I was impressed and grateful for the thorough attention the assistant who took xrays and cleaned my teeth. I had several questions about my daily dental care. ***long but must read!!!!!!!********* Dr Attanay and his wife Vickie (Office Manager/Registered Dental Assistant), have truly created a center of caring, and not only for teeth. I have lived in 9 different states and have been to dentist in all of them. I have been to a few that are akin to mechanics, trying to convince me that I needed a lot of extraneous work with extremely high price tags, BUT, i have never experienced any Dental appointments like this. First off the staff worked very very hard to verify my benefits even before my first appointment. Which was refreshing because the first two offices I called they refused to do so....Then during my first appointment the dentist did the MOST thorough exam I have ever had, including palpating (lightly touching to feel for abnormalities), my face, my upper and lower jaw. Then instead of just callously going into all of things that needed to be fixed he started to ask me about my life to get a feel for my individual situation. Then he gently told me about what he found. All in all I need about 30-40 grand worth of work. (This is not a price gouge I have been told this previously by two other dentists) But he explained how we could accomplish this, even by referring me to other providers such as UCLA dental school to help me get the care done at a fraction of the cost. He and his wife Vickie did a wonderful job of going through possible ways to get the most urgently needed work done affordably. They explained my insurance benefits and my dental discount plan in a very understandable way. Vickie also worked up a price estimate on the next two teeth that needed to fixed after the first most immediate one so I could plan on how much money to save up. I have had to come in twice now for emergency care and they got me in either the day I called or the next day. The dentist was able to perform a root canal and extraction in just abt an hour's time. They ALWAYS do what they can to keep the cost at a minimum. One last thing needs to be said, when they asked abt my life I told them about my special needs son, Dr Attanay got me to see that I need to put my needs first sometimes because just like being on an airplane you have to put on your oxygen mask before helping others with theirs because if you don't you may not even make long enough to help the other person put their mask on completely. So he and his wife also gave the number of two of his friends that have a lot of experience in the same special needs as my sons to help me navigate the system. All in all, I found this place by looking up providers on my dental insurance and found this incredible place. These people are amazing. They do amazing work and they take care of the whole person. I very highly recommend Sunset Dental. You can trust them with all of your needs and know that they are truly looking out for best interests and will not price gouge like a majority of dentists do. read more

I'm not a fan of dentist due to most worse experience with a Childrens dentist. When I came to my appointment I felt welcomed , I knew It was time for extractions / dentures . I knew I wanted the procedure done and be sedated. I am pretty new to Ventura and was putting off finding a dentist because, well, who likes going to the dentist, right? Then I found Dr. Atanay and his team. Elizabeth and Vanessa are both so upbeat, warm, friendly and accommodating. If you are nervous about dental visits, they will put you at ease immediately. My first visit was a root canal and it was almost painless. I was able to go back to work afterwards and continue working for the rest of the day.
