Traveling through ... picked this place based on past reviews. However - I don't think they were prepared for the Memorial Day influx of people. They were overwhelmed and a bit disorganized. Service was very delayed. Ordered our food - the farmers pot pie - based on the server's recommendation. However - once we eventually got our food - he presented me with my order sans sausage gravy - which is the main reason why I ordered it. Apparently they ran out of sausage gravy when he put in the order and didn't tell us. (I mean - how does that happen at a breakfast place - fry up some sausage, add flour, and milk... voilà- sausage gravy!) so - we pivoted and ordered some hollandaise sauce as a substitute- which still took forever to get that (had to order it from 3 different people until we got It to our table) . Unfortunate - but the food was fine. Word to the wise - if this place is slammed, go somewhere else. I bet we would have had a better experience of they weren't busy. read more

My husband and I were so impressed with this cafe when it opened. The service was great and so was the food. I realize with Covid times are different and restaurants have been hit hard with no help that being said we had a pretty bad experience with the service. The restaurant was not busy but we waited for 45 minutes to get our food and watched 3 tables come in after us and their food right away. We asked the server what happened and she said she would check and never came back. The server forgot to put our order in and tried to cover up the issue instead of just being honest about what happened. Anyway unfortunately we will be going to the other local dinner from now on. Be careful how you order. I ordered an omelet which came with 5 ingredients and asked them to Not include 1 of them. They charged me for the four remaining ingredients separately. Stopped in for lunch for the first time today after reading their menu on line. Food we ordered was good however my bacon grilled cheese sandwich was packed with limp, under cooked bacon that was extremrly tough (had to leave it all aside). The waitress was very sweet and attentive. She brought the check and said she mentioned the bacon to the manager. The manager said the customer can deduct the cost from tip! How appauling. I told the waitress that was really wrong-quality of food has nothing to do with her. I hope noone will ever do that to the wait staff. I will not support an eatery that has zero regard for it's staff and customer. read more

No, lettuce and veggie's prepped prior just sitting around till someone orders. This makes a HUGE difference in the taste. Wow! I have a NEW favorite restaurant in Denver, NC!! We had a GREAT brunch at Sunrise Cafe! The place is beautifully decorated, with a crisp clean atmosphere with lovely art. It seats around 60 people or so and there are a couple of tables outside, too! We started off with the most delicious jalapeño poppers I've had in decades (if ever). Nice crispiness outside with a creamy tasty filling. Great start! The Swiss Mushroom burger was outstanding. Perfectly cooked, tasty tomatoes(!) and flavorful beef patty. The fries were perfectly crispy. My husband had the Southwestern omelette and he really liked it. He'll be writing his own review. The attention to detail that the owners pay shows up even in the delicious coffee. Want to know the secret?? Shhh...they percolate their own blend! The sub roll was soft and the steak had a great flavor and was very tender. The onions and peppers were finely diced. This meal was excellent. The fries were thin, long, crispy, and hot. We love this spot for breakfast - we haven't tried for lunch yet and go every Sunday. They opened beginning of April in the middle of a pandemic (bless them!). There were 2 negative reviews regarding that and i wanted to mention they have changed their operating procedures. People need to chill. Stay home if you are expecting specific protocols.
