Gas prices are cheaper than most other gas stations! Cash and credit are same price. The real reason this business gets my support is that the car repair services here are better than anywhere else in the city. Jack is the most honest, reasonable, and hardworking car mechanic I have ever met. My family has taken our cars to him for nearly 20 years, which is UNHEARD OF considering my mom is a somewhat miserly Chinese lady who's suspicious that everyone is trying to rip her off (sorry, mom! But I should at least defend her in saying that she immigrated to the Bronx in the late 80s, different world back then?). I recently drove from Chicago to Boston to visit my parents and unfortunately got a nasty flat tire on the road. I called around to several tire shops and two Firestones, none of whom had my tires. Firestone even suggested that I replace ALL my tires (which I had purchased only ~15k miles earlier). This flat tire occurred the day before I was set to leave back for Chicago, so I begrudgingly agreed that changing all the tires was the best course of action. Before we went home, my mom suggested we talk to Jack to get a second opinion. He brainstormed ideas with us over the phone while the spare was being put in at Costco. He brainstormed after we drove over to see him at his shop. He flat out disagreed with Firestone and said he would call around to the different Boston suppliers to see if he could find a replacement for me! Not only that, he taught me how to identify what type of tires I actually had, so I could be a more informed participant in my car dealings. I brought my car in the next morning. He could not find my same tire- it was discontinued- but he found an equivalent and rotated my tires so that the new one was in the back (my car is a front wheel drive). This way, he explained, there would be less impact on my car if the one different brand was in the back. He also then filled each tire and, after noticing I had a new cabin filter box in the car, replaced it for me FREE OF CHARGE. I brought the car in for evaluation at 6pm the night before, my car was good as new by 9:30am the next morning and it only cost me $15 in labor. You will not find better service than this. Jack is just a hardworking man who loves his job, the good kind of old-school mechanic you want but have never been able to find. read more

Gas station on Bridge Street with a good price - $3.629 on 9/7/2013 - although the Hess station located diagonally from the Sunoco was advertising the same price... competition you know. Bonus points for having the same price for cash or credit unlike the gas station on Route 1, Rudy's Express. read more

Sunoco - 9/2013 - Gas Stations Near Me - Dedham, Massachusetts

See all

Went inside the station and an attendant accidentally hit me in the chest and did not have the decency to apologize

I agree with Vivian (who posted previously) on Ames St. Sunoco - good prices (well, good considering what we are paying these days) and they will be the same as the Hess station across the street, so if this is easier depending on which way you are traveling, cruise on in!! BIG BONUS POINTS for having the same price for cash or credit!! Nothing drives me crazier than the sneaky places that are actually 10 cents more for credit but you cannot read that until you are actually there... and have pumped a whole tank already. I understand those places have a transaction fee from the credit card companies, but don't they understand that they are just losing customers? read more

Jack and his entire team provide excellent service across the board. We've had many cars come through here between all our kids and our own cars. Other than my dad and uncle back in Texas, I've never met a more thoughtful, caring, honest, and excellent mechanic! No one touches our cars except Jack and his crew. 24 years strong! Thank you, Jack! read more

Decent competitive prices- that's always a plus in my book. Easy access in & out -which also is a plus - and Jack is a sweetheart.

I definitely agree that Ames Sunoco has good gas prices as described by the other reviewers. More importantly there are skilled and ethical when it comes to car repair. I have 4 used vehicles (2006 Wrangler, 2006 Pathfinder, 2002 Accord and 1966 Mustang) in constant need of maintenance that i have been bringing to Jack and his mechanics ever since I moved to Dedham, MA. I my experience I can trust their estimates and recommendations. They don't mind when I decide to take risk buy delaying or shopping a big repair. I have never had a problem with the literally dozen of maintenance/repairs done at Ames Sunoco. It is comforting to know a reputable service station when it comes to auto repairs. read more

My Dad has been a loyal customer of Jack's place for years, so I followed in his stead for a while. But it's not very convenient to access from Cambridge, so I recently checked out J&P garage in Allston. The mechanic there added $137 worth of work to an oil change for problems he made up, and then he told me I should come back for $420 more worth of work. I came down to Jack's for a second opinion, and one of his guys said none of it was necessary. I walked out of there having put down only $35 for inspection. Now I totally get the loyalty. Five stars all the way. Thank you, Jack!! read more

Great gas station to just fill up your tank at a competitive price. Should you require ANY car repair/service, you will find that Jack is a rare gem in providing an honest estimate without trying to gouge you or rip you off. Jack has been servicing my and my family's cars since 1986 when we moved to the neighborhood. He has always provided impeccable service and on several occasions even charged me less than the estimation because he was able to procure the parts at a cost lower than he anticipated and passed the savings on to me and that speaks volumes to his integrity and ethical practices. It is a great comfort to know that should I have any car issues or questions, Jack's got my back. Just hope he doesn't retire anytime soon, though he surely has earned it and deserves it! read more

This Sunoco station is one of the better stations to get gas in Dedham. It's usually very cheap and is quick in and quick out. Speedway across the street is also great, it really depends on what side of the street you are on, or if you need to buy something in the store (in which case, I suggest Speedway, as they actually sell stuff!). The station consists of two sets of pumps, one by the Bridge Street side of the building and the other by the Ames Street side of the building. This helps especially during busy times, and it's also pleasant how they are each covered, especially during snow and rain times. It's also really great how they are one of the very few stations that charges the same price for cash or credit. I always get annoyed when places charge more for credit than cash (especially if they are a nationwide chain!), and just find it to be a ripoff. Here, there is no ripoff whatsoever! Professional car repair including state inspection and oil changes. I assume they do other car repair as well, but have no further details. As mentioned before, they have a small little convenience store too with some good deals on the bare minimum of convenient store type items. That said, there is more variety and a larger store at the Speedway station, this store is really miniscule, and fifty square feet at most. One of the less congested and more spread out stations in Dedham. I'd suggest it as a good place to get gas or even for car repair (however, I have have not had any work done on my car here). 4 stars for the Dedham Sunoco. read more
