Great experience with Sunlogix installing solar with batteries on my home in the desert. Mark Licon, my account rep was outstanding. He has great knowledge and experience, which was invaluable as we designed our system. He listens and asks good questions, so he understood our priorities and goals. We came up with a cost effective plan that meets our needs really well. It's installed now, and we are very happy. Mark was with us through the whole process including finalizing our design (he recommended a panel upgrade that didnt cost much and seems to be well worth it), permit application and HOA approval and install (and after). Our home is in an older neighborhood designed by a well-known desert architect, so the visual effect of the system was important to us and to our HOA. Mark and his guys came out twice to do mock panel demos to make sure everyone (including the HOA) was satisfied and to get us through HOA approval, which went without a hitch. Install went well and Mark was key contact through that whole process as well. I had questions, and he made sure they were addressed immediately. Mikayla is another powerful asset at Sunlogix. She's invariably the one who picks up the phone when you call the office, and she seems to know everything. If you manage to call when she doesnt know the answer to your question, she knows how to get you through to the right person, right then. Any time Ive had a concern, she's been helpful and able to get me an answer right away. She is always pleasant, every single time. They've both provided great follow-up since the system went it. Mark came out and walked us through the system, making sure we understood all the parts and what to do when things come up. He walked us through the app and all its uses. Several years ago I installed a different system at a different house in the desert, with another company who installed it and then disappeared. No follow-up, no training, no service. This is why Im sensitive to service during the permitting, install and after. Sunlogix, has been the opposite of our previous bad experience. They have been great. The whole company, especially as represented by Mark and Mikayla, seems to be in this for the long haul. BTW I also met Glenn, the CEO of the company, when I dropped by to check out their offices. He was personally interested in our project, eager to make sure things were going well. Everyone in the desert should go with Desert Tech!!! I was so impressed with Desert Tech! From start to finish was amazing! Miguel and his team are extremely knowledgable, professional and excellent follow thru. I had met several other HVAC companies and most wanted me to replace my commercial air handler/heater. Several companies were quoting me a lot more than Desert Tech did. I ultimately saved a lot of money!!!! Here are some of my problems with my unit: 1. Not enough cool air was flowing into my bedroom. 2. The thermostat was located facing the window towards the window. 3. No heat. 4. Filters did not fit properly in the unit. 5. Tons of dust everywhere! Miguel met with me and explained all the options and concluded that he did not think we needed to replace the unit, just repair it. Not only was Miguel able to resolve all the issues, but he also discovered a major fire hazard in the unit. The heating coils were next to the insulation!! Potentially causing a fire! I wanted to say what a great company Desert Tech is. I had two units in my house replaced two years ago and they have worked great. Last Saturday night my unit for the bedrooms quit cooling which was bad timing. I called Miguel and he gave me a few things to try and call him back. Well nothing worked, so I called him and he had one of his techs (Alfonso) come out on Sunday and he said the compressor was shot. They had a new one ordered and came out at 2:00 PM on Tuesday in 122 degree weather and had me up and running by 5:00 PM. No charge for parts or service. Great customer service. Grateful and happy. Our AC started blowing warm air all of a sudden while we were out of town and our house sitter was going to roast in 110 degree weather! My solar guy from Sunlogix highly recommended this company. I called Katie a little after 8am and she said they were totally booked but she understood the emergency nature of the problem would try to figure out how to squeeze in our home. She called with an appt between 10-12. By noon it was all fixed! The tech called me to explain the issue, the part replaced and future recommendation for our old unit. I've been using Desert Tech for at least two years now. Staff is knowledgeable, professional, good rates too. When I first hired them they pointed out a big gap on my AC unit that was allowing air to escape. Because of this the air wasn't cooling enough and the unit would keep running almost continuously. The serviceman went out of his way to fix it. After that I've had no problems. I have been a super satisfied customer of Desert Tech and Miguel since the early 1980s. I have a set of circumstances different from many of Miguel's Palm Springs area customers. I live in the Los Angeles area, a far cry from Cathedral City. My most recent success story related to Desert Tech was the installation of an Ecobee3 thermostat on my HVAC (Dream System) Miguel and his crew installed in 2008. I was all prepared to install a Nest thermostat (purchased the Nest last December thru amazon.com). But, alas, I had never made the time to install it. The Nest sat, unopened, ready to be installed for almost 8 months. I called Miguel to see if he had a job going in the Los Angeles area and if I could "piggy back" on that job while he had a crew in the area, and have the crew install it for me. Miguel told me he had a major job going in the dessert and would be booked for at least three weeks. But the best part of the story is that Miguel told me about the Ecobee3 thermostat. He advised me to see if I could return the Nest. Fortunately, because the Nest box was NEVER opened, the amazon.com vendor gracefully allowed me to return it with no restocking fee (kudos to a great company). Miguel told me to order the Ecobee3 and two additional sensors. He then offered to walk me thru the installation and setup of the Ecobee3 via telephone! When the Ecobee3 arrived at my house, I called Miguel. As promised, he guided me through the entire process without a hitch. I was really glad I spoke with him because several of the settings he told me to input into the Ecobee3 were beyond my understanding of HVAC systems. Here is the most amazing part, Miguel refused to bill me for his services! He said that after so many years of being a customer of his, it was the least he could do. It is true, I am a good customer. I had Miguel install a 2-1/2 ton rooftop HVAC unit on my first house in the 80s. He put in the "dream system" in my current house in 2008, which included a "CleanEffects" electronic air filtration system (solved a major allergy problem suffered by both my wife and daughter). In 2011, Miguel solved a problem I had been plagued with for several years with a room that had lots of electronics and computer servers in it. He set me up with a Fujitsu split-air system just for that room (man cave). It was the PERFECT solution. Miguel and Dessert Tech have earned my full trust and complete loyalty! One last example of his dedication to great customer service is when my HVAC system would not run. Because I have some knowledge of electrical systems (I am not a HVAC guy), Miguel and I worked together on the phone and determined what component had failed. Miguel had the part drop shipped to me and I installed it with the help of his phone guidance. I was only down for one day because he had the part "Next Day" delivered to me. Amazing! A last note, you can see my Yelp and other reviews and you will see I usually rate either 5 star or 1 star. This is because I don't take the time to write reviews for mediocre companies or mediocre service--I'll leave that to others. Not easy finding good tech service for a higher end evaporative cooler. My electricity bill usually runs less than $100 per month because I use my cooler ALL summer long unless the dew point goes above 60 degrees. People don't believe me, but my cooler makes life so much easier...leaving windows and doors open eliminating stuffy air caused by A/C. I was searching for a good, reliable company, (that does not offer some stupid "club plan" which is a total rip-off) and quite by accident found Desert-tech.Their technician was so professional, knowledgeable, and efficient I will use them every time my cooler needs servicing (twice a year) Rates were very reasonable. These days with temps in the 117 range, my house is more comfortable than any A/C cooled house...and my electric bill is -$100.00. Cannot say enough good things about this co. and their technician. I have used Desert tech in the past for servicing my refrigeration equipment and AC units. I always liked Miguel the owner and the guys seemed respectful and got the job done. However, all the things that recently occurred make me feel sort of used. First of all, within 24 hours of a routine service of the AC units I called Miguel to tell him of water pooling in the vent and leaking into the dining room. He said he'd call back and never did. I called another service who takes care of my residential properties who noted that the condensation line was visibly clogged with water backing up for quite some time---and Desert Tech didn't catch this? Then I happen to ask thios other company what the annual service was for the 2 AC units and one Swamp cooler and it was almost half the price! I never shopped service as I started with Desert Tech and never had the time to shop it. This other company was a great surprise and very competent. But what really did it in for me with Desert tech and the reason for the lowest review possible was the ineptitude at managing simple credit card processing. The reason is this: I routinely sign up for milieage rewards cards in the spring and save all my bigger purchases for the summer to use these credit cards and get the mileage credited toward my annual trip to my second home in france. This is worth $1700 (avg air ticket ) so it's important that things like Desert techs $1200 repairs be put on that card and credited toward my mileage award!( I only have 90 days to make the purchases per the program awards)He couldn't do it! Ran it multiple times. Gave him my other MC CARD couldn't do it! I ran them both through my restaurant to see what the problem was--no problem! I called both Chase and Citi Bank--they said they never received a request from Desert tech.But see the other merchant charges. I tried to help Miguel, the owner, I told him I'd be happy to talk to his processor as I have a lot of experience with credit card processing as we do a high volume.I wanted to put him on a conference call with Chase so we could resolve it in that manner. He would have nothing to do with this. He sent me a report stating that the process did not go through, but of course if his processor doesn't communicate with the bank he can't be paid. I wound up writing a check. I feel that if you do not have the fundamentals or the cerebral wherewithal to manage your payment processing particularly after being offered assistance by your own customer, you don't deserve my business or that of other businesses who operate to a minimum standard of conduct. I guess what really irks me, is that after sending the owner my check with the statements that showed charges going through on the very days he claimed to have tried to run my cards--not so much as an apology or credit for my lost miles and his processing errors. Mehhh, me thinks not. This is my 8th business and first in desert. I realize the bar is pretty low here, but there should indeed be a minimum standard. read more

I called around and of course, everyone is booked with call outs. Then I called Desert Tech. I explained that my mother's house was over 100 degrees, that she was on hospice and didn't have anywhere to go. All the techs were busy, just like all the other companies, so the owner of the company personally took the job and came out in the 115+ sun to get my mom back up and running. While there, he pushed to her drink a couple glasses of ice water and made sure she was ok before he left. This type of "above and beyond" treatment is hard to find nowadays. We needed to replace the 27 yr old HVAC on our new condo purchase. We went through this about 3 yrs ago in our home in Seattle so had some background knowledge. We spoke with 4 contractors, all of whom we really liked, but chose Desert Tech for the following reasons. (1) We liked the high level of technological knowledge and experience of the owner, Miguel. He spent quite a bit of time explaining desert HVAC systems and calculating the actual size needed for our unit. Our old unit was 5 ton. We had recommendations from 3.5 to 5 tons from the other contractors, but Miguel really detailed why staying with the 5 tons would be an advantage, but was willing to install a smaller unit if that was our decision. (2) His crew was highly experienced and professional. They made the comment to us that their installations were very precise as that was required by the owner. (3) He bid was the lowest. 4) He gives a 2 yr labor warranty vs 1 from the other contractors. (5) Miguel listened to our concern of not wanting a complicated thermostat and re-installed a 2nd one. He also came out several days later, reviewed and explained the functions for best efficiency. We also appreciated that he spent extra time giving us tech tips on closing up our condo for the summer. As luck would have it our A/C unit for the back half of the house died as the temps increased in June. I received three quotes on a new unit and Miguel not only came in with the best pricing he also provided the most detailed quote. His crew were very polite and cleaned up at the end of the day. It took two days on the install and everything went smoothly. We had family coming in near the end of June so the new unit was good timing except the unit for the main living area went out and also needed replaced. I got in touch with Miguel and he got the second unit ordered and installed in three days. The house is now very comfortable and with the new units and the solar we installed our July 2014 Edison bill of $710.00 dropped to $325.00 in July 2015.
