Avoid Solar Topps. They will sell you a system that is not prepared for the Arizona heat and then blame the salesperson, claiming that the salesperson is an independent contractor and they are not responsible for the promises of their salesperson. They will leave you with a portion of your panels nonfunctional for months and a system that becomes highly degraded during the hot summer months when you need it the most. They also have shady business practices. Our salesperson found a non-licensed contractor to build a shade structure for the battery (which is constantly going down due to the heat) and worked with the contractor to design the structure. He then called at the last minute and asked us pay the contractor and Solar Topps would reimburse us. (So it looks as if we were responsible for the structure, when in truth it was designed, approved, and built by an affiliate of Solar Topps.) When the battery continued to go down, and the shade structure was determined insufficient, they told us that it was our problem to figure out because we paid for it. It seems that Solar Topps does not really care about their customers once the transaction is complete and will leave it to the customer to resolve issues from their poor design and installation. We contracted with Solartopps to install 67 solar panels and 67 Enphase micro inverters (mini computers) on the roof of our house plus 12 backup batteries and Enphase control panels on the west side of our house. We shopped the project with five other solar companies. Sean at Solartopps gave us the best price. Because the solar industry has such a bad reputation we were skeptical when Sean made promises and representations, but if Sean promised it, it came true. All the technology was the newest out in 2021. Over the course of a year (plus a few months) Solartopps worked through the problems of the new technology with Enphase and APS (the power co). The system has been operating beautifully now for well over a year and we haven't paid APS a dime for power. Of couse, we altered the timing of our power usage with timers on the pool and programable thermostates for the house to take advantage of the power the panels generate rather than enriching APS by using power beyond our generation at high rate times or at night. The money APS credits us monthly for selling our excess power covers the draw we have when the batteries run out or on cloudy days. We received rebates from APS for the solar panels and batteries (you have to apply, they are not automatic and now they are less than they used to be) and a tax credit on our taxes. Everyone from Solartopps who came to our house to work was very respectful and hard working, especially Gilbert and John. We were very pleased with Solartopps price and professionalism and we are very happy with our Enphase Solar system and the Enphase App that lets us monitor our power generation and usage instantly from our phones. read more

Our whole solar experience has not been worth the headache we have had. We have a leak we noticed Feb. 14, 2023. We filed a claim with our insurance company (State Farm) and a mitigation team came out to tear out the water damaged drywall and insulation within a week or so from our call to the insurance. The roofing company was called out to assess the damage of the roof and found the cause of the leak is because of the footing not being properly sealed/secured. Both companies (roofing & mitigation) concluded that they believe the damage was due to improper install of the panels by Solar Topp's. Since the demolition to our interior we have had two members of Solar Topps come out. The first one knocked on our door but said he rang our Ring doorbell. That wasn't true because it would've alerted us. So he left without even checking the solar panels. A week later someone else came out and told us before he could inspect the panels we had to get our roof cleaned because it was too dirty. We had the roof cleaned 6 months prior but in order to get the process moved along we paid $300 to get our roof cleaned. It has been 7 months dealing with our interior walls being gutted out which we find to be negligent and irresponsible. No one can finish repairs inside or on the roof until the solar panels are removed. We reached out to Solar Topps (9/21) stating we would be finding legal representation and were told someone would be out the following day (9/22) A representative did come out and inspect the panels. He stated that our leak was due to a crack in the tile and deteriorating underlayment. This vastly differs from what the previous two companies said. Furthermore, this has caused us an extreme inconvenience and emotional distress. We have had to pay double our normal electric bill on top of the solar loan since we haven't had insulation in our walls. Compensation for this would be a step in the right direction for sure. Definitely would not recommend "Solar Topps" to anyone eager to install solar panels. We honestly would like if we could have the panels removed and be done with this company altogether. read more

SolarTopps installed my Solar panels in December 2021. The design was thorough and Sean was very good in answering all my questions and ensuring I got top of the line 400w black panels. The install was clean and thorough. It was placed on the west side to take advantage of APS peak rates 4pm-7pm is summer. It has been producing now for 2.5 years and is exceeding the contracted guarantees. My installation was to augment my electricity not to replace it as that was my best option for ROI. I have gas heating so in winter my electric bill is around $25 and in summer it supplies about 40% of my needs. It is important that you understand how to use APS rates and solar. For example, I run my pool during the day to take advantage of the solar production and the APS lowest rate 10am-3pm in winter. I have a full tile roof and there were no leaks. Do not believe the fake reviews that I know are here. This is a professional company that has outlasted many fly by night solar companies and I recommend them. GO SOLAR THROUGH SOMEONE ELSE - pictures below. Solar Topps completely miswired the system to the point where 50% of panels didn't produce power for 9 months. The roof inspection i paid for revealed that the Solar Topps installers broke 20+ roof tiles, they told me that the broken tiles were replaced. However, the inspection showed that they were poorly glued together. Other tiles were just left broken. Some of the solar panels were installed so loosely that they can blow over with strong wind. They have refused to compensate me for power not produced. See the pictures for yourself. All I want is the system I paid for and was promised, this is the worst costumer experience I have ever had in my life, USE SOMEONE ELSE FOR SOLAR, it's been close to a year and they still haven't done as promised! read more

I called for a warranty work on the bird screen to be replace and this is the second time I had to get it replace. The first time they came out they didn't have the same screen so they just put whatever screen they had available with them in the truck. Now I have over 10 birds on my roof below my panels and their laying eggs up there. When I called for them to come out they said it will take two weeks. It doesn't make sense how they can't take care of their customers. If your in the Goodyear area they can't come see you for weeks. Then if you can't serve us when something need to be fix right away then why serve the Goodyear area? They told me they can't come out sooner. Everyday I can hear the birds on the roof moving around and ripping up the screens. I looked up my bills since I got solar along with how much I pay a month to the solar company and it's more than what I was paying before the solar was installed. I'm going to get a lawyer involved and 3TV news. The lack of service they provide is BS. No one still called me to let me know when my bird screens will be replaced and it's been a week already. read more

Damage to Roof from Residential Solar Panel Installation: If we could give a zero star, we would. We're in the process of filing a lawsuit against Solar Topps. Neil Uppal, owner of Solar Topps told us to go ahead and file the lawsuit because he won't fix the damages that his installers have done. During my Solar installation, his installers damage the roof of my house. We notified them right away. The salesperson told us he would take care of it. Fast forward, we never got our roof fixed. We had a huge leak in the house during a rainstorm. So we contacted the company. The salesperson said we were supposed to send the owner an estimate of the costs, but he lied about it and never told us. Now we're asking the company to fix their damage, they won't, telling us to go somewhere else. Two different roofing companies verified that the leak on our roof was caused by negligence. I want to give Solar Topps a big shout out for their help with my solar system, which they installed over 11 years ago. It has been trouble-free until now. After I received a power bill ten times higher than the normal amount I realized that my solar system must have stopped working weeks ago. I contacted Solar Topps about the problem. Of course, the system is long, long out of warranty. They could have charged me $200 for a service call, but instead hooked me up on the phone with a tech from the inverter manufacturer who guided me through making a simple parameter change in my PV inverter that solved the problem and got the system back to normal operation. We found out that our inverter stopped working when we received a giant electricity bill. We then found out that the online monitoring system had stopped updating since May 2019. We immediately called Solar Topps for service and asked about why no alert was sent to us. The representative Victoria said "because they have thousands of customers now so they are not able to monitor actively." I thought the whole sales pitch was about customer service! Technician was supposed to come out today and my husband and I both took time off from work for this. After a day of waiting, NO SHOW and no one called us. Called the front desk and the lady said there was a delay and the tech would not be able to come today. I understand delay. But someone should have called us to reschedule. The front desk said she would do her best to have customer service (i.e. Victoria) to call us back but also emphasized that they close at 4pm. It is 3:51 now and the phone is not ringing. I will update everyone once I hear back from Solar Topps. Update: No customer service called us back and the office stopped picking up phone at 3:58pm. A technician reached out to us at 4:01pm and claimed that our appointment is scheduled for a different date on his calendar. He offered us different time slots to pick from since we again needs to take time off from work. I hope he does show up tomorrow and anyone from Sollar Topps will call us back in the future to explain the company's inability to "actively" monitor the system. read more

I feel this business is not very truthful. Sales person Steve came out to our home. He gave us his pitch and we fell for it and we also chose this company because of the good online reviews and "A" rating with Better Business Bureau. We signed up and got our installation 3 months later. Steve said Solar Topps would provide bird barrier after install. Bird barrier is one of the main reasons we chose this company. Two months later after solar panel install, no bird barrier. Couple calls to the company regarding it and everyone we talked to "beats around the bush" about it. Emailed Steve about bird barrier but No Response. On another note, we have home surveillance cameras outside our home and 3 days of install, workers were not acting professional. They were shoving the ladder and trashcans at each other and also trying to hit each other with card board boxes. Seeing the horse play was very disappointing. Unfortunately, they got our business and it seems we are nothing to them now. As far as the new solar panel performance, we are still paying high bill to APS on top of the solar loan.
