The lady at the desk was quite nice to me and helped me find the correct insurance card quickly and make an appointment. She told me the eye exam would take just 15 minutes when I come in. Day of exam, I arrived a few minutes before my appointment time in case I needed to fill out forms. I finished it quickly and the front desk lady helped me get adjusted beforehand for the optometrist. The 15 minutes I was expecting to wait for the person in front of me ended up becoming 45 minutes, so I'm over my own appointment time by 30 minutes by now. 5 or 10 minutes over, I'd get, but 45 minutes? I started getting worried about being late for work. Even after my eye exam, the optometrist gave me really weird vibes. I told him before we started looking at frames "I want a basic black and small glasses. Nothing too stand-out-ish". Simple request. He starts pulling leopard prints, blue glasses, super large ones that looked like they could be sunglasses, and all these other designs. I reminded him that I wanted small, black ones. I even held up my old pair so he can see what I wanted. Again, he goes to pull the super expensive brands. It felt like he was trying his best to squeeze as much money out of you as he can. After some arguing about the design as I reminded him a fifth time by now that I wanted just SIMPLE AND BLACK glasses, he goes "Oh well why didn't you just say so in the first place?" It felt like talking to a gaslighting parent that didn't listen to you and then blames you later. Even after insurance, the glasses still came out to almost $200 because he didn't carry any basics, only glasses with brands. They said they'll see me next year when I went to pick up my glasses, but I'm going to be going to Costco or Walmart next time. I feel like they'd be cheaper even if my insurance doesn't cover them. Oh also, here's a kicker. I'm seeing spots with the new glasses. My old pair from 8 years ago doesn't even do that. read more

Update on review - they called to tell me my glasses were ready. We had 2 free pair and I bought an extra pair (for my daughter and I) "just in case." Well,, apparently after paying $500 down that wasn't enough even to pay for 1 pair... in fact.... I still owed over hundred dollars on one pair.... HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?? That means one pair cost over $600?? Wtf!?! Oh ya, and the free pair were "not in" yet. So as it would be, I was laid off and could no longer afford those glasses (which had a $348 balance), so I called, and explained my situation and she explained that her policy was that no refunds were allowed. And that I would just have to make payments. Unfortunately, I'm not even able to make payments. Which means I handed over $500 to these shizty people and I will not even have a second pair of glasses for my daughter and I. They are thieves, they are dishonest (making up a policy that was not explained NOR provided to me), and apparently one pair of glasses of the generic kind cost over $600. Do not go to these people they are terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible people. Went here to get contacts because I was ok my last pair, got exam ordered contacts they said they did not have in stock and should show up in a few days and they would call me when they arrive, I said ok, never received call month later I went back to check on my contacts and they were not there I say why! I went here with my boyfriend to buy glasses over the holidays. Dr. Vinnie Tieu was helpful, and although he was a bit too eager about selling us a pair of frames, we still had a good experience with him. We decided to think about the estimates he gave and come back. The next time I went back I was helped by the lady that works there (I'm not sure if she is Dr. Tieu's wife or not). It was definitely NOT a good experience. She was pushy, rude, refused to give me the model number for the frames, and seemed annoyed when I asked her to write down the estimates she gave me so that I could compare them at home with others...she was even hesitating on that one. Although I shouldn't have, I went back in one last time a few weeks later to show my boyfriend the frames I thought he might like. She gave me a different, higher price (seemed made up) for those same frames, and when I proceeded to tell her that we had seen them cheaper someplace else, she told us to just go buy it there. I'm giving them two stars because they actually do have a good selection of frames, although they're a bit pricey. However, I will not go back again as long as that lady is working there. read more

WORST BUSINESS EVER. New to the area and chose this office based on my insurance and convenince of being near my house. HORRIBLE service. The doctor seemed rushed and not wanting to be bothered with questions. Told me eye drops WITHOUT preservatives were best but gave me a sample WITH preservatives. Now to the assitant TRACY...rude, pushy and money hungry. Tried to upsell on eveything. My prescription ended up being wrong because she doesn't know how to stay in her pay grade and realize that she is not the doctor. Ended up fradulently charging both mine and my husband's insurance. When I called her out on it she had the claim reversed for the insurance that paid the least for the exams and not the I.sura.ce I instructed her to use. Please do not get fooled by the one-star rating. This place deserves NO star (it is a required field so I had to put something). Even with insurance, Vinnie tried to rip off his customers. He tries to sell us every product/option possible and try to sneak in additional fees for unrequested services. When numbers don't add up, he simply tears off the chart and re-do another one. Since numbers don't add up right, we challenged him twice on price breakdown and he re-did his chart twice - each time he will mumble to himself that there was a mistake and decrease the price somewhat. He feeds on the fact that the general public is not math-wiz and plays around with numbers as much as he can. After he charged our credit card for $400+, he refuse to give itemized receipt claiming that he can only provide it to us when we pick up the glasses. We walked out of there puzzled by the high price that we paid so we pulled out the vision insurance pamphlet and checked item for item - sure enough, after re-writing the chart and lowering the price twice, he still overcharged us $60. Vinnie lacks the professional ethics and integrity one would expect from optometrist. I feel the need to post this review so there will not be more victims like me. read more

Had an exam here; optometrist tells me I'm near sighted (yes, I knew that). Says I need bifocals too; I say, "but, I don't have any problems reading things, even several feet away, I can still read without the glasses; just need them for night time driving." Optometrist then goes as far as 'showing' me the difference between 'with and without' bifocals. My vision would instantly adjust after he would remove the "bifocal" samples and there wasn't a difference in the reading, but he said I need to get them, he could order me the ones my insurance covers with the line or I could pay $192 for the upgraded version without the line. Tells me my sight will be changing any time now, could be "today or next month" and I say "or in two years, I don't need them, don't want them now." I don't know what it was, but his whole demeanor changed and he became terse with me. On to the frames: I tell them to use my current frames, some really nice and expensive Chanel frames I've had; the front desk woman tells me that they're not responsible if they break; that's fine, then she tells me that I'll lose my insurance 'frame benefit' if I don't buy frames now. After thinking about it, I did need new sunglasses, so I got some sunglasses. All in all I paid $619 for both glasses; the lenses-only order totaling just over $200, imagine if I would've opted for the bifocal-YIKES!! Sunglasses arrived within 2 weeks, my regular glasses with my own frames? 5 weeks!! And that's only because I kept nagging that it's been long enough. After a long wait, I come to realize that the ANTI-GLARE coating is not even included! Due to my astigmatism I am very sensitive to bright light. I compared them to my husband's anti-glare coated lenses (bought at the same place, btw), mine are definitely not coated. I'm scared to return to get them redone as they took sooooo loooong to finish. I'll go back to see if they'll even admit that they didn't process them correctly, but: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I definitely DO NOT recommend anyone going here. You are not going to believe this. I came here to purchase my "Versace" prescription glasses and sunglasses. Well, I was about to pay my balance after the insurance coverage when I noticed the inside of the "Versace" frame said PRADA and the outside of the glasses had the medusa with the zwavorsky crystals. I couldn't believe it! I asked the lady that was helping me if they are genuine glasses and she responded with "what you mean". I said are your frames real, she said "of course, they are made only in Italy". I told her, can you explain the inside of the glasses, it says PRADA and the outside it has the Medusa. She blamed the manufacturer..."whatever". I took a picture when she was yelling in chinese to someone on the phone, mind you she had her 2 yorkies yapping. I'm upset because she has been billing insurance companies and my community. PLUS, they have been receiving frames made in China instead of Italy. OMG I should of read all these horrible reviews before taking my 3 little boys. I had the worse experience with the lady working the front desk & the actual eye doctor. It smelled like urine in the office & was messy. The doctor was extremely rude & has no communication skills when speaking to a patient. And to top it off the lady at the front desk dropped a mirror on my 3yr old son's face causing a deep scratch on his nose. I will be making some phone calls to make sure matters are taken care of. This office is a mess & the doctor should get her license pulled. Terrible!! I will never go back here. I get one visit a year and this was wasted. The Dr. was a rushed, condescending jerk. I asked about my eyes watering for no reason and he told me it was my glasses, even though my new rx is very close to my old one. To start off the front desk is cluttered with unorganized files. I felt like the lady in the front desk explained everything to me in such a rush that I didn't understand anything. My eye exam was also very rushed. I have a decent insurance and I felt like I walked out paying way more than I should have. You're better off going to Walmart optometry. read more

The doctor was good, I have no complaints towards him. But the office overall is not clean, it's very cluttered and full of old frames; not to mention that they didn't have any lights on at all either for some reason besides the exam room. The woman that the front however seemed very nice at first but incorrectly stated that my insurance does not cover for frames (which they did). She only double checked to actually read the insurance policy after the doctor asked about it. Then she said I could pick frames from a certain shelf. Needless to say, there was only like 15-20 frames to choose from. Each one very dusty, old, not updated. And about 80% of the selection was way too small for me being an adult and a lot were kids size. I don't know how they expected me to pick from that small selection. As she was getting my stuff finalized ready to go, I asked her for my prescription so I can buy some more frames online. That triggered the shit out of her. She gives me the side eye and asked "how much do you pay online?" And I replied "it depends on the style frames". She didn't even talk again after that. She writes my numbers down in haste super messy and I was hard for me to distinguish it let alone I'm not even sure if she write me the wrong prescription out of spite because idk how my numbers can go down lower when my eyesight had worsened. I went to this optometry to have an eye exam and since their eyeglasses are very expensive I wanted to order it online to save some money. When I got my prescription I needed a measuring fot pupillary distance to order the glasses. When I returned to their office to get that measurement the receptionist was so rude when she knew I'm ordering the glasses online and tried to force me to buy the glasses from them since I didn't want to order from them she said she will not do the measure the distance between my eyes. I know this only takes less than a minute and very easy even some other places will do it for you for free as a service but they are very greedy and want to force you as much as possible to buy from them without thinking about customers and care about them. I'm doing this review so other people know to avoid this type of business and try somewhere else. All the other reviews are true don't go there. read more

They kept insisting I purchase new frames, because my insurance covers a portion. I told them the frames I purchased there originally were nicer than what they currently had & in perfect condition. I went here to purchase frames for my son, I did not see the doctor there. The lady who helped us with the frames also lacked customer service skills. But I still ordered the frames. After filling out all the paperwork, she told me that my insurance would not cover the "upgrade" and later explained it was a "high prescription" lens and that i would have to pay an additional $20 out of my pocket, when I asked her "why" she said that they only get a fixed amount from the insurance and so I would have to pay the difference. It seemed odd and I didnt feel comfortable with her response so I contacted my insurance. They confirmed that I should not be getting charged any additional amount. The optometrist office did refund the money. When I picked up the frames, I didnt feel like she really wanted to help us. She was short with us and distracted and was going to just give me the glasses, didnt suggest we try them on to see how they fit. I felt like i forced her to sit with us while i tried them on him. They fit him a little big (slid down his nose) and so i asked if she could adjust the frame/earpiece and she said they were not adjustable, that that is how they were..... so against my better judgement, i left dissatisfied and with the glasses not fitting properly. I later took them to our ophthalmologist office where the optician there said she could definitely adjust them (she did in under 5 mins) and now they fit perfect. That optician was surprised that Sunrise refused to adjust them. She confirmed my thoughts! Needless to say, i would not recommend purchasing from Sunrise, their customer service was terrible! read more
