Mark Leon and the crew from Sunshine Arbor Care (part of Sunshine Landscape) were excellent to work with. They were professional, respectful of our property, got the job done safely and quickly. We were fortunate these folks were willing and able to assist us with the prompt assessment and removal of a problematic tree on our property line. In fact - they went above beyond! In addition to removal of the felled tree, they also removed a few pesky offshoot trees, old shrubbery, and previously cut branches that were in the way. Mark kindly included this additional work in the original price! Truly an excellent value for their service, and we would not hesitate to recommend them for any job requiring a licensed arborist. As a side note: Please do yourself a big favor and go with a professionally licensed (and insured) arborist, not an amateur handyman. I have been seeking people and services to do this job for a while, and there's some shady folks out there. I'll tell you from experience: a $5k quote from some guy in a pickup truck just to cut down the tree is NOT the way to go. (Mark and crew did that AND removed the tree for disposal ...for LESS!) Said person couldn't even produce a business card, let alone proof of a business license. Hey, buddy - just because someone in the neighborhood had you do some handy work for them, it DOES NOT mean you can safely fell a 2 story tall tree that's less than 10 feet from our roofline. Also beware of lowball offers from some guys driving around the neighborhood. If anyone gets hurt or something goes wrong - bad times. It's worth the price for having the job done right when you have a contract with a reasonable professional. read more

Mark and his team did a wonderful job. Mark is incredibly knowledgeable on everything from plant care, to irrigation, to arborist services. They went above and beyond for me and I highly recommend his this company. read more

We live in Kaneohe and had been a while since doing a major yard landscape cleanup. Mark was easy to get in touch with and came out to go over our yard and give us a quote. We scheduled work and he and his crew were there as promised. They did a fantastic job trimming several trees and thinning out / shaping several hedges that we have. They look great. All was chipped, hauled away and the yard cleaned up. We are very happy and recommend Mark / Sunshine Landscape. read more

I requested advice from Sunshine Landscape Company on 31 May 25 as to whether and how to address increased growth in my large Fern Tree. I was anticipating being told how to prune. Mark Leon, President, made a house call without a charge. He pointed out that Fern Trees are not indigenous and are, in fact, invasive. They grow very quickly in this environment and therefore are not very strong. I appreciated his candor and am now considering another approach to the Fern Tree. read more

Mark from Sunshine Landscape Company, Inc. was amazing, polite, and extremely helpful. In just one short consultation, he was able to suggest an easy fix for our ongoing drainage problem. For years, water has pooled on top of our brick patio. We thought for sure we would have to have a trench built with a French drain. Instead, Mark provided us with two easy suggestions that could save us thousands, and we can do the work ourselves! Thank you, Mark! read more

We called Sunshine Landscaping to help deal with pests on hibiscus and citrus plants in Nuuanu. Mark came to give estimate but instead gave us excellent recommendations about what does and doesn't grow in Nuuanu. Instead of trying to get our business which would have cost a small fortune, he recommended other fixes to our problem. Super helpful and honest! Highly recommend! read more

We had a very tall coconut tree that were leaning towards our neighbor's property in Hauula and looked around for a safe secure tree removal service. We're happy to have hired Mark's Sunshine Landscape company because he takes pride in his work and specially his awareness with safety as top priority which is our number one asset we look for with this type of service. The huge coconut tree was removed in a timely manner. I also really appreciated Mark's punctuality and communication arriving spot on time he promised to start the removal. I highly recommend Sunshine Landscape and will hire him again in the future. read more

I had a ficus tree growing into and attaching to my roof, as well as starting to grow under my neighbors fence. I called Mark of Sunshine Landscaping. He was incredibly friendly and efficient. He showed up on time and took down the tree, which really saved my roof and my relationship with my neighbor. I am definitely recommending Mark to all my friends and family. read more

Very satisfied! We hired Mark for a job removing huge, dangerous (limb dropping) invasive trees from our property, and he and his team did a great job! Now we can safely access the whole property! Talk about a pro! From estimate to completion Mark Leon and team were respectful, accommodating, clean and efficient. Our job was a small one for them (2 mature mangoes and an old macadamia) but a big job to us. Mark made us feel at ease, answered our questions and delivered on the day within 15 minutes of his estimated time. When the team left, the trees were clean, light was pouring through the branches again and the yard, spotless. I would recommend Mark and his team without hesitation and look forward to a long relationship with Sunshine Landscape Company, INC. read more

Contacted to have a tree removed, several other trees trimmed and a dead tree removed. Both trees were removed and stumps grounded so they don't result in possible tripping on the remnants or roots. Mark was able to do all of this work within a single day, even bringing the stump grinder on a second trip since the area doesn't have much street space. He also was able to provide the best advice for the yard health going forward. Thank you Mark for the great job! read more

Sunshine Landscaping did great work for me. They trimmed my huge mango tree without butchering it so that it can still bear fruit. They also protected the foundation of my house from further mango tree root damage, by installing a barrier in my yard. Mark is a very knowledgeable and polite arborist who has an incredible knowledge of trees. He and his staff were very hard working, polite and professional. I'm going to hire them every year from now on. read more

Mark has cut trees for me on two occasions. We live along a stream and access to the cut area is down a 12' slope and across the stream. He is a skilled arborist and good at rigging. He has specialized heavy equipment also that helped with the project. For me, it was the fact that the crew used safety gear, hard hats, etc. Everything worked out as planned and on schedule. Good work. read more

Mark is a master of his trade. We have had the pleasure of working with him over the last year to rid our property of invasive java plum trees, gunpowder trees, California grass, trench digging, etc. Mark is brilliant and I would completely trust him with any aspect of land management. He's been doing this work for decades-- specifically here in Hawai'i. He really understands how to work the land and truly cares about taking care of it. Not only is he knowledgeable, Mark has multiple accreditations and insurance to cover all of the work he offers. He may be slightly more expensive than his competitors, but it is absolutely money you want to pay to ensure the job is done correctly the first time, and wit. Separately from his great work ethic, and without endangering anyone or anything on the work site. More than just a arborist, Mark is now just a dear friend to me and I am so grateful to him! read more

Sunshine Landscape - One of the more dangerous trees of the 30+ they removed. I felt completely confident in the team's ability to safely manage its removal. - Landscaping Near Me - Kaneohe, Hawaii

Mark is a scam artist. Ripped me off, never finished the job. Told me to take him to court, if I wasn't happy.

Our neighbor used this company. They started work at 8am on a Sunday morning. Professionals know the noise ordinance prohibits loud work till 9am on Sundays. I would never use this company. The police came and they stopped working, about 2 minutes after the police left the workmen started their noisy saws again! The home owner told them to stop and wait till 9am. Very very unprofessional! read more

Mark and crew recently pruned a large tree on our property. The tree was overhanging our garage and every few years Mark would come up and just cut back the parts that could fall onto the building. This year we decided to have the tree properly pruned. When they were done, the tree looked spectacular and unless you saw how much went into the chipper you'd never think anything at all had been done...just the way we wanted it. Mark does fine work and we couldn't be happier with his company. read more

Sunshine Landscaping is Hawaii's only landscaping company holding a landscape contractor's license, and certification as an arborist, tree worker and landscape technician. The owner Mark has a passion for trees and plants and it shows when his jobs are completed. I know several other people who have raved about his service. Mark has given me lot's of important advise on my own yard many times.... Mahalo Mark for all you do! read more

It's one thing to show up with this large truck with your company name visible for the community to see but the quality of work says it all. SLOPPY!! What should have been cut and blown to show a clean look was also gathered and lifted and placed atop the side of the road by an employee until he was told to stop cause he didn't do the whole road. SLOPPY!!! Idon't get it...you use a riding mower with an arm to cut the side of the bank which isn't a clean cut - more like maybe 8 inches high because you have a plan...the POISON will take care of KILLING what's left. Then the rain comes and empties into a cement groove leading down into the drain into the earth leading to the water table down into the stream and into the bay. And HHFDC paid for this. Unreal. I wouldn't hire them. Forgot to mention they didn't even bother cutting over growth above the head for whatever reason, maybe it wasn't in the plan. Again, SLOPPY!! read more

Best tree service ever. Would highly recommend. He was quick to asses our trees and give a quote. He was able to work with our budget. Will use him for all future Landscape or tree removal. Arrived on time, Knew what he was talking about, professional. I am happy with work done. I do not understand those persons who gave bad reviews, opposite of my experience. I will go to this company again in future. read more

I agree with previous review that Mark Leon of Sunshine Landscape is a scammer. I doubt the legitimacy of other, 5 star reviews - likely posted by Mark himself. Mark had scheduled my job number of times but he could never make it, always arriving with most pathetic excuses. First off, he didn't figure out how to answer his phone (the skill that can be mastered by most primates). Besides, after he discovers how to call you back, his excuses for not showing up or rescheduling are just offensive. I don't know how dishonest person like him stays in business. But don't just take my word for it. If you are looking for someone arrogant, who will waste your time and drive you insane - look no further, Mark is your guy. Just don't expect him to pickup the phone, that would be too much to ask of someone who's trying to run a business. I can't believe I had to select one star in order to post this review - he deserves zero. read more

Mark took time in our consultation to explain the damage that a major topping off of a tree can do and a way forward to nursing a tree back to health once the damage is done. He has deep knowledge, but even more impressive though is how his true care of trees comes through as he shares with you. He and his crew did a great job on our mango tree. We were impressed with the clear communication that took place within his team to ensure each member's safety, and how Mark took time to explain his reasoning and strategy with them. We have mapped out a multi-year strategy to bring our tree back to optimal health so we'll definitely be calling him again and again. read more

I met Mark Leon and the day after he was ready to cut my tree. Price was reasonable compare to other estimation. The job was done in less than 15 minutes! Mark is a reliable professional when it comes to landscaping. His suggestions were very useful to me since I was also trying to do some work in my garden on my own His business is very busy but he ll always do his best to accomodate you. read more

Mark Leon from Sunshine Landscape came out to do an inspection of a huge banyan tree growing in the backyard (with a steep slope) of a home that we were thinking of purchasing --he did an amazing job and just saved us from what could have been a terrible fiscal nightmare had we gone through with the sale without this knowledge. The expertise he shared was absolutely priceless --I have three kids and we're not rolling in the dough --we truly could have ended up bankrupt had we not found out about the condition of the tree and what it would take to safely remove it beforehand. We will definitely use Mark again if we find another home that has trees growing near the house. Thank you Mark!!! read more

Contacted Sunshine to possibly have some work done. Mark was out of the country but called me regardless! Very impressive. Mark seems to have a lot of certification including grass expertise. He was very helpful by phone and I would consider this company for high standard work. read more

Got several estimates to have a 30+ foot tree in my front yard taken down. Sunshine Landscape gave me the best price by a wide margin. I verified credentials, licensing, and insurances without any difficulty. Mark and his team were professional, safe, and fast! Mark was on site to supervise as well as doing some of the work himself. From start to finish everything was great, no surprises. I was lucky enough to have timed it before the recent wind storms on the windward side. Two of my neighbors had trees smaller than mine come down with the winds; one taking out a cinder block wall, the other landing on their car - ouch! I will definitely be calling Sunshine Landscape again for future projects. read more
