Started here a few years ago with my daughter. She was super interested in dance so we signed her up for tap/ballet basics. We stuck it out for several months but then walked away due to dance moms and their rude snotty kids. We came back a year ago to sign our daughter up for gymnastics and she's been thriving. She loves the sport and we are super happy with Coach Gabby. Coach Gabby is very patient with the kiddos and really takes her time with each child to ensure they are learning the correct skills and techniques. She's very encouraging and gives positive criticism - Coach Gabby understands the influence and role she is providing to these young girls which is so important Update: I've had to lower my overall rating for Sunrays due to a front desk receptionist and team reviews. The receptionist is rude and has no respect for parents on a schedule. This goes hand in hand for the reviews. We were told the individual reviews would take 30 minutes. However the reviews ran late due to coaches not cutting parents off and we had to wait 45 minutes past our scheduled time slot. If it was a weekend we probably would have been more laid back however it was a work day and school night. We already have to be at the gym until 8pm for practices. But due to the lack of time management on Sunrays end we were there until 915. For a 7 year old that is far too late. Plus the coaches didn't even offer to reschedule they told us to just wait. I grew up playing competitive soccer in the valley as well as collegiately. One of the main skills that were driven into us athletes was time management. As a competitive gym Sunrays prides themselves on shaping their gymnast into strong, mindful and organized athletes. They need to uphold the same standard for all those employed. read more

This place is like a factory. They get as many kids in as possible & the place is very chaotic. The space given to each group is so small they run into each other when they're doing their skills. There's no personalization in the beginner levels; the coaches just have tablets telling them what to have the kids do. If a kid wants to pass to a higher level and just needs one more skill, they might not work on that skill for several weeks in a row. This place is definitely not worth the high cost! I can tell that the higher levels have great coaching but I don't think it's a good place for beginners. Also, if you happen to leave something there, they just donate it instead of saving it in the lost & found, which of course I discovered the hard way. I had left a nice water bottle & when I called to ask about it, they said it would be in the lost & found but by the next week they had donated everything. The fact that they do this wasn't mentioned when I called to ask about the bottle so I assumed it would be there the next week. Give parents/gymnasts a warning when the lost & found is going to be dumped at Goodwill! read more

My son started coming here when he was 18 months old and he's now 4. We haven't been going to the classes consistently. There's always a break for the summer . . . overall, we like this place. The most important thing to consider is that my son always have fun here. The instructors are nice and patient with the kids. Some of my other friends wouldn't agree with me regarding the kindness and patience of the instructors . . . but I stand by my own experience here with my son and we have had only good experiences. Well, now there's the option with going to North Valley Gymnastics. I just don't know, I'll have to give this some thought and figure it out once summer is over. This is a great gymnastics school for serious gymnasts. My daughter has been going here for a year and a half and she has shown considerable improvement, is getting stronger, building confidence and it's helping improve her coordination. They change the circuits every two weeks so the routines are always fresh. I love the teacher Jade, she is my favorite. She challenges the kids and works with their skill level. Jade has a great attitude, is very enthusiastic and you can tell she really cares about instilling good form while building the fundamentals of gymnastics in her students. I highly recommend this school for kids 2 years and above! read more

It appears my original post was taken down. We have been here over a year and we have done lil Ninjas, the mommy and me class, and all by myself for 3 yos Pros: About half the staff is fantastic. Positive, organized, knowledgeable, great with kids. The facility is beautiful The equipment is clean and new appearing The kids leave loving it If you miss class you get a makeup credit They have weekly themes to make things fun (think candyland, dr Seuss, Star Wars) Cons -The classes are quite full and difficult to get into. Then doing makeups feels nearly impossible. -You either get a super knowledgeable coach or clueless stand in. A lot of movement of staffing. -Despite the great interest in Ninja it is clearly an afterthought and they are tucked in the corner. The space limits the equipment and it starts looking competitive. -Ninja kids don't move up or perform anything until they are 6. So if you join at 4 your child will be in same class for 2 years even if they master the skills. - there is a lot of sitting and watching in the younger gymnastics. - the coaches with the younger kids need help and only about half the time have support staff This is a gymnastics gym first and foremost. Ninja happens in the background and the dance program is literally in the background. read more

I would love to give five stars because the coaching staff is so amazing and caring. Unfortunately, I am giving three stars, for two reasons. My daughter has been going here for over a year now. First off, the place smells like a dirty locker room on a regular basis. It's very unappealing, especially when you have to sit there for two hours. And secondly, the front office staff is rude, uncaring, and frankly, not helpful at all. When you call on the phone, there is not a friendly answer and they seem to be irritated with you, like you are bothering them with your questions. I am going to say, out of 8 phone calls, ONE time I got someone who was happy and helpful. I see the place is very busy on a regular basis, but that is no reason to be rude to people. This last time made me write this review when the woman stood there with her arms crossed the entire time while we were talking. It's extremely rude and gives off a really bad impression. And she just flat out did not want to help me. I asked, "what am I supposed to do?" (Arms crossed) just stared at me. No response. I turned around and left disgusted. The front office attitude needs to change. read more

We had my son's 3rd Bday party here yesterday and it went so much better than I imagined it. The party went smooth, without a glitch. The party host took care of everything, they were great with the kids and the planned activities and were so friendly and pleasant. We had several different ages and they had something for everyone and they all thoroughly enjoyed it! Our guests all complimented us on the party. I highly recommend having a party here! read more

We just signed up a couple of weeks ago after a great trial class. My 2 (almost 3) year old loves this place and her teacher, Ms. Destiny so much she throws a fit when it's time to leave and asks every day if it's gymnastics day. We are happy. read more

It really depends on who you get for a coach. We tried the class out for several classes. The first few times we got an unenthusiastic coach for whatever reason and it did not seemed planned or have music (which it's supposedly to partially be a dance class?) hardly worth the $170 for both my toddlers. I probably wouldn't do it if I were paid. however, We did try another class on a different day that the coaches were really great but there was not a lot of room in the tiny studio for our children to really expend any energy or run around and use the equipment like we can at North Valley Gymnastics. We just get a much better work out at NVG and it's half the price. read more

We are going on our 4th year with Sunrays and we are so proud of all that our nearly 6 year old daughter has learned to date. She simply loves gymnastics! Now with the new facility and equipment, easier parking, and cafe, we wouldn't consider going anywhere else for her gymnastics instruction. Also, big kudos to Sunrays for being the only day camp in town still open in mid-late August when we need an option since our school starts later than the rest. Minus one star for their twistin' tots classes which have gone downhill over the last few years. Our 2 year old daughter's instructor is really not engaging and lacks the energy and group management skills you would hope for at this age where the fundamentals and love for the sport begin. read more

Coach Matt has been coaching my daughter for over and year and he has been amazing. Over the last 5 years at Sunrays, my daughter has learned to be a strong, patient and a graceful young gymnast. I have taken my now 15 month old son to both the dance and gym which are free for him. It seems he already like the gym better and so we stuck with that for now, maybe in a few months we try dance again. Ms Caroline is very fun and tries to really interact with the children to get their groove on. Jumping Genie (?) is the gymnastic instructor and makes it fast paced. It took some adjustment for my boy to get used to, but he seemed to like it better last time, so we keep moving. The only thing I wonder if they sanitize all the toys after each session, especially during flu season as they were just left there and not separated out. read more

My 8 year old came to sunrays to improve her flexibility for dance. She fell in love with the coaches, the gym and has decided to stay and pursue gymnastics. We feel very at home at sunrays and my daughter is progressing very nicely. I recommend sunrays for all levels of gymnastics. read more

All 3 of my daughters have gone to Sunrays. My older twins went there over 12 years ago and just learned the basics, but really enjoyed their weekly class. Fast forward 10 years and my youngest daughter started going to Sunrays 3 years ago when she was 4 and now is in their developmental program on the path to compete in the Spring. She was a natural and the coaches are so good at putting each child in the right program where they are challenged, but not overwhelmed. My daughter goes to practice multiple times per week, but still wants to go there for Supercamp over the summer and during school breaks as well as have her birthday parties there. She can't get enough! Their new facility is amazing and I am thrilled with how much my daughter has grown both physically and mentally strong. read more

I have two kids that have been attending AZ sunrays for a year now. They absolutely love it. The coaches are amazing. My son has been in the ninja classes and had a great time. He's now taking a Tumbling class which he think is so cool. My daughter has just started the competitive team program. Which is difficult but she thinks it's amazing and lights up every time she talks about her class, teammates or coaches. So to me what makes my kids happy must be a great place and I will continue to bring my kids here. read more

My daughter wanted to take gymnastics, and asked forever. She started last year at Arizona Sunrays as the new gym opened. It is amazing. All of the coaches have been patient as she has learned and progressed in her skill level. She has also attended super camp and I was shocked how tired she was from all the fun she had! Sunrays has been great for my daughter! She had learned so many skills and is having a great time. I highly recommend this place.

I was waiting a long time to review them. This place looks nice on the surface but it has such a strong political agenda behind the scenes. No one there really cares about your children. They are just a number for their business. Some of the coaches were rude, unprofessional and a safety hazard to the young kids. My daughter got hurt twice in Amber's class. One time with a nose bleed. All they did was giving her ice. No accident reports... nothing. They said she can go home or go back into her class. Crazy! Front desk was not too bad but some of the staff were really rude. I was told by Kenzie to stay quiet because it was in my child's interest. No way I would allow anyone to talk to me this way... especially, when I spend my money there. Definitely NOT in my child's interest! Definitely in their interest! Never coming back again. Kids don't get a chance to really shine there, they get lost in the crowd. Their office politics ruin the beautiful vibe of gymnastics. Such a shame... read more

Very unaccomodating and expensive! If your kids cannot make it to camp one day of the week, they will not allow a makeup day and the price stays the same. They charge a "late fee" if you want to come the same day, and don't seem to care whether they turn away new clients or customers because they are more interested in money. Gold Metal Gymnastics in Chandler, although a bit further, is a better option. They are friendly, kind, and know that with children and our lives, things don't always work out exactly as we want. Save your money and go to another camp that cares about families and kids, and not about nickel and diming you. read more

My 3 yr old has been enrolled for little over a month now. Started with just a month to see how my daughter took to it, and was enrolled long term by the 3rd or 4th class! I would give them ten stars if I could!! We are not members of the gym, but stumbled across the Sunrays while researching options for our daughter's 4th birthday. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of spectacular. Erin helped with our booking and made it incredibly easy right from the beginning by answering all of my questions in great detail. Amber and Maria were our party hostesses and the kids had an absolute blast with them. They were friendly, helpful and super efficient in the setup and tear down of the party, clearly pros at what they do. Everyone is so nice and they are really patient. My almost two year old is learning so many great skills. He loves the baby dance class and tumble tots is a blessing when you're trying to teach structure. The open gym is an inexpensive and fun way to beat the heat and it's better than going to the park! I signed my kids up for the Super Camp at AZ Sunrays for one week this summer. The kids have had an absolute blast. The instructors greet them warmly when we arrive each morning. I have been thoroughly impressed by their level of organization. The instructors make sure I sign both kids in and out (even when I forget!) The facility is clean. The kids are engaged from the minute they walk in the door. The camp is a little pricey when paying for two kids but well worth it. As much fun as my children had for the week, I will definitely be looking into classes throughout the year. Additionally, the level of customer service I have received has been above and beyond. I had an emergency come up while my children were at camp and when I called to let the office folks know I would be a few minutes late (as it turned out, I couldn't get back to pick them up until the end of the afternoon program) they were so kind and accommodating and made my children feel loved and well taken care of until I could get back to collect them. If my kids had to be stranded somewhere this would definitely be their first choice of where to get stuck! read more

I love AZ Sunrays. My daughter started as a tumble tot and we've been a part of the Sunrays family for almost 3 years at both the Arcadia and Phoenix locations. The teachers are fantastic and work so well with young children. We feel so lucky to have Coach Amber and Melissa but all of the other coaches have been great as well. Our daughter really admires her coaches and speaks about them non-stop throughout the week. They are fantastic role models and we couldn't be happier. Also the coffee bar and snacks are a nice touch for mom. read more
