Visited the shops in the colonial area of St. Augustine Saturday with my 11 year old daughter. We were enjoying some quality time and retail therapy, but what we got was far from enjoyable. Shortly after entering the Vintage Clothing Company, the shopkeeper (she later said that she was the owner) began ranting to a customer at the counter as the customer was attempting to check out. The shopkeeper was quite loud and was the only thing we could hear as we looked around. She was talking about other customers and how she kicked them out of the shop, that they were "black" and she gets so tired of "those people", "and of course they tried to make it about race, ugh, I can't stand them." I was so appalled that I immediately removed my daughter. If this woman is an employee, she should be fired. If she's the owner then she should be boycotted. This behavior is simply disgusting and inconceivable in 2019.

I enjoy going in here & shopping around. Not just a clothing store. They have lots of souvenirs & knickknacks. Prices are reasonable.

I don't know if it's because i'm brown, but I was watched like a hawk by the associates while older white guys were free to roam the store without harassment. I had two girls in close proximity to me at all times while I browsed. All items have a security tag on it so it doesn't make sense to be watched like that. I had two girls watching me as I returned from the fitting room and pulled out the pieces that I wanted. The women's fitting room is exposed to the public so husbands and male associates can directly see into the fitting room when you open the door and are in your underwear (asking for another size, or wanting a full-body view in a mirror). I had the pieces that i wanted in hand, but decided to get a different bottom. After spending $250 (I found the ONLY 3 sets in my D cup and Large size bottoms) I asked if i could look at the sun glasses at the register. The girls at the register said they'd keep my bag (that i just paid for) at the counter. I felt eyes on me and saw both girls at the counter staring at me while they checked out other people at the register. An older white guy was at the counter and the girl asked who helped him today he said "nobody." It was so creepy. I also paid full-price for frayed bikinis, and an over-reach of surveillance (even tho it's all tagged) just because they are the only shop in town with bikinis and i'm visiting. Just order cheaper sets online before your vacation here. Save yourself the humiliation and save on your budget. You could make some money if you want to document, and sue for racial profiling and harassment.

The selection of men's tropical shirts is really great, often bargains on clearance. Womens name-brand clothing is FL heat friendly. Walking in, the store is clean and well organized (kind of hard to find the Plus Size section, but frankly, that's pretty normal... they always hide us in the back). Departments were marked well, with ample signage, and sales were well advertised. Racks were clean and straight, there wasn't any mess in the walkways or overflowing tables of tee-shirts. It was a relaxing, stress-free, shopping experience. Even on an early Saturday morning, this store was not busy at all, which I prefer. Clothing definitely skews toward "Ladies Who Lunch in Florida," - you won't find anything super-trendy that your teenager would wear. This is for stylish mature women who live in FL and need to look amazing, put together, and cool, all at the same time. Clothing fabrications reflect those needs, too, with light and airy options that won't make us sweat (I shopped in April). Fitting rooms were nicely-sized, with a solid door (not a curtain), and a chair. One gripe... there were only two hooks for clothes (I like to have hooks for "Try On," "Buy," and "Put Back" options). Within the fitting room, but outside the individual stalls, was a three-way mirror so you could get a really good look at your outfit to make sure you'll look good coming AND going! As I said at the beginning, the check-out staff was what really dropped the quality of my experience. There was no employee at one counter, so I went to the other one, where there was one lady doing a return, and doing it *very* slowly... It took her probably 5 minutes to complete it AFTER I'd already gotten there, so who really knew how long it took from start to finish! I think it took 15 minutes for me to check out with my two simple items. However, even though she was slow, the cashier was extremely friendly, so a point in her favor! I like this location, and I like the clothing sold in this store, so I guess I just have to decide if the long wait to pay is worth the affordable stylish clothing?

I have a sweatshirt from Deerfield Beach I love and thought I would be able to find something similar here. As I walked in, it became overwhelming due to the size of the store and the abundance of merchandise. There is so much merchandise that it becomes difficult to walk around without zig zagging. It was not super busy but there were enough people in there to make it difficult to navigate throughout the store. I found the sweatshirt area immediately but it was frustrating because many of the sweatshirts were hung on the walls. There were racks on the floor that also had sweatshirts but they were not all in the same area. While I was searching for what I wanted, I came across a huge, dead palmetto bug in the middle of the floor. It was then that I started speeding up my exploring and headed towards the register. I did find the sweatshirt I wanted but there were limited sizes and items, maybe a total of 8 sweatshirts of that particular kind. Cost almost $40, which I think is overpriced. The employee at the register was friendly.
