We had a booking for 2 people for a social sauna, and both woke up ill the day of. Not wanting to spread any illness, we called and attempted to reschedule to another time. David notified us of the no rescheduling policy within 7 days (insane), and advised us to give our time slots to any friends that might want them. I understand needing to enforce a strict cancelation policy in order to keep a business functional, but including reschedules in that policy is a little wild. Von Sauna has now taken $88 dollars out of our pockets in return for providing no service.

I recommend coming dressed with your swimsuit on underneath as there is a tiny locker space before you enter the sauna, but it is not private otherwise you can utilize the public restrooms nearby. Our host did a great job of explaining best practices for utilizing both the sauna and taking a cold plunge into Lake Washington. Water stations are available, but you should bring your own reusable water bottle. I noticed other groups had also brought some hydrating snacks that they were munching on in between the hot and the cold. The sauna and the lake were approximately 190°F and 45°F, respectively. We booked a social session so we were in a sauna room with a bunch of other people. When you enter the sauna, you need to bring your own towel to sit on. There are essential oils that you can use and water to create more steam on the rocks. Our host came in periodically to re-fuel the fire with fresh wood. In the sauna, there is a sand timer that lasts 15 minutes. Then you do the cold part and jump into Lake Washington. It's absolutely freezing cold! You can either go down the metal ladder to ease yourself in or jump off the dock. Most people immediately get back out, but you can stay in there for a couple of minutes. Because you have to utilize steps and a dock ladder (at least to climb back up and exit the water) I would say this experience requires an abled-body. We had an excellent time getting to know the other people in our session and bonded over the ridiculous temperature extremes. I would absolutely recommend this experience and would love to return again.

The infrared saunas here are hot but a nice way to relax and detox!…read more I received a gift card to try this place out from an acquaintance, so decided to swing by. We booked an infrared sauna session (sweat with a friend) for the evening. This location is tucked away in a small strip mall and once you arrive, you are greeted, sign a form, and remove your shoes before entering the main area. The sauna space was nicely organized. There are sauna booths that are separated and have a little bit of space diretly in front of the sauna entrance covered by a curtain that allows you to undress and store your belongings. In our space, we had a timer, a call button for the front desk, a mini fridge with cold hand towels, a sign with all the different color options for the chromotherapy, and a small bench/basket for your belongings. As someone who does not regularly go to saunas, I had to take several breaks throughout the 45-minute session, but it definitely did its job and had me sweating! We enjoyed being able to adjust the colors for the chromotherapy as well. After our session, we were able to rinse off in the shower, and there is a sand room in the back where they set up some non-caffeinated tea for you to decompress. I enjoyed this part because the sand was so smooth and soft, and they do their best to create a calm ambience in the room even if you are just looking at a mural of the ocean. Some downsides for me personally: I felt the space was a bit small and cramped. Each sauna and other offered services are in small box-like rooms that aren't full rooms (the walls do not reach the ceiling). There was only one shower room, and the sand room was a bit tight (only 4 seats). I'd be curious to see if the other locations have a similar or different layout. Additionally, because the walls of the rooms do not reach the ceiling, nothing is soundproof. You can still hear some noise from other folks while in your sauna and are encouraged to keep noise to a minimum to maintain a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Lastly, I believe there is supposed to be a way to connect a bluetooth device in your sauna as advertised on the website, but we couldn't really figure out and weren't sure if it was a good idea to bring any devices in as it was super hot. That said, it wasn't something we absolutely needed so we just decided to hop in and enjoy the sweat. We enjoyed our infrared sauna and would recommend it if it is something you are looking to do regularly. It looked like they had several different membership options that give you access to different services each month.

Massage Therapist (Araceli): 5 Stars…read more Facility: 4 Stars First time at Yuan spa. Booked a deep tissue massage. Because I didn't book a hydrotherapy session, no robe, slippers, or locker is offered. I may consider booking hydrotherapy, in order to use their whirlpools and sauna, but I'd be more inclined to do so if they had a women's only area (for my own personal comfort). Check-in: I checked in at the front desk and the person had me follow her into the women's locker room. She pointed me in the direction of the door to walk through to wait for my service, which felt a little impersonal as a first time guest. Waiting Area: The waiting area was co-ed and connected to the men's and women's locker room. There were only a few guests in the waiting area so it was fairly quiet. There was a large dispenser to pour myself a cup of lychee black tea. There was also three container where I could scoop some snacks into a little paper cup (banana chips, wasabi peas, sesame sticks). The wasabi peas were VERY hard. To call guests back for their service, staff would open a door to the waiting area and call out the guest's first name. The experience reminded me more of a doctor's office than of a spa. Massage: AMAZING! I can't remember the last time my body has felt so limber and I would definitely book with Araceli again.

He likes a much more intense massage where I prefer a relaxing massage and the hot stones that he added on were absolutely fabulous. My provider said to me afterwards "wow your body really liked those hot stones". I should've asked her what she meant by that, however, I knew it was true and smiled and nodded in acknowledgment. We then moved into the hydrotherapy area for an hour. The locker rooms and I can only speak for the women's side are clean and roomie, there's a dressing area if you're a little more modest. There are restrooms showers wonderful products in the showers a long counter area with stools where you can blow dry your hair. There's snacks and healthy waters available in the reflection area before you enter your massage or hydrotherapy session. It was our third visit together and I'm sure we'll be back again.

She walked side by side the whole time while she directed me to the restroom all the while touching my arm regularly. I've never met her so a little space would be nice. I thought the signature facial would be the same no matter who did it but alas Chau's version was not what I'm used to. There was no steaming, and a lot more face and décolleté massage. I'm used to facials where there was product after product applied. This was definitely heavy on just the massage part. There was no introduction to the products used or what to expect either. At one point a stinging, smelly fermented product was applied that made my nose and eyes sting. A warning would be appreciated or even an option to omit since the product smelled rancid like old yeast. She was also pretty hasty with application of product and I think some product got into my eye as my eyes were irritated afterwards. The massage was also pretty strong (so not as relaxing) and she used a device to apply product that felt like it had a sharp edge that had me tense the whole time that she'd nick something. Usually after a facial at Yuan my face is feeling light but I didn't have the same lightness this time. Even when I was walking out her hand was on my arm touching me. If you're going for a facial I would not recommend Chau.

This is NOT a "hang out all day at the spa" spa. You have 45min prior to your service to enjoy the…read more"amenities" (aka a pool, pictured, and a small sauna that we didn't use). This is clearly stated on their website but my bestie who booked it didn't realize when she booked it for us, so this is your warning now! The pool was outdoors and it gives a perfect PNW vibe, and it's heated so it relaxes you prior to your treatment. You can hear people walking past the entire time, though, and also the window that is by reception looks out at the pool so people constantly walk by and stare. My treatment (a Swedish massage that turned into more of a sports recovery massage) was great but I mentioned being sore from a workout and my therapist took that as "she wants a rough massage", so it wasn't particularly relaxing. I did provide feedback here and there but mostly succumbed to it, and quite frankly it was probably what my body needed. The massage was good. But the real kicker is the lack of room anywhere. It feels like everybody is on top of you because there's no room to maneuver about. For example, the bathroom in the locker room contains one shower, and then the locker room has an additional shower. So if one is used, you can't go to the bathroom, or if the other is used, it kinda feels like you have no privacy. (I used the one in the locker room cuz I figured someone may need to use the toilet so I'd keep that open, but then there were no hooks inside the shower so it reinforced that lack of privacy--I'd have to use the ones outside the door.) Speaking of the locker room, the place to get ready after your treatment was right by the door in the locker room so it felt like you were in the way as people would come in and out. I specifically asked my massage therapist to not touch my hair so I wouldn't have to wash it so I could more easily get ready when I was leaving. This is only a problem who intended for it to be a day spa, but if you have a room nearby you can just go get ready there. All of these are minor inconveniences but stacked, this just makes this spa not for me. I won't be returning.

Service: Friendly staff and accommodating. Very welcoming environment. The massage experience was fantastic and I felt like a limp noodle when I left. There are lockers where you can set your own electronic pin on and place your things inside. Showers are right next to the lockers. You will be given a bathrobe and a pair of slippers to borrow during your visit. Complimentary water in the waiting room. I definitely recommend soaking in the outdoor hot tub before your treatment, though I was not a fan of the ants.
