We went here because the reviews were so good, and it was close to our hotel. The morning was chilly and foggy, so a large dark roast coffee was my dream. I needed some protein to hold me until an early dinner, because three squares is waaaaay too much in this foodie town. Anyway- I ordered a plain bagel with egg, sausage and cheese. Hubs had an everything bagel with smoked salmon, tomatoes, cream cheese and capers. Both were divine - hot, crispy exterior and nice, soft, doughy interior. Hubs loved his latte, and my dark roast was deliciously rich. They must grind their beans, because the flavor was so satisfying. After we finished, Hubs ordered a strawberry and Nutella crepe. Our counter guy was helpful and friendly. They have quick service, too. The inside is cozy, and they have plenty of outside seating. We are returning tomorrow until we have to leave for another town on our vacay. This is not to be missed! read more

The wait was longer than expected, but for the quality we'll allow it. It's smaller inside, but lots of seating on the wooden benches outside. If you decide to sit outside fear not they will come outside and call your name when your order is ready. If you're taking a whale cruise, Sunrise cafe is conveniently located next to the waiting lines when you head down towards the doc. Otherwise if you didn't know it was there it might be hard to find. Not easily seen from the front of the building. If you enter the building you have to go down two flights of stairs and make a left. So it really is a hidden gem. There are pastries and breakfast items available, I got the avocado toast, it's got A LOT of avocado on it so I scrapped a bit off and spread the rest, with a delectable balsamic glaze. Food was perfect. The place is small but who cares. There are many picnic tables to eat at out on the dock. My husband had a bagel sandwich and loved it. Get the lobster crepes if you want to brag and send photos back home to your friends. Huge amount of lobster meat perfectly flavored with a touch of mayo. The blueberry pie was extraordinary, not mushy just a crispy crust and not too sweet. The cinnamon roll was ok, a bit dry. But the blueberry scone and muffin were so soft and delicious. My favorite item was the whoopie pie. I had no idea how prevalent these are in this part of the country and tried a few on our trip, this one was amazing. I do not typically care for chocolate desserts but this was moist and not too sweet. Great texture and flavor. Lots of other food here that go beyond bakery items, but we didn't get to try. Sunrise Cafe was recommended in almost every Bar Habor itinerary, and I can see why! It was way less busy than we had expected on a Sunday morning, and we were able to snag a table right away. We went up to order at the counter and each got a Dirty Chai Latte, as well as the Smoked Salmon Bagel and Blueberry Pie to share. Service was quick and friendly! Our Dirty Chai Lattes were very tasty and ideal for a cool autumn morning. The Smoked Salmon Bagel was also great - the bagel itself was nothing special, but the Smoked Salmon was absolutely delicious. And of course, the Blueberry Pie was easily the best we'd ever had - perfect crust, perfect level of sweetness, perfect flavor. I regret not ordering another slice to-go! Just a few feet from Harborside Hotel, my family and I were able to enjoy breakfast at this casual cafe several times during our stay in downtown Bar Harbor. Sunrise Cafe was my favorite spot for food in Bar Harbor. My friend and I loved it so much, we came in twice during the duration of our visit. The staff was friendly and service was fast! They charge reasonable prices for a place located right on the waterfront. I ordered the Turkey Avocado Club on wheat bread to-go so we could have lunch in Acadia. I know it seems like a simple order and that you could probably order this at many places, but they knocked it out of the park. Everything the sandwich contained was perfect and tied together nicely. The sandwich also came with chips and a pickle. I highly recommend Sunrise Cafe to everyone and I already see myself coming back the next time I visit Bar Harbor! read more

Would recommend! Also, their drip coffee is self service with sweetener options like honey or liquid sugar, as well as some powdered cinnamon or chocolate! Really raises the bar for a drip coffee. Absolute treat and best breakfast! The crepes are so light and fluffy. The creativity of contents and presentation is amazing and they burst with flavor! We had seen Sunrise Cafe on yelp and decided to try it for breakfast. It's right on the water and you can look out at the boats while you eat if you go outside. They have several tables inside as well. We both got the blueberry crepes for breakfast. It was sooo good! They tasted just as great as they looked. The portion is huge and neither of us could finish ours. They have nice coffees as well. Sunrise has fresh blueberry pies in their window when walking by that looked and smelled great. We laughed at the half pound chocolate chip cookies that they had for sale at the cash register for sale. I've never seen such a big cookie! I thought the prices were very fair and I would happily go eat at Sunrise again if I was in the area. read more

I got the strawberry Nutella crepe and my boyfriend got the raspberry crepe. Mine was stuffed with lots of strawberries and had plenty of whipped cream. I loved it and it kept me full for hours. They also have savory crepes if that's more your thing, including lobster crepes. There is outdoor seating covered by a tent but seating is limited, so come early or be prepared to wait. Also since you aren't being waited on, there is no one to wipe your table down in between diners, so bring your own Clorox wipes! At the end of Main St and the start of West St, on the lower level, overlooking the harbor lies this sweet little restaurant. Only open til 2pm, you can grab great coffee, espresso or cappuccino, and other drink options. We only had the delicious blueberry scone but we sat long enough to watch crepes being served to delighted patrons. Crepes, made to order, sweet or savory. Avocado toast was also featured. I just wish we visited for longer to sample more of the menu! When crowded, the dedicated staff hustle to move things along but stop in during a lull and chat with this great crew! read more

Wow! Talk about an incredible sandwich...This little place makes magic between 2 pieces of bread! My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick bite before boarding the Lulu Lobster boat tour. My dad told me about a place on the docks off West St that had great blueberry pie that they placed in the window. We walked in and they had a great menu. I chose the tuna sandwich and the lovely lady taking our order recommended I add avocado. It was a basic white albacore tuna salad but it (when combined with the arugula and avocado on their bulkie soft bun) was mind blowing! My boyfriend ordered the Lobster BLT & he loved it as well. They both came with a pickle & a bag of chips. There were a few tables in the cafe, but they were full so we sat and ate our sammies at the picnic tables out front of the little cafe. It was the least expensive (and one of the best) meals we had the whole time we were in Bar Harbor. I couldn't leave without a piece of their homemade blueberry pie. It was 1/2 the price of other places on West St and it tasted fantastic! They topped off my fresh brewed iced tea (also super delicious) and we were on our way. We needed a quick breakfast. We stopped in here and grabbed three breakfast sandwiches a It was a tad busy. But, I think that is because the cruise ship was in the harbor at this time. We sat down and waited for our sandwiches. They came out daily quick. The egg was good and cooked well. But, the English muffin lacked so much flavor. We should have thought again after seeing that majority of patrons are ordering blueberry pie and general desserts, and not the main entree items. But we made a mistake in ordering lobster roll & a lobster crepe at the cafe. Both items turned out extremely dry and barely had any taste. We had lobsters better than that in many New Jersey diners along major highways. Overall, our experience with Sunrise cafe was poor as we should have seen it for the tourist trap it was. We have been coming to Bar Harbor for years. I have enjoyed Sunrise in the past and called to place an order before our whale watch. The woman on the phone said yes and then I heard another lady say "they are too busy to take to go orders tell them to wait inline like everyone else." The employees were so friendly & the food was so good that after going here for breakfast on my first day in Bar Harbor I kept going back because it was so good. The iced coffee was delicious & iced coffee refills are only $1. Try anything with blueberries & you won't be disappointed. As for ambiance, there is outdoor seating at patio tables overlooking the waters edge. Don't worry - the outdoor tables are under a canopy in case it rains. The location is near the dock that whale & puffin watching tour boats leave from every few hours. Dog friendly location. My wife & I ate with both our dogs at our side.
