Potstickers
Natalie L.

Ordered pork and shrimp potstickers because of their deal where we could get 10 for $10, as well as a rice wrap (fantuan). Food took a while, like 15-20 minutes, which is long considering this is meant to be an express takeout spot, but I'm assuming that they're still figuring things out since it's fairly new. I made the mistake of choosing only pickled vegetables when I customized my rice wrap - I was better off getting either the pork floss or the vegetarian version! Egg was pretty salty, but I'll still give this another shot in the future. The potstickers were delicious! The seasoning in the was just right, and the wrapper had some elasticity to it that made a pleasant chew. Would definitely get again!

I was really excited to see this extension of Sunshine HK Cafe as a kiosk stand for classic Chinese street food bites. I was even happier to see vegetarian options in every category they offer. I went twice and tried the jian bing, veggie custom rice roll called nòi mì tǔan in Mandarin. I really enjoyed the fillings which are a combination of vermicelli, carrots, jicama, lettuce and black wood ear. The rice roll had pickled mustard greens, a marinated egg, and veggie floss generally made of mushroom. It's rare to find these items be veggie friendly and I really appreciate the ingenuity. A couple of areas of improvement are that the vegan floss tasted a bit old/stale and there is a 15-20 minute wait for your order. It's definitely more of a to-go place as there's only one standing table and sidewalk bench, nowhere to really properly sit. Overall I'm really happy this place is here and will be back to try more items!

Comfortable atmosphere and pretty clean. Customer Service - 5/5 Customer service was solid. The server was attentive and warned me the baked spaghetti plate would be hot before serving it. Small details like that always make the experience feel better. Food - 4/5 4.5/5 Dish Ordered: Baked Spaghetti One of the classics at a Hong Kong Café. Honestly tasted like childhood. The sauce was delicious, rich, and comforting without being overwhelming. Everything was cooked just right and came out piping hot. Hit or Miss: Hit. Definitely something I would come back for again. 3/5 Drink Ordered: Hong Kong Style Milk Tea It was okay. Nothing bad about it, but nothing super memorable either. Pretty standard flavor overall. Hit or Miss: Slight Hit. Would drink it again if I was already there, but not something I'd specifically crave. Additional Comment: Overall, pretty solid experience. Nothing was mind blowing, but everything was done well. The baked spaghetti was definitely the highlight for me and the service helped make the meal enjoyable. I'd come back mainly for the spaghetti and a comfortable casual meal.

Mainly for our toddler. Pickled mustard greens with pork noodles - you can select your noodles. This was basic but decent. Not as good as those you get a Taiwanese cafe. Baked Shrimp over rice with portuguese sauce - Tasted like curry to me. I rarely get the baked dishes because they tend to be a bit on the heavier side. My husband and in-laws like this. Upgraded this with soup and garlic bread - the soup had a sour aftertaste - I think this is from a can. The garlic bread was good! Chicken Katus w/ rice - Surprisingly good. My toddler loved it. Their milk tea was perfection (we had dim sum yesterday and the milk tea was watered down) Heavy on the MSG - I passed out. One unisex large and surprisingly nice bathroom. I would still come back.

When craving for Chinese food; either ordering take out or dining-in, we always go to Yan's Garden…read more We have tried most of the Chinese restaurants in San Carlos, but Yan's is our clear favorite. Food is delicious and flavors are comparable to the popular Chinese restaurants in San Francisco. Dining-in service is always friendly and very attentive. This is a very good place to entertain family and friends. My favorites are Sizzling Braised Tofu, Dry Pot Fish Fillet, Dry Pot Chicken, Sliced Tender Pork Chop with Salt & Pepper, Hong Kong Style Pan Fried Noodles, Braised Dry Green Beans, and Chinese Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. There are so many other good food options that it is impossible to order in one meal. We'll keep coming back!

Yan's brings me back to those days. We've been eating here more often over the past few years, and we have our regular dishes: chicken and corn soup, pork chops with Peking sauce, green beans, potstickers, and of course mu shu pork. Not sure who came up with the idea of a tortilla with hoisin sauce wrapped around cabbage, pork, and wood ear, but somehow it works. We usually have leftovers since the portions are quite large. There's other interesting stuff on the menu too (especially the Szechuan dishes) but most of the time we don't have enough room to order them. They also do drinks, and I like the lychee slushee. The staff is super friendly. Happy to have this place within a few blocks of home for some Chinese comfort food.

I had a very nice early dinner at "King Chuan Restaurant" in San Carlos…read more I was there at around 4:30pm, on a sunny Tuesday. I got a tip from another Yelper that the food is good here. My server/waiter was an older gentleman. He offered me a table by the window. The table setting was very thoughtful. They offer chopsticks, but there's also a fork and knife wrapped in a red cloth napkin. They gave me ice water, but I also asked for hot tea. King Chuan has a detailed menu, with several dishes having a brief description. I ordered Wor Won Ton Soup. I asked for dark meat chicken only. They said "no problem." The Wor Won Ton Soup was very good. The soup had napa cabbage, carrots and broccoli. The chicken was tender and easy to eat. It also had pieces of beef and a few shrimp. The broth was light, and not salty. I also ordered the "Hot Dragon Chicken Wings." With a name like that, I expected very spicy wings. The wings were not spicy at all. In fact, I had to add salt to bring the flavor out. I was puzzled as to why these fried chicken wings have a mild flavor if they're served with spicy seasonings. I guess I was expecting something else. Overall, a nice experience. I would come back. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Street parking Also, Toot Sweet frozen yogurt is a few doors away.

One of the best I've had in the bay area. I'll definitely be back on my next trip.

Or really any quality takeout of any kind. $90 order, ranging from dumplings to basic entrees to rice. Everything was off - slopped together, underseasoned, lazy vegetable chopping (and questionable) choices of vegetable ingredients. No Wok fire/heat evident in any of the entree's and everything was a gluey, flavorless mess. The noodles for the Lo Mein seemed honestly just spaghetti. The orange chicken was dry/old, almost no breading, and honestly didn't taste orangey at all. The kung pao looked like what my 7 year old could have made (when we was seven). More like boiled chicken topped with raw Safeway vegetables, whole peanuts, and a soupy cornstarch soy sauce afterthought. The kicker was they do not have any house made sauces, so if you want good mustard or something edible for dipping - welcome to shitty packet hell as they refused to provide those (if they existed). I'm curious what they do when you're in-house but if I''m paying for the same food I'm not sure why I wouldn't get something besides high-fructose corn syrup garbage stamped out in a factory two years ago. This reflects lack of care to the product and customer experience. Highly unfortunate for an establishment that used to be "decent" as I said.
