Their representative repeatedly assured me in writing that there were "no upfront fees or deposit required" and agreed to prepare contingency language allowing me to cancel without penalty if the funding was insufficient. After months of follow-ups, delays, and waiting for management to finalize the paperwork, I was suddenly informed that the company had implemented a "new process" requiring a non-refundable $1,000 payment before they would process the application, engineering review, or other preliminary work.

Before posting this review, I made every reasonable effort to resolve these issues directly with the company. I sent a formal letter over a year and a half ago outlining my concerns and requesting assistance, but I never received a response. More recently, I sent another detailed email, giving the company 14 days to respond with a plan to address these longstanding issues. That deadline has now passed, and once again, I received no response. This company installed my solar system in 2016. At the time of purchase, I was given expectations regarding the amount of energy the system would produce and the savings it would provide. Unfortunately, those expectations have never been met. In nearly ten years, my system has never produced the level of solar energy that was represented when I made this investment. As a result, I have spent thousands of dollars out of pocket on Southern California Edison bills that I reasonably expected my solar system would significantly reduce. Instead of receiving the savings I was promised, I have continued paying far more for electricity than I ever anticipated. What has been most disappointing is the lack of follow-through. The company has been aware of issues with my system for years, yet they remain unresolved. Despite numerous phone calls and emails over the years, I have received little to no communication, no meaningful updates, and no proactive effort to correct the ongoing problems. There were also issues from the very beginning. When my system was installed in 2016, I was never provided with the monitoring equipment that was supposed to come with it, nor was I informed that there was a monitoring app available. Without those tools, I had no way of monitoring my system's production or knowing that it was consistently underperforming. After years of phone calls and emails to the corporate office, I finally got someone to come out in 2023 to install the monitoring equipment that should have been installed from the beginning. It was only then that I learned there was an app that allowed me to monitor my system. During that same visit, the technician determined that my microinverters needed to be replaced. The replacement microinverters were shipped to my home, and the technician returned to pick them up for installation. However, the work was never completed. The technician left with the new equipment and never returned to finish the job. Despite additional attempts to follow up, I was once again left without answers or a resolution. I understand that mistakes happen and that every company occasionally encounters challenges. However, this is no longer a matter of a simple mistake or a temporary inconvenience. This has been an unresolved issue for nearly a decade. My goal has never been to leave a negative review. My goal has always been to have the solar system I paid for perform as it was represented and to have the company stand behind its product and installation. Unfortunately, after almost ten years, thousands of dollars in unexpected utility costs, years of unanswered phone calls and emails, an incomplete repair, and two formal written requests that went unanswered, I have been left with no meaningful communication and no resolution. I sincerely hope this review encourages the company to finally contact me, complete the repairs that should have been completed years ago, thoroughly evaluate my system, determine why it has consistently failed to meet the promised production, and stand behind the product they sold me. If the company reaches out with a genuine commitment to resolving these issues, I will gladly update this review to reflect that experience. I would much rather write about a company that ultimately made things right than one that chose not to.

Will update when I hear back. Would not recommend SolarMax at this point until they improve their customer service. Look into other companies and their service reviews since you will most likely have to contact them multiple times with questions about the system/billing. They were very prompt and quick with reaching out and getting back to us when they were trying to sell us solar. However, now that we have been customers for years and our sales rep left, it takes multiple calls to even get through to customer service and then multiple follow up calls after since they have to email other departments to get an answer and do not call back. It seems like they are short staffed and for a big company like this should invest in more staff for customer service. That way they can provide the same experience we received in the beginning. It's been almost a month after I initially contacted them and my question still has not been answered. Seems like there is only one customer service rep and she definitely needs help.

    My family and I had solar panels installed by SolarMax several years ago. Recently, we noticed…read morewater damage in multiple areas of our home. After inspecting the roof, I discovered a very concerning issue. When SolarMax installed the solar panels, they hired a roofing company to modify the roof beforehand. That roofing work was never properly completed, leaving a large section of the roof without shingles and exposing bare wood. As a result, there are now multiple areas of our home showing signs of water intrusion and possible mold. I immediately contacted SolarMax and informed them that this was an urgent matter requiring prompt attention. More than 24 hours have passed, and I have not received a response. I was told they would reach out to the roofing company they used, but there has been no follow-up. What I do not understand is how SolarMax could proceed with installing the solar panels, mark the job as completed, and leave our home with such a significant roofing defect. I am extremely concerned about the potential extent of the damage to our home, as well as the possible health implications for my family. I have never had allergies in the past, yet I began experiencing them shortly after the panels were installed, which raises serious concerns about mold exposure. I am hopeful that SolarMax will take responsibility for this issue and fully address both the roofing defect and any resulting damage to our home. However, I am very disappointed by the lack of communication and urgency shown so far.

Natasha was professional and very clear with communication from the start. She set proper expectations on communication with Tesla would take a week or two. The day she received the go ahead from Tesla she called and scheduled the install asap 4 days out. Later the same day they had a cancellation and were able to get everything scheduled the next day. Anthony and Jeremiah arrived at the beginning of the arrival window! They were professional, great with communication, and ready to work. I had several questions and they were prepared for all of them and super helpful. The battery removal and install took less than an hour. Naturally Tesla's update took twice as long. LOL. Still total time was under 3 hours. I have managed 100s of installers and worked in Solar, this was a fantastic expierence! Because the Tesla 3 has more storage than the 2 I asked about adding some of my Breakers to the back-up and they had options for us to do that. Obviously we Highly Recommend This Team!

The installers were awesome and got me going quickly. So regarding the communication issues I had with the company, things happen, people get busy and sometimes delays do occur. I'm just glad we were able to get everything resolved. Pricing, I did get a couple of additional quotes and Option One blew them out of the water. Could it be those other companies assumed I needed the parts and labor? Maybe, but I was very clear that I had the parts already. Bottom line it never hurts getting quotes and going from there. Service, so I got all the paperwork done yesterday early afternoon and was scheduled today (5/1) at 8am. I do realize there needs to be a buffer between appointment time and actual arrival time, I usually just assume an hour after the appointment time. But the techs were here at almost exactly 8am. As I have very limited knowledge on solar panels, the fact none of them fell off my roof (panels or techs) and nothing blew up, then it's safe to say they did a fantastic job. In the end my system is fixed and I'm happy. Also if I ever need work done on my system again I'm calling these guys up.

    Update for my review with OC - Savannah from customer service reached out regarding my experience…read moreand expressed regret over how things went and changes were actively happening at the company. She offered a free panel cleaning, which she set up internally and had their team come out this past Friday without issue. Since the cleaning the panels have been much better performing especially after these past few weeks of misting and rain, about 25% higher output. I didn't think much of it but I get now it's worth doing to get the most out of the panels. Overall a very good response and experience with OC specifically for this issue. I feel that they do want to stand out from the crowd and responding proactively to feedback gives me more confidence they'll take care of issues as they hear about them.

Rising electricity rates, AI data centers consuming massive amounts of power, and talk of double digit rate increases made going solar the right thing to do. I researched heavily. Built a spreadsheet. Interviewed over a dozen companies. Got bids through Energy Sage, cold called installers, and asked around for referrals. I wasn't looking for a sales pitch. I was looking for people I could trust with my home and my family's security. Infinity Solar felt different from the start. I didn't have to deal with brokers or middlemen to jack up prices. They are family owned, in business over 25 years, BBB A+ rated, and 5 stars on Yelp. Tim, the owner is a C10 licensed contractor, sets the tone for the entire company. His pride and commitment to doing things right shows up in every person on his team. Sara, our project manager, kept everything organized with clear, proactive communication. Blake handled the maze of permitting. If you've dealt with solar permitting in California you know what a mess it is. State, county, city, and fire department all with their own rules. Blake stayed on top of all of it so I didn't have to. Joel made sure the job site ran smoothly. The crew deserves real recognition: electricians Adrian, Ivan, Salvador, and Christian; roof lead Arni; installers Jose, Gabriel, Kieren, Israel, Erik, and Robert; and Deyvis helping with inspection. They showed up on time, worked hard, kept everything clean, and answered my endless questions without ever making me feel like I was in the way. Construction always has bumps. Permits get revised, inspectors want changes. What mattered was how Infinity handled it. Calmly, professionally, and without disappearing. Tim must be a good boss and take care of his people because this is a crew of highly skilled workers who take real pride in what they do. The day the system went live felt like a turning point. Our first outage was December 23rd while setting up for a Christmas party. Power was out over eight hours. The lights never flickered. I only knew because the app alerted me. Tim included a Solar Insure 30 year warranty covering panels, microinverters, wiring, and roof penetrations, including labor. It's backed by an A+ Superior rated third party insurer and is transferable if I sell my home. An installer's warranty is useless if they go out of business, so this gives real peace of mind. Because I verify everything, I called Solar Insure, Enphase, FranklinWH, and REC directly to confirm Infinity is a Premium or Platinum installer with each. They are. I'll break even in 8 years at current rates, sooner when rates keep climbing, and you know they will. But more than savings, it's peace of mind. When the grid goes down, our house doesn't.
