I went in looking for a pair of swim shorts and when I saw that these short, that could've been thrifted from a dollar general were 53 dollars, I let my friend know we probably wouldn't afford anything in there. the owner who had been following us around raised her voice and said that we shouldn't say the price so loud, that we could leave if we didn't like it. truth is , no one would. so we left. She was disrespectful to customers who were still interested in looking around. it's amazing she even gets business when she's so rude. read more

They have thousands of different bathing suits and fun clothing that represents island living. They also have accessories and gift items to buy. Never have i ever experienced this kind of profiling. i'm in shock so disappointed. We're in st. Augustine she gets tons of tourists and she follows us around the store... Ridiculous! The woman that was working inside was very rude to my friend because she had seen a price of an overpriced bathing suit top($125) and laughed out loud. Keep in mind my friend had no idea the woman had walked behind her. The lady said she needed to work on her manners and then said "this is why I dont allow children in my shop" and proceeded to kick us out for "making fun" of the price of the bathing suit top. She corralled us out of her shop and slammed the door behind us. If I could put a negative review I would. read more

On the sale rack the store mix and matches tops w bottoms to suit them (brands do not have to match). As a consumer, spending $86 for one suit on sale the sales person would not allow me to find a bottom that I liked. The bottom they paired w the top was a busy, multi-print skirt that was quite ugly. Even though I was the one spending the money she wouldn't allow me to find an alternative stating "I can't sell that bottom" and she would not consider finding a different bottom stating "I will only sell this top w this bottom." She also told me "You don't understand how sales works." She would only sell the sale top by itself w purchase of an additional suit which I told her didn't fit me as well. Then she refused to sell me anything and stormed away. read more

Lol No help I spend 300 something there would of spent way more , but they make you feel awkward just staring at you.. Both need retraining in retail.. such a joke .. Love this place... I have been traveling back and forth to St.Augustine for a good few years now and always make it priority to go shopping here. They have an amazing inventory of swimwear for all shapes and sizes and there is no judgment. I was prepared to pay up to $200 for a quality and well-fitted swimsuit. I was extremely disappointed in the level of service and assistance. The young blond woman, maybe the owner's daughter, was borderline rude when I asked for assistance with sizing. "Look for your bra size" and pointed to the wall. My daughter looked for possible suits and brought them to the dressing room. The owner did look for tankini bottoms to match a top we liked, but could not find the exact size and color. I bought a suit but mostly because my daughter worked to find something. The quality of the suit is similar to one I picked up at Marshall's, so I will not return or recommend because of poor service for the upscale price. read more

If I could give this place a minus 5, I would. The ladies there were pushy, brought me over suits that didn't fit properly, but kept telling me that it looked good. I commented on the bikini bottoms being to tight and making me look fat and the one lady said "Well you said that you are joining a gym so they will fit fine" I did not feel comfortable about the purchase, but the 2 ladies kept saying how great it looked. When I got home, I tried it on with more mirrors and the top was a cup size to big.. the bottoms were atleast a size too small.. it was ridiculous. They had closed at that point. I called the next day to see if I could just exchange the sizes, the tags were still on.. they told me no. I had spent $150 for a suit that didn't fit, that they talked me into getting.. I called a few days later and spoke with Megan. She was beyond rude and yelled at me on the phone. They just lost future business. I would NEVER shop there again and I hope that others read this and think twice about shopping there. I called the manufacturer of the swimsuit and they couldn't believe that the store wouldn't even let me do an exchange for another size, especially since it hadn't been used and the tags were still on. She even told me not to go back to them again. The most unprofessional place that I have ever been to. And their selection wasn't that great. read more

Absolute worst place. The owner is super rude. Sizes run really small. Way over priced. Owner insinuated that I was fat which is why I couldn't find something that would fit me. With that being said I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The yuppy owner needs to work on her customer service. NO! Why shop there when I can get it someplace else for way less money and return it if I need to? Sunshine Shop has very high prices. I found the exact same suits both online and in nearby shops for much cheaper. Worst of all, this store has a very rigid and terrible return policy--they won't let you return or even exchange items. They will not budge on this policy. The owner of the store would not allow me to exchange a TOP for a larger size! Customer service is very important to me. I am taking my business where they appreciate me!!! Sunshine Shops prices are just too high and their not allowing returns or exchanges is unacceptable to me. I had been going to the Sunshine Shop sporadically for years. They are overpriced, but they do have hard to fit sizes. I recommended it to a friend, who bought a bathing suit bottom and two tops (~$200). When she returned home, her husband didn't like one top and she found the other one uncomfortable. None of what she bought was on sale. When she returned 3 days later and tried to exchange the tops (tags still on - never worn), she was told that all sales were final, and the owner was unyielding. What a disappointment - you expect decent customer service when you pay top dollar. I am embarrassed to have recommended this shop. read more

My boyfriend and I found this shop while we were camping in the area. I rarely buy bathing suits but I knew it was time and I wanted to purchase a few before heading back to Maryland. I found the Sunshine Shop online and I was attracted to the website...so we went! As a woman, bathing suit shopping is very difficult. This shop sells tops and bottoms as separates, which is a major plus when finding the perfect suit. Megan was incredibly nice and honest and provided me with one-on-one customer service. She found me the correct sizes I needed and, after learning which types of suits fit my body style the best, picked out other options that I may like. I purchased two suits and a cover-up, then we headed farther south for the week. All week, I wished I had purchased two additional suits. Finally, I called there and advised them that I would be passing back through. Megan remembered exactly which other two suits I had wanted, and even remembered the correct sizes...and had them set out for me!
