I have been to 24 different Peruvian chicken places in Northern Virginia and Maryland and Super Chicken is hands-down, no questions asked, the very best one. Their tortillas are fantastic, but they do not have them every day. If the line is too crazy, you can always skip it by ordering a burrito or taco salad instead of the traditional quarters of chicken and wait at a table. A HUGE perk is that they now deliver in Tyson's. If you don't know what to stink your office up with for lunch, this is probably your most potent bet ;). When a group of us orders Super Chicken, everyone on the floor comes to see what it is because it smells heavenly. This is a great place for groups. Delicious go-to Saturday lunch haunt - the tasty chicken is reliably divine, hot, fresh and juicy. Portions are generous; it works out great for me to share the half chicken, which comes with two sides, although the sides - which are served out from a steamer table - can be hit or miss in terms of quality or freshness. I typically opt for the steak fries, fried plantains or side salad - the rest (e.g. rice, mixed vegetables) can be somewhat inconsistent, served lukewarm or even cold. Yet I'm willing to overlook this because everything else (service, cleanliness, casual layout) aligns. Obviously, the real star is the chicken which, when dipped into either or both of the two sauces, renders all else a moot point. The chicken noodle soup (assuming they're using stock and meat/bones from their chicken) is a surprising sleeper and a must-try during flu season. Service is usually friendly, especially if you know what to order, and the prices can't be beat. Super Chicken was Super Disappointing! I went here was high expectations. I had heard good things. Plus, SC offers plenty of extra sides and has a convenient location... however, the what I was served was NOT quality Peruvian chicken. I found the chicken to be greasy/oily and lacking in spice. Bottom line, Super Chicken doesn't come close to Pollo Rico or even Edy's. What this place does have going for them is they serve yuca, which Pollo Rico does not. However, I was underwhelmed with the food. The chicken was not very good (I think they put too much cumin - the taste was too strong), the fries were soggy, and the fried rice was meh. Love this place!!! The chicken is delicious and I love every single side. The biggest gripe I have about this place is that they charge for extra sauce. If you order 1/4 Chicken you get one of each sauce. If you order a whole chicken they give you 3 of each sauce. That makes 0 sense to me and there's one guy there that always gives me a super grumpy look when I ask for 2 more sauces I love the chicken so much though that I almost forgive them but if there's a place that opens that is almost as good but gives unlimited sauce.... who knows what will happen!!!!! read more

The Good: -Decent Value: Easy to get a very large, filling meal for under $8. I got the 1/4 White Chicken that came with two sides. For the sides, they are loaded up on the plate. It will be tough to leave hungry. The Meh: -Service leaves more to be desired: All the employees I interacted with were neither friendly nor rude, but in a service position, not being friendly is disappointing. -Decent Flavor: The chicken was tasty and juicy, the fried rice and french fries had decent flavor, but were room temperature from them sitting out. The Bad: -Food isn't fresh. I was very disheartened when I walked up to the counter and saw that all the sides were sitting under heat lamps like a buffet. This serving style had an effect on the food like I mentioned above. Even if other restaurants have prepared food ready to serve, at least you don't see it in most. Overall the restaurant is meh, I was disappointed considering it had a higher average rating from other yelpers. The whole time I was eating I couldn't help but compare it to Guapo's Rotisserie in Herndon. Same style food but cheaper prices and more of it...it also tastes hot and fresh! read more

Super Chicken is super awesome. I can't tell you how excited I am that there's a new lunch option in the area. Having worked in the Tysons area for quite some time now, there's only so many Chipotle burrito bowls, McCormick corn chowders and Perfect Pita pitas I can take. If you pop in for a visit and there's a short line, fret not! It moves pretty quickly. Seating is first come, first served so if you're here on your lunch break, best to beat the rush or come afterwards. You also have to bus your own table (duh) so don't be surprised if there are a few lingering trays if you come post-lunchtime. Offerings at SC are relatively predictable (1/4 or 1/2 dark/ white meat and all) and the choices for sides are plentiful. For example, you can get plaintains, yuca, steak cut fries, fried rice (...sure, why not), white rice and mashed potatoes with gravy, just to name a few. Best of all, any combination you get, will be pretty easy on your wallet. If you still think you'd be hungry after all that meat and carb-deliciousness, they have alfajores! The verdict is, the alfajores are tasty. Word of warning: Super Chicken is best visited using the Buddy System, as you'll probably fall into a deep food coma and will someone to help walk you out of there, Weekend At Bernie's-style. read more

Wow. I was surprised to find good and CHEAP, non-chain grub anywhere near Tyson's Corner. Super Chicken is awesome! They definitely serve some of the best non-fried chicken I've ever had. Upon entering Super Chicken, one immediately notices the giant flame roaster behind the counter with over 15 juicy-looking chickens spinning around the flame. I knew I was in for a treat. You can order 1/4, 1/2, or a whole chicken. All chicken meals comes with two sides. I'd never had Peruvian chicken so I ordered the 1/2 chicken with black beans and yucca fries ($8.25, a steal for TC). I guess the spices and flame broiling makes it Peruvian. Whatever it is, I can attest to how delicious their chicken is. The skin, the white meat, the dark meat, its all so tender and yummy! And the portions are huge! Super Chicken also offers burritos and other beef and chicken dishes, but trust me and go with the chicken meals. They literally pull a chicken out of the roaster and chop it up to order. The restaurant itself is fast casual, in that you order and then take your food and seat yourself. The place is also very clean! I feel like this food would normally be served at some hole-in-the-wall, but the place is very neat and welcoming. The staff are friendly and work diligently, but there can be language issues (they don't seem to speak English well). I am happy that I am moving from Tyson's Corner soon, but this is definitely one of the few places in the area I will miss. I came here for the first time for lunch today. First of all, if you're not familiar with the area, this restaurant is very easy to miss. It's near the Jimmy Johns on the back side. When I walked in around noon, the line was to the back door and wrapping. It was also very hot inside the restaurant. Fortunately, the line moved fast. When I got to the counter, I ordered the lunch special which is 1/2 dark meat with two sides. I'm glad I went with the 1/2 chicken because a good bit of it was bone and skin. I feel like I was able to get enough chicken with this size portion though. It had great flavor and it was tender. The lunch special also came with 2 sides. I got the yucca and spinach. The spinach is very similar to what you would get at an Indian restaurant. Both sides were very tasty! Best of all, the price was very reasonable. My lunch special was 8 dollars and some odd cents with tax. I will definitely come back for lunch some time! I'll just be sure to come earlier so I avoid the lunch crowd. read more

I went with my colleague today to Super Chicken on Leesburg. I've been there before, and have never been wowed by them. The chicken was undercooked, and soggy. I did not like it. The fries were stale, and the rice with chicken was hard and very low quality as if it had been sitting in the warmer for a while and the chicken they used was from old chicken they didn't sell. I went during busy lunch hour around 12:30PM and waited 10 minutes in line, I had high expectations of the food being fresh given that the place was busy. There are so many sides to choose from here that it's really hard to settle on two! I've tried yucca, rice, and chick peas, all of which were so flavorful. Super Chicken is one of the hidden gems in Tysons Corner, VA. I found out about this place when I moved to DC a little over a year ago and it has never disappointed. This is a place to get down on some great Peruvian style chicken with a number of sides including plantains, yucca, rice, beans, soups and salad. They even offer Inca cola which is a great touch to this restaurant. I usually get the half chicken where I can choose 2 sides for about $9 bucks. It's a great deal because I'll almost always have a portion for lunch the next day. What makes Super Chicken so good is it's chicken and green sauce. The chicken is always crispy, flavorful and delicious. You can smell it when you enter the parking lot. As for the green sauce, this is the real kicker. I don't know how it's made, but it's spicy and probably with some jalapenos and cilantro. I'll put this on everything including chicken, yucca, even chips if I have some left over from home. I would stay away from the yellow sauce because it has a mayo base. Honestly, everything I have gotten here has been great. I've never been disappointed. The problem is if you attempt to order anything off of the menu that isn't sitting there already (i.e.: sandwiches, subs, burritos, quesadillas, etc), you are going to be there forever. You can anticipate being there twenty minutes easy waiting for your food, if not longer. I once waited just shy of an hour for a burrito. It's like the employees get confused when you order anything other than the chicken. I asked him to give us a moment to look at the menu and he was made at us , he started talking in Spanish to the other workers and laughing, I knew that was about us and asked for the manager, the manager apologize for what happened and sayings that should not happen again. Finally Peruvian chicken in the Tysons area. Chicken was very tatsty cooked to perfection but.... There is a twist I eat alot of peruvian rotisserie chicken and I noticed a different taste to this one. A hint of curry or Indian spice... So I asked behind the counter and the cook confirmed that there was a hint of curry and some Pakistani or indian spice. The other reviews claimed this place was a little dirty especially for being new (4 months old ) They are right the night I went the trash cans were so full we jammed our trash in the top and the staff kinda stood around and watched. There are other Super Chickens and they are not as nice as this one and I wont dare go to the other ones because of cleanliness concerns BUt that being said this one is OK for now I only hope the management takes these comments and acts on them. read more

Amazing Peruvian chicken joint. Their chicken is always perfectly cooked and moist. The skin is never too over charred which seems to be a problem I run into with Peruvian chicken. I always get the dark meat and it is always juicy and tender. Their "yellow sauce" is the bomb. I can put that ish on anything. It is such an awesome combination of cheap/good that some of my coworkers go there 4-5 times per week (seriously). I've been the biggest fan and walking advertisement for this place since they opened. I turn on as many people as I can to this food. Unfortunately, recently, their chickens have decreased to the size of cornish game hens. You'll get a bigger piece of chicken at KFC these days. I really hope this is not in their business plan to make more money. People are paying $9 for a piece of chicken so you should make sure it's a big ass piece of chicken.
