Underground kayaking was such a cool, fun experience! It was my first time kayaking, so I was pretty nervous, but our guide was incredibly patient and kind. He took great photos of each of us and our group. The group was small, which I loved because it never felt rushed. The colorful lights you see as you make your way through the cave are very awesome. Just a heads up, your feet and bottom will get very cold! Definitely wear layers and socks. We went in the summer and were still freezing by the end. We purchased tickets a month or so ago for August 16th 12-1:30pm but we cannot go now because my husband's company is transferring us to Texas. We sent several emails with no response and called several times but no answer. I emailed them Friday, calling them out for not responding to my husband, and got a childish short hand response that we could sell them and transfer the tickets but no refunds. However they announce on their recording that they have a waitlist...so why couldn't you refund the tickets??? I can understand no refunds but when it's for a reason that is out of our control I would think they would be more understanding! Edit: if I could give a zero on their communication and attitude I would! I found someone to purchase my tickets but at an extremely discounted price from what I paid. I understand NO refunds but a little heart about us being transferred for work would have gone a long ways seeing they have a waitlist and would still be able to keep their money, but what they don't tell you is they charge on top of what you your loosing selling them to someone else is there is a $10 transfer fee to put the tickets into someone else's name! Very unprofessional and sad company taking advantage of people! read more

I can't just come to Kentucky and not try this - i've always wanted to explore this cave; unfortunately self guided was all booked so i took option for guided tour at 8pm (last showing). I had a great group - 5 seniors from Florida, a cute couple, and then it was ME. We called everyone by their states they were from. Lol! The staff was awesome and very patient with everyone - there were only about 3 people who were experienced at kayaking, so the "safety" person had to ensure to keep the others on track. I thought it was adorable because he had to prevent the seniors from running into the walls. At the end - everyone had such a great time. #bucketlist Would i do this again - YES! (Definitely will be doing self guided so i can explore the cave solo for 2hrs) Happy exploring!!! read more

I checked off a bucket list item today at Gorge Underground! We had been wanting to do the crystal clear kayaks for quite a while and are so glad we finally got down to do it. We live north of Cincinnati, OH so were able to drive the 350 mile round trip in one day, which was nice. We weren't sure how to time the trip, since we have an ev that we had to charge on the way. So, we ended up getting there an hour early and they kindly suggested we go ahead and join the group that was getting ready to go right then. My husband and I always get tandem kayaks so I was very pleased that they had them available in the clear ones. Our guide did a great job...maybe too many corny jokes, but that's probably what he's taught to do. Having some professional photos to buy at the end was a nice touch. Would highly recommend spending a few hours kayaking here! read more

We were lucky to get the last two spots for a 9 am tour the day before. I appreciated that my husband was able to be in a kayak and I was able to get on a SUP. We did the deluxe crystal clear tour with the option to purchase a photo package for $5. There were nine of us on the tour. Our tour guide was Ray and the photographer was Patrick. I was the only one on a SUP so I tended to stay near the back but between Ray's southern accent and the echo in the cave, I wasn't able to hear much of what he said but I did enjoy paddling underground with no current - it was very easy. The photo package included one individual photo of each of us and one of the two of us outside the cave plus other group shots. Because it was dark in the cave, most of these photos did not come out that well but $5 was very reasonable. This was a unique and fun experience. read more

People were nice. Acoustics in the mine were difficult. If the group was too spread out it was hard to hear. Also, around a corner or with another group nearby. Perhaps speakers at the stopping points? Asking the group if they can hear and not asking for a thumbs up from the people in the back is worthless when people in the middle say yes and the people in the back don't even hear the question. That aside, we did very much enjoy the experience. The lighting in the crystal kayaks is very pretty and the reflections off the cave walls. It is a very pleasant, easy paddle with no currents. Definitely an unique experience! We are avid kayakers and wanted to try something a bit different. The tour was interesting but if you aren't right up front, you won't be able to hear the guide. The guides are knowledgeable and are open to answering questions. It's a pretty slow paddle. We were able to watch the boat feeding the fish which was cool to see. As noted in other reviews, it's ~50 degrees in the mine and the water stays 38 degrees. I knew that we would not be wearing our shoes in the kayaks because I read the fine print. I did not realize we'd be taking our shoes off on a wet dock before getting into them. Your feet/socks become soaked with 38 degree water before sitting in 50 degree mine for 1.5 hours. They do offer sock/glove rentals but we declined because they didn't explain WHY they were offering them. If I knew this, I would have rented their socks, brought extra socks or small hand towel to dry off. Overall, it was an unique paddle and I'm pleased we got to experience it. read more

This place was freaking awesome! We did the glass kayak tour in the cave at night. We had the 9:00 PM reservation on October 17th, 2024. Our tour guides, Andrew and Zack were awesome! They were super nice, they told us a lot about the history of the mine and the various areas and things in it! There were also fish in the water, and some of them swam under my boat! The boats also had LED lights where they would change the color based on what you requested! This place was awesome! I would love to come back! read more

Amazing time on the deluxe tour with the crystal clear bottom kayaks. Jacob B (aka blue shirt) and Nick were awesome guides. My daughter got stuck toward the beginning of the tour and Nick came to her rescue (the tour is set up with one tour guide at the front and one at the back to make sure we stayed together). Nick ended up clipping my daughter's kayak onto his kayak so she could enjoy herself. Jacob was at the front of the tour; he had a good mix of interesting facts and funny jokes. He made it very engaging and would constantly ask if we could hear him (he had a microphone on as well, which helped). The photo album package was only $5 online ahead of time, which is a great deal. Although they give you photos of the whole group in the tour and not segmented out for just your own family. Also, I suggest renting the neoprene socks. Super reasonable to rent and it helps to keep your feet warm. And like their website recommends, definitely bring an extra pair of socks. Even though I had the neoprene socks on, my feet still got wet. Overall it was a great unique experience - highly recommend! read more

Really enjoyed the tour, super nice guide. Unfortunately we were given wrong information and were told, at the beginning, that the girl coming with us would take pictures during the tour. Pictures of us, on the paddle board and in the kayak. She did not take any and just send us the individual pictures (winch look terrible by the way, not in the atmosphere of the caves at all). So big disappointment on our part as we didn't get pictures and if we would have known that, we would have done things differently. But definitely an good experience and fun/unique activity. read more

We did the glow kayak tour in the mine and it was FANTASTIC!! Our guide, Patrick, and safety guide, Wil, were a dynamic duo. It literally couldn't have been easier getting into/out of the boats--and I am NOT a kayaker. I was a little worried that I would not be able to keep up with the tour, but I shouldn't have been!! The path is easy to navigate, the information provided by Patrick was interesting and fun, and they gave us step by step directions for everything along the way. I can't recommend SUP Kentucky highly enough!! If you go, ask for Patrick and Wil!! They won't lead you astray! read more

We had a great experience on this tour with Nick and Preston. Once at the dock, they let us choose between individual kayaks and tandem. The clear kayaks with the fun choice of LEDs made it easier to see the water and fish. It is a relaxed pace and the guides (one in the front and one in the back) were great. Fantastic combination of dad/ rock jokes and some good history. I was also very grateful to them as a member of our group had a minor mobility issue and the guides were so patient. A few tips to make your trip even better ...I highly recommend bringing your own light pair of gloves and paying the $2 to rent the neoprene socks. (They are cleaned between visitors.) Bringing wool or thick socks to put on after the tour is also *very nice (may want to bring an extra pair of shorts/pants as some people i noticed got a bit wet around the calf and backside). Also the pictures are a fun and affordable add-on. Book in advance, especially on weekends, as this is popular. read more

Had a lot of fun at SUP Kentucky May 2022. My friend and I went crystal glow kayaking and it was about $86 a person. BUY THE PHOTO ADD ON, ONLINE!!! It was only $5!!! They take a picture of your party before entering the cave, sitting in the kayak, paddling throughout the cave and various preprogrammed pics that are emailed/texted to you after the tour. Sooo worth it! Most places charge $20-$50 for photos. $5 was a steal. The tour itself was super cool! You wear light athletic gear, but are required to wear a life jacket, helmet with flashlight and you have to wear SOCKS ONLY in the kayak or go barefoot (I highly recommend socks or your feet will get cold and ew, unsanitary barefoot) lol. You can choose the led color of your kayak. The tour was a little over an hour (even though it said 1.5 hours). I felt a little jipped on the time, but not horrible. The tour guide talked about some history and the cave itself floating through, however I was happier floating along at my own pace exploring/looking around that I didn't listen too much to be honest. I enjoyed my time and look forward to coming back in the future with my boyfriend! read more

Great adventure! Worth the money, we enjoyed. Only complaint is you cannot hear your guide speaking so most of the trip is by sight. They really could invest in headphone speakers so everyone can hear. Also, someone forgot their phone in a life jacket from the tour before ours. We found it in my brothers ife jacet so I am pretty sure it wasn't sanitized. They really need to sanitize helmets especially! read more

History of the mine was interesting and the kayaking was very cool. Guides were great, equipment was all new and the cave was amazing.

This was a unique and neat experience. We did the deluxe crystal kayak tour. However, we felt it was underwhelming for what is advertised. The two young guys that were our guides spent quite a bit of time goofing off, it got to be a bit annoying and we felt there was way more cheesy joking going on rather than informative information. The included photo album amounted to a picture of us outside of the mine, a blurry photo when we launched, and then a set of pre-canned images that were really cool, but were of things we did not see in the mine; which makes me wonder if there were sections we weren't shown. I recommend taking a phone/camera of your own to capture images. Lastly the tour only lasted about 45 minutes. We got a late start, spent quite a bit of time slowing going to the launch, and then what seemed like a very short time actually kayaking. It was definitely not a 1.5 hour trip as advertised. We were glad to have the experience, but would not do it again for the price we paid. read more

SUP Kentucky runs a good operation, everything runs smoothly and professionally. Our kayak guides, Tyler and Chase, were friendly, extremely helpful and very tuned into the safety of everyone. The mine was big and somewhat interesting but probably not worth 90 minutes. Since it's man made there weren't a lot of unique points of interest, but it did have a cool vibe to it. I can't give it 5 stars because I personally feel it's a bit overpriced. It's chilly inside, I would recommend renting the neoprene gloves and socks. Make sure to take your own pictures because I guess ours taken by the guides didn't turn out and/or they didn't send them as promised. Sadly we have nothing to show. read more
