My solar was installed by SunRun and then there was an issue with the battery. It took over two months to get the battery replaced. My sales rep promised to repay my electricity bill for those two months. I sent him my bills for proof of what I paid. He claimed that it was approved and sent to billing. I never heard anything back and then found out that he left the company. I contacted customer service several times and was told to contact my sales rep. He left the company and there is no one for me to contact. I was given the number for the sales manager and called and left several messages. Never heard back. I am owed over $500 and this is unacceptable. Sara Update 6/26- SunRun customer care reached out to me on 6/15 for more information after I posted this review. Tony was great at explaining all of our options. I had plenty of people soliciting me and you would think this should be simple. Well it is but these other companies confuse the heck out of you. Tony took the time to explain everything in simple terms and helped customize a system that met our present and future needs. The other companies gave us a one-size fits all approach but when we found out that we didn't have to buy the equipment like we were being pushed into we go what! We saved 50% from our current bill without incurring any debt and there was no lien on our home. And get this, we got a protected rate that was locked for the entire term of our agreement. So our monthly bill is level which for us on a fixed income is ideal. I'm am so disappointed in using SunRun... I have made a claim 3 times now. My Sales rep Joseph Leroux is absolutely definition of a typical lying sales rep. I was promised $1 a month for 6 months. I'm now on my 3rd month of being charged for my usage with no resolution. I have called and called and SunRun just says I'll put in a claim with no resolution. I have also had a representative come to my house to check on my happiness of the system and I explained my situation, provided my claim number, provided proof I was promised that deal and it's now been well over a month with still no resolution. However, I feel the need to warn other people about how terrible our experience with Sun Run has been. We met with representative Nick Howard and he seemed reliable. However, as soon as we gave them our business, we have been utterly disrespected and ignored. The most glaring example is how they left a gigantic hole in our dry wall during the electric panel upgrade process. My husband and I have been trying to get ahold of customer service representatives for months now to repair the damage to our house. They at first promised to look into it but never contacted us back and now we are at the point where they actively ignore our phone calls. When confronted about this, Nick offered us a restaurant gift card to apologize for the inconvenience. A SunRun salesman by the name of Devereaux Smith arrived late Friday night last week. My 86-year-old grandmother thought he was a missionary visiting her. Devereaux Smith then spent 2-3 hours listening to my grandmother about her childhood since she is very social and they conveniently grew up in the same area in Utah. Mind you my grandmother has the beginning stages of dementia and after talking to her for this long, you would be able to realize this. Therefore Devereaux Smith should have ascertained that my grandmother can not comprehend the complex 30-year lease agreement that she was being coaxed into signing up for. But Devereaux Smith came over the next day, (Saturday) and got my 86-year-old grandma to sign a 30-year lease agreement to get solar panels attached to the house. My grandmother would be 116 years old after that lease, so we would all then be stuck to pay for it after she dies! Another horrible thing is that if you do not make the monthly payments SunRun can TAKE YOUR HOME AND MAKE IT CAN GO INTO FORCLOSURE! SunRun is attached to the TITLE of YOUR HOUSE!! SO DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY! My grandmother said she was never told this and would have never signed if she knew this information! It took months for Sunrun to reinstall some panels. When they finally did it was done incorrectly. The system failed to work and cost us thousands of dollars in energy fees. When they finally sent some one out to check on the system it caught fire. They claim that the inverter needs to be replaced, however they have not done anything to correct the situation. They said that since it was their fault that the system quit working and caught fire that they would reimburse us for our costs. They lied. Nothing has happened for nearly a year. When their system does not perform as it should, and it will, they compensate you with a pro rated dollar amount "to the lease, not you." With my SCE bill well into the $400+ range in the summer months I had been thinking about solar when I came across the SunRun booth at Costco. I agreed to a consultation meeting at my home. Jeanette Coffey (562-221-1802) came and was extremely knowledgeable, prepared and quite frankly a nice person. She never pressured me once. I had many questions and she fully answered them all. She took a look at my SCE bill history and was able to tell me exactly how many panels we needed and explained how the process would work. The installation was pretty simple- took 1 day. Throughout the process you have access to your account where you can see exactly what's going on. I always felt I fully understood what was happening and if I didn't, Jeanette was someone who I could call or email and she would get back to me immediately. 1 year later I am so happy I made this solar decision with SunRun! I can run my AC when it's hot and not have to worry about my bill. I know what my bill is going to be every month! Also it feels good to run your home on the sun! I still email Jeannette with questions for instance we just purchased an electric vehicle and I wanted to know if this changed our situation. Again, she responded to me within the day and gave me some tips. I started the process with Brandon my salesperson. He was not pushy, asked questions of what I wanted with a system. I bought the system instead of leasing other companies wanted to steer me away from purchasing and into leasing which I did not want to do and was upfront about. They contacted me to set up the install of the panels, inverter, and monitoring system. The work they did was great, they were clean, prompt and courteous. We had a challenge with a panel upgrade and things not managed correctly by one employee of REC. Andrew's communication is poor to say the least. Don't let the action of one bad employee ruin the experience, I told myself. When I recommend REC to my friends, I just tell them that if Andrew is going to be their person dealing with the install ask for somebody else. EVERYBODY who I had to deal with from the installers to the electricians to the painter went well above my expectations. The good thing is that it is backed by Costco. Had a roof leak after the heavy rains. Came out and said they think they fixed the roof- we won't know until it rains again. Said they would send someone to paint the inside but never did. After 4-5 calls and complaining to management they scheduled an appointment but did not show up. Today they came but said that they don't have the right equipment because they were not told we had high ceilings (the tech was inside our house before, how can they not know). It seems like getting anything done with this company is an ordeal. If you have a choice of going solar with another company, do it. Not worth the hassle! read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS NIGHTMARE OF A COMPANY! I was an early adopter of solar and began a solar lease with Sunrun which was sold to me through their subcontractor, Verengo solar. The sales rep promised a fantastic win win situation where in exchange for assigning the $4000+ government solar credit to the solar company, they would install the system for free, and lock-in a rate that would lower my electric bill to always be less expensive than the local electric company, So Cal Edison. Furthermore as part of the lease agreement he said Sunrun would "take care" of the roof for which the solar system was installed, and maintain the solar system for the life of the solar lease. Several weeks later, just prior to installation, I received a notice that the cost of the installation had increased to $1500, not the zero down that was originally promised, which I reluctantly accepted as I felt it was still an acceptable tradeoff for the benefits. The following season I started experiencing roof leaks only in the area under the solar system. My roof, which had no evidence of leaking prior to the install, has been leaking since that time, and Sunrun has denied all responsibilities for the repairs. Upon making a claim to Sunrun for the roof repairs, Sunrun, which has no roofing experience to speak of, coordinated to have another construction company send two dingy looking guys in white tee shirts over in an unmarked vehicle with no paperwork, work order, or business cards asking to enter my house to examine the situation. Then after not being able to determine the source of the leak they said the roof had to be replaced at a significant cost to me, the customer. "As a courtesy" Sunrun offered less than a quarter of the cost of repairs, then retracted the offer after I expressed my concern with the situation. Sunrun's construction manager then said the only option they had is to engage a third party assessor to determine their liability and cost of the repairs, and then proceeded to reject my claim. Even worse, when I challenged them to provide the evidence they used to reject the claim, Sunrun's construction manager tried to blackmail me by offering me $1000 credit in exchange for not providing the report. After I insisted to see the report, he then turned around and threatened to charge me replacement solar fees and "rental fees" for storing their solar system while demanding that I make my own repairs. He then refused to cover any damage that may occur upon reinstallation of the solar system. If that wasn't bad enough, after a few years into the contract, I learned that I am now losing money each month with Sunrun because the rate Sunrun charges has increased to be more than my electric company charges per kW-hr. The only option Sunrun offered for this is to perform a savings analysis. After completing a "savings analysis" Sunrun offered a small one-time credit in exchange for signing a release of liability (which includes legal provisions that extend to the roof repair issue and all prior year losses) and demanded that I "trust them" that the release of liability won't be used in those cases even though they would have the legal right to do so. Moreover they gave me less than 5 days to decide. Since I was unwilling to sign such a blatantly misleading agreement, they rescinded the offer for the credit. Interestingly while explaining this to me the agent admitted that many other customers choose not to sign the release of liability for the same reasons. After pursuing the savings analysis further, Sunrun offered a "temporary" rate reduction which ended up in a rate that is still higher than what Edison charges me. My experience is that Sunrun is only looking out for itself while forcing great expense, hardship, and stress onto the customer. Dealing with Sunrun is initially pleasant and very quickly turns into a nightmare dealing with puppets who essentially relay options contrived by a legal department operating in loss mitigation mode. I am surprised that reputable companies like Costco haven't dropped Sunrun yet. Save yourself a huge headache and go somewhere else for solar!! read more

From start to finish, Sunrun's customer service was beyond reproach. Throughout the entire process, Sunrun appointed a personal project coordinator, so you're not assigned to a customer service warehouse where you have to tell your whole story before getting an answer to a question. I was regularly updated by email with regards to the each step in the process. Sunrun provided me with personally tailored service with their representatives doing household visits to evaluate the layout of the panels, explain how many panels are needed for my household's energy use, explain how the system works, cost estimates, and financing options. Sunrun makes the whole process of getting solar panels very convenient. They do all the coordinating with the utility company and the city as well for inspections, permits, etc. Long story short, it is a hassle free process. I now generate more electricity than I use for the majority of the year, which is a great feeling. I recommend getting in contact with Djonnie if you have any interest in going solar.
