Wife has a bad case of Vertigo and wanted me to get take-out from Hoshi. It is only about half a mile from home. Sign on the door said "To go only, please use drive thru if possible". Menu prices about $5 higher than Yelp menu photos, but still reasonable. Ordered and had food in less than five minutes. The food was plentiful and hot. My wife and I have driven by Hoshi for years but never stopped in to eat. After eating there twice in 2 weeks it is quickly becoming one of my local favorites. We were there at off time (2-3:00pm) but the service was quick and they food was prepared fresh in a couple minutes. My wife always gets the low carb option (veg instead of rice - $1.00 extra) and it was fresh and prepared correctly. I have had the steak with low carb prepared rare and the udon noodles with steak and both were excellent. My wife had the salmon one visit and teriyaki chicken another and she loved both dishes. Egg rolls are standard fare, but were freshly fried to order. Each meal comes with a 4oz shrimp sauce which is more than enough. Restaurant was clean and service was excellent. read more

Wow, I do not get the hype. I expected this place to blow my socks off after reading all those 5 star reviews. "Best Japanese I've ever had"? It wasn't really even Japanese food. More like fast food Hibachi. The jumbo shrimp were of pretty good quality, so I'll give it that extra star. Besides the jumbo shrimp, it was pretty quick as well, not much else positive I could say. The "brown sauce" on the hibachi was extremely salty. The mushrooms weren't even cooked(button mushrooms are slightly toxic and indigestible when not cooked), the carrots were so sweet they tasted like candy and not really much to say about the rice either. All that said, the shrimp weren't half bad. Yet again, no clue why this place gets so much love. I might try it again, but doubtful. read more

By far the best Japanese food hands down. I always get teriyaki chicken with steamed white rice and I always get 2 extra sides of the chicken. A lot of places when you ask for it spicy they don't even make it spicy, this isn't one of those places! You can ask for spicy or super spicy and they accommodate either! Beware! First of all, the food was bland & watery. But that's not the half of it...I paid with a credit card for take out, and I did not add a tip to my ticket. There was a tip jar on the counter for cash tips, and I figured I would put a tip there depending on how quickly my food got to me, which I did on my way out the door. Ordered teriyaki chicken with broccoli with a side of veggies. Great portions loved the sweet carrots and the rice was light and not too salty. Broccoli was cooked perfectly and there was a good amount of chicken on my plate! I wish the teriyaki sauce was a little more sweet but the sweet carrots helped to balance the plate. Hoshi's food taste great, however; one of the main reasons I love this restaurant is because of how quick they are. My usual order is hibachi shrimp with white rice (comes with sweet carrots). I've eaten here before and the food has been good I ordered carryout. The meal was ready in minutes which was surprising since I thought these were cooked to order. Other times I ordered it took at least 5 to 10 minutes for preparation I got the food home and it was obvious that they precooked everything. Carrots were barely warm. Rice was watery. I wondered if the meat had been cooked sufficiently. It was also barely warm. I didn't eat it, although I suppose I could have microwaved it. I wish they would go back to cooking to order.
