A great process from start to finish. Michael arrived and went up on the roof with me to look at the skylights we were wanting to replace. He explained the options very knowledgeably as well as noting other roof issues. He quickly figured out the cost which we agreed to and he said they had what we needed in stock and he could install the next day. He was right on time and the installation went quickly and smoothly. I have to relate my experience with Sunshine Industries (Tucson), and the exceptionally professional installation work they did for me. I had some darker areas in the home that did not have windows nearby, and saw my son had Solatube installed in his new home. I called the local dealer/installer (Sunshine Industries). The owner answered the phone and gave me a price (per Solatube), and scheduled a day for installation. The technician and General Manager, Michael Desisto arrived and was one of the most friendly, knowledgeable, and professional individuals I have ever encountered. He took his time explaining the process and made some great suggestions as to placement, etc. They took great care to tarp all areas that might be affected by cutting the ceiling and went to work. In less than 4 hours, I had THREE 14" Solatubes installed and it changed the entire "mood" of the home! The light they bring in is breathtaking, and they warrant their work for at least 5 years. They expertly sealed and flashed the opening in my tile roof, and it looks perfect. It is hard to describe how good these look, and how the natural light really improves the home. Our neighbor recommended Sunshine Industries for a "Solatube" installation and raved about his great experience with this company. We were a little surprised how much he hyped-up Sunshine Industries and thought he might be exaggerating a little bit. THEN WE MET MICHAEL, our amazing installer! Wow!! We thought the SOLATUBE was BRIGHT, but this man is literally WALKING SUNSHINE! The product is fantastic and the new natural light in our previously cave-like laundry room is absolutely amazing. When the sun sets, a solar powered night-light keeps the room lightly illuminated. While on the roof, Michael noticed a few cracked tiles that were unassociated with our job and he sealed them for us at no charge. He also showed us filter and trim options to make sure we were happy with the amount of light and fixture trim. Notice the glowing halo around the fixture? Yes, that was Michael's great suggestion. We are so pleased with the product, the installation and the great fortune of meeting Michael (voted WORLD'S BEST INSTALLER by my wife and I) we have decided to install a second unit in the master bathroom. Very respectful of our property. Made sure we understood what he was going to do and answered any concerns we may have had, he covered the floor and counters from any debris and he cleaned up after the install too! The crew led by Ron including Dora & Chuck did an amazing job. We absolutely love our new louvered shade over our sunny patio. Ron updated us every step of the way and made sure everything was perfect. Great job of cleaning up after too. Only reason not 5 stars is work was estimated to be done by mid May and due to product availability was completed 6/30. I don't like to write negative reviews. I would prefer to work things out and get my issue resolved, especially with local businesses. However, after this experience , I think you will agree this is bad review is deserved. If I was giving this rating on their solar tubes my rating would be much, much higher, however this has to do with their Solara retractable patio cover division. We purchased a home with a retractable patio cover and approximately one year later we had a problem with it not opening or closing. I contacted the representative (Shane) who came out and identified that we needed a new motor. That's where the customer service ended. Numerous calls were made and most unreturned. Finally, I spoke with the owner who told me that he would look into it and promised to take care of me. That never happened either and after numerous calls I spoke to the original representative (Shane) and in frustration told him I would drive down to Sunshine Experts shop and pick a motor up and install it myself. When I arrived, nobody in the shop knew anything about a motor for me and after contacting their Shane again, they gave me a sample of the retractable cover with a motor attached. Bringing it home thinking my issue was resolved it turned out to be the wrong motor. Now really pissed, I was able to speak to the owner again who told me that the motors were back ordered and when they came in they would be right out to replace mine. I told him that we had ordered another solar tube and he stated he would have his employee install it the same time he installed our solar tube. When the day came to install the solar tube, he did not have a motor. Several phone calls went back and forth to no avail. Finally, I called telling this long story to an office worker. The original representative who came out was in the office and she consulted him. She returned to the phone and told me that it wasn't the motor but the the arm that needed to be replaced and the cost was $700!! This was an absolute lie as the original and only inspection was that the motor was the problem and the arm never came up. Now out of nowhere it's a different issue at an exorbitant price! Not only terrible customer service but lying to the customer as well. I still have an UN-retractable patio cover from a company we trusted and thought we could count on after having five solar tubes installed. WRONG! I don't expect them to contact me to make this right so my recommendation....DO NOT BY FROM THIS COMPANY, ESPECIALLY A SOLARA RETRACTABLE PATIO COVER. A very unhappy customer read more

They were on time, very professional, very efficient and kept us informed to make sure we were all on the same page as to how it should look. They cleaned up wonderfully, which is something that many contractors do not do. We give them an A+. Also dealing with the sales office, Shantal, in particular was a pleasure to work with. our acrylic skylights had cracked from UV exposure over the years. Had Sunshine Experts come out to get quote to replace the lenses on three 2 ft by 4 ft skylights. I was told they are custom units that needed to be special ordered and fabricated at 300 dollars a piece not including labor - with labor, the final cost was to be $2 GRAND! my brother in law came over and took a look at them - he confirmed they were off-the-shelf lenses from Home Depot at a price of $47.95 a piece. with his direction, I replaced all 3 lenses with nothing but a drill and a $10 roll of caulking chord in 30 minutes. these people were going to try to upcharge me TEN times over! they are thieves and liars read more

While it pains me to write this I feel I must to hopefully prevent someone, anyone, from going through what I've been through! Sunshine Experts has always been friendly and responsive to the couple of issues I've had with their rolling screens and the solar attic fan. Well, that is, until the chips are down. Sunesta cannot repair, nor will replace a screen that has been faulty since install about 1.5yrs ago. I've contacted Sunshine Experts several times to see if they will stand behind the very expensive product they sold me. The best they will do is keep putting me back in touch with the Sunesta representative that is rude, condescending, dilly dallies on returning calls or emails, and cannot fix the screen! They will not stand behind the product they sold to you if you are having issues and no longer sell it! They told us they no longer sell Sunesta products. So, if you are considering going with Sunshine Experts, and live here in southern AZ, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take heed of this warning. Do not use them or do so accepting the fact they will play pass the buck. Now that my mother lives here I will be recommending her to Tuscon Rolling Shutters or some other company. read more

The solatubes were installed expertly and did not seem to be affected in the least by our late spring snowstorm. I had a retractable awning installed in 2016. It wasn't installed straight and had a dip in the fabric, so that when it rains, the rain doesn't run off, but pools and causes the fabric to sag. They want to charge $175 to come over and fix it, when I paid $3,000 to have in installed in the first place! The customer service is appalling. After they took all the measurements Eddie told us he would email us the prices the next day. We waited a week and when we still didn't have an email with prices I called Sunshine. I was promised an email that day which I never got. I then made 5 more calls to Sunshine for prices each time being told I would have an email that day which I never got. I wasn't going to use this company after the 3rd try of getting prices but was just seeing how long I would be told an email was on its way. Good luck using Sunshine! We weren't sure where we wanted to have it placed but based on his recommendation, we agreed on a spot we hadn't considered. It turned out to be perfect. He was cheerful, professional, and very efficient. The job was completed in a little over an hour and so far we're very pleased. I am totally bummed about this business right now but im stuck.. i ordered a 24 foot awning and a side retractible screen for my patio this order was done in November after we went to the home show. we had to get it approved through our hoa so they didnt release this to production until 12/15/19. today is 03/12/2020 and i have called every week and they keep saying its in the next shipment. seriously i dont think its been made. and its but B.S.! Now i have to wait for the manager to come back from vacation next week 03/20/2020 to call back. This awning was 6500 and we put 60% down... they are saying if we cancel they keep 35%.... I truly understand that its not summer yet but that doesnt matter its been over 12 weeks, no one calls to update because i don't think they have a clue where it is. now i have to resubmit it again to the hoa as its been over the 90 days. Yet, to my surprise the installer Leon, arrived on time was extremely knowledgeable and before I could even ask about the price we were on the roof ripping the tiles off. I knew ahead of time I would be happy with the Solar Tube in my dark hallway as I had several in a previous residence. I was a little put off initially by the cost but my go-to guy said he couldn't do it for much less. I wish I had done it 3 years ago when we moved in. It gives fantastic light (no more little night lights plugged into the wall) and Jesus, the young man who did the install, gets 5 stars also. The service with this company has been dismal to say the least. We placed an order for solar shades which cost us close to $4,000 and I scheduled an install a few months out on April 1, 2019. During the process of requesting HOA approval for the install I made contact with the office to have them send me a picture of the screen fabric so I could forward that with my request. After three phone calls, and no pictures, I conducted a Google search on my own and found the material which I I sent to the HOA and was approved for the install. On March 29, I called and the company verified install on 4/1 beginning at 0800. On 4/1 I called at 0920 to check in the arrival time and was instructed they received the wrong screens, somehow two different Hanson's were ordering at the same time. Keep in mind I was not notified of this issue on March 29. I took the entire day off from work, and scheduled other service work on my home, based on SE being there to complete the install. On 4/1 I was advised the company would contact the manufacture to request a priority rush on the new order in an effort to install the following week. I called SE on 4/4 to check on a new install date so that my wife could take a day off from work. At that time I was told I would receive a call back. After not getting a call back, I called on 4/8 in the a.m. and was told I "would receive a call back in about four hours". I called once again on 4/9, due to no response to both my 4/4 and 4/8 calls. Spoke with a female who stated screens would be in on 4/16 and set install for 4/17 at 0800. On 4/12, I called and advised that my wife was able to get off work on 4/17 to cover the install. In order to make sure things were going as planned, I decided to go to work late so that I could meet with the install team. At 0820, my wife called and was advised they would be at my home between 0930 and 1000. My wife called back again at 1015 and was told they were finishing up making our screens and they would be there now between 1130-1200. If it was not a day or two before temps reach 95, I would ditch the entire project. The Sunshine Experts mission statement states "Customer service is not only our #1 priority but is our lifeblood." If that is the case, this company is in critical condition. read more

After 3 visits over a 10 day period the work is still not completed as shown in my pics after each day of work today being the 3rd day. What an impossible company to do business with. I told them initially I was ready to purchase and needed to sign a contract immediately because I needed the work to be completed by thanksgiving for when my wife was moving in. They gave me a rough estimate of $8,000-$9,000. If they couldn't come out in the next day or 2 to do a design and firm quote, I was going to have to go elsewhere. They said they would come out on Tuesday and provide the quote on the spot. Tuesday came and no one showed up. I called them and they said I wasn't on their list of appointments but they would fit me in on Wednesday at 7AM. The guy finally showed up at 8:30 without a call. We spent about 45 minutes and he said the job was complicated and he wanted his manager to come out. He called him and he said he would be out that morning. He finally came late afternoon and we went over in detail what I needed. He said he couldn't give me the quote right away but it would be the next day, Thursday. Thursday came and went with no quote. I kept calling and got put off. They told me they would call first thing Friday and again didn't meet their commitment. I finally got the quote Friday afternoon and it was not all like we discussed. The total quote was for $13,500. The quote included 1 motorized shade for $4,666 even though that shade was supposed to be fixed - which would cost much less. A 2nd motorized shade of $1,472 was also supposed to be fixed. An additional motorized shade of $2768 was listed at 9' even though it was less than 5'. When I said, how can I make a decision when the quote is off and I don't know how many thousands high it is, he told me it is not a quote, it is a worse case scenario. When I said that was not what I was told I would get, he hung up on me. I am working with over 20 different contractors on renovations to my house, almost all from Angie's List and this is the only time I had an experience like this with and the only negative review I have written. I recommend staying away from this company as they do not honor their time commitments, don't have the knowledge or expertise to give an accurate quote and don't listen to their customers. read more

I hired this company to install two sola tubes- one in kitchen and one in laundry room. The rooms are soooo much brighter. The sub contractor who did the work was really great. Prepped the area, cleaned up after himself, did quality work from what I can see. Took his time to help me determine best placement position for maximum light. Only reason for 4 stars is that after I watched how it was done and could really see the product, the pricing seems a bit high. The product is uncomplicated and not particularly robust looking and the install process the same..so it came out to about $300 per hour, including the tube. On May 4th 2019 my wife and I ordered an AlumaWood pergola from Sunshine Experts of Tucson, AZ to cover a small patio. The contract was for a total of $2700 to cover all materials and labor. We were told it would take one or two days to build and install the pergola. It is now over 6 months after our order was placed and the work has not been satisfactorily completed. The pergola roof was installed incorrectly and whenever it rained the roof leaked badly. The poorly functioning gutter and downspout flooded our patio and also poured into our neighbor's yard. We received constant excuses for why the repair work was not completed correctly including not being able to get the needed materials shipped from Phoenix. After contacting the Sunshine office in Tucson several times regarding this issue with no satisfactory responses we filed a complaint with the Southern Arizona Better Business Bureau. Six weeks later a workman showed up at our house as I was leaving for an all-day meeting and said he would correct the problems. When I returned in the evening I found the work he had done to fix the pergola of highly inferior quality. The pergola roof now looks like an old unfinished shack. This does not meet the requirements of our HOA and will have to be rebuilt to meet them. I have numerous photos and videos that clearly document this complaint. Sunshine Experts still continues to be extremely uncooperative in trying to resolve this problem. I cannot recommend this company for any work that you want to be done. read more
