Our first day was November 24th. The day before the incident we picked our son up and he barely had a voice. So on December 3 at drop off, I asked the teacher Kristen King if he had been crying a lot the day before. She stated "No, I don't think he had been crying a lot." When it didn't make sense for her, not to know if she was the only teacher in the classroom that day. I asked her one more time to confirm her answer and she said again that "She didn't think he cried too much just when he needed a bottle or was tired." So I let it go and I left. As the day goes on, I get a few updates on the app that they promise to update thoroughly but they aren't logging. What type of milk was consumed or how many ounces. They're claiming that he did nap but they didn't log it but to me it looks like he was up for four hours when we arrived to pick him up at 4:45 pm. When we go to pick him up my husband noticed a large scratch on his head. He's gonna ask the teacher that was in there at the moment named Traci, What happened to our son's head? She then replied "I don't know no one hurt him. He must have come in with that." My husband then stated no he did not come in with that. Please note they uploaded a photo on the app that I will attach at 1:55 PM and the scratch was not there. The teacher only stated that she did not know what happened to him. Then, when we got back home, I noticed my son's voice was completely gone which leads me To believe that they let him cry even more on end. His eyes were super puffy as if he had been crying all day long. Other side notes: His last bottle logged was at nearly FOUR hours after he has eaten. He eats every 2 hours. I didn't end up speaking to the director who continuously put me on hold to go talk with the teacher herself, instead of letting me talk with the teacher myself. She was suggesting that there may be something sharp in the carpet, which I then stated that that could be a possibility, especially since Kristen King does not make Parents put on the shoe booties at drop off. She says it's fine. Come on in when my infant is crawling around on the floor and putting his face on the ground. The director inspected the carpet and vacuumed and said nothing came up in the carpet. She stated that they would do better about posting on the app. She still has no answers as to what happened to my son. read more

If you want to be stressed out and ridiculed all day, Sunrise preschools is the perfect job for you! The work place was always chaotic and hostile! If you're a parent RUN! They allow child neglect, serve molded food and nothing was ever organized! Kids ran ram-pet all day with no structure! Management was horrible and you never knew if they were having a good day because most of the time they were running around the school like a chicken with its head cut off, barking orders and never wanting to step in and help themselves. We were never in ratio and older kids were always being put with younger kids. THEY DO NOT HANDLE CHILDREN ON THE SPECTRUM WELL AT ALL. My kiddo has been attending Sunrise Preschool in the infant room for several months now and we have nothing but good things to say about Sunrise Preschool off of 14th and Bell Rd. I cried a LOT when I first dropped him off, I was so nervous even though I had done my research. However, my bubs always came home happy and clean with a fresh diaper. They have a policy of changing him if he spits up, so he's never in a soiled onesie. His teachers love him and he loves them. He's always squirming to get out of his carseat when we arrive and straining to get into the building. I was very surprised by these other Yelp reviews, and would urge you to take them with a grain of salt. Part of the reason we chose Sunrise is because it came very highly recommended within my neighborhood. Since we started at Sunrise, my child is babbling more, trying to stand up, improving motor skills, and learning to crawl. Highly recommend! The teachers keep me very informed of my children throughout the day. I can also look at the app on my phone if I want to know what they will be doing throughout the day. Every time at pick up the teachers let me know exactly how my children's moods were or what they ate and how much and how they interacted with other children that day. Sunrise is under new management but my son attended from the time he was 11 months until the end of this June and had the most amazing experience. From his infant teachers to his preschool teachers, and former administration, everyone was great. Miss. Sydney (his teacher when he was 2-4) will forever be in our lives because of the impact she had on him, and I! From social skills, to potty training, to learning the alphabet and writing his name, she taught, guided and encouraged him every step of the way! We both grew to love her.she has such a special way with the children and creates bonds with them, that was parents we appreciate so much. Knowing he was with her, and knowing she was close when he wasn't provided him so much comfort. Jamie, the school's cook, was great from the time he started eating table food to accommodate his needs based on his dairy allergy and making sure his food was cut very small early on (due to gagging issue he use to have). His preschool teacher Miss Debbie did a great job helping prepare him for kinder as well, and had no problem having him complete the extra work I would send for him. All in all, our experience at Sunrise for four years was wonderful. It was the absolute best place for my son and I always had peace of mind while he was there. There are so many great teachers who work here. My daughter fell in love with them all and they always treated her like she was their favorite. It saddens me we finally had to pull her out of this school because we were concerned about her safety. Overall, there are strong indications the front desk (administrators/management) does not support their teachers. Several months ago, my daughter became ill. When I picked her up at the end of the day, I was informed of her illness and the teacher told me the administrators didn't want to take her temperature. When I asked the assistant administrator about it, she said "oh yeah, I didn't get around to it." Last week, a teacher informed me my daughter was one of four children bitten by a boy that day. While we were talking, the boy cornered my daughter in the corner and she was screaming. Upon our exit, the administrator and assistant administrator were both too busy to talk. I brought in our written notice of intent to leave the following business day and questioned the assistant administrator about it. She claimed to not know any details. I told her I would be speaking to the corporate office. I received a call from a blocked number later that day and pushed it to voicemail. It was Olivia, the Director of Operations. Her voice sounded annoyed, she said she would try me later and did not leave a contact number. The administrator Ashley also called and left me a voicemail asking what she could do to keep us as a customer. I didn't call her back since I wanted to speak to someone above her and assumed Olivia would call me back. My daughter has since been removed from the school. They made no further attempt to contact us. I still don't have an explanation on whether she was the first child bitten, second child bitten, third child bitten or fourth child bitten. I still haven't received an answer on whether first aid was administered; and no one can explain their bite policy (see related news story from channel 12 regarding Glendale Sunrise). Sadly, I think it is clear their warmth and compassion towards our children ends with the teacher; and that the administration and corporate office are merely interested in treating these schools like factories and our children like undervalued customers. Do your child a favor and strongly consider other options. Update: I received another voicemail from Olivia - again from a blocked number. She was calling because I had indicated on our survey that I wanted to speak to someone. I took that survey six (6) weeks ago. She's obviously oblivious to the fact we pulled our daughter from the school immediately following the incident described above. Since she waited six (6) weeks to call, doesn't even know the enrollment status of the student, didn't remember I was the parent she failed to call back weeks ago, called late in the day on a Friday and again said she would call me back (she hasn't) and didn't leave her phone number, my review now goes down to one (1) Star - of which they are barely deserving. read more

my granddaughter went here and all I can say is run as fast as you can . The teachers stand around and on phones all day,major favoritism here. Children don't get moved up properly. I saw a teacher physically put a student outside alone for time out . Director and assistant director are extremely lazy and rude !!! Shes going somewhere else now and thriving . Potty trained in 2 days, can almost write her name independently, has daily hands on with science , social studies, reading and math. No structure here and the classrooms are very small . There is so much more I could say about all the awful things about this dump. This school is horrible the lack of communication is horrible they don't report things the way they should a issue would happen and they won't tell the parent until 2 days after the fact. My son never had behavioral problems until he attended this school. We chose it because it was more affordable but you get what you pay for. If you care about your kid put them in a better school. THIS IS A GREAT SCHOOL!! I have had my kiddos at this preschool since they were infants. My oldest started kindergarten this year and my son will start this September. I can tell you that over the years I have gotten to know this school very well. The school director Tanya runs a good crew she is warm to the parents and kind to the kiddos however, she will be stern if necessary. I saw her defend the school property with another tenant of the strip mall on one occasion. The teens of the trade school were loitering near the school yard and Tanya went toe to toe with the manager of the trade school making sure the teens not smoke and carry on near the school yard. Made me smile:) She's no push-over! The door to the school is locked at all times you must have a code to enter and there is always a staff member sitting at the front desk. I know the majority of the teachers...Bertrill and Marissa in the infant room both took care of my kids as babies and I can tell you- I would trust them with my eyes shut. Havinder, Carol, Jaime, Bernadette and Debbie all still at the school looked after both my kids as well. I have NEVER had an issue with any of the staff. My daughter who started kinder this year was well prepared to begin on the right foot. I still bring her back to Sunrise on half days or breaks when her schools shuts down for break. These teachers have taught my kiddos their ABC's, colors, show and share, computer programs, and arts and crafts to name a few. When my spouse and I broke up these women helped my family by keeping their dad and I informed on anything we needed to be made aware regarding the kids behavioral changes etc. This school was so compassionate about what happened to our family that I'm tearing up writing this... There are soo many kids that have grown up with mine at this school. The class throws a small party for the kiddos having a birthday and they are made to feel special. My kiddos are also fed throughout the day and they don't complain about being hungry. The school holds a Halloween , Christmas, Valentine's parties and craft nights and book fairs. These teachers have taught my kids about kindness, generosity and friendship. It is so sweet to see these kids grow up together. I have made friends with one mom in particular and this school really does give you a sense of community. There have been times my children have hurt or been hurt by other kids. I get a note from the teacher and then there is also one waiting for me near the sign out book. The teacher tells me what occurred what was done to correct it etc. the management at the school is also made aware of the issue and they let me know if there is any follow up etc. My kids do not come home with mysterious bruises or complaints about teachers mishandling them. There are notices about strep throat, pink eye or lice cases posted at the sign in desk and on the class door where it occurred. I have also PERSONALLY witnessed the staff wiping down the rooms for clean ups and the whole place smells as if it had been sterilized. I'm still shocked my kids have yet to even get lice since there have been several outbreaks. These things are inevitable but in my experience I can tell you the school handles the situation. I read the previous reviews and felt personally offended. Trust me, my children have been at this school for years....not weeks. I recommend this school to anyone I know is looking for childcare. These are generic photos-- this is not what the school looks like. The only person who has any kind of compassion or hospitality is the assistant director. I forget the name of the director, but she has no business running that place. DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS THERE. During my walk through a couple of weeks ago, she didn't even speak to me. You wouldn't have a Clue that she ran the place. I chose the school based off the experience that I got with the assistant director. Fast forward two weeks, my children are just transferring from another sunrise, so I'm familiar with their policies and procedures. I get my three year old settled in. I am having breakfast with him & there are two giant hamsters in a tank in the middle of the room. The tank isn't clean, poop and pee in there, I don't say anything, I notice that there's not really any toys for him to play with. The place is destroyed and dirty. Kids clothes are piled up on top of where there should be cubbies, no organization. Not a room for children to thrive in. There are two teachers (ms rosie and ms Kathy) in there during this time passing out breakfast, kids are walking in and out of the bathroom and no one is regulating hand washing. I get my child settled in long enough to take his infant brother over to his classroom. I'm attempting to have a conversation with the woman running that room and going over all my child's items & hand her is bottle that he was currently working on and frozen breastmilk for later. The teacher looks at me and with the snottiest tone says "what do you want me to do with that? We don't take breastmilk like that" proceeds to call the director over who makes a scene. "We won't make him a bottle, there's nothing I can do. You'll have to do it yourself" I explain to her that I've been with sunrise for years and never had any issues, it's never been a question of thawing milk at any of the ones I visited or let my children attend. Then she asks how she would even defrost it, so I explain because maybe she's just not knowledgeable in this area. States that she has to make a phone call and leaves the room. I'm standing there awkwardly not knowing if they're going to accomodate the needs of my 10 month old son. SHE DOESNT COME BACK. I pack up his things and take them out to the car and have enough time to walk back to my older sons classroom and pull him off the playground (the teachers dont even notice him leaving with me). I MAKE IT OUTSIDE AND HALFWAY TO MY CAR before the assistant director comes to apologize for HER BOSS making me look like a fool for breastfeeding my child and not understanding how they'd refuse a baby his source of food. Needless to say this is THE WORST experience I've ever had at a daycare. I had never been more embarrassed or scared for my children's safety in my life. If you have the ability to take your children to another daycare, do so. read more

Hi Julie, Thank you for your time and response. I will definitely be giving you call today. I was able to get what my corrected balance is and resolve that. However, I wasn't told until yesterday that afternoon pickup was included in the rate for scholarship recipients until after I've already paid an additional non-refundable amount for afterschool care at the school my daughter attends. I'm livid right now this center's negligence in providing me with accurate information regarding a program that they suggested that I apply for has cost me additional time, engergy and money. Due to them not disclosing that additional piece of information. Furthermore, the excuse that the director gave me regarding the conflicting pricing is not acceptable and not even plausible at best. The previous reviews must be isolated incidents because I adore this location. I even pulled my son out of a closer daycare to go to this one because if the people like Tonya, Ashley, Miss Debbie, Miss Jaime etc.... I have had my sons at this daycare for years now. They are amazing and are a great bunch of people. There are two Miss Jaimes there. One is in the toddler room and another is in the school age. Miss Jaime in the toddler room is amazing with the kids. She is loved by my child and has looked over him since he was an infant. I believe the other reviewer was out for blood when it comes to Miss Jamie in the toddler room because I have NEVER witnessed her be rude, lazy or mistreat any child. To think that is absurd. The kids are also monitored via camera at all times and parents are encouraged to come watch the interaction with providers whenever they please. Miss Ashley, assistant director, and Tonya, the director, are always friendly and warm to anyone who comes in. It is not the providers responsibility to make sure the scholarship is approved. Thats called taking responsibility and doing the calls yourself. Ya know being a grown up. Although they offer to help whenever they can it is up to the parent to ensure they follow up. The daycare is fairly priced and considerably cheaper than the overpriced Tudor Time down the street and doesn't have the "prison" feel the Suzy Mommy Bear does as well. Give them a chance you won't be sorry you did. My youngest who started when he was 8 weeks old with Miss Jaime turns 4 soon and considers her like a grandma. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DAYCARE! My child's daycare raised their prices so I decided to look for another daycare. I did a lot of research to find a daycare that was affordable, had great reviews, met my expectations and also was driving distance from my house. I always drive by this daycare quite often and came across it on Google and Yelp. The first week I dropped my child off the teachers were super nice. Boy that didn't last that long nor did we end up staying at this place that long. They never greet you and are super lazy. There are only two teachers that are super nice at this place. One of them is a younger girl who changes the kids diapers a lot and the other one is an older black lady. If you ever try to talk to Miss Jaime, GOOD LUCK. You ask her questions to get an update on your kid and she is bouncing off the walls. She talks to you about the kid and then gets distracted and forgets what we just talked about and this and that. I feel like she is the lazy one. A kid was playing with a plastic drawer and it fell on her, instead of getting up to go soothe the kid. she just sat in the corner of the room and told the girl to go over to her. I didn't like the fact that the teachers acted like they were just there for their paychecks and that was it. There was hardly any interactions with the kids as far as crafts or activities. They don't do a good job cleaning the toys or even showing any kind of affections towards these kids. I've seen the way these teachers talk to the kids and the way they grab their arms. My child had a bruise in between her eyes and nothing was brought up to my attention when I picked her up. I noticed it shortly after I took her out of my car and mentioned it to the assistant manager Ashley. Ashley kept saying she was going to follow up with the teacher but didn't end up calling me back so after I called her myself. She then asked Miss Jaime and was told that the teacher noticed that my daughter and some other kid were fighting over a toy and after turning around she heard my daughter cry. First off, if two kids are fighting over a toy shouldn't you go over there to resolve the issue instead of ignoring them? Also my daughter got bit badly on her arm and the manager or teacher didn't mention to call me to let me know what had happened. I walked in the classroom and noticed a dark red mark on her arm. I know it's very common for kids to get bit in daycares, but I was upset at the fact that I had to ask them a bunch of questions in order for them to tell me what happened. Its like i was trying to fish for some answers. Another thing I didn't like is the fact that they take the kids out in the afternoon when its over 110 degrees out. The kids face looks flushed each time I go there to pick up my daughter. Another parent also mentioned something about them going out in the afternoon and she didn't like it. One day I dropped my child off and there were three employees working and a guest was in the room. The teachers were acting super strange as in they were being really nice. They even did crafts with the kids and played with them. It was def all for show.....because they don't normally act like this. My daughter hated this daycare and would cry everyday! I thought maybe its cause she needed to adjust to this new place, but after doing it for couple weeks and noticing all of the bad stuff that was the last time I took her there. When I disenrolled her, the manager asked if there was anything she can do to have my kid stay. I told her everything and still disenrolled her. Obviously nothing was being done because I've mentioned this to the assistant manager and the teachers. So I had to complain to the corporate and funny thing was that last day she was there the manager went into the classroom and I heard her telling the teachers that they can't take the kids out in the afternoon and that they need to start washing their toys...... All of this is unacceptable and I think this place needs to look over their policy again and the managers need to go over what they expect from their workers or just hire new workers. Being new to Phoenix, I chose Sunrise because it was close to our home and the facility is beautiful and clean. My son was going there for 8 months at 4 days a week after school care and everything was great. Until my son went there for only 1 day of after school care during the 3rd week of April and I was charged for the full week. I asked the manager why be charged for days that he did not attend and she said "Well, You pay for the week because that is his usual schedule-even though he only attended for 1hr & 30 minutes for 1 day." A day later I found another daycare that did not charge for days that he did not attend and my son is just as happy being there as he was at Sunrise. They rip people off and there's no law saying that they can't do-so they do. read more

Please keep your children away from this preschool. My children only attended this facility for a week (thank goodness). The last day when I picked them up all three of them was very hungry, the youngest one screamed all the way home. Additional to that when I got home I tried to change her and her whole bottom was bright red. It look like she was in her soiled diaper for a long time. My son finger was smashed by the door in his cubby. Of course that was never address by the teacher. When my husband was picking up the kids first time and it was his first time in there, he was not assisted how to signed kids out, but rudely ignored. We was convinced that we will be approved for the scholarships and we had that first week for free, but still had to pay the fees. We was never informed how much money we would need to make to be approved for scholarships. If I would know that upfront I would know I would not be approved and don't waste my time for this people and loose the money I could use to set up other more friendly place for my kids. When I received phone call from the director informing me I didn't qualified for the scholarship and I mention I can't afford without it to keep my kids there all I got from her is "ok". No sympathy or even tying to figure it out what we can do so my kids can stay there. I had to leave my job to run and find other daycare for my kids. I would never pay almost $500/ week for three kids to have my kids in this daycare! read more

I have been bringing my daughter to sunrise for years. She started at six weeks and she's five years old now. I tried so save money once by taking my daughter to another local center when money was tight and regretted it instantly. Aside from vacations, my daughter has been in the care of this staff basically her entire life. Every room has video recording the goings on, and they actually record. (many companies such as Tutor Time do not) Heaven forbid I'd ever have a concern, the day could be reviewed. In five years, I've had no complaints. I'm known at their center as being over protective and vocal about my concerns, and IMMEDIATELY anything I've discussed with my daughter's teachers or the center director have been addressed. I wish I were more articulate to truly express how wonderful the staff has been, how pleased I am with the care my daughter has received, and how wrong-offensive even- any negative review could be! This place is not very safe for the toddlers. We had many problems with this school. My son had diaper rush many times. There were a lot of biting,hitting, punching problems among children. Teachers need some training about communicating with children and parents. I told them a hundreds of times my son has a sensitive skin needs diaper change often. He still came home with bleeding rush. When I talked to the teacher her response was not appropriate. She said that my son is not the only one. I strongly don't recommend this preschool. Please don't enroll because it is close to your home. There are many good schools around. Pay a little more and get a safer environment for your lovely child. read more

He also loves going in school age at night with Ms. Ronda. All the teachers are friendly and make the school feel welcoming. Warm, Wonderful and Inviting. From the moment you walk into the door you've feel like you've known these women for years. So inviting, the entire school from top to bottom is so bright and cheerful and very clean. The teachers are amazing and you get a sense that they truly love what they do. It's a thankless job and extremely demanding but somehow they make it look easy. As you walk the hallway towards your child's classroom all the children you encounter are really sweet little kids and they all look very happy to be there. As a fulltime single mother it's hard knowing you can't stay home and raise your child. It pulls at your hearts strings. It's a horrible feeling I am sure all mothers can relate to, to entrust the love, care and attention to your child while you're away at work to a caregiver. The teachers at Sunrise instill the same values and provide a loving and supportive direction to my son that I would do if I could be there. The curriculum chosen each month challenges the kids in preparing them for the next stage in their lives. I believe he's going to do very well once he starts kindergarten in fall because of how much he's learned at Sunrise. I'm truly grateful to this preschool and recommend it often to friends and family. I shopped around for different schools for a while but the tuitions were always so high I couldn't afford them. The places looked dreary and dirty too but Sunrise went above and beyond for me. They understood the position I was in an offered an affordable discount. We actually moved closer to this preschool just so my son could go there! I was against a daycare setting for my one year old until I was at my end with finding good quality care for him at an in home facility. After visiting the Sunrise in Scottsdale, I fell in love with their concept. As a former teacher and seeing all the engaging activities planned I knew my son belonged here. We ended up enrolling him at the one on 14th Street and Bell and it was a better fit for our drive. I knew that I was impressed with what they were telling me, but I didn't know how much I'd love it until my son came home with so many learning crafts he did during the day. He absolutely loves his teachers and friends and wakes up daily wanting to see them. Knowing what I do now about Sunrise, I would never consider in home daycare or even, if given the option, keeping him home with me or his grandparents. read more

I always feel welcomed and my son love Ms. Carol. I couldn't ask for a better environment for my son and am so excited for the head start he is receiving!!! My daughter is two and just started preschool here. She is enrolled two days a week for 6 hours a day. She had never been in any kid of structured environment prior to this and I thought it was going to be a difficult transition for her. In a short time she was in love with the school and the friends she made. During the last 4 months I have been to multiple preschools just to scope out and see what my options were and how it was ran and so on... We decided to pass on all. Just not impressed, seemed unorganized, loud crying kids and it made me sad. Well, a few weeks went by and we passed by sunrise preschool and decided to stop and look since we had time to spare. My daughter loved it immediately. I was caught off guard. The director Tonya greeted me and a ton of books that were nicely set up greeted my daughter! I believe that my daughter looked at it as if it was a school, rather than a daycare center. And she is obsessed with school because she wants to be just like her sister who is in 1st grade. It was quiet, calm & seemed like everything was under control. Tonya took us on a tour, provided me with great customer service, she was very in the know with providing me all information I needed to know about the facility. She seemed sincere, caring and I was very impressed with how kind, patient & willing she was on taking her time explaining to me. Made me feel comfortable answered all my questions and my first impression on this facility was great, and I hope it stays that way :) I can not believe that when I drop her off she waives bye to me TEAR FREE! Now I have some time to myself and it feels pretty darn good :) I feel that I needed to take the time and share my experience. If at anytime I encounter a problem with this school, I will be sure to let all you parents out there know :) But I am happy to say as of now, so far so good! read more

My son was in this daycare for a little over 6 months. The whole time we were there, we had nothing but problems. The problems weren't with teachers, but with the Director. As soon as my son went into the 1's room, it just started going downhill. I was constantly getting notifications that my child was doing this or my child was doing that, but when it came to marks on him, I received nothing! I'm an understanding person and I figure okay well they're busy.When I mentioned to the director that my son had been bit on the back and I never received a write-up on it, her reply was "Well unfortunately we dont strip search children here!" to which I replied, "No, I didn't think you did. The teacher told me it happened" and she brushed it off like oh well they get busy and cant always write up injury reports. I brushed it off. The last straw was when she called me in to go pick up my child because he had bit someone, when I got there my son had a LARGE bite on his cheek, literally you could see each of the child's teeth on his face, and a bite mark on his finger we could visibly see. When asked about this she said she will "review the tapes" (because you know, apparently 2 teacher in a room cant see when another child latches on to your child's face) but that she spoke to her supervisor and she knows the situation. She called us back at 7:30/8:00 pm (we were called to pick him up at 12:00 pm) that night and said he got bit on the face at lunch time, bit on the arm at breakfast time and didn't know about the finger bite. So before my child even bit another child, he had been bitten 3 times by presumably 3 other children! but yet I was being called to leave work to take my child home! Not to mention the day before she called me at work to come get my son because he had ONE red mark on his chin and "it might be hand foot mouth" I once again took off work to hurry and get him seen and the dr literally LAUGHED! she said, "this looks nothing like hand foot mouth, its skin irritation." She is very unprofessional and every time she has a concern about your child, she proceeds to tell you in the lobby, at the front desk, in public, while other staff and parents are walking/standing by. She doesn't even have the courtesy to pull you to the side or schedule a meeting with you about it. We pulled my son out that day and are now at a much better place! read more
