Great food and great service, try the Buffalo tenders! We went in January so plenty of parking available and got right in for lunch.

If I lived in the area, this is a place I would take all my visitors. My family and I stopped in here while on vacation and had a great time. I got a basic breakfast (eggs, toast, potatoes, sausage) and it was all delicious. I did notice a few flies circling around right when our food came out, but they disappeared after a minute. Everyone working here was upbeat, energetic, and kept cracking jokes with us and with each other. We sat in a booth right by the front and the kitchen, so that may have affected our experience a bit. There is another room farther from the entrance, which may offer a little more privacy if you don't want a lot of interaction with the staff. read more

Words can not describe how much my family and I enjoyed this place. We were up visiting New Hampshire from Florida for a week. 6 days out of the 7 we stayed there, we frequented this place for a late breakfast. From the first day, we were welcomed warmly with big, genuine smiles. Never have I walked into a place where each staff member seemed so proud of their place of business. They made us feel as though we had been going there for years. John was our server the first day. He was extremely friendly and personable. He knew the menu to a T and gave us good recommendations and tips on what to get. My 4 year old son wanted waffles but I didn't see it listed on the kids menu so he suggested getting the half waffle which also came with a sausage link. It was perfect in size and was my sons go to breakfast meal every day after that. The second day, we had Jenny (or Jennifer?). Another friendly staff member who gave none other than great service. She took our orders, stayed on top of refills, and didn't miss a thing for our orders. We also had Pat take care of us most of the days we visited. He was awesome and by far our favorite! He gave good recommendations and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and at home. He partook in playful banter with us which kept us entertained. One of the days, after we had already walked out of the restaurant and were headed back to the car, Pat came out to give my son bubbles which made his day instantly! It's amazing how thrilled kids become over bubbles. He definitely went above and beyond in many ways to make us want to keep coming back. No matter who we had as a server each day, the other servers still greeted us and chatted with us. It didn't matter if we weren't in their section. They didn't put a forced smile on their face just to get a tip, you could tell they are well taken care of by owners and management there. They love what they do and that kept us coming back! Okay, now let's take a small break and move onto the food. I tried both their lunch and breakfast. Their breakfast was bomb! I highly recommend their country fried steak. It came with grilled potatoes (yum!), biscuits (which had the perfect crunch to them) and sausage gravy (absolutely delicious!) and eggs cooked perfectly the way I ordered them! That was the perfect hangover breakfast. I also had eggs Benedict which was equally delicious, and a breakfast sandwich which I wasn't too thrilled about. My mom made multiple comments about the bacon and told the server they were the only place who could get the bacon as crisp as she likes. I also tried their patty melt off their lunch menu which was good but didn't wow me. Their clam chowder was really tasty without skimping on the clams or throwing in an excruciating amount of potatoes to trick you like most places. I also tried a salad one day which was extremely fresh and they gave a good amount of dressing on the side (I like a little bit of salad with my dressing). On my last day, I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on toasted sour dough (recommended by none other than Pat). It was very tasty! It wasn't swimming in mayo which was nice. We all enjoyed this place and I am sad it's so many miles away from Florida. I think I would visit New Hampshire again strictly for this restaurant. read more

DOES THE TRICK Sunshine & Pa's serves basic diner fare with New England classics you'd expect. My first impression wasn't so great as there was a visible open trash bin filled to the top with food scraps. Let's move that out of sight please. The food was fine. I had the New England clam chowder which was briny and creamy and a very satisfying lobster roll with nice chunks of meat. Onion rings were good, but skippable. I still LOVE this place- We go here on weekends for brunch, especially right after it snows. It's such a perfect place to hang out and watch the sleepy town and the plows in the snow. I almost always order the Eggs Florentine- like a benedict but with bacon/spinach/tomato. The pan fries (deep fried) are way better than the skillet fries. The biscuit and gravy are the best I've had, maybe ever. Chx fried steak is always delicious. Coffee is quick and the service rocks. We get out of there stuffed for about 15bucks before tip. This place is GREAT! In Meredith during Bike Week, I stopped into Sunshine and Pa's for lunch. The staff is friendly and cool, the food is awesome, and the prices are cheap. I joked with the waitress that they should make a bike week menu: Same menu but with higher prices... she wasn't going for it! I talked at length with my waitress and one of the cooks, and they love us bikers. The extra business we bring is greatly appreciated. I have eaten breakfast here in the past (every time it was great) but this was my first time for lunch. I had a bacon cheeseburger on sourdough bread, and it was phenomenal. Now the food was fantastic and based on all the reviews that goes without saying. What compells me to comment is the truly outstanding service we received from our Waitresses Kim Blakney. I was amazed by her steady composure when the place was chaotic with the number of people waiting to be served. She attended to every customer with ease. The food here is quite good, the location is central, the view of the lake is lovely, and the prices are reasonable -- all of those are perfectly decent reasons to pop in for breakfast. But the staff at Sunshine & Pa's is what sets it apart. In particular, our waiter Patrick went above and beyond in making us feel welcome with two young children who are still learning their table manners. We happened upon sunshine and Pas and decided to give it a try. It's a little mom and pop place with a home style atmosphere. The menu was simple but had plenty of great options. The hubby had the monte Christo and I had the Irish Benedict. Both were great! Our server was very nice and did a great job. He even brought us to go coffees when we were done with our meal. First of all I had a poor experience, but maybe they were just having a bad day so please do not be afraid to try it. Here was my experience: I was not very satisfied with the food. The toast was cold and soggy from being soaked in butter and the pancakes were not good at all. looked a little undercooked and really just did not taste that great. Service wasnt great. Although the girl waitress seemed to be on top of things, I was just wasn't in her section. She actually had to find my waiter so I could pay. We were very disappointed in our experience. It was busy and I expected a little wait but this was a very small restaurant and harder to social distance. The seats are not 6 feet apart and there was two tables in the middle of the restaurant put together. They took us right in and sat us in the middle of everyone at this table and sat people at the same table as us during a pandemic in a time when numbers are going up and a lot of visitors from different states come in because of the area. We sat down, they seemed overwhelmed and took our drink order. I got coffee and she left it with no silverware or sugar or cream. She took off so fast I never had time to catch her attention. More people came in and they were just sitting everyone right next to each other (almost touching the people next to them). Ketchup and salt and pepper shakers were left to share between touching tables. There is no ventilation in this place and while I feel very bad for small businesses, please at least act like you care about the health of your customers and see if your customers are okay coming into a clearly normally run restaurant in the middle of a pandemic. It hit us what was clearly unsafe behavior and we decided to leave. The waitress asked why we were leaving and I told her we didn't feel comfortable. No apologies. Again, people can do what they want and should be able to make decisions on whether to take the risk or not. My upset is more that they never explained the situation or asked if we were okay being seated with other people. I mean come on, you take a mask off to eat and you sat us near some people leaving, then another group came in and you sat them with us. SMH. Never got to try the food. This is our regular place in Meredith especially for breakfast. They are so friendly we spend half the time laughing and joking with the wait staff. They offer a wide variety of breakfast items and my personal favorite is biscuits with sausage gravy. I consider myself a kind of sausage gravy connoisseur and Sunshine and Pa's is absolutely the best in the east! It's worth the trip for me (about 75 miles from home) just for breakfast with sausage gravy! I recommend this place to everyone, but be prepared to wait for a few minutes as they seem to be always busy. You will find it worth the wait. read more

Sorry to have to leave a poor review, because it's a friendly place, but it took an hour (or very close to it) to get our food. This was after waiting for a table for about 30 min when they had said 5-10 min (though I know they can't control how fast people wrap up a meal. Note that no one else was waiting at that point - it was early). Maybe it was because it was a holiday weekend, but clearly they needed more, or better, staff because it took forever to get our drinks and food ordered, for one coffee refill, and then for our food. The food was pretty good but because of the service we won't be going back time soon. We also were in the lower dining room and the sun was coming through the sun roof and was in our eyes. I live nearby & discovered this place 5 years ago. My daughter & I both think this place has the BEST breakfast for the price. We used to go nearly once a week, before she went away to college. When she comes home, she always want to have breakfast here, still:-) The fresh eggs are always good, cooked any way you like. The "Hash 'n Eggs," is reliable & delicious, and the pancakes are the best around...really fluffy! For lunch, the chili is excellent, as are the burgers, turkey burgers, soups & wraps. The staff is so funny, very sweet..and they work hard, along with the owner/chef. Of course during the summer season, when Sunshine & Pa's window-views of Lake Winnipesaukee are in high demand, this little family-style breakfast/lunch establishment can get very busy. The loud ac above our table proved to ruin the atmosphere, and caused us to speak louder over the noise. The sunroom type area we ate in was a cute and cozy room. The food tasted bland and was about average for your breakfast joint. The serving sizes were decent and filled everyone in our party. The pricing was very low and made up for the blandness of the food. The hard wooden bench was uncomfortable, and the splinter I received from the bench also was unfortunate. You can tell cleanliness is not their priority as you look closely at windows and mirrors you notice cobwebs and smudges. Also in no way handicapp accessible . overall not to shabby. read more

I can't believe the great reviews for this place. It is VERY mediocre. We came in and were treated to a nice waitress who ate her lunch while we were waiting for our food, while our food sat there for 10 minutes. Then the cookstaff came out and started talking to each other about their guns and target practice. Granted it was toward the end of the day there, but seriously... Overcooked eggs, pancakes that were rubbery. I don't write many three star or lower reviews, but the only reason we came here while passing through was Yelp. Had I seen a review like the one I am writing now, I would have at least gone someplace else. I say skip it and try somewhere else. read more

My Girlfriend and I went to spend the weekend with some old college friends from UNH. I took her sight seeing up in Meredith and much to my satisfaction we stopped at Sunshine and Pa's for breakfast. It was absolutely incredible. The food was fresh and not the out of the box stuff you find at most diners. The restaurant is a small place with a few booths and tables, and depending on the day it can be a wait, but it is well worth it. I opted for the famers breakfast style with eggs, meats, potatoes and pancakes and everything was much to my delight. Highly recommend it if you out sightseeing or seeing the lake. read more
