This was a pleasant surprise. We came to Gibson Mill to meet a friend and check out the shops. Of course, I wanted to see the food court. They had a nice variety, yet I immediately went to this Thai restaurant as I haven't seen a lot of Thai places here. They have a good mix of options and the prices were good. I got the chicken Pad See Eew. They cooked it fresh in front of me and it was ready in less than 12 minutes. It was exactly what I needed. The flavors and portion size were on point.

Located inside Gibson mill market. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Be sure to tell them to turn down the heat bc it sure was spicy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The egg rolls and springs rolls were really good with the Thai sweet chili. The main dish could have used a sauce on the side or something but it was decent.

I came here on a whim while in the area and wanted crab Rangoons to go with whatever else I decided to get. The gentleman at the register was quick to help and took my order fast and I was done in about 45 seconds! I told him I'd come back for my food while I went to order an entree elsewhere. When I came back about 8-10 mins later he saw me coming and smiled and picked up my food to hand me. The Rangoons were filled nicely and had a great flavor! I would definitely get them again if in the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very clean, neat, and friendly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

First time trying the food from this vendor at Gibson Mill Market. It was fresh, hot and delicious. We ordered at the counter and found a seat close by. They don't yell out your number so you kind of need to keep an eye out for the side counter where they put the food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gibson Mills Market is a fun place to try for variety food stalls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's lots of seating but there are busy times where it might be a little hard to find a seat with a big crowd. They also have outside seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Sadly, there is just not much as far as decent selection within at least 30+ minutes driving in the area. However, Chef Thai is exactly what I expect and want from a wonderful Thai restaurant; slightly tacky decorations, nothing fancy, and wonderful smelling aromas coming from the kitchen! As of now June 2022, they are ONLY DOING TAKE OUT. So if you want to eat there, please call to see if they are open. They do take orders for takeout by phone as well. The staff I have dealt with are always very pleasant and they are extremely fast for the quality of food. My first time in I was delighted to see they had my favorite Thai specialty on the menu, Pad Prik Khing, and it may be the best rendition of it I have had anywhere! As with most places they offer their entree in a range of spice, I typically get "hot" and it is not as hot a a lot of other places, so if you want really hot, go for "Thai hot". Chef Thai is definitely a great place and I hope they continue to do well as they are definitely one of the best quality restaurants in the surrounding area, even though they may not be very well known.

Updated review- My husband and I used to love this place…read more It was the best we could find in the whole Charlotte area and we frequented it often. Unfortunately the two chefs left the restaurant and now it's just become another so-so Thai spot. It lacks spice and everything we've had for the past few months has been bland and underwhelming. So disappointing! We really loved this place a year ago! Pfttt

The host/server didn't greet us or say hello--instead, she looked confused that we were even there. When we asked if we could sit at the bar, her response was, "Um... yeah, I guess," which immediately made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. After we sat down, she continued staring at us as if we weren't supposed to be there. The service only got worse from there. She was rude while taking our order, then spent most of the time sitting directly across from us on her phone. She never once checked on us, asked how the food was, or if we needed refills or anything else. It was some of the most inattentive and unprofessional service I've experienced. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it. It was mediocre at best. The vegetables in my curry were clearly freezer-burned, which completely ruined the dish. I also ordered soup with tofu in it, and the tofu tasted like it had been fried in oil that hadn't been changed in months. It had an old, rancid, greasy flavor that made it almost impossible to eat. Overall, the poor customer service and disappointing food made this a terrible experience. I won't be coming back, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

My hubby ordered pad Thai level 5 spice and loved it. Said it tasted a little different than last time but was still really tasty. I tried the drunken noodles with chicken, medium spice. It was fantastic! We also tried the mango bubble tea, wow! So delicious and refreshing!! Although we were sad to see our old friend, the old manager was no longer there, we were very pleased with how friendly, efficient, and genuine customer service was. We enjoyed the food and the prices were very affordable as well for how much food you get with your meal. Huge portions and oh so good and flavorful. Honestly, we will be back and if you're worried about new management changing things, don't! The food is still delicious here and the customer service is still great! We did an uber eats order and picked up this time, but we plan to eat there next time. Upon walking in, I noticed there were freshly cut flowers at every table. The decor was gorgeous, the space was clean, and of course like I already said...the staff there were great and very helpful and welcoming! We will be back!!!

We ordered the Basil Fried Rice with chicken (added a sunny egg on top), Pad Thai, and the beef skewers. The basil fried rice was the standout. Great wok flavor, rice wasn't soggy, and the egg with crispy edges tied everything together perfectly. I ordered medium spice -- just right for me, although my wife felt the heat immediately. Thai medium is not American medium, so order wisely. The Pad Thai was solid and balanced -- not overly sweet, good noodle texture, generous portion. The beef skewers were tender with nice char and paired well with the peanut sauce. Service was friendly, food came out hot, and portions were generous. Now for my slightly controversial take: in my experience, Asian restaurants are almost never 5-star places. The magic zone is 3.5 to 4 stars. That's where you usually find the most authentic, no-frills, flavor-first cooking. If a place is too polished, something is probably toned down. Thai House sits right in that sweet spot. Would absolutely come back.

I ordered the broccoli fried rice and the knockout rolls. The broccoli fried rice was decent--nothing extraordinary, but it satisfied my hunger. I ordered it at a level 2 spice, which ended up being a bit spicier than I expected. It also could have used a little more flavor overall. The knockout rolls were good and generously filled, which I appreciated. My only complaint was the peanut sauce, it tasted more like hoisin sauce, and I wish it had a stronger peanut flavor. The service was also very good. The staff at the front were friendly, welcoming, and made picking up my order a pleasant experience. Overall, it was an alright Thai restaurant. It may not be the most memorable meal, but it's a convenient option if you're looking for a quick Thai takeout spot with great service.
