Bonsai never misses the mark. I go here at least once a week to get the fried spring rolls and shrimp pho.

This place sits off the main road and has a very authentic look to it. We were seated right away and although it was empty when we got there it filled up very quickly. The lady who waited on us, possibly the owner, was the only wait staff. She was quick and took care of everyone efficiently. We ordered the Pad Thai, orange chicken with fried rice, and two fried California rolls. The Pad Thai was ok. It definitely wasn't the best we've had. It was lacking enough sauce. The orange chicken was very good. We did not care for the sushi rolls. We would definitely try this place again. read more

I couldn't even get a picture of the full plate! I didn't have time. This was some the best pad thai I've had and in an amazing atmosphere. The hostess was so nice. She asked us all about our work and made sure everything was to our liking. I will go out of my way to come here again! Bonsai House Style and Sesame Chicken were also delicious, very saucey. We recently discovered Bonsai Kitchen and have already been back twice. While location wise/ ambiance wise it is not exactly where you'd expect a restaurant, it is one of the very few places in the Kannapolis/Concord area that have actually "wowed" me. I'll admit I am a big time Thai cuisine fan, and finding really good authentic Thai is tough in bigger cities, but Bonsai definitely delivers. While they have a range of Asian cuisine the pineapple and basil fried rice and curries are so much better than anywhere close by. I have also had their sushi which is defiantly above average! While the food is good. The service matches it as well. Always friendly and shockingly fast, I cannot recommend it enough! read more

Sadly we never got to actually try the food. We arrived around 7:00. We sat immediately to a 1/3 full restaurant with one server and one making sushi. My wife noticed quickly that only one table actually had food. A waiter never came to our table after about 10 minutes. We realized this wasn't a good situation and left. Takeout service: The person who took our order was very pleasant. All items were included as ordered and special instructions were followed. That's sadly where the compliments end. I have never in my life had Thai food as bad as I have here, and that is not an exaggeration. I feel bad slamming a restaurant this hard, but I can't in good conscience recommend them. We ordered 3 noodle dishes (udon, pad thai, drunken noodle), a pineapple fried rice, and a red curry. The noodles in every dish were overcooked, the rice was dry, and the curry had NO flavor and the slightest bit of heat. Usually curry is much more vibrant in color, and it was barely a shade of pink. It was also thinner than I am accustomed to. The sauces in the noodle dishes were quite plain and didn't taste like the flavors I expect from these dishes. The udon's "brown sauce" tasted like literal soy sauce and nothing more. The whole order gave the impression of extremely Americanized/watered down Thai food and it was very disappointing. $60+ spent for less than average food. Based on most other reviews, this experience seems out of the ordinary, but we will not be ordering again and will stick to our normal go-to place for Thai cuisine (that is sadly closed on Mondays). read more

I had this place for the first time today and am quite confident I will not be back. I ordered it to go at lunch time as it seems to be a popular lunch spot. I had to call in the order as there is no online option. Though, it was rather straightforward. The first thing I tried was the soup. I was told that it was in a big container but still the same amount. Though, you can see by the line that it wasn't the case. It was also clearly separated and I took the pic after much stirring. It was unlike any Tom kha gai I've ever had. It was one note and filled with rice noodles and even cucumber. I couldn't eat it. Next up was the spicy tuna. It was a terrible texture so no amount of soy or wasabi could save it. Lastly was supposed to be tofu pad Thai but it was full of the strangest veggies for a pad Thai: broccoli, celery, and tons of cabbage. The taste was very sweet and did not hit on any of the other notes of pad thai: sour, spicy, or salty. Was ketchup used? I hated it and the mushy rice noodle texture. I was extremely disappointed as I couldn't eat anything that I spent $30 on. read more

Was in the area and googled the location. I received a very warm welcome upon coming in the door. I ordered a spring roll appetizer that was amazing. The dip that came with the spring rolls was awesome. My meal came and it was very appealing in sight. I ordered a dish that had a slight kick to it. When I say that it was good.. .it was good. The vegetables were cooked perfect. Even the rice was hot and tasty. I am not much into carrots but they were good also. And to complete my meal I ordered a sushi roll that was recommended by a staff member. The Dynamite sushi roll is definitely something I will order again. This place is a hidden jewel. The sushi was delicious and fresh. The customer service was excellent. The restaurant is very cute and welcoming.

Every bite we ate was delicious and full of life! I had the wonton soup and larb beef salad and I was oooo-ing and awww-ing the whole time. My kids has the chicken fried rice and it was the best chicken fried rice I've ever had. Everyone loved their food and we were already looking forward to our next visit. The owner is so sweet and I could tell she enjoyed talking with us. Servers were attentive and on point. Would highly recommend for all things Thai. Looking forward to trying their sushi. read more

The food is okay, nothing special. I would go back to try something different for sure just to give this place another chance. I had the chicken pineapple fried rice and it was ok. The fried rice was delicious but they put canned pineapple tidbits in the rice instead of FRESH pineapple chunks. I was a little disappointed. I also ordered the orange dragon roll, I would not recommend their sushi at all. The taste wasn't fresh and the spicy Mayo was some mayonnaise they made on their on, definitely not the standard spicy Mayo you find on sushi. It actually tasted like mayonnaise with no spice. The customer service was great though very nice people. I would definitely prefer if they didn't put my straw in my drink for me though. That was a little off putting. Still worth a try. The actual food doesn't look anything like the pictures on Instagram . I tried liking it . We ordered plenty of variety and I didn't like how it looked and the taste was lacking in some areas . Some flavors were sweet and some didn't have enough . I really wouldn't recommend it . The sushi didn't have that amazing flavor I was hoping for . When I saw the pics on Instagram I craved this place for a week . not to mention this was $90!!!! We spent $90 for that quality of food . I can't even believe my husband just told me that .
