Holy moly 10/10 amazing portions insanely cheap the staff is on top of it the food comes out so quick and they're all so kind. Decent sized restaurant and good menu options. I would absolutely come here again and on a Sunday night this place was PACKED in the restaurant and moving people through the drive through so that speaks to how much of a local favorite it is. I grew up eating at the old Japan building with a passion, absolutely loved it in high school. However, now that I have moved back to the area and tried their food at the new restaurant, my experiences have been overwhelmingly negative. I'm not sure if it's some kind of bacteria in the food that I can't tolerate, or if the way they rapidly cook the meat just doesn't work with my immune system, but I have gotten VIOLENTLY ill the two times I ate here since moving back to lincolnton. I mean, I literally woke up the first time in the middle of the night and crapped myself (literally like a toddler- It was traumatic) all over the floor and rugs down the hallway to the bathroom, before vomiting for the rest of the night. I thought I was going to die. I would've guessed it to be a stomach bug, but I tried to eat Japan about three months later (so I could prove to myself that it wasn't the food) and I had the exact same thing happen to me. It seemed fine when I ate it, but 2-4 hours after my stomach started bubbling and burning with an intensity that made me curl up in pain. I wouldn't go into this much detail but I would've wanted to know before hand if this had happened to someone else. Flies, bad food, and worse service -- ruined my birthday Worst dining experience ever. Flies swarming around the table, food was awful, and the service made it worse. I told the waiter my sushi roll tasted bad -- he just shrugged. I asked if they could take it off the bill since I barely touched it, and he smirked, "Well, you took a bite." Any decent place would've replaced it or done something to make it right. Instead, I paid over $65 to fight off flies on my birthday. Absolutely terrible. This place has decent food if you can ever get through on the phone to order. Drive up, order and pull through to wait if not able to order by phone. If you are, you still wait in traffic. The drive through line is very inefficent, backed out into the street. The past two days, they had the in store order area closed. I decided to take my busisness elsewhere rather than endure a 45 minute wait. Will try again after this economic crippling of our economy by our Democrat Govorner ends. read more

Always delicious, hot, and fresh whenever I have placed my order and picked it up using the drive thru. Yes; sometimes there are a couple cars in line; but that just tells you how good the food is. I do agree; that when calling at 430 (right when they reopen) you can get caught up in the rush and might need to try a few times before you get through; but not a big deal as some others seem to think it is. read more

Usually when I want Japanese food I go to Naganos in Hickory. Last night I was pressed for time so I tried Japan. Never, never again. When I got home and opened it looked as the 2 to go orders of Hibachi Chicken had been dropped, with both containers being busted and all the food mixed together. Worst place to call in an order and expect it to be ready! I called in May 19, 2016 around 7:50pm and the guy that took the order said ready in 20min. Got there at exactly 20min after and he has no food ready for me and said he remember taking my order but don't have it. He retook my order tell me to park up front and he would bring me my food. Paid for it and parked out front. Waited an extra 30-40min! He never came out. Went back thru drive thru and he had it all along! Never came out to bring it to me like he said he would! He even forgot to give me an extra sauce I had asked for before. I had to remind him! Food here is always good (star or that) but damn call in and drive thru service sucked!
