After a phone quote they went out and made sure that the price was right for the door size. After that they called me up, did everything over the phone, credit card and appointment time. Found these guys in Yelp! And after a horrible initial experience from a previous local gate business was happy with how easy this was. They sent out a gentlemen to give an estimate and make some measurements. Took a few weeks and the fence was in and better than I even expected. They offer a lot of cool upgrades like locking drop rods and "blinders" to fill in the gaps in the fence so you can see through it as much. Price was reasonable and i think it was money well spent on my home. Would definitely use hear guys again but this gate looks built to last. I attached some before & after pictures. read more

We recently moved to a new house and it had a big RV gate plus a side gate that were literally falling apart. In our previous home, we used another gate company (initials are AG and they are a pretty big local company) to do custom gates and doors, and unfortunately the quality was just ok and the price was a premium. We actually had to have our gates repaired several times within the first year because they just were not engineered right). I pulled out my invoice from them to compare, and asked Sunset Gates to come out for a quote. Their prices were several hundred dollars less than what we paid for our prior gates. I read all the reviews and decided to go for it. Our gates were installed a few days ago and we were thrilled. The quality is amazing - comparing to our prior gates, these are constructed better, the handles and locking mechanisms are superior, and for the RV gate, it has the double pins that go into the ground (one for each gate) plus one of the pins also accommodates a padlock in addition to the key lock on the handle. The metal is super solid and the finish is pristine. I am so happy we took a chance and would not hesitate to recommend Sunset to anyone. Also comparing to the other company, here is why I say hands down Sunset is better: Quality is far superior, time from order to delivery was 4 weeks compared to 16 weeks with our other ones, and of course the price was fantastic. My next door neighbor got a quote when we did but had not ordered yet, and she was super impressed and will be ordering hers soon. You will not regret using this company! read more

I can't speak on price as I didn't do a lot of shopping around, but also felt comfortable not doing so. I forgot the mans name that came out to do the measurements on 7/5 but he was professional and helpful. He said there was a lead time of 1 month but he would see what he could do as I'd just had some new concrete work done and my yard was exposed as there were no gates. My gates (alley and double swing for the front) were installed this morning and I'm very happy with the outcome. This was a great experience as far as I needed a service, I paid for the service, the business did everything they said that were going to do, and went a above as they delivered much sooner than originally anticipated. read more

While they may do good work this business does not feel it is necessary to keep scheduled appointments or to call to cancel or reschedule. This company obviously does not want or need your business so you may as well look elsewhere. When I posted this I emailed Sunset Gates and told them of my disappointment in them not keeping their appointment or even calling. I had a response almost instantly from them in the form of a phone call explaining that their had been a scheduling mix up. What they did next (no need to go into details) then showed me that they made an honest mistake. I decided to give them another chance and was glad that I did. The finished gate and the widening of the wall to accompany the wider gate turned out better than I had expected it too and on top of everything else they finished it a week ahead of schedule. Everyone makes an honest mistake from time to time but when these guys do it they more than make up for it. Long overdue review. I was thrilled with my Sunset Gates experience. They came out last year and gave me an estimate for two gates. I had to wait a couple of before I could have them installed. When I called back, I was told the prices had gone by 10%. I was very disappointed and mentioned it to the person I spoke to. She asked me to let her check with the estimator. I was very happy they honored the price quoted earlier. They were very busy and there was a wait of 6 weeks to have the gates installed, which was just fine with me. What I really appreciated was the excellent communication and honesty about the time frame. What I appreciated even more was the professionalism and knowledge of the installer. He explained everything he was doing and why. I told him I was having "snake proofing" done after their work, so he made the gaps as small as possible without impeding the action of the gate. He was safe (masking and social distancing), friendly and efficient. The gates themselves as well as the hardware are high quality and look great. I would highly recommend Sunset Gates! read more

I read these reviews and sometimes I think they were written by friends or employees or family members of the company owner. I want to make it perfectly clear. I am none of those. Two of my friends had gates installed by Sunset Gates so I called them and asked for a quote. Here is just one of the differences between Sunset and some of the other gate guys. They have a flyer showing the different styles of gates they manufacture and the flyer has a firm quote for each gate. I chose an upgrade from the least expensive gate and figured it would be a bit over a thousand dollars. Nope! Shawn told me that since my gate was two feet shorter than the gate pictured it would be several hundred dollars less. Ok! I'm not going to argue! Two weeks go by and Shawn gives me a call. "Your gates are ready" Their very friendly and polite crew show up to install my two gates and repair a third. UH OH! There was a problem. One of the gates did not fit correctly. I did not have to even mention there was a problem. They took the gate back to their shop, fixed it and installed it and it works perfectly. Give them a call Shawn is probably the easiest guy to along with that I have had the pleasure of doing business with. Check out Sunset. They are licensed, bonded and they do the job right. read more

Over a year ago Sunset Gates did three specialty gates for us. Each was custom made and turned out exceptionally well adding to the beauty and value of our home.
