For local and quick when you can't get into George's stop on by....but don't drink the coffee!

Random stop on a rainy day on our way to FunSpot for breakfast. There were quite a few people waiting when we arrived. Wait was about 15 mins for a family of 5. The entire staff was warm and friendly. All meals arrived as ordered in a timely manner. Everything was hot and tasty. We'll return on our next trip for sure! read more

We were camping in Meredith and had been talking about trying Sunshine and Pa's for the last couple of years. We finally stopped by for a late Sunday breakfast. After a short wait, we were seated and greeted by the waitress who could have been everyone's Aunt Emma. As busy as she was, she was friendly and efficient. The coffee was good, we ordered from the Benedict section of the menu and were both delighted with our selections. We returned a few days later, and she asked if we wanted the same selections we'd made a few days earlier. We were amazed that she'd remember. Stopped in for breakfast on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very jovial and attentive. The best coffee I've ever had at a "mom & pop" diner. Our breakfast was outstanding. The scrambled eggs were okay but the pancakes were tops. My wife had eggs Lorraine and said they were the best she's ever had. We'll be heading here again next summer! read more

Love this place!! Service is great, so friendly. Not a long wait for your food and it is delicious. My only reason for 3 stars is that in 2014 I ordered their hash & eggs and it was absolutely amazing! It was fresh corned beef and potatoes, not canned! I had never had it fresh and I loved it so much I couldn't wait to go back this year. Sadly this summer it was canned.. There were a few pieces of what seemed to be fresh corned beef, but it was all canned besides that. I was extremely disappointed after looking forward to it for a year :( and they didn't bring the price down in the switch to canned either. read more

George's was out the door to the sidewalk 9:30 Sat morn so we next door to Sunshine & Pa's. Got seated quickly, friendly waitress and they had biscuits and southern gravy as a choice so that endeared me right off the bat! Too bad the food had to bring me back earth , the wife got corned beef hash, unlike George's it was canned or at least the diced potatoes were. The sausages and gravy I got was good but the biscuits were Bisquick. I got a side of home fries and chose the grilled over deep fried, get the deep fried if you want crispy, mine were burnt but still mushy. Now I know 9:45 does not catch a breakfast cook at his best time but if you can get in the door go to George's 100 yds up the road that is the best choice in Meridith. However, if you have eat at Sunshine & Pa's you will be fine if you stick to the basic's and we would do it again in a pinch. read more

This place is exactly what it should be. I have been vacationing in the Lakes region for years and every time I to Sunshine and Pa's I feel like I am returning home. The food is incredibly fairly priced especially compared to some competitors and the food is outstanding. Every year I get the warmest of Welcomes from Pat the waiter who is one of the politest and most helpful waiters I have ever had. Favorite food= Eggs Benedict!!!!!! (or Benedict Arnold) read more

Yummy. I stopped here with a friend while driving through Meredith and we were glad we did. The food was good, solid diner food. I had the grill cheese which was perfect and not too greasy like you sometimes find. My friend had another sandwich and was pleased as well. The staff was super friendly and made the whole experience enjoyable. I would recommend this place to anyone craving yummy American diner food. Friendly staff. Excellent service. Decent prices. My western omelet was absolutely amazing, though the home fries left much to be desired. Steak and eggs breakfast was also phenomenal. Was attracted to this restaurant from the quaint looking exterior. Nacho's were horrible and all stuck together. You could pick all of them up with one chip. The Tuna Melt was flavorless and had no mayonnaise - was watery, and basically inedible. The Crispy Chicken Salad was bagged lettuce, and the chicken had excess panko breading, and the chicken barely visible. However, the server was efficient and pleasant. Very good quality breakfast place. Good food, good service (Jen), and fair pricing. We had hash and eggs along with a fruit cup. Hash was very good and fruit cup fresh and tasty. My wife had cinnamon french toast with bacon. Very good and thick sliced, crispy bacon was excellent. Get a bright sunny window seat or booth and enjoy a peak of tbe lake. read more

Spent a weekend at Church Landing down the street and were looking for a place to grab some breakfast. We found it! The decor is nothing to rave about but it definitely has the Ma & Pa store feel. Service was good and food was excellent and very inexpensive. My standard 2 eggs, toast, sausage and home fries breakfast was $5.75. Can't beat that! read more

This place looks like it might be my grandma's dining room, and the food tastes like maybe she's back there cooking, too. Staying at The Mills this week and trying the various restaurants. Read about this restaurant on Yelp and thought we would give it a try. The interior is clean, yet a bit outdated. Follow the other writers advice and get a place at the window over looking the lake. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Refills and check-ins were regular. The menu is extensive and they serve breakfast all day but you have to ask for the breakfast menu after the noon hour. We ordered lunch but the table next to us had breakfast. Their plates looked delicious, waffles, eggs Benedict and omelets, and fresh fruit. We will definitely be back to try breakfast. We ordered a chicken salad sandwich and a ruben. The chicken salad was good, not great. We were told it was fresh chicken and it might have been but it arrived shredded and chopped looking like it came from a can. It was tasty but needed salt, the bread was excellent. The Ruben was the winner. Delicious, fresh and hearty. Instead of slicing the corned beef thin it arrived in two thick slices. It was a nice twist on the standard. Both plates were large portions and left no room for dessert. The only real complaint was that after ordering it took more than 30 minutes to arrive. We are here on a Wednesday and there were only one party after us. No explanation was made and it seemed odd. In fact the party I mentioned with the breakfast ate, chatted, paid and left all in the time we ordered and waited. Everyone has an off day and besides we were on vacation and in no rush. We will definitely give it a try again and recommend you do as well. read more

Great food and usually great service but not TODAY. Today, my mother took my kids there for breakfast and of course the little boys ordered pancakes. When the bill came my mom noticed that the pancakes seemed especially expensive, especially my son's chocolate chip pancakes which had $1.50 surcharge on top. When my mom pointed out that the price charged for the pancakes was way more than the price noted on the kids menu, the waitress grumpily answered "well, you didn't say they wanted the KID'S breakfasts", didn't offer to change the bill and whisked herself away from the table. I was there to pick up my kids and had the misfortune to witness this interaction. This was in my mind a ridiculous assumption and an very rude reaction to what was clearly the waitress's misjudgment. They are little boys, of course we are ordering the KIDS pancakes! I offered to talk to the manager but my mom was too embarrassed by the waitress's reaction to her inquiry. Whatever waitress was working that corner window table upstairs today needs management to talk to her about her customer service skills and that if a KID is ordering a breakfast, it is mostly like a KID breakfast that they are ordering, not the adult size. read more

What a lovely place! We were only in Meredith for a weekend but went here two mornings in a row. I ordered the same thing twice... the corn beef hash and 2 eggs over medium. Best I've had! My husband and I stopped here for lunch recently. The menu was had all the breakfast and lunch basics plus interesting additions. The prices were very good. We didn't order anything particularly challenging, but both meals were excellent. My husband got a nice big tuna salad and I got a Reuben with fries. The fries were great. The Reuben was made with home cooked corned beef and was delicious. Our food was so good that I can't wait to be back in the area to try breakfast and lunch! The service was very friendly. read more

Flies. Flies everywhere. The food was reasonable, the prices were roughly comparable to other places. But the flies are really off-putting.

I haven't been to this restaurant in a few years, and my last experience wasn't great. I decided to give them another try...I shouldn't have bothered! First of all, when we arrived, it took a really long time to get seated (and we were the only ones waiting...restaurant was not even full). After our food was delivered, two of our orders were wrong. Mine was a completely different entree than the one I ordered. The waitress took it back, and it took forever for me to get my correct order...just like the last time I was in here! Again, I had to quickly eat because my family had already finished with their meals. The portions were really small compared to what they charge...I think I had about six homefries! The food was bland...I don't know how it is possible to mess up corned beef hash, but it literally had no taste. When the check arrived, I noticed that I had been charged for the incorrect meal, which was quite a bit more than the one I actually ordered! The waitress made the corrections, but its a good think I analyze the check. Plenty of great places for breakfast in Meredith...skip this one. read more
