DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE - STEVE MAI THE OWNER HAS NO INTEGRITY. AND DO NOT PAY CASH or ZELLE!!! 1st visit was fine - one of his employees did my nails. 2nd visit his wife Katie did my nails and did a decent job. I was going to get a pedicure but got disgusted and changed my mind after seeing a hair in the bowl which Steve casually rinsed away. I decided not to return because the nail stations aren't too tidy either but against my better judgement did because she did a decent job at a decent price. 3rd visit - his wife worked me in as a walk-in but seemed extremely rushed and annoyed I didn't schedule even though they advertise walk-in's. I noticed she added a couple of dollars to the bill this time and I started to ask why later but decided to let it go. 4th and last visit was a DISASTER. Steve the owner took me as a walk-in and was asked to put a tip on a slightly broken nail which was very sore from the break. He made it much worse by jamming his nail under the skin actually breaking the skin and bruising it causing extreme pain with barely an apology. A couple days later I texted his wife to tell her to tell him I wanted him to redo it because he cut the tip too short. It didn't match the other nails at all and it was so sore when he first did it I wanted it to heal a bit before coming back to get it fixed. Katie said she'd tell him but I never heard back from her. I waited a couple of days when the bruising had gone down and the injury he caused had healed and returned. When I arrived Steve was kicked back in a pedicure chair chilling because business was slow but he became immediately agitated when he saw me because he knew why I was there. He was immediately defensive and accused me of re-chipping the nail again because it was so short which was untrue but proved my point - he cut it too low and it was obvious. I showed him how it did not match the other nails and he stood there and just LIED insisting I told him to cut it that short which made absolutely no sense because I told him it didn't even match the other nails and he shouldn't have had to ask me how short to cut it because he should've been matching it to the other nail lengths. He insisted I re-chipped it but agreed to re-do it but was going to RECHARGE me so I left (after he sanded off the polish) and had it fixed elsewhere because I actually preferred to pay more elsewhere than give him another dime. He also "scolded" me for texting his wife and insisted I should have called the shop instead which to me was irrelevant and petty. I was also concerned after he strongly encouraged me to pay by cash or Zelle for the cash discount because I received no receipt. I thought I left it behind and texted his wife to tell her I'd be back to get it so he had time to re-print one if he threw the original away. I also wanted to check the detail because the bill seemed a bit higher than it should have been. However, when I came back for my receipt, I received a poorly hand-written mess on a scrap of paper with no date or other valid transactional detail which I later realized he probably pocketed untaxed and unbeknownst to the IRS. I only wish I'd kept it because I pitched it but I'm sure I'm not the first. As a business owner myself I realized 1) the Zelle acct. did appear to be a PERSONAL (not business) Zelle account with no receipt so this looked like an "off the books" transaction which probably went in his pocket untaxed and I'm sure the IRS will find interesting because I will be reporting him. I sure I'm not the first and this is probably not the first sales he's deposited into his personal account. I also hope that five dollars for the fix he was trying to get was worth the loss of a customer, his business reputation and whatever attention the IRS will give this because he has no transaction on his books for that service and probably several others. Lesson learned. I ignored several red flags. Don't follow my example. read more

THE WORST NAIL SHOP IN COLUMBUS!!! 1. They are RUDE and unprofessional! 2. They scam people into paying cash with the ATM they have in their shop. They don't want anyone using a credit card because they want to avoid fees. What type of business is that? It's 2022...people want to use their debit cards as a form of payment. 3. I came to Sunny Nails being highly recommended by many customers. The first time I came a couple months ago they did not accept any card payments and OVERCHARGED me. I'm a male and a basic Manicure and Pedicure is $48.00. They begin to lie and tell me that's not correct. The pricing was for each. I was charged $100 for both...... Today I give it a second chance and came in as a walk in. There was 3 employees and two people being assisted. The one manicurist asked me would I be able to be assisted. I told her what I needed and asked the price she told me $52.00 for both..... which is the EXACT same thing I asked for prior. She turned the water on and I began to wait. Two more ladies came in and were assisted immediately...... I said and waited for a total of 35 MINUTES and still was not assisted..... If you're going to be a business to accept appointments only mention that to your walk in customers. Don't advertise that you accept walk-ins if you don't!!!! Surprise visit here. I was waiting while having my car worked on across the street, and looked to see if there were any nail places nearby. I've been getting pedicures about once a year, in the spring, to start sandal season. Sweetie introduced me to them, and I try to keep my feet decent. Have you ever really looked at your feet? They can get nasty. We took my brother-in-law once, who plays basketball, and the nail ladies exclaimed about how awful his feet were. Anyway, do yourself a favor and get your feet done once in awhile. They'll feel and look nice afterwards. This place is pretty typical: kinda small, lots of massage chairs with pedicure tubs and a row of manicure tables. I was able to walk right in, though they were fairly busy. Very friendly service, asked a lot of questions about what I wanted and just made small talk. The place is clean enough (for me,) and had enough options. She even put my shoes and socks back on afterward; can't remember if anyone has done that since I was a kid. Prices were reasonable. I left happy, and Sweetie was thrilled. read more

Absolute TRASH‼‼ I have been going now for just a few months every other week & each time becoming worst than the last. After I requested that my old set be soaked off in order to save my natural nail; the guy proceeded to butcher all of my nails by filing & clipping them all off. My first encounter with this shop. I wanted the works for both feet and hands. The pedicure was top notch. Worth every penny. The nails on the other hand were terrible. Bulky, acrylic entirely too thick. uneven rushed and very sloppily done. This was a new set so there was no pre existing nails. It's one thing to have my nails repeatedly messed up, and deal with the fungus I've gotten on my toes from here, IT'S ANOTHER TO HAVE MY SISTER CALLING ME CRYING AFTER THEY CUT TF OUT OF HER HANDS AND THEN STILL messing up her up her nails THREE TIMES after she nicely asked them to please not make them so thick and wide, telling her they're dry to leave when they were not, and then left a chunk missing. I am utterly disgusted. A Bad job is one thing, but terrible customer service and cutting tf out of my little sisters cuticles having her bleed from five different spots IS ANOTHER. Her cuticles are RAW. Literally ridiculous. I am so upset right now. I was on the phone with her every time she left and walked back in from the parking lot, too shy to go back in, but after talking her into going back in to fix the service she already paid for and tipped well for (we are in the service industry and know how to tip) they still managed to ruin them and be rude after she was incredibly humble and polite. As i got seated the lady began essentially ripping the acrylic nails off. If i had known this was going to be the process i could've soaked them off at home. This place is great! Prices are reasonable and I've always had a good experience. Staff is SO nice and friendly. My finger nails are usually destroyed before coming in (I bite and pick at them) and the nail techs always take care of them in a quick and pain-free manner, and without making any snide comments about the state of my nails (which I've often gotten from other places). I also have VERY small nails (some places have told me my nail beds are the size of a child's) and I've never had any issues in getting a good full set of acrylics from this place. Not so clean, not on time, they overbook appointments that I was literally being moved from one chair to another. Sat in one chair to soak my gel nails, then moved to another chair to get them removed, then back to the other chair to get them done. Two techs were working on me. My nails turned out great except for a two bloodied cuticles. They were able to follow instructions well. My dip gel took 2 1/2 hours. I'm not sure if I'll go back. Plus no place to put my purse! My best friend had a terrible and embarrassing experience last night; she was with her sister, daughter and niece; this man has no customer service skills; he isn't polite at all. Quite possibly the worst nail salon I have ever been to and I have been getting my nails for 13 years. I stopped in to get a balance a couple weeks ago and some of the nails techs were asleep when I walked in and stayed that way until I left. When I asked for my nails to be shaped square the lady rounded them, actually some of them were half round and half square. They were completely uneven and raised. She even drilled down into my nail bed. There weren't even nail swatches for the gel colors so I had to basically guess the color I wanted while the nail tech stood over my shoulder rushing me. Talk about uncomfortable. I went to my original salon to have my nails balanced today and Sunny Nails did such a horrible job that I had to have all but two of my acrylics removed. I'll never be back to this place that's for sure. If I could give zero stars I would have. read more

I get gel pedicures every two weeks and it takes at most 1.5 hours and that's a real spa pedicure not a regular one disguised in a description as a spa with 20 minute massage, cuticle remover and all. Rude manicurist. Not personable at all. I should have left when I saw how junky the salon is. Stuff pilled up on a massage chair next to tables? Like there's no backroom to throw things? She called the other tech over and said something in their native language. The only thing I could make out was white tips and longer. Based on her tone I'm pretty sure she was complaining about my request. Even if she wasn't, I should never have a reason to assume you're speaking poorly of me when I'm the paying customer. Without saying excuse me, she got up to answer a text message in the middle of doing my nails. I usually don't complain about people taking a moment to answer their phone but all things given.... And she was extremely rough. She kept jerked my hands around and filing like it was the end of the world. The last time inwent for a manicure the owner/ nail tech When I asked to see dip nail colors he gave me a cardboard box of the dip powder containers. I was unable to tell no idea what colors would look like finished. I attempted to explain the effect I was looking for, I asked for a nude color with a layer of clear in between each layer of nude For a light natural effect. He said he understood. But I realized too late he did not understand mr. I looked down to see every other nail brown and the alternating nails solid white. Now I know he was both busy and distracted and Made a mistake. When I told him we needed to Correct this by either taking it all off and I come back another time or just change the white nails to brown, he waas Furious. At no point did he offer me a solution but just kept verbally hammering at me insisting i had requested this affect. It all ended with nim screaming at me. I He Wasn't always like this. Love this place! Have been going here since I moved to Columbus a few years ago--I will not go other places. I grew up in the Washington D.C area--so I know high quality nail salon's when I see them. I have tried other salon's in Columbus since moving here and they are no where near the quality of this salon. The staff is friendly and I have never had a bad experience! Worst nail salon I've ever been to. The place was run down, junky and just a total mess. I have been getting gel polish on my nails for years, and I have never had them chip in less than a week. After only 2 days, both my pinky nails and ring fingers had huge chips. The other nails were already lifting at the polish. I was so disappointed, I took all the nails off myself and had to get them re-done by a better salon. I have never had this happen to me! This was my first time visiting Sunny Nails and will certainly be my last. What a huge disappointment.
