Let's start this by saying our server Amber, was fantastic! This has nothing to do with the service. The apps ordered were edamame and a seared tuna dish. I asked for gluten free, the chef just removed the sauce. No replacement = no flavor. So for $18 bucks I got 6 slices of dry seared tuna. Great job. The rolls were good, like $5 Publix sushi Wednesday good. Small pieces of fish, spicy mayo and sadness. The sushi menu was Kani (fake crab) and spicy mayo. Most of the rolls were some combination of spicy mayo and kani. No imagination, no artistic creativity or sushi greatness here. I'm going to Publix tomorrow, tomorrow is Wednesday. read more

This was the worst and most expensive sushi i ever had. The portions were so thin and did not taste fresh. We ordered and octopus appetizer and the three thin slices on the dish were sliced incorrectly causing it to be too chewy and hard to swallow. The staff was definitely not on top of their game. This restaurant has been open for probably a little over a year. It's in the middles of strip mall with Famous Toastery/Showmars on one end and Mexican Restaurant on the other. Same area as Lowes and Aldi's I've been three of four times and each time I order the Special which they now call Kanpai Sushi Lunch. It's a California Roll with 5 pieces of Nigiri and Hot Soup. You can for a few bucks more, get a nice house salad to go with it. It's very good and while I cannot definitely prove it, would surmise that the California Roll is not made to order and was probably assembled sometime earlier in the day. The reason that I say this is because the starch in the pieces of Sushi have begun to stick together because of the Starch in the Rice. In many cases, you have to break the individual sushi pieces apart with a fork. They are fused together to the point that chop sticks do not work Something like this normally does not occur till several hours after the roll is prepared. I would guess that the Nigiri is fresh and made to order and they are very good. The hot soup is excellent and I strongly recommend. With this I ordered Hot Tea which was excellent along with the Salad which was a nice touch. Restaurant is nice and clean and the staff is well organized and efficient. Good place to grab a quick lunch if you're in the mood for something different. read more

Kanpai, or Cheers as it means in Japanese is celebrating its one year anniversary. They have a 3 course menu available currently. We have been multiple times. Staff is friendly and fun. They have a nice bar with solid selection of cocktails and nightly drink specials. Their prices have gone up, but I am sure so have food costs. My family of four eats well and the wife and I each have a cocktail. We can't walk out of there for under $100. Here's my three things: 1) Sushi is good quality but rolls are on the small side but very well done. They also do custom rolls which makes my daughter happy. 2) It's one of Denver's best ran restaurants. They have a good vibe, live music some nights, and good for date night on the weekends. 3) They have a nice selection of wines, sakè, and beers on tap. It looks like they have a menu for football Sundays and a few TV's behind the bar. read more

We went here with a friend cause he recommended it. I love some good sushi and it's hard to find. Well i haven't found it yet. I do have to say it was decent. The service was horrible the night we went. Took forever to get our order in, the waitress was just absent, we had to pull other servers to get drinks, was just bad. I got three speciality rolls, which were just not special at all (dragon roll, g crunch roll, and spicy tuna....and another roll but forgot the name). The rolls i ordered just weren't anything special and did not reflect the cost. I found this fairly new restaurant (opened October, 2023) on Yelp! Thanks to my fellow Yelpers. I stopped in for a take out order. Their website says they are prepared for to go orders but they are now. The site doesn't include a menu or much else. The restaurant had a good number of customers at the time and but the time I left around 7:15, it was 98% full. The staff at the front were exceptionally cordial and answered my questions. They are looking for more staff members so that they can open for lunch. I ordered the Dragon Roll (3/5), Seaweed Salad (3/5), and Wagyu Fried Rice (5/5). The salad and sushi were just okay. Now, the Wagyu Fried Rice was divine! I am giving the restaurant 3/5 stars because the serving size (see photo) was not quite up to par considering the prices (my strong opinion). Otherwise, this is a nice, quaint restaurant for date night or a night with friends and family. Reservations are accepted. read more

This was our first time visiting, and right from the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly service--shoutout to Emma, who was especially welcoming and attentive throughout the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant is open and inviting, with a comfortable layout that doesn't feel crowded. I also appreciated that the music was at just the right volume--not too loud or distracting--so it was easy to have a conversation and enjoy the experience. We arrived a bit earlier in the day, which I'd recommend if you prefer a quieter atmosphere, as it started getting busy not long after we were seated. As for the food--everything we ordered was fantastic. We tried a variety of dishes, including some appetizers, a few different rolls, and the Hibachi. Each one was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh and everything was prepared with great care. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. This was our 14th trip to Kanpai. The food is always good, once you get it. Each time, the bar is dreadfully slow as normally I have ask where are drinks are and getting a second drink, just forget it. Lastly, we always have to ask for appetizer plates. Seriously! Tonight, all the same, except the service got even worse as we had to ask for things over and over. They then forgot our Sushi roll and finally brought it after everyone else was done eating, "the ticket was lost", then they wanted to charge us for it. The manager then said we had to pay for it since we ate it! Then I pushed back and they refunded it. The manager (female) would not talk to us. The service is just lacking. I have spent over $1000 there easy and I used to be so excited to go. Now, there is one more place in Denver I will not frequent. I hope 16 Prime remains top notch! read more

This is a sister restaurant from the owner of the Sushi @ the Lake group so my expectations are high. The decor is great and the place has an upscale ambiance without being pretentious. My husband & I had lunch at Kanpai. The food was delicious. We ordered the Hibachi Chicken & the House Bento Box (Salad, Pork Egg Roll, Bulgolgi (Korean BBQ), Fried Rice & Gyoza. It was plenty of food for us to share and gave us a taste of many different menu items. Our server was Gwen (a foodie). She was able to describe all of the different menu options answering any questions we had. Plus, she was very nice. It had a nice atmosphere. Since it was lunch, there were only 3 or 4 other couples. This place hits the spot for fancy sushi!!! Service was amazing, refills were brought without asking. We had the dragon egg, tuna tower, toro tuna roll, spicy yellowtail, and bulgogi. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. Happy we have a local date night place. I kinda wish the inside was prettier and warmer temp wise (I was shivering the whole time). For the environment it would be nice to see people dressed up, most were in T-shirt's and sweatpants. I am happy to see the progress in Denver with this sushi place, it is a step in the right direction I feel like a little bit of Charlotte has come to Denver. I went here opening night by accident (old sign still up from previous business) and fell in love ever since. Sushi is great and I am from Miami where we have the best seafood. I have slowly been telling my friends and neighbors about this place and it has build up quite a following. Only recommendations I have to management to make this place ever better is to: -offer more sushi options that are not raw (for my non-raw lovers! -simple menu categories so we can easily pick stuff out. -Specialty cocktails- need work - consistency is key here. times I've been there different pour heavy or light. I use to be a bartender in Miami and we take a straw and pull it out and test it before serving making sure there is balance. They just expanded their menu so I was excited to try some new items tonight-baked mussels, scallops, and Hamachi Kama. The mussels had a little kick but was so good we placed a second order.
