I took a couple of my coworkers after work and we were going to go to the other place that has three syllables but I'm glad that I encouraged them to try this. I can't have amila super dumpling without ordering the chocolate dumplings so let's talk about that. The chocolate filling is always super creamy and delicious and liquidy. I can't stand when a chocolate dumpling is Rock Solid in the middle. We got some delicious drinks and it was my first time having a Thai tea from Super dumpling. I had to force myself to take my time with it as I wanted to suck it down so fast. Every dish was amazing and properly cooked even though we got there just a smidge closer to closing time than I would have preferred. We ended up deciding on Super Dumpling based on location and cuisine. The restaurant is located at the northwest side of the Westfield Culver City Mall. Although there is outdoor parking on that side, it was impossible to find a space and there were many cars looking. We ended up parking closer to where the Trader Joe's is located. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted right away and seated immediately. Everyone working was very friendly and ensured that we were taken care of during the visit. Service was top-notch. The dining area was clean and relaxing. We ordered three dim sum items and shrimp fried noodles. Everything came out quickly, with the noodles being first. Overall they were fine, but a bit saltier than I prefer. The Xiao Long Bao was my favorite of the items we ordered, with the beef and potato steamed dumplings being my least favorite. If half portions were offered during dinner time, we'd have loved to have tried more items. I asked for some hot mustard, but they did not have any. I thought that it was odd that a restaurant serving Chinese cuisine would not have hot mustard. Do note that although the attributes list happy hour and full bar, there is no alcohol served. This is the second Super Dumpling location I've checked out, and as someone of Taiwanese descent, I've been pleasantly surprised at how SUPERB their menu offerings and service have been! This location is tucked in the Westfield Culver City mall, and has a large, extensive space that makes it easier to dine in compared to their other contemporary, Din Tai Fung. Personally, I love how they have more authentic Chinese dishes other than just dumplings, and I find them very fairly priced, especially for the portions you get! This location also has AMAZING lunch deals, and I would highly recommend checking them out! I ordered Mapo tofu and egg drop corn soup for takeout, and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the food came out. For Chinese food, Super Dumpling sometimes hits the spot, but they haven't exactly excelled. Some visits, service is spot-on, including very skilled upsells on the xiao long bao (actually have to admire them here!), and the xiao long bao and pot stickers aren't bad. The fried rice is also mostly on point. However... competition these days is tough. Very happy I came across this delicious dumpling restaurant today. The staff was super friendly and attentive and the food came out really fast, although the place was not that full. My favorite: the spicy chicken wontons. The sauce is sweet and umami and full of flavor and the wonton is cooked really nicely. I recommend saving that sauce to dip the buns in it. The honey walnut shrimp is also a favorite. Very original and goes really well with the walnut. The Xiao Long Bao is pretty good. The skin is on the thicker side and they might not look the most uniform but they are delicious and filled with plenty of soup. The crab and beef was the best. The chocolate XLB is sooo good. It's made with milk chocolate so for my taste I enjoyed it more than Din Tai Fung. A sugary chocolate bomb explosion in your mouth and it comes with six of them :) The orange chicken was also quite good, sweet with a present ginger taste and a nice tang along with a slight kick of spice. The beef steamed dumpling is the only dish I didn't love, wouldn't recommend, it's not bad but just not as flavorful as the other dishes and nothing stands out. Not worth getting full on that one. I really enjoyed their chili oil and another great highlight was the lychee soda. I saw them make it at the bar and I don't know how they did it but I really enjoyed it. They are not affiliated with Super Dumpling in San Diego. The restaurant does not accept reservation and is first-come first-served. Our party came here at 6 PM on Friday and the restaurant was half empty. [Parking]: Parking can be slightly difficult as the restaurant is located in Westfield Culver City, but it wasn't impossible to find an available parking spot. [Atmosphere & service]: The restaurant has a very modern vibe (quite good for a date night setting) and our waiter checked in our table and asked 'how's everything?' at least 3 times. [Menu]: The menu offers half or full portion, but half portion is only available from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM on weekdays except for holidays. Customers must order full portion for dinner hours. The top recommended dishes are chicken xiao long bao (XLB or soup dumplings), beef pan fried dumplings, and spicy chicken wonton. No biggie but the dish was not all the great. It didn't look all that appetizing when I ate it. It was bland looking food and not that great as far as taste. The hot and Sour soup is missing something...flavor? It was bland as well. decent xlb, for the westside! this place is halal, so you won't find the traditional pork xlb, only chicken and beef/crab. it's a bit inconvenient for those with sensitivities to crab but also not wanting to eat chicken. i liked that the xlb was very juicy, and though the skin was a bit thicker than i like, it managed to keep all the liquid intact. the spicy chili chicken wontons were nothing special, the sauce did not adhere to the dumplings and it was a pretty lacking flavor sauce. usually they have sacha (satay) sauce here but this was just pretty basic. the beef roll was pretty good, but it barely had any meat and had iceberg lettuce instead of cilantro..? and it didn't really have the hoisin sauce as much that is typical of this dish. we also got the chocolate xlb for dessert, and it was so delicious and not too sweet. this place is in the culver city mall. the ambiance is meh, the seats are pretty worn out and crackle like alligator skin. for all the food, bill came out to 60 :( food is generally expensive nowadays so i get it. i would rather drive out to the san gabriel valley for XLB than go here again. read more

I came specifically to try this restaurant since my mom had been raving about it. I came with my family yesterday and it was mostly everyone's first time as well. The staff was very nice and had us seated right away even though we were still waiting on two people. I was a little surprised to see that the restaurant was located inside of a mall but it had such an inviting atmosphere. The lighting was dim but not too dim and felt so fancy. Since we let them know it was our first time here, we asked for some recommendations. I appreciated the server for telling me what Xiao Long Dumplings were and his recommendation but my take away was a little different. For a restaurant with "dumpling" in their name, you'd expect that no matter what at least the dumplings are the go to but I felt differently. Some of the best food here had to have been all the entrees. I enjoyed the flavor of the soup dumplings but I wouldn't say it was my favorite. My absolute favorite was the orange chicken. My spark notes version of what to get and not to get: *Crab beef Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumpling) - the best soup dumpling to get but make sure to follow how to eat it from the tips! *****Orange Chicken - the most AMAZING orange chicken I've probably ever had ****Mongolian beef - the beef was so tender and the flavors were so explosive Pan fried beef buns (soup dumpling) - this was very difficult to eat and even when we got to the middle it felt less than a reward ***Beef pan fried dumpling - these were like more traditional dumplings that were smaller and it was actually tastier than both soup dumplings ****Chicken fried rice - It was so delicious! Ive tried plenty of fried rice because of my son but this was a very fresh and tasty dish. My son even noticed the flavors as it had an authentic taste (made in a wok). *****Corn Soup - I really did enjoy this soup (I've only ever had chicken in my corn soup) but it didn't even need chicken. I really wish they would offer a larger "family" styled amount but we made it work with two servings! If you order this, just remember there is only one size and it's a single person serving. We made it work with 2 servings amongst 5 people and still had leftovers. Usually my family and I travel to Anaheim to eat at Ma's Islamic Chinese but now we might come here more than there. I really don't like having to leave negative reviews, but I hope this will help this restaurant improve their takeout order service for future patrons. I recently ordered super dumpling to try them, given all the other positive reviews here on yelp. I'm sick at home and was really craving some dumplings and Asian flavors to get over this cold. But was extremely disappointed when my lunch order arrived and the quality of the items as well as, packaging of them was extremely subpar. The condiments that were given with my order were lacking in portion as well as quantity, and all the food arrived mildly warm and bland. The most shocking was the orange chicken, which was extremely dry and seemed to have been probably the last of their lunch order portions.
