Above and beyond expectations!!! These guys deserve 10 stars, not 5! So my wife decided to install solar pool heating for our home in San Ramon. I contacted several vendors, including Diablo Solar, who straight up told us they don't want to or cannot do the job, because we already had solar PV electric on the roof. When Suntrek came with Tabitha, it was a TOTALLY different experience! She presented a clear project plan with several options, using different parts of the roof and different materials. After deciding on the roof real estate and the material, they did an on-site visit where we decided to INCREASE the total installment area. They came out, installed everything in 2 days as agreed upon, staying professional with time, noise, quality and sticking to plan. But then! While testing the system, we found that my existing return pipe under the concrete was leaking. After some digging, we discovered the return pipe was broken with a big hole on it. Remember: this was an existing pipe I bought the home with, not something Suntrek installed for me newly. Suntrek could have told me to go to another company for the fix, as digging under concrete and fixing pipes isn't their specialty. Instead, they offered to help me out! We found a solution that didn't require cutting concrete or extensive digging with removal of plants. And the entire broken pipe under concrete fix only took an hour an a half with a very minor cost. I couldn't be happier. Knowing what I know now, I'd go with them again in a heartbeat. If you're considering adding solar pool heating to your system, go with Suntrek. You will NOT regret it! I had my pool solar installed and the old unit removed. I was in the process with another solar pool company two weeks earlier but the rep failed several times to return calls. I called Suntrek and talked to Tabby. She was great and reassuring. Both company prices were comparable, within $200, but Suntrek offered service. Suntrek did not have available date til mid August but Tabby told me that they possibly will have early dates if I was flexible. Within a week, of our agreement, Tabby called with a cancellation and I had my pool solar installed with one week! A three person crew showed up and completed the work in 3 hours. Suntrek performed a season ending shutdown on our pool solar system today and their tech, Rene, was very professional in his approach in not only performing the mechanical work (checking valves/pumps, cleaning under the panels, etc. on the roof) but spent time being thorough which included checking the control panel for all the proper settings. Rene had trouble getting power to one of the valves and allowed me to call the pool service providers (Coral Pool Service - which recommended Suntrek) to identify a loose/faulty circuit breaker. We have had the installation to heat our pool for about 5 years. It is serviced on a semiannual basis each November and April. It has worked well over that time period and has not needed much beyond the routine servicing. The pool Is temperature is maintained in the 80s despite the fact that air temperatures routinely drop into the mid 50s each night. I have found the northern CA staff to be responsive, courteous and efficient. read more

I am updating this review from the one star I gave originally. For now I am keeping my previous review at the bottom since it provides context as well as an accurate description of our experience. Thanks entirely to Tabby (who is, as many other reviewers commented, fabulous, and really cares about her customers), we now have a functional solar system. She coordinated with Enphase (the manufacturer of the battery and switch system) to replace the switch and the Gateway/Envoy (which is responsible for communicating between the battery, the panels, the grid and the user). This solved our problem....for 4 hours. Then the battery stopped responding and went dead again. I spent the weekend attempting to communicate with Enphase (who outsource their support to India through a chat that kicks you out after a minute if someone has not typed something) to no avail. Tabby then arranged for an electrician to come here (again) and open and close various breakers in the order prescribed by Enphase. This re-set a relay and since then the system has been working (7 days and counting!) Communication does seem to be a challenge for Suntrek. I do see other reviews mentioning the problems they have contacting customer service, so I don't think this experience is unique to us. However as long as you have Tabby's number, she will look after you and try to solve whatever problem you have. Here is my previous review: We talked to Suntrek in December of 2021. Originally we were looking for solar water heating, but ended up having them install a 15 panel solar array with battery backup (at a cost of over $40,000). Installation took about 6 months instead of the 12 weeks we were promised, and throughout the process it was challenging to get reliable progress updates. The only communication that could be relied upon was the swift arrival of an invoice for each step as it was eventually completed. The installation process had 2 major issues. The first was when the installation crew put a nail through the roof and into an existing circuit that cut power to part of the house. We had to hire another electrician to diagnose and fix the problem, though to Suntrek's credit they did provide a discount from the final invoice in the amount of the second electrician's bill. The second issue was that the backup battery was installed incorrectly. Luckily this was spotted by the battery manufacturer during the 2 week period where we were waiting between City permit sign off and PG&E authorization to turn on the system, or there could have been some really bad consequences. The system finally began producing power in the beginning of June. Now at the end of July we have just returned from vacation to find that the system appears dead, the microinverters are not talking to the gateway, the battery has no charge (which will probably cause some irreversible damage), we are just using power from the grid while the sun is at peak power, AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET HOLD OF SUNTREK! I tried calling the number for service: it rings and rings and then just goes dead. Same for the number for project management. The only number that connects...is the one for new sales. read more

We had solar pool heating panels as well as solar electric panels installed. We actually had the pool up to 95 degrees at one point, which was a bit on the warm side. But the system is adjustable and we were able to lower the temp as needed. We just want to tell you how happy we are with you, Tabby, and Suntrek. I read a lot of horror stories (reviews) about other peoples experiences with solar and you have exceeded all of my expectations. You and your whole team have been super responsive at every email, text and phone call. Yes the whole process took a couple of months, but we were forewarned and it was not unexpected. read more

Worst communication and even worse help after the fact. I had a simple fix issue, I changed my WiFi provider and tried to update the gateway myself which kept locking up. I asked for some help from Suntrek, Tabitha specifically, and received nothing. I had tons of trouble getting my second system installed with the lack of help from the company. Unfortunately, this is the way they treat their costumers. If I had it to do all over again, I would definitely go with another provider!!! We had Suntrek Pool Solar put in January 2023. We were scheduled to have it install in the last week of December 2022. The weather turn to a weeks of heavy rains. The office stay in contact with us to reschedule two or three times during all the stormy weather!!!! Suntrek schedule the first sunny day we had. They came out with three guys in the morning and was finish by 2:30 PM!!!! This was our second Suntrek Pool Solar. In Feb 2023 we completed our pool solar and PV solar combo installation. We were first time solar owners so naturally we had many questions initially which Tabby very clearly and thoroughly answered. The installation process went very smoothly and professionally. There was some delay to replace a broken tile that occurred during final inspection however it turned out to be a miscommunication. Once Tabby was aware of this situation she made the effort to resolve it after hours and by the next morning, Suntrek had someone out to fix the tile.
