My panels have been installed for 18 months now. I'll start with what I am really ticked off about. You should consider these things when making your decision. I signed up with the PPA Plan. 1) Installers came 2 days earlier than scheduled and gave me no prior notice. I came home from work to discover they installed the power panels on the exterior side of my house when they were intended to be in the interior of my garage. Will not move them without charging me. I signed an agreement for a system that was over-engineered with the intent of adding a pool. I no longer have the proper clearance to get equipment in my yard to dig the pool due to the electrical panel placement. 2) I now have a major pigeon problem. My roof and sides of my house are COVERED IN CRAP and broken eggs falling out of the nest for my dog to eat and become diseased. I have about 20 nests under my panels. Sunrun should be installing bird screens at the time of install. Instead, they tell you they had no way of knowing there was a "bird problem in the area". SERIOUSLY?!?! The panels are the cause of the bird problem. Now I'm told I have to pay $2,000 to have them fix a problem that should have never been a problem if Sunrun was pro-active and knew their business. This isn't something I should have to ask for during the design phase. They should know this. The (3) quotes I received; each company said birds are ALWAYS a problem with solar panels. Positives: 1) I save about $500 p/y on my electric bills. But the savings won't truly start until 4-5 years because I will have to pay $2,000 out of pocket for bird screening and clean up. read more

If I could rate them a negative number I would. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service. I had a 20 year lease with them, paid 10 years into it and sold my home. During close of escrow I paid the remaining BOAT LOAD OF MONEY to pay off the Sun Run lease, that was in April. It is now the end of June and I continue to get a monthly bill, taken out of my bank account, which I never authorized - which then screws up the rest of my bill paying/banking. All transfer documents to the new homeowner were signed by me and received by Sun Run with them emailing me confirmation of receipt. My account online shows a zero balance and in the past two months I have spoken to two agents who have confirmed this with me. They opened a case two weeks ago, and today I have ANOTHER monthly charge on my account. I continue to go round and round with these stupid people and still have gotten no where. I bought a house 2 years ago that had a solar system from sunrun. And I've regretted it everyday since. Our system has been down twice this year with it taking months for it to get repaired. It takes over a month to get a service person out here because they have to subcontract it out. And right now my system's down because the motherboard was fried from a wire and on their app it shows that it's still collecting power which it could not be because the whole system's off the breaker for the solar box is off. It's complete rip-off and scam. You can't trust their app to show you how much power you're collecting and if your system goes down they don't monitor it. Never do business with this company. They put solar on a 30 year old roof. Less than 2 years later the underlayment needed replacement. Asked for proof of condition prior to install of solar-they have none. Then the solar removal company has to be approved by them, and removal will costs thousands of dollars. Then they don't stop there, they send out another company to check the work of the solar removal company they have to approve & charge you another $513. Oh, by the way, since you replaced the underlayment, they no longer guarantee roof leakage. Never have I dealt with such a horrible company. Run run away from this company. read more

We purchased a home that was advertised solar owned. After recorded deed we were told we had to sign a "dead man's" contract (previous owner who did have solar installed). They even sent the exact contract the previous owner had signed and we were asked to sign it before reading it. I refused until I read it. They finally sent it over. These people should be put in jail for what they convinced people to sign, elderly people!!! These predators really suck. The contract showed payments increased every year for 20 years then they would have the opportunity to purchase the system. Yeah after it is obsolete! We did not sign that garbage and they still will not, after 3 years, come get their equipment off of our roof! There is an Arizona Attorney General settled case from May 2025 you may want to check out if you have done business or are thinking about doing any in the future. Ten years ago, we purchased a system with 82 panels for our home in Arizona. On July 3 of this year the panels suddenly stopped communicating with the APS meter. Our app told us we were generating nothing. Note that SunRun has no mechanism for notifying you that your system has suddenly stopped producing; you need to check the app every day or two to be sure the panels are working and connected to the meter. We caught on to the failure after about 10 days and called SunRun. We were told that a tech couldn't come out for 3 months. (Keep in mind, it's summer in AZ and the AC is running 24/7. Our bills are well into the hundreds.) When the tech finally arrived, he determined that he couldn't fix the wiring problem because APS needed to unlock the box first. (This took him about 5 minutes.). When a whole system goes out it usually requires opening the meter box. I asked if someone at SunRun would call APS to schedule a home visit. "Of course!" the tech said. Two weeks later, I called to see if APS had been scheduled or was coming. They had not even been called because there was no case manager. (I was told that if I hadn't called to ask about APS, nothing would happen. The person I spoke with said the tech forgot to write it down.) I asked if I could please have a case manager and was told someone would call me within 24 hours. After three days, I called SunRun and tracked her down. She was apologetic and said she would call APS, which she did, and they came out the following week to unlock the box (5 minutes). But we couldn't get a SunRun tech back out for another month. They finally arrived on November 4 and fixed the system in under an hour. We lost three thousand dollars of production -- for about 60 minutes worth of work that SunRun postponed, forgot to schedule, and delayed for 5 months. The tech who came understood our frustration and suggested we appeal for some compensation for the loss. However, today I was told that because we *own* our system (foolish us) any power generated by our system is ours to use or sell; and any loss is ours alone. SunRun has no incentive to quickly repair anything. Legally, according to our contract, there is no recourse and "no production guarantee." We STRONGLY ADVISE anyone considering buying a system from this company to NOT DO IT. We do recommend solar -- it's good for the planet, when it's working. But we'd suggest you choose any solar provider other than this one. read more

I was quoted $55,000 for a system for a two bedroom, two bath, 1700s.f. home. Then I went to Tesla's website and got a quote for a bit over $20,000 (before govt rebates). That's insane. One sale would likely give my sales guy 6 months income. However, what really gave me pause was the 100+ 1-star reviews here on Yelp. I'm really glad I checked. OUCH. I have to say this company is the worst for customer service as a solar company. I leased my solar in 2014 since then there is no customer service with your solar the reason I say that is they claim they monitor your system and which I don't believe they do as when the solar was installed a week later received a phone call indicating that they need to upgrade my system which I said ok from that point my solar kwh went down and stayed down. Everytime I call they tell me oh your system is running perfectly which I know it's not performing like it was on day one. Now, jumping to recently my husband went outside in our backyard and noticed that the solar was not working as the fronius panel indicated no power system error so, he told me when I called back in the beginning of January reported it and also the agent told me to take a photo of the panel and send it to them which I did. The agent said that someone would call me back about the report. I never heard a word from sunrun so, I called again explained the whole situation and then I was transferred to a case manager Jada and again explained the entire system about my solar not working and she said please send in a photo of your panel and I said I already did she said she couldn't find it so, I resent it which she then indicated she got it and yes your solar is under performing so, she indicated Jada to setup an appointment for a technician to come out the appointment would be Feb 29th from 7am to 12 noon. Well I took the day off from work to see what's going on with my solar that I am paying each month. No call no show that day at 1:30 that day Feb 20th I called sunrun and in the ivr it indicated are you calling about your appointment and I clicked yes, and went straight to the case manager Jada which I got her voicemail and left a message that no one showed up or called me please call me back. I then disconnected the call I called sunrun back immediately and spoke to a representative and he said let me transfer you to upper management which I got a young woman who after asking me various questions said that she is in another region but will teams Jada because she is in a meeting and her lead. Now, it's 3:40 Feb 20th received a call from sunrun said that he was sorry about a no call no show but, my system is performing perfectly. I then said no it is not and why did I not get a call saying the technician is not coming. He said I don't know but, will forward the message to Jada and will get a call back. Now, it is 5:30 pm and received a email from Jada indicating she was sorry but the technician was ill and that my system is performing and that they guarantee 95% efficiency on solar. In the next statement that they can send another technician out of today Feb 25th which I took the day off again from work and still waiting for the technician to come it is now 9:37 and the appointment was set from 7am to 12 noon. So I am waiting the waiting game. Stay away from sunrun bad bad bad. I will post an update. Now it is 12:11 on February 25th and I called twice to Jada the case manager and got voicemail to call me back and no call back from Jada. I just got off the phone with a customer service representative and he indicated to me that there is no service technician coming out today so, I read him the email that was sent from sunrun indicating an appointment for today Feb 25th from 7 am to 12 noon and he placed me on hold tried to contact the case manager Jada to no avail and now gave me Jada biss telephone number and name Haley H. So, I will be contacting her. Again despicable service. Update on status well received a call from Jada she was giving all the excuses possible and admitted she cancelled the appointment for today and that our solar is performing and if I want a person out I have to pay for the technician. I disconnected from Jada and put in a call to Haley her boss and awaiting a call back. Oh in the call with Jada I got disconnected and then another person came on from sales she said she couldn't help me and was transferring me over I disconnected from her and long and behold I was getting an incoming call from guess who yes, Jada saying I don't know what happened. I left an original review letting you know that SunRun failed on so many levels when it came to transferring our service to the new owner of our home. Email after email. Phone call after phone call. Went unanswered. Finally I got a fall back with the customer support person promising to get the error corrected on their end. They cashed the final check. Which was the final piece to get the transfer done. In the meantime we got another bill. Letting us k ow we are responsible even though Sunrun's failed team cannot get it together. In December 2021, Sunrun agreed to remove the annual escalator fee and lock in the rate of $131.84 in exchange for our prepayment of $4,074.98. In January 2022, my husband enrolled in Autopay using our bank account. In January 2023, Sunrun increased our rate, and my husband found out that Sunrun has been pulling monthly payments from the $4,074.98 prepayment, when they should have been pulling from our bank account. Also, Sunrun should have applied the prepayment and honored our agreement to lock in the rate and remove the annual escalator fee. Plus, they charged our account a fee for not enrolling in autopay, even though we received confirmation from Sunrun that my husband successfully enrolled in Autopay. On March 8, I called Sunrun to resolve this issue. I spoke with a Case Manager, who verified that Sunrun failed to apply the prepayment. She said she was going to call me back to resolve the problem. I did not receive a phone call or email. I sent a detailed email on March 14, clearly outlining what happened, including the dates and copies of email messages from various Sunrun Case Managers since December 2021. I waited patiently for a week. I did not receive any email or phone calls. I left voice messages for our case manager on 3/20, 3/23, 3/27. When I did not hear back from her, I called the general Customer Service line. I spoke with a representative on the morning of 3/27, who said that she would relay the message that I need a phone call by end of day. I called again at the end of day on 3/27 and spoke with another representative who said that someone will get back to me in 3 business days. No one called me. On 3/31, I called Sunrun again. The rep said that she couldn't do anything and that someone would get back to me in 3-5 business days. It is now April 1, and Customer Service put me on hold for over 30 minutes and dropped the call. I called again, had to repeat explaining our situation again, and the rep told me that no one can help me this weekend, and that our Case Manager will call me on Monday, Apr 3. In sum, they have not honored our agreement and have been completely unethical and unresponsive. They are doing whatever they wish with our money, and are not working with us to rectify their errors. read more

I installed Solar Panel from Sunrun through Costco. Sunrun lied to me to receive my contract, the majorities Solar Panels Sunrun installed did not work since they installed it, Sunrun hide information (the reason the panel they installed did not work properly). I bought large size of Solar Panel over $40,000 plus interest rate and refinance cost which I paid over $50, 000. About 10-11 of Solar Panels did not work since installation. I paid electric bill over 10,000. I tried to communicate with Sunrun customer service and they offered me only 2000 and repair the panels. Unfortunately, Sunrun customer service is trying to ignore and dismissed my request for taking full responsibility for all damages caused to me. Do not trust Sunrun and Costco. I only hired Sunrun because I trusted Costco. They are unethical companies and they are trying take advance of customers. They took my money and Sunrun caused me financial and emotional damages. I filed complaint against Sunrun and Costco with Sate Licensing Agency, State Attorney General Office, Better Business Bureau and Complain to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). If you want you solar panels installed wrong and then have APS come out and tell you you can't use them until you get the right breakers put in because the way it was installed was incorrect and then call sun run for a year straight until they finally come out and fix it and then only get reimbursed for only a couple months then you found the right solid company. Fortunately the system works well but we had great difficulty with our second home install as Sunrun continued to confuse it with our first install. Their new app has both solar systems mixed up with incorrect data whereby it shows some info for one on the other. I have gone around and around with Sunrun to resolve and they continue to ask for photo after photo. For a tech company, I would expect they would know their new app but sadly they do not seem to. I did by both via Costco and while Cotco has gotten them to engage, Sunrun still can't figure things out. Buy the Sunrun Power Purchase Plan if you would like to save $15 to $20 a month until you move to another house. When you move however, you may end up paying for someone else's electricity for the rest of your life. Don't expect any help from their transition team. My house sold in August, I advised them in June I was selling my house and gave them every bit of information they requested, (buyer, escrow, real estate salesman along with phone numbers and e-mails). After escrow closed, I called them again to advise them the new owners are in the home. They stated the new owner hadn't signed the transfer docs and that I would be responsible until they did. They even advised me to get them to sign. I was now in another state. After several phone call by me, I received an e-mail from Sunrun stating I could be in default of my agreement because we haven't finished the transition and it was now November. They took money from my account each month for the electricity produced for the new owner. Two weeks after the default threat, they sent me an e-mail stating everything was completed. They attached a copy of the transition documents. My signature in July, the Buyers signature in August (Before escrow closed) and their signature in November They had lied to me about the new owner not signing, it was Sun Run transition team that apparently lost the docs and finally realized it when they were about to take me to court. They billed me again in December but dropped that, they re-imbursed November only and would take no responsibility for their own mistakes. Do not use this company. I was originally with Vivint solar. Their phone app listed daily solar production within 24 hours. I was very impressed with their efficiency. Sunrun has purchased Vivint and now this beautiful Vivint solar production phone app does not work. So I called Sunrun customer service and asked them to please email me directions to the Sunrun phone app. They said they would. A week later I had to again call Sunrun customer care and ask them to please email me the instructions and they finally did. So their process requires that you submit your phone number to get a texted verification code to plug into the app. Ugh. Finally got into the app and there is no production information for my solar panels for 9/16, 9/17, 9/18, or 9/19. Today is 9/20. Ugh! Must call Sunrun now to find out if their information on the app typically runs 4 days behind. Ugh! And their app is very primal and an annoying box keeps popping up and I need to scroll back and forth to see the information underneath it. Sunrun could have learned a lot from Vivint's efficient technology. Will let you know after talking with Sunrun later today if 4 day lag in information is standard for Sunrun. Sunrun's customer service is horrible. And their repair time-line is even worse! I have only had the panels for less than 4 years, and it has been broken for approximately a year and a half total of that time. Last time it went down, it took them over 6 months to repair it, and it would have been longer if another potential customer hadn't canceled their installation so I could get their inverter. The company did come out to replace the inverter a couple months prior, but they replaced the wrong one that was actually still working (I have a large enough array that I have essentially 2 systems, a big and a small one, the larger one went down and they replaced the inverter for the small one). Now the whole system has been down since 10/13 and they keep telling me that someone will contact me within 5 business days (this is my 4th time so far, and they said they were escalating the last 2 times). DON'T use this company, you will be stuck with a system that won't produce enough power to offset the lease payment WHEN IT HAPPENS TO WORK!! read more

I still have to pay my Sunrun bill for service I can't even use. ***SUNRUN IS THE WORST*** I signed up for solar through sunrun over two years ago. I was sold on a bunch of lies and misinformation that I won't even get into. I was paying $150 a month and my panels averaged $40 a month in power. I have spent the last year and a half dealing with sunrun and their absolutely awful customer service. I spent the first 6 months being told there is nothing wrong with my panels and that I signed up to receive this crappie service and there was nothing they could do about it a i signed the contract. Then I spent 6 months dealing with a rep in some kind of escalation department. That rep was trying however she would go over a month without returning calls or emails. Finally I got a supervisor who agreed to terminate my service, have the panels and equipment removed and return my roof to the same "general condition" it was in before the panels were installed. They told me everything would be done within 30 to 60 days. It took 30 days to even schedule anything. 60 days to get an appointment. Then on removal day no one showed up. 3 weeks later a team showed up and advised me that while the are taking large brackets out of my roof, they are not roofers and they aren't comfortable preforming these repairs. It was going to rain so I asked them to have a roofer come out another day. Then 3 weeks later another team shows up and asked when a roofer was coming out. This team as well did not have a roofer and they told me they could remove the brackets but they wouldn't like be able to do it without damaging the roof. All the time this is going on Shawn Badders my case manager is almost impossible to get ahold of and when I call no one will help me. Now I'm a year and a half into this battle and they are refusing to send a roofer to repair my roof. Sunrun has been extremely unprofessional. They have mislead and misinformed me through every step of this process. I am going to be reporting this to the better business bureau as well as seeking legal opinion as this has cost me 100s of hours of my time and I'm out a lot of money. DONT CHOSE SUNRUN FOR SOLAR. They are nothing but frauds. I'm sure there are much better solar companies pit there. Other people in my neighborhood have had these same problems and are fighting this same battle. I must say, after reading all these reviews and my own experience with Sunrun, I am amazed they are still in business. I have already talked 2 of my neighbors out of using Sunrun when they had solar installed. I will continue beating the drum until my entire neighborhood of "over 55" are aware of how much distain Sunrun has for their customers. I am well into my 2nd run in with this company as my system has gone out again. When you call them think of it like them saying "the check is in the mail". If they call you back it won't be anytime soon and then it's just to stall any repair work indefinitely. We are currently working with an attorney and talking with Costco about dropping Sunrun. I had been mulling the thought of solar panels but I couldn't afford them until I found out I could lease. This whole process has been great. The panels were up in Nov. 2019. Had to wait for permits etc. Once. the panels were up we had to wait on APS. I called Sunrun and they have been responsive and respectful every time I called. The system has been up for over a month now. I have been really satisfied with how my leasing purchase has been handled even through this pandemic, which had slowed things down a bit. Leave my thoughts... That a dangerous thing for sunrun right now. I'm trying to get through some issues or the ole bait and switch. The switch consists of about 13,000 dollar difference in the company's benefit. So unfortunately, the individual I spoke to wasn't my actual sales rep even though I called multiple times over a span of about 6 weeks. Heck he wasn't even a manager. Pretty much told me take it or leave it. Not certain if this is who I want to do the work now or not. If they stick with the original agreement, I don't have any issues and will happily update with the awesome service that they provide... Sunrun was great for the sales, the installation, and for fixing a broken roof tile. That was after 2 weeks and multiple calls to get the roof repair handled. Sunrun's customer service and service transfer department are horrible. Hold times are 2.5 hours, I was hung up on, and they're the reason my home sale was delayed, costing me 3600 in extension costs. I'm currently sitting on hold, on a separate day, to try and get them to finish the service transfer or respond to an email. Solar is great. Sunrun is not. read more

For 2 years my electric bill was high and when I addressed tge issue oh all is working fine it's APS etc. April 2022 I received an email that my solar was not working. A guy came a switched the meter didn't even check the whole unit. I thought was fixed then another high bill from APS. After 1 or 2 hours got through the line they sent a tech to look into it to find out the whole thing was not working. Tech replaced everything but Sunrun has failed to update the production and register the new meter so basically there's no way to know if it's producing any energy. Emailing and talking to them it's basically a joke in the mean time I will be paying high bills to APS as if a have no solar. I now have to stop paying them and hire an attorney because I am being ripped off. Don't go with this company. They also increase the lease monthly payment every year. Poor customer service and the CEO is doing nothing. read more
