountered Super Mario's while attending the Bellingham Auto Auction and their food truck was there. I was starving and while I'd never had Salvadoran "Mexican" I figured what the heck. Ordered the Wonder Burrito, Asada. That was it. I was hooked. Not sure what the difference is in spices but it has a flavor that is distinctively different than any other Burrito in Bellingham, and that flavor is delicious! And when that craving hits, nothing else will do and a pilgrimage must be made. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy...but there is tons of parking. A bonus is that they not only have Kerns Nectar in the case...which nobody else does and it goes perfectly with the food, but they have a killer deal on their freshly made packages of tortillas which I purchase when supplies are low at home (for making early morning breakfast burritos which are horribly difficult to find in Bellingham). The sauces they serve are excellent, just spicy enough but not enough to drown the flavor. I have yet to try the Pupusas but I hear they are delicious and the Wonder Burrito calls to me. read more

Just had take-out from the new restaurant location on Northwest - very yummy. We had the Wonder Burrito, the Classic Burrito - both with Carne Asada - and the Grilled Chicken - all for about $20. Sounds like a lot of food - and it was - we could have easily gotten by with one Burrito and Chicken - but looks like lunch for tomorrow. The food is fantastic - all homemade. Stop by and grab a menu - it's much quicker to phone in an order to go. Oh - and the restaurant number is 360-393-4637. You won't be sorry to support this local restaurant! read more

My first impression of Super Mario's was not very favorable. My first 2 bites of a Wonder Burrito put me in mind of a Chinese Egg Roll. It was only when I got into the third bite did I hit the other, more traditional burrito ingredients. I admit I'm not familiar with Salvadorian food which apparently is differentiated by putting grilled cabbage in it's burritos. Since my first visit I've gone back to try some of their other items including their popular Pupusas which I didn't care for as bland. Everything they serve is good but just not for me. I'll go back to more traditional Tex-Mex style burritos. I'll give Super Mario's 4 stars because they have good, filling food at great prices but I think it's one of those things you either like or don't. read more

I'm picky and vegetarian. I've not been able to eat too much salvadorian food in my lifetime, mostly because they rarely have too many veggie options. Additionally, when they do they aren't really "vegetarian" vegetables - often cooked with the meat items. Super Mario's really comes through in this regard. I thoroughly interrogated (seriously must be what it feels like to them) about the veggies, beans, rice, etc and everything passes the test! Got the veggie wonder burrito. Super tasty, very fresh and extremely affordable. The only one thing that threw me off was the slightly Asian taste of the burrito. Maybe something to do with the cabbage + rice combo? When I first moved to Bellingham, this was one of the first five food-places I tried. My buddies would frequently say "Should we get a Wonder?", to which I never really knew how to reply. When I finally took them up on the offer, we hopped in the car and headed down Forest. When we pulled up to a taco truck, I became hesitant.. Not really a taco truck kinda guy. However, $6.50, 10 minutes, and one Wonder Burrito later, I was a lifetime customer. I haven't even tried anything else on the menu, I haven't needed to, I'd already found the best burrito in Bellingham. Incredibly fresh veggies, giant serving. Pupusas are a primary element of the El Salvadoran diet and the Super Mario's restaurant has the best I've tasted in the US. The cabbage slaw is also great though a little mild compared to that served in El Salvador. Interestingly we had them at the truck a few years ago and decided they weren't up to snuff. Don't know if they have improved at the truck , but don't miss them when you are at Super Mario's in the Northwest Ave neighborhood! They also have some great El Salvadoran bakery - it isn't overly sweet like most US bakery, but it is delicious. The rice cake would make a great shortcake any time of year! read more

We just moved to Bellingham, and we kept seeing the Salvadorian Burrito van on the way home, and hearing about the Wonder Burrito, especially. So, we walk over there, and it's cool, the people working there seem really nice, they have Jarritos, which is also cool, mostly because I am kind of allergic to corn and they are one soda that doesn't use corn syrup in it! Anyway, we get our Wonder Burritos, thankfully before a ton of people show up. It seems like a lot of loud homeless guys like to hang out around the van, which isn't too bad, but kind of distracting, especially because it is so quiet out there otherwise. Also, they don't give numbers or anything, and when it gets busy, it seems like everyone gets confused about whose order is whose. The burrito was pretty good though, definitely something new, and the fried cheese inside was really good. I liked mixing the two sauces more than just using one or the other. read more
