I've had the opportunity to work at Explorers in Learning, twice. Which means I have more insight…read morethan most who quit after two weeks or a month. Back in 2018, EIL was a place where it was an honor to work there. The directors got along, and if they didn't I never saw it. They were respectful and focused on the children more. Staff that were there had been there a long time. They stood for something. They gave raises and praise. My first year there, I received a 2 dollar raise. My second time around, I received .37 cents. Now, EIL is not a place for growth of development. They do not care about you as a teacher, but they love to have you as a body in the classroom. I'd recommend asking them how their turnover rate is. Just in my 1.5 years (with a 2 month unpaid maternity leave) there, I've seen plenty of staff come and go, 20 that I can think of off the top of my head. A business owner once told me, "Happy people don't leave." I'm not trying to tarnish your thoughts on EIL, but it's not a place to work if you have your own thoughts and opinions. The only benefit they offer is PTO if you work over 32 hours a week. As much as the parents pay, I spoke with two of them outside of work and they were shocked to hear that as pricy EIL is, they do not offer any benefits. If you put your notice in, make sure you use your PTO before you go. I was denied my measly 6 hours of PTO on my last check. As a single mother of two, that's a full days pay as I worked part time. As much praise I received from the assistant director, the parents, and the bonds with the majority of the staff there, the director and one out of two of her daughters who work there are drama filled. They ask you personal information, so they can report it back to her. You're not able to fully express yourself without walking on eggshells. If you want to be in the office, dealing with drama, gossip, a place where the director admittedly said she only knows 5 percent of what goes on in the center, and stress then sign right up, they're always, ALWAYS hiring. You'll have a staff meeting once a month to talk about the same thing without a solution. Ironically, even though I had my issues with the director, the parents and students loved me. Before maternity leave, the director made the decision to remove me from infants since I raised concerns about the ethics in the classroom. Shortly after being removed, a formula fed child drank breastmilk that didn't belong to her. I assume the director removing me from the classroom was to get me to quit, but it didn't. She put me in Bumblebees where I thrive as well. Then a bonus... I had all my babies that I started with and gained in infants. I was extremely happy. One last thing... "Policy is situational" per the director. So really, it isn't policy. Policy is only enforced if you are disliked. From a parents point of view: The teachers are pretty good. My son was in Inch Worms and the bond he created with his teachers and the assistant director was like no other. I appreciated the love they gave to him. They allow you to bring you own food in which isn't common. My son never ate the food there though. It doesn't look very appetizing. The teachers are great, but they don't stay very long. From January to August, my infant child had two lead teachers quit. One negative about the parent aspect is a parent said they were pulling their child because the director can't get along with his wife. That was such a sweet family and they're gone because of the director.

She was the pet around there...i watched her get an older lady she did not care for the boot. My child care training came grom working at a child care center at the college I attended and later on a military base so the standards were high....at explorers In Learning the care guvers would just sit and work on classroom decorations crystal would just draw and not really engage with the kids she would stand above them talking down and not get down on their level which is pretty sad. Be careful if you work here because this is like highschool woth all the clicks.....if you are on the outside it will be a very unpleasant work environment. Others had interesting smells or visibly upset toddlers while we were touring. From the moment we walked into SLC, we knew this was the right environment for our family. All the teachers were so friendly and you could tell they genuinely care about each child. My kids are both now in elementary school and thriving! SLC prepared them both from an educational and social aspect - they learned manners, respect for others, hit milestones, and were very loved. Highly recommend to any parents looking for a safe and engaging experience for their babies.

They also have a community area for kids to eat lunch to get them used to cafeteria style, which I thought was super cool and their meals are on the healthier side compared to most childcare centers. They additionally have some extracurriculars that you can pay extra for like dance or art for about $10 additional a week. They are on the slightly more expensive side, but honestly very reasonable in comparison to other childcare centers in the valley. If it was a little bit closer to our house or in a more convenient location, we would be sending our children here.

I saw one teacher not being very patient or friendly with a child and later she was moved out to help with other activities (thank god). Another younger teacher would stomp past us and not even smile as if she hated us and her job. I understand my son made friends with a boy who seemed to be a troublemaker so he was difficult but the way the school handled it was by putting him up front in time out nearly everyday, and the teacher accosting me and telling me that he needs assessments as if he's special needs and then moving him down to half days only. I left in tears one day because of the way the teacher treated me. We transferred to the Scottsdale School and my son is thriving ! He has been learning SO much, the teachers have been there for years so they don't have a high turnover rate and my son loves going. I feel great dropping him off and they all love my son and he's super popular in school. We have had ZERO issues there. I do realize other people have good experiences here but I just always felt super off and stressed dropping my son off at this daycare. This daycare seemed to have a negative attitude towards my son (which may have been justified because of negative influences) which made for a somewhat threatening environment for him. Just know if a daycare is not working out then you can always find a better environment for your child. Young children are very influenced by other kids in the class so getting them into a different school may be appropriate.

Many incidents were not communicated promptly, and despite multiple meetings with leadership, the concerns continued without meaningful improvement. I later learned that leadership had reportedly told other families that my son was the cause of many classroom issues and that things would improve once he left. However, several parents shared that the same concerns continued after his departure, suggesting deeper issues were never addressed. Before enrolling, I encourage families to review the school's state licensing and compliance records. While there are caring teachers, I found leadership's communication, accountability, and handling of safety concerns to be disappointing. Ultimately, I withdrew my son because I no longer felt confident that the environment was safe or supportive.

A number of the teachers are caring, dedicated, and well liked by my children. However, the school…read morehas serious problems with its administrative staff and consistency among its many classrooms. Children are often moved to new classrooms with the equivalent of substitute teachers and these classrooms are chaotic and staff is overwhelmed and unable to effectively manage the class. Therefore, your child may like the school very much and never have a problem and then suddenly not want to attend the new class where there is uncontrolled bullying or a teacher who lets the children run amok. The administrative staff deals with this by sending home "incident reports" where your child's involvement and subsequent injuries are detailed, but no mention is made of actions that were taken with other students or how this is to be prevented in the future. Lastly, and most importantly, our experiences with the front desk and office staff have been horrendous. Most often the Director and any other senior staff are not physically present at the school and instead work from home and will only be called if a misunderstanding or disagreement should arise. This happens fairly frequently, as the Assistant Director Alexis Martin is less than astute and mans the front desk more like a bouncer at a nightclub, barring entrance for any child showing signs of an illness or who might have had a payment declined unknowingly after years of attendance and always paying on time. In these instances, the staff does not seek to handle the issue discreetly. Instead, you should expect to be embarrassed and treated with disrespect in front of other parents entering the building. No apology is given when it turns out that the issue has already been resolved via email with the Director Monique Griffith, who is at home and has failed to communicate and update staff on-site. In general, there is little concern for customer service since staff will tell you themselves that the school has a waiting list and you're more than welcome to disenroll your child.

Everyone that works there is nice and cares about the children. Their attention to education is impressive. My oldest that just started kindergarten is excelling and was more than prepared. My 2nd has been at Whiz Kidz since he was 6 months old and is so happy every day when I pick him up. As a parent, we all want our children to be safe, happy, treated with care and learn. Whiz Kidz has been that place and I am so grateful for everyone there.
