On May 4th 2019 my wife and I ordered an AlumaWood pergola from Sunshine Experts of Tucson, AZ to cover a small patio. The contract was for a total of $2700 to cover all materials and labor. We were told it would take one or two days to build and install the pergola. It is now over 6 months after our order was placed and the work has not been satisfactorily completed. The pergola roof was installed incorrectly and whenever it rained the roof leaked badly. The poorly functioning gutter and downspout flooded our patio and also poured into our neighbor's yard. We received constant excuses for why the repair work was not completed correctly including not being able to get the needed materials shipped from Phoenix. After contacting the Sunshine office in Tucson several times regarding this issue with no satisfactory responses we filed a complaint with the Southern Arizona Better Business Bureau. Six weeks later a workman showed up at our house as I was leaving for an all-day meeting and said he would correct the problems. When I returned in the evening I found the work he had done to fix the pergola of highly inferior quality. The pergola roof now looks like an old unfinished shack. This does not meet the requirements of our HOA and will have to be rebuilt to meet them. I have numerous photos and videos that clearly document this complaint. Sunshine Experts still continues to be extremely uncooperative in trying to resolve this problem. I cannot recommend this company for any work that you want to be done. read more

We had Solar Tubes installed in our kitchen, hall & bathroom with Solar Night Lights. All 3 areas are bright in the day time as well as all night without using any electricity. We're extremely pleased with our entire experience from meeting the staff at the home show to the tech that installed to the follow up, everyone has been friendly, professional, timely, caring & courteous. The technician came to look at a problem I had with my shade. He suggested I needed a new motor which he said cost about $600.00. After receiving no call from them I called them only to find out the motor costs $750.00 plus $250.00 for installation. They gave me the name of the motor. I checked elsewhere on the price of this motor and found out that it is no longer made. I feel that Sunshine totally misled me with the cost and tried to sell me an out-dated motor. Also, I asked the technician to adjust the sensor on the blinds so that they would come down a little earlier in the afternoon. His adjustment led to the blinds coming down 8:00-8:30 a.m. when there is ABSOLUTELY NO SUN ON THEM. When I called them to return to my home to re-adjust the sensor they said they would charge me another service fee. I would never recommend Sunshine Experts to anyone if they want honest people. Had a motorized shade screen installed. At first so impressed with the look and quality. One monsoon storm and this "able to withstand Florida hurricane winds" unit was ripped from our home. The metal frame and motor that were attached to our home came away from the screws and now sits in our side yard. No one will take accountability for the crappy install. I do not recommend the motorize shade from this company as they do not stand behind their product. The owner will not give his personal number or email. He has never spoken to us. We only get reps and they could care less. We paid $2800 for the original and were told the cost would be $3800 (after market products cost more). After weeks of going back and forth, we will be paying just under $2000 to get the unit back on our home. NEVER WILL USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN! read more

We originally ordered our awnings 11/14/18 with a down payment. We were holding off on the installation till we had gutters installed, which was in January of 2019. We called in February to schedule our installation. This is when we were informed we need to pay half of the full amount before the retractable awnings could even ordered. Not a problem, we paid it right then and the order was supposedly ordered. At that point, they informed us it would take at least 3 weeks to be manufactured and delivered to the store. Their NO customer service said they would call once the awnings were in. A month passed and no call. Again we started making calls to SE. The receptionist said the manager was busy and would call us back within a half hour. An hour passes, no call. We called back, again the ;manager was on the phone and would call us back. This continued for several days, till we refused to hang up. By the time we actually spoke to the manager, fumes were coming out of our ears. The excuse this time is a employee had never placed the order. We told the office manager to contact the owner, because we thought we deserved an additional discount for their inadequacy. The owner said to give us an additional 30% off. We immediately asked for this in writing. We were told we would have it by 5PM. That never appeared. Thus the district manager of the awning company came over to try and make it right. He literally call the company and put a rush on our order. We also informed him about never receiving the payment confirmation. He called SE, and the girl lied to him saying it had been sent. Funny as soon as he requested it to be resent, it was in our email. We now had a installation day set for April 24, 2019. And we would receive a call when the awnings were in and verify the installation. On April 23, we still had not heard from them so the phone calls started again. And the same response, we will call you back, and once again the calls never came. The final conclusion ended up being, yes our awnings were in and they would be here on April 24th between 8 AM and 9 AM. Well the time came and went when suddenly there is a call saying one of their installers called in sick and they would have to see if someone else could come and install it later that day. But they would call ;us back with the time. Again no call! Thus we called back, and back and back. Finally fed up with the whole situation, we FINALLY got the manager on the phone and CANCELLED the order. We then informed them they would not be keeping the 30% cancellation fee and we would come and pick up a check. The manager said oh we can send someone to deliver it to you today, and our response was ABSOUTELY NOT! We will come and pick it up, which we did. Now keep in mind, not once did the owner of the SE company ever, EVER attempt to contact us. Even after we requested it. So as far as order or purchasing retractable awnings from SE, our comment is look for a more reliable company. read more

We hired Sunshine Experts to install 3 SolarTubes in our home, laundry room, kitchen and family room. All went well and now I don't have to have the lights on all day. Installer came on time and work was completed with some mess but not more than expected. We are familiar with this product and had them in out last 2 homes, would highly recommend the product and the company to add some "Sunshine" in your life. read more

This is absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. Shane came up with an idea for screens for our patio. There were 4 screens total. 2 of the end screens came apart within about 2 weeks of install. He did come out and admit the screens were too large of an area to really work. He did install a wall of screens on both ends, but they did not work either. We continue to have to put the screens back on one end if we have any wind. The other end finally had a retractable screen installed. So far, we have been through 3 screens-one too short, one the wrong color, and the current one is too small. We have been promised by the office our screen has been ordered-it has been a year process for this part of the job and it is still not right. We were told this week that it has been turned over to Sunesta for "warranty" and they are well aware of our situation. The Sunesta rep had absolutely no information on any of this and told me their contract with Sunshine was cancelled a year ago July and that they lied to me about ever ordering the screen. Now for the customer service. They rarely return calls, promise to get things done and never do. This nightmare has been going on for nearly 2 years from when we signed the contract with them. Many of the techs told me how disorganized the office is and many of them have little idea of what they are doing. (except Mark-he is the only one that seemed to care about all the problems we have had). There was an office person-Janelle-who is the most infuriating woman I have ever dealt with. At one time I asked her if there were any customers who had been waiting over a year to get a screen installed and she said oh yes and longer and you would be surprised. I am still waiting after 2 years to get this resolved and guess it will never be done. Stay away from this company they are absolutely terrible. read more

I came in contact with this company because of a poor installation of a skylight by another company. Even thought the product installed was not theirs they sent a technician out to see the problem and suggest how to fix it. Even offered a discount on replacing the poor installation. If they are this conscientious with people that are not their customers I would bet you get excellent service when you are. The next time I need a skylight this will be the first place I go. Responsive, informed, courteous and professional what more could you want. read more

Just had Sunshine Experts install 3 motorized sun screens in our open area. We love the screens. The low rating is for the salesman and the installers. The salesman told use everything we wanted to hear, however, this information never reached the installers. In addition, the salesman measured the rails wrong and they were 4" too short. The installers did not hang the screens high enough as per our agreement with the salesman. In addition, the screens are at different heights. They should have all been equal. The installers did not put down a drop cloth and small aluminum shavings were scattered all over the patio. The screw holes that were drilled in the rails were not measured and ended up being at various heights. Very unprofessional looking! When they came out to re-install the correct length rails, I pointed out the screw holes which this time they measured. I also asked that a drop cloth be used. After the new rails were install, caps to hide the screw holes were glued in with glue running down the rails. This was never cleaned up. I pointed out that some paint was scuffed on one of the roller covers (they set them down in rocks - what would you expect to happen). I had to ask them to touch that area up. The installers were getting ready to wrap up and I asked about the open area between the rails and the bottom of the outdoor space posts. The salesman told us that they put aluminum in that area to fill in the gap. Our installers got some wood scraps from their truck and used that to fill the area. This wood was not treated and will eventual rot and attract termites. If you can get these screens from some else, do it. I'm not happy with this company. read more
