As a freshly sprung adult all those years ago, I used to think, I wish there was a class for people called "don't look like an idiot on the dance floor". While I never did find and admittedly, I didn't really search for either, a class aimed at young adults who don't want to look like an idiot on the dance floor, I somehow fumbled my way through my 20s, had a child in my 30s who is now a budding primary schooler. I thought to myself, what are all the really important things in life that a man should know how to do and somehow "don't look like an idiot on the dance floor" came to mind -- so here I am. A middle aged man sitting in the waiting area of a dance studio while my grade schooler learns how to dance. Sure, he looks cool doing it, he's learning coordination, he's part of a team of kids doing something together, he's getting his energy out in a productive way, he's cart wheeling, front rolling, hand standing, back bending, stomping, popping, locking, pointing in a hip-hop-esq way but what is most important here is that when he becomes an adult, he'll be able to roll up to da club and show up all those other posers who only wish that they "didn't look like an idiot on the dance floor". No amount of best value for your money, conveniently located hip-hop, tumbling, tap, or ballet classes can even compare to the satisfaction he will have when he's in his 20s and ruling the roost. To my 21 year old son making bad decisions in life, I dedicate this review to you. Now please just let me get through these multiple days per week watching you fumble around on the dance floor trying to keep up with the kids next to you while you shake your tiny little groove thing!

I have attended group classes at other places, and this place is heads and shoulder above it. At those places, u are in a room full of like 30-40 people and U always end up having an unbalanced class ratio of guys to gals, so u might end up dancing the wrong steps many times, or end up standing around more than dancing. The instuctors here, Maryanna and Carlos would dance with each student and also observe each of U when you dance, allowing for immediate corrections and guidance on making you a better dancer. At those other community classes, U'll be lucky if the instructor knows your name at the end of 6 weeks. Definitely worth a visit and stopping by, you will not be disappointed.

The heat of the classroom was the hottest I've experienced, and I've attended a handful of classes around the valley. This studio had the classroom set to 110 degrees, with a closed door and full class so the temperature easily feels closer to 115. If you're new to heated classes, I would work your way up to this class/studio. They do offer great pricing for class packs if you're interested in trialing it out for two weeks. If you're sensitive to heat/scent, I wouldn't recommend a heated class as you DO sweat heavily as well as all other participants. Meaning - you WILL smell other people and their sweat. The studio offers lockers and cubbies to hold your items and also has a well kept bathroom with showers to rinse off after class.

I took a class here last night in studio B and it was a heated flow class. Pretty challenging but hey that's what we need in life to be even better than we were yesterday. Only complaint about this studio is that there is only one bathroom for women for a studio this size. There is definitely a line for the bathroom in the women's locker before classes. Locker room is a decent size but also could use one more bench in the middle so people have a place to put their stuff when grabbing items out of the lockers. I like the Foundry and think their studios are pretty solid, you'll definitely seeing me coming back again!

Soon after arriving and meeting Kyryl (one of our dance instructors) we notice the vibe is off. He is rude and slurring his words. We continue on with the tour and meet Andre (our second instructor) who was perfectly polite and professional. After some discussion regarding our upcoming event and layout, we start the class. Both my wife and I could smell alcohol on Kyryl's breath. He continued to be rude. Kyryl was partnered with my wife and I was with Andre. A few minutes into the actual class I see Kyryl slap my wife's butt - hard. I was in shock and could not believe this was happening. I asked to dance with my wife because I didn't want Kyryl touching her or close to her anymore. We maintain some semblance of calm and don't address the inappropriateness head on - my wife and I were both in shock. Just a few minutes later Kyryl slaps me the same way. At that moment, my wife exclaims: "that is not okay, consent matters, please stop." To be clear, we wanted to choreograph a dance to a ballad - there was no explicit moves requested. We left shortly thereafter. Although Andre didn't do anything inappropriate, he stood by and watched as his colleague violated us. This is not okay; it's harassment and completely outside of respectful, professional, legal behavior.

Time for an update... and it's still five fabulous stars for Paula and her staff. My daughter will…read moretake her place on stage at her first ever elementary school variety show with seven other kindergarteners tomorrow, and thanks to Paula, I'm confident that the group will do amazing thanks to the choreography and preparation that was put into the act. We've had regular weekly practices at PCDA starting in early December, so that's almost 3 months... and Paula and her team brought their "A-game" to every single practice. They were patient with the kids and made each practice fun. They taught the kids some amazing moves... even the ones that will likely never be the star of the dance floor (ahem - that was me)! They were also communicative with the parents, which was much appreciated. The kids are also learning way more than just a dance... they are getting an incredible experience, gaining confidence, learning about smiling when on stage, keeping going if/when something goes wrong, and so much more. I am not sure that dance will be in my family's future with all of the sports we tend to get involved with, but if possible, I'd love to continue to work with PCDA in the future!
