This review is specifically about the massage services. The therapist I went to for a decade moved out of the area and recommended Maureen. If you are looking for a fancy "bells and whistles" kind of place, this is not it. This is in a non-descript outdated office building. If you are looking for someone that can do actual "work" on you instead of just a pat down, this is your place. Maureen is seriously a miracle worker. She knows exactly what she is doing and what muscle groups to target to ease whatever pain you are having. She is also a sweet and interesting person who puts positivity out into the world. I saw Bj Erkan for a massage to address some recent and old injuries that have continued to cause pain in my neck, shoulders, and arms. I'm a licensed mental health therapist and understand how trauma gets trapped in the body - I also believe that nervous system support is a huge aspect of healing. Because BJ offers a softer touch modality that aims to support the nervous system, that's what made me interested. Made appt online and noticed there was nowhere to indicate what type of massage I want - I specifically was wanting lymphatic. Called in and spoke with patty who was not very friendly or helpful - I asked if I need to indicate which type of massage I want since online it doesn't specify. She said no and only needed to know billing info (self pay or insurance). When I showed up for my massage I was disappointed to find out that there is only 1 therapist that does lymphatic and she didn't work that day. Ended up paying $140 for an average massage and not what I wanted. Rebooked for lymphatic for Saturday so hoping it goes well. Disappointing experience overall read more

Bothell Integrated Health is where you need to go if you are searching for massage therapists who are educated and knowledgeable in healing your body. It is not where to go if you are looking for cookie cutter, fluffy, formulaic massages. You may have to try different therapists to find one that you click with the best but they will all work with you to find an individual treatment for your needs. The office is very clean and welcoming and the staff are all wonderful and scheduling is easy either on the phone or their website. read more

I was referred to BJ by my dentist for TMJ (jaw pain and popping while eating, yawning, laughing) which had been progressively worsening over the course of a year becoming a daily nuisance. It has been three days since my 1 hour myofacial massage session and the pain has reduced significantly! I'm able to eat more comfortably (full chewing) with a greater range of motion in my jaw overall. Some things to expect: * Their therapeutic approach is holistic. I appreciated that the session started with neck/shoulder muscles leading up to the jaw as a way for me to familiarize with the pressure application techniques *before* starting to work on the problem area. * The environment is a relaxing space to work together with the therapist toward addressing source of your discomfort. Good communication throughout had me comfortable with him working on the painful joint. * For TMJ, your therapist will apply nitrile gloves to apply pressure from inside your mouth onto the jaw joint. * Office staff is responsive/friendly and will set up SMS/email based appointment reminders. I appreciate the work that BJ and his team does based on the outcome so far, and am hopeful that follow-up sessions will further improve the condition. Best of luck to anyone else dealing with TMJ pain - it's worth it to take the time to seek out a solution to manage the pain and all the background stress it can cause. read more

Update: So far, I have had a great experience here. Val and Jacob had very different styles but both knew what they are doing and I felt great pain relief in my lower back! Had a session with Yumi, who is a lovely human being. She focused a great deal on my legs, which I didn't even realize how much tension they were holding until she put her hands on me. Came here very skeptical that it would work but was willing to give massage a try. PT wasn't helping the issue I was dealing with. I saw Lisa. She asked a ton of questions to see if she could find the root cause of my issue. Once she was comfortable with where to start she had me get on the table. This was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I got relief that very day. It took 4 weeks to make all the pain go away. I go back monthly just to keep my body healthy. The staff here is all about getting people healthy. For some it's a long journey but if you stick with it you will be amazed at the results. After seeing my experience my wife started going and she to has had a great deal of pain relief as well. read more

UPDATE: In response to Patty's response: - She didn't simply asked questions -- you blatantly talked down to me (see past reviews by searching 'Patty', there's more bad reviews than any good. - I was never explained that prescriptions would expire nor was I even aware I had a prescription in the first place. - She did ask for another prescription but I asked her if I could simply do it through my claim and I never got a straight answer. - I didn't stop listening, she never gave me clarity nor did you give me any explanation of what I was asking for, she was very argumentative -- of course I'm not going to keep talking to someone that's so obviously angry when you ask them questions (and literally from the very beginning). - She left out the fast that I left before she even offered a massage, besides that, she kept rejecting me when I asked if I could still have a massage. My husband was the one that called and asked what was going on and he asked them if this was legally ok and she instantly backpedalled then gave in and said I could be seen. This was after 30 minutes or so going back and forth with her. - Of course I was upset, but this definitely wasn't just me having a rough time in my life, as you can read in many reviews, Patty has a very toxic behavior with people and sounds like she can flip on a dime. Besides, when you're going in for massage from a car accident (or any accident) wouldn't you want someone to not add to your stress, isn't that one of the main factors for someone feel alright going into a massage clinic? - She says she's never had such a sever response -- someone else admitted calling you straight up a B, for instance from James Robinson "Patty in the office is a horrible, overbearing and argumentative shrew that kept talking over me. I was so hot I called her the "B" word - I have no intention of ever going here again and do not recommend it" I'm pretty sure this wasn't the worst for you in your eyes. - This post was clearly made to save face and MANIPULATE everyone which I'm sure she has done for many years instead of taking accountability with blatent attitude issues. Unfortunately for her, I'm not the only one and it's been so severe that we've gone out of our way to warn everyone. Bothell Integrated Health is a hidden treasure of a massage clinic that I can't recommend enough. I've been going to BIH for almost two years, and I have NEVER had a bad massage here. Never. Some background on me, I've been getting professional massage therapy since my early 20s (I'm in my early 40s now), and I went to Lauterstein Massage Therapy school in Austin, TX in my 30s. I ran a successful part-time massage therapy business for three years and did spa-style massage for a bed and breakfast in the Texas Hill Country. I *know* good massage when I feel it. My favorite therapist is Allene; however, I have also received stellar massage work from Theresa, B.J., and Mike. My partner has received excellent care from Val and Chris. All of them have impressive clinical massage techniques and demonstrate high-quality presence and care during therapy sessions. The price point for an out of pocket massage is very reasonable and, in my opinion, a steal for the quality of therapy they offer. They take some insurance plans, so it is definitely worth your while to see if your plan covers massage therapy. The clinic is taking all necessary COVID precautions. As a current nursing student at UW, I deeply appreciate their commitment to keeping me and all other clients safe. I had my first visit today, after having a car accident last week. They were very good and went over everything! They took the time to talk with me and check things out before starting with the massage. They checked in with me as we went along to make sure I was doing fine and not too uncomfortable. I've been coming here since April 2018 and constantly look forward to my next massage appointments. My two colleagues also come here for massage and absolutely love the service provided as well. I've only seen Chris and Jacob so far and both of them have done amazing work on my neck and back. I tend to have a lot of neck pain due to a lot of desk work and sometimes due to bad sleeping postures. Not only are Chris and Jacob superb in their massage techniques, but they have such down to earth and awesome personalities, which makes the appointments much more special! Best massages ever! It's not just a massage with B.J. though. It is so much more therapeutic and helpful than any other place I have been to. I have a bad back and both hips are bad. He has helped me walk better and maintain a 9-hour day desk job with minimal pain. B.J. has used ice massage a few times and has literally got swelling down to almost nothing after an hour deep tissue massage. It's amazing the work he does. The bed is always so comfy and warm, it takes some effort not to fall asleep. This is the most relaxing place to go when you have had a long day at work and need those muscles worked out. I don't want to ever stop going here, even if my insurance runs out. The people are so helpful and friendly! His wife, Patty, has always been kind to me as well as the other receptionists. If you are looking for a consistent, reliable place for treatment, based on my experience and comparison with other places, personally I would not recommend this place. Pros : Two stars are for Chris and Faye, as their massage techniques worked well with my auto accident injuries. Cons : 1. I remember that one of the massage table face cradle is not working properly poking at my cheek. 2. Same day cancellation causing my whiplash injury worst. After the accident (9/22/16) I needed constant treatment 2-3 days a week. Same day cancellation is not always work with my other schedule and treatment plan. Patty the Female Owner did not accept my suggestion well, in fact she was quick to blame Faye who did not show up. I understand that sickness can't be avoided but blaming your employee instead of an apology did not look professional especially coming from an owner/manager level and maybe the no show is a sign of mismanagement causing low employee motivation. read more

Have been going to this place since mid-April and love it! Each massage therapist is different but they are all attentive to what is hurting, feeling sore, etc. As long as you communicate what you need m to the therapist, you will receive a great massage every time. I love Bothell Integrated Health. I have been a client for over 3 years, going in for massages once every week for two months or sporadically over a course of a few months. I was originally referred to BIH by a friend and a co-worker. My first massage therapist was Darcy. She was amazing. I know I received a deep tissue massage from B.J. somewhere in between seeing Darcy, while she was out. After not being back for a little over a year, I went back in and discovered that Darcy had retired. That is when I met B.J. B.J. was my massage therapist for over 5 months and I have to say that he has been the best therapist I have ever experienced. When I asked for deep tissue, he didn't play around with the pressure; amazing! He was always very professional, knowledgeable, and I found it very easy to request any adjustments or changes to the style of massage that I needed. I am not sure why the Jim R. has provided a negative feedback for this establishment, it just doesn't make any sense. Patty at the front desk has always been very courteous and accommodating, so I am shocked to read a negative review. It sounds to me like someone is a Debbie-Downer. read more

My back was really on the verge of going out so I took a chance on a new clinic since they were the only ones who could get me in quickly. I've had hundreds of massages and I'm very picky. But I was lucky enough to see Jacob Pratt and he was amazing... One of the top massage therapists I've ever seen! Unfortunately he was not on my insurance, but he was worth every penny. I first came to Bothel Integrated Health after a motorcycle crash/neck injury in 2000. I was prejudiced against massage...typical Alpha Male, "I don't need a crystal rubbed on my forehead or chakras aligned!" stuff. I was converted after the first visit. The relief from pain was effective after the first session and my range of motion returned by leaps and bounds. I've been back regularly ever since for various athletic and work related injuries. BJ even cured some tendonitis in my elbows that I had just thought I had to live with as I got older. He didn't decrease the pain...it is 100% GONE! These guys know their stuff and work hard to ensure that you get the treatment that your body needs. Over a year later, this clinic continues to deliver. Now that my treatments are no longer covered by the car accident insurance, I still make a point of coming out for a tune up whenever possible. The staff is still very friendly, the cash rate is $75/hour, which is totally reasonable, and overall I've just never experienced such lasting relief from pain. I sleep better afterwards. read more

Allene is fantastic! She does deep tissue and trigger point massage and really unlocks the knots and relaxes my muscles.

It's hard to say enough good things about this place. They are professional and the bench is deep. Every therapist I had is well knowledged and great at what they do. I've seen around 8 of their therapists now and none of them disappointed me. They were all responsive to my needs and were able to relieve chronic pain better than any drug. If only I could do it every day. A few of the therapists are booked out pretty heavily, so don't shy away from the new talent that may be easier to book. BJ(the owner and a therapist) appearantly has some sort of gift finding caring, knowledged and effective therapists. I've actually settled in with a therapist that has only been out of school for a year. She does almost, if not as good a job as my other favorites who get booked out months or weeks ahead. I'd recommend trying many of them out so you know who you like when inevitably you need to get in on a crunch. The other reason to do this are the varying styles and techniques the therapist utilize and how your body interacts with them. I split my time as a stay at home dad and catastrophe claims adjuster. I've had fusion related chronic back and neck pain, three surgeries on my elbow , and one on each knee. Even without these issues, both my jobs stress me out and tense my muscles up in their own wonderful ways that would lead me to use massage therapist for relief. Wish you well. read more
