A Year of Silence, Excuses, and No Accountability I've been a Sunrun customer for years, and I can honestly say my experience has gone from frustrating to unacceptable. The original solar install was fine, but repairs have always taken far too long. My biggest issue, however, is with the battery (Powerwall) project I contracted with Sunrun well over a year ago. Everything seemed smooth at first -- until the process moved into the permitting and submission stage. For months, every update I received was the same: "LADWP is holding up the project." When I finally contacted LADWP myself, I learned that they had actually sent Sunrun specific notes back on September 26, 2025 -- and Sunrun never responded. That's not a city delay. That's Sunrun failing to do their job. My assigned contact, Jordan Hancock, has not returned a single text or call in months. I'm now told to contact "customer service," but they refuse to connect me with anyone who can actually help. Every time I'm told, "Someone will call you back." No one ever does. So here I am: * Over a year since signing my contract * No installation * No meaningful updates * No accountability * And no way to reach anyone who is responsible As someone who lives in an area that loses power frequently, this isn't just inconvenient -- it's unacceptable. I'm extremely disappointed in Sunrun as a company and in how they've handled this project. Customers deserve transparency, communication, and follow-through -- and I've received none of that. Until Sunrun proves they can stand behind their commitments, I cannot recommend them. read more

Awful customer service. Wow. So my mom signed a ppa lease back in 2018 and she just passed away last year. My understanding was that the solar ppa gets attached to the house so whoever inherited the house its part of it... so thru my research the system didnt perform for over a whole year. In their contract it states that they guarantee monitoring and production. I initiated to convo letting them know id still like to work with them and that my mom passed away with a 5k electric bill and their system wasnt performing. They offered I believe to be a way over priced buyout and then just shut off the solar w no notice and when I questioned why it wasnt working they claimed because they dont "bill dead people". Wow! Thanks.. I would not recommend this company and really question their ethics and business practices. read more

I recently completed the installation of a 33 panel, with 3 Tesla Powerwall solar system with Sunrun. Pearl Wu, the Field Sales Consultant, is an amazing sales person, being very friendly and responsible. She explained the entire process clearly and communication was responsive throughout the whole process. And I am also fortunate to have the installation done by a professional team under the leadership of Jonathan. The Sunrun team did a great job walking us through the process for installation and approval, but in particular my contact Craig Peterson who got us onboard and moving forward was incredible. He was always available and responsive, willing to stop by and review whenever needed... after two failed attempts exploring solar I was glad to have Craig knock on my door and get us over the finish line. SunRun does not deliver as promised. Customer service department is difficult to deal with and it is an arduous task to request a simple visit our home to have them check our panels. Our electric bill has remained the same as before the panels were installed. read more

If I could give Sunrun negative stars I would. Worst company ever. Took them 10 months after we had it inspected to get it up and running. During that time we were paying for the equipment. We are on our second inverter after 3 years. They won't even come out and check the equipment without a service fee. Customer service lacking beyond measure. So frustrated. Run far far away from this company. They are hard at selling and non existent at follow through. read more

From the day the contract was signed, it took close to 5 months until installation was completed. Then a week later at 2 am complete power went out. I had to call SCE to come out and disconnect the solar so we could have power restored. It was all eventually rectified, but calling Sunrun, it's like someone is reading from a script, extremely hard to get answers. Now after 5 months of solar including a Tesla wall battery, I get charged a fee by SCE $67 for extra electricity usage for the month of September. It doesn't make sense. The battery doesn't last throughout the night powering the porch light.I guess I gotta go the hard way and start complaining. read more

In my opinion, this company, both in the Bay Area and in Los Angeles, is a bad actor in faith and practices for the advantages it tries to take of the elderly and lack of accountability. This includes bait-and-switch, misinformation, and no way of filing complaints to address these issues. Not even four years into solar and our roof/ceiling/beams are damaged from their incompetent installation job! They have admitted fault and our warranty clearly states their promise to fix it and pay for it all! But over a month later still sitting here with a soggy ceiling and ruined roof! They sent an incompetent or say shady contractor who though he'd get away with a patch job lol um NOPE then we were told we could get our own contractor, I went above and beyond taking time from my job and got three bids and still they blowing smoke! The stress is off the charts and the panels off is costing us money! Our damages are over $30k And more rain coming is more damages since they neglected to get the house tarped after panels removed. The first tarp job caused more damages and was done wrong! My life's mission is to make them accountable! I eat, sleep, breathe and defecate this situation!!!!! I will not stop nor go away til my house is back to the way it was!!!!! read more

Negative stars.... AVOID this company--they have terrible customer service. I'm renting solar panels from them, and they're supposed to provide regular maintenance. I've had the system for five years, and not once have they come out for maintenance. Now, my system has been down for two months, and instead of contacting me directly, they had their contracted company, Bright Ops, reach out. But they never informed me that someone from Bright Ops would be handling the repairs, so I thought the call was a scam. When I finally got in touch with Bright Ops and scheduled a service visit, they didn't show up. Instead, I received an automated message asking about the service on the day they were supposed to be here. I called to inform them that their technician never arrived, and they rescheduled me. Then, they called again today to say the technician for my appointment had called off, and they pushed my service date to November 8. Keep in mind, it's already been two months without a working system. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, he was completely unhelpful and even hung up on me, saying there was nothing he could do. This is unacceptable customer service, especially since I'm locked into a nine-year contract with them. Don't make the same mistake I did. Avoid this company. read more

Poor. We have a case of Sales Misrepresentation. We were told that if we have a non-zero monthly bill from our electricity utility company, then Sunrun would pay that bill for us. This hasn't happened as we were promised. Ever. It's been 4 or 5 months now of non-zero bills. We have since found out that it isn't Sunrun's policy to pay for any non-zero monthly electricity utility bill. However, that's exactly what we were promised by the Sunrun Sales folks - multiple times during our sales meetings - in our living room. Either they made that promise not knowing what Sunrun's policy is...OR...they made this promise erroneously, knowing full well that we wouldn't sign on the dotted line of the contract if that verbiage wasn't included. Of course, we failed to take a photo of the contract, but we know full well that we would never have signed the contract if that verbiage wasn't in it. We saw that verbiage with our own eyes. But - that's not "smoking gun" proof, and they're not paying those non-zero monthly bills. Still, it happened exactly as I stated here. BE WARY OF SUNRUN SALES' PROMISES!! I'd say to get it writing...but we got it in writing, else we wouldn't have signed the contract...but they're not admitting that...shame on them! read more

Sunrun has been an awful experience! My husband and I put solar panels on our house because we wanted to "do the right thing for the earth" but have been completely unsatisfied. They predicted that the 13 solar panels that were placed on our small, 1080 square foot house would produce approximately 130% of the energy needed to meet our monthly consumption, it is just the two of us and we live modestly, yet we have had an additional bill from Southern California Edison (as high as $134) EVERY month since the panels were connected. I've contacted customer service at Sunrun two times by phone and sent an email addressed to the legal department and have heard nothing in response. Don't use Sunrun!! read more

After installing batteries and panels they informed me that they were sending another team to activate the batteries but it's been 2 months since then and they never sent a team and when we call customer service the keep giving me the run around on false promises. Would not recommend to any homeowners looking for batteries or solar. read more

The quality is spotty. The service cases- which are made due to their mistakes - is never fast . Always an issue at the end of the year with Edison and ALWAYS have to get refunded.. it's a mess and annoying having to call every year - we didn't have a choice on getting this our home came with! read more

These people will sell your information beware. Where do I start with Sunrun let's see,I was approached by a very pushy sales guy as Costco about getting free solar for my home. Originally It was supposed to be only a "consultation" 5 months later they're still calling and texting me. I have reply stop to them and have spoke to several of their reps and even try blocking them (they call from various numbers)and nope they're still calling. Costco shouldn't let these guys promote inside if they can't respect customers wishes . I can only imagine them as a service provider how unprofessional they must act. read more

Mark this name down: Juliet Kailua. I was sold on day 1 with her attentiveness and professionalism. Customer service has been such a lost concept in the modern world given how "virtual" we all are. Juliet shows up with her genuine care and her willingness to go above and beyond to cater to our needs. She acts in my interest, as if her fiduciary responsibilities trump even her personal schedule. A few quick stories to show how she recognizes the importance of serving her customers and treating people with the utmost respect: 1. Southern California Edison put lots of strain on people trying to keep the NEM 2.0, so they created countless hoops to disqualify people in order to get more money out of homeowners. Juliet worked overtime and excessively hard to get my application in with such a short time. 2. To ensure that I save money in the summer, Juliet went out of the way to get me on schedule for installation. On the day of installation, my street unexpectedly closed for coal sealing. Crew would generally pack and leave in this situation as they couldn't unload their equipment. Juliet coordinated with three people at 7am to make sure that we don't need to reschedule, which would push installation back to perhaps a couple of months, essentially deeming getting solar for the summer a moot point. She showed up at the site, with food she brought to take care of the crew. 3. She stayed and talked with the installation crew to make sure everything is okay before leaving, as she needs to show up for another customer. She constantly texts me to ensure nothing falls through the cracks. I'm also in client business which is why I know how rare it is to have someone like Juliet who put her clients in the top of her priority list. Oh I shouldn't forget to mention that Juliet analyzed all plans through the lens of customers, which further validates how she acts as our fiduciary. Thought this would end, but guess what, it continues! Got another "shout out" from this aggressive person who still thinks that they are going to sell me their product. After everything is said and done I cannot believe this person still has me on a list "to call". Also, continuing to get phone calls from dozens of companies dealing with keeping my house and property cool and some repeats. They are not local, in fact many of them are from around the world making it extremely frustrating knowing how the dark web works. When I discussed this with management, they should've stepped on it right away but they didn't. I'm totally disappointed in Costco management and Costco in general for not having better support for customers who have concerns regarding companies on site. No matter how nice, or sweet anyone appears in there sitting on their stools shouting out their business, I will continue to walk by and try not to even make eye contact. Just be careful. read more
